Introduced in 1990, the Nike Air Max 90 represents the third generation of Air Max innovation. Instead of just copying the original Air Max style, Nike created a more advanced, multi-layer upper and created a cutting-edge look that was hard to ignore while the midsole offered more stability than older Air Max generations. The great runner known as Air Max 90 or III is equipped with leather, synthetic and mesh upper, contrast Swoosh branding, Nike rubber label at heel, breathable fabric lining, a foam-padded insole, a PU midsole with visible Air unit, and a rubber outsole with waffle tread pattern.
Wenn man vom Nike Air Max 90 spricht, meint man eigentlich den Air Max III. Nike gelang es, das Gewicht des 1990 eingeführten Runners abermals zu reduzieren, was natürlich genau wie die erneuerte Mittelsohle, die deutlich mehr Stabilität bot, dem Laufkomfort zugute kam und Kritikern, die diesen Schuh ein Fashion Item sahen, die Argumentationsgrundlage nahm. Weiterhin leitete die Silhouette dieses Modells bereits einen Trend ein, an dem die Konkurrenz noch jahrelang zu knabbern hatte – letztlich blieb der AM 90 aber bis heute unerreicht und erfreut sich weiterhin größter Beliebtheit.
