Item Description
The most oustanding DDR / East Germany / GDR progressive Rock, Soul, Jazz, Funk masterpiece-album, from the early 70´s era........some couldn´t imagine, that this lost material is really existing.

The 1st album of Panta Rhei, that has been released on Amiga Records in the GDR communist era and has been re-released on ACME Records in 2012, has already reached a cult-status between music-lovers worldwide, because of it´s very own progressive tone. The more surprising it is, that these recordings were sleeping for nearly 45 years, hidden from the day of light.
This album shows the high quality musical level of the East German & especially of the East-Berlin music-scenery, and the understanding and knowledge to be able to fuse rock, jazz, soul and funk music in it´s very own, playful, progressive & psychedlic way, with very deep & longing vocals, that you as the listener feel touched and affected in your soul.

This wonderful Album of the supergroup PANTA RHEI on Black Pearl Records reflects an conglomerate of the musical works that the band recorded between 1972-1974. Among those tunes like "Prometheus" and "Hört", which where high up at the radio charts at DT64, are two very outstanding & jazzy student music composition-works for the university called "Amygelius" & "Shigu".

In the early 70´s former East-German music-scene, every band was trying to get radio-plays to promote their music and become more famous - especially when you were one of the these more progressive jazzrock combos - but only a very few of these very talented music-groups were invited to the recording-studios of the GDR radio stations.

But PANTA RHEI became already then quite famous because of numerous live-gigs and quite a big bunch of fans, that even lyricist-writers like Jens Gerlach & Joachim Krause were interested to cooperate and to work with the band. This cooperation was very important next to the band´s instrumental work, to express their musical output in a much more sophisticated way, followed by more airplays and the offer by the state label Amiga to release an LP album, to be recorded in the famous "Studio B" in Berlin´s Brunnenstrasse 154. But sadly most of these recorded tunes got no space at the vinyl publishing stage in those days, except of some 7inches-releases from the DT64 youth radio itself.
After this disappointment the band got smaller, when Vroni Fischer & some brass-members left the band in early ´74, and it was a noticeable and other spirit amongst the group.
As the last recordings of Panta Rhei in 1974 found no appeal by the musical directors of the record company and the Amiga editors decided not to feature this progressive rockjazz music any longer on the socialistic music culture, the band decided to disband.
Shortly after that, some members decided to form a new group with a completly new sound and concept. The proposal of the early member Uli Pexa pushed through and another very famous east german band saw the light of the world, KARAT.

The Black Pearl is more than proud to present this forgotten musical pearl to the progressive Jazz, Soul, Funk community & music lovers worldwide !
