In August 2002, HUF first opened its doors with the aim to bring the best footwear and apparel brands the skateboarding scene had to offer under one roof. The roof however, was tiny. Even owner and well-known skateboard maniac Keith Hufnagel didn't have the foresight to imagine how well received his vision would be on an offbeat block of Sutter Street just above the Zenderloin District. HUF quickly grew to be known as San Francisco's number one purveyor of hard to come by goods. Since it Bay Area debut, HUF has been relocated every year – each expansion has allowed an opportunity for Hufnagel to bring more of what the NYC native loves to his permanent home of SF. A professional skateboarder since 1992, Keith has a unique view and ability to blend his inspiration from the culture that surrounds him. What started as a simple solution to Hufnagel's frustration to find what he wanted to wear in San Francisco, has grown into three shops, a clothing brand, and a Los Angeles-based offshoot. However, Hufnagel's first love has always been and always will be skateboarding, so he continues to tour the world on his board with his team which helps to fuel and inspire his retail vision.
