As a kid growing up in Cergy, France, 20 miles away from Paris, in the 80s and 90s, it’s not really surprising that Antoine Chardayre, aka Dela, was immersed in the Hip-hop culture at an early age. Swapping CDs and cassettes with junior high school friends, it’s classics like Enter The Wu-Tang and Midnight Marauders that makes him want to produce records. Having discovered a true passion, Dela spends the second half of the nineties learning about the craft of beat making, listening to his favorites, from A Tribe Called Quest, Pete Rock, Large Professor, to the jazz artists they sampled.
