DJ Format Stealin' James Part 1 & 2

James Brown is one of the most influential artists in the history of 20th Century music and is probably the most sampled artist ever. Several Cut 'n' Paste records were made in the late '80s using James Brown's music, Double D & Steinski's 'Lesson 2', Coldcut's 'Payback Mix' and Danny Krivit's 'Feelin' James' being the most famous. DJ Format decided to make his own record in homage to those mixes that influenced & inspired him so much, now that technology had advanced enough to allow samples to be manipulated in ways that weren't possible back in the '80s. Also, the influence of the late '80s & early '90s Hip Hop that so heavily sampled & scratched James Brown's records could now be acknowledged with subtle references (like Format imitating DJ Premier's famous scratch pattern from Gangstarr's classic Who's Gonna Take The Weight). The original plan was to make just one mix but Format had so many ideas & samples left over that he decided to do a second mix, resulting in this record Stealin' James Parts 1 & 2. It was originally released on 12" back in 2008 in very limited numbers and sold out immediately. This guaranteed dancefloor filler is now available on a limited 7" for the first time!
