Wildheart Recordings is Theo Parrish’s new London-based label. “Sound Signature releases for the body, Wildheart is for everything else” is Theo’s pithy summary of his two labels’ aims and compatibility.
Day Like This and Feel Loved are the first fruits of Parrish’s work with the legendary Lagosian, Tony Allen. They met initially at the Red Bull Academy in 2007 in Toronto and linked again in 2010 when they spent a couple of days together in London, again courtesy of the RBA. (Their bond was forged further when they participated in the Honest Jon’s Chop Up shows in London, France and Ireland at the end of 2011). Final work on the tracks was done in 2012 when Theo brought on board vocalist Eska, Andrew Ashong (following up from Flowers with another stellar contribution here, singing and playing bass) and guitarist David Okumu.
Day Like This is masterful modern soul music. At the point where Parrish’s synth stabs into Tony’s groove beneath a swirl of falsetto vocals, you know it – this is a Big Tune.
Feel Loved goes deeper and for some will hit harder. An epic sweep of synth this time, around which Tony plays with growing freedom and excitement - showing again that he is the best drummer on the planet – before a majestic coda brings things to a close.
Music for everything else indeed, but by all means for the body as well. For its first release, Wildheart is giving birth to a monster.

Pay Jay Productions, Inc. was the company James Dewitt “J Dilla” Yancey founded in 2001 to house his production company and his publishing company. The Estate of James Yancey has revived Pay Jay as a functioning imprint, and is announcing its release of J Dilla's long lost vocal album, The Diary. The first single features "Anthem" b/w “Trucks” - two of the songs J Dilla recorded in late 2001 and early 2002 as he put the finishing touches on what was supposed to be an album featuring his raps over production by the likes of Madlib, Pete Rock, Nottz, House Shoes, Karriem Riggins and others.
These two tracks, however, were produced by Dilla himself and come straight from multi-track masters found on 2” tape shortly after Dilla’s passing in 2006. These songs have been mixed by engineer Dave Cooley, who worked extensively with Dilla during his years in Los Angeles. Using Dilla’s original demo mixes as his guide, Cooley attempted to finalize Dilla’s vision for these tracks, while keeping all of the elements that Dilla had in place in his original demos present. Rounding out this 12” is Dilla’s original mix of “Trucks,” discovered as a two-track demo mix. We’ve
included this mix as it features an alternate version of Dilla’s vocals and a third verse not found on Dilla’s final sessions for this song.
The first press of this 12” features clear vinyl atop an original Jeff Jank sleeve with art by Mason London and placed in a thick, fold-over plastic sleeve. Subsequent runs will not have the clear vinyl or the fold-over plastic sleeve.

Project: Mooncircle & Finest Ego have teamed up to establish a fresh new 12” producer series, entitled “Faces”. On every edition, you will find two different producers. Respectively, each producer will have their own record-side and unique cover artwork by the aspiring Bioniq, known for his surrealistic portraits, blending humans and technology.
On our fourth “Faces” edition we are featuring the two ascending artists Lomovolokno and Sieren, presumably the two most unknown so far. Originally hailing from Krasnodar, Russia and Bielefeld, Germany, one was inspired by naive childhood memories of imaginative creatures seen floating in the nighttime sky, while the other looks into an uncertain future that holds the anxiety of a fresh start but also the ever present risk of failure. The artwork takes these motifs and implements them in a vision of technological enhancements of human capacities and evolvement, forming a futuristic symbiosis that enables for synaesthetic senses heightened to an subatomic degree. But it is unsure, however, if these augmentations can actually expand our human experience or rather amplify our solitary existence and emotional void while traveling across fantastic worlds and the universal vacuum filling the space between.
Krasnodar, Russia: In the midst of grey soviet housing projects, a young boy enjoys playing and improvising his first little melodies on his parents piano. Always being inspired by the nature nearby the city - memories of peaceful springtime swimming sessions in the Black Sea come to mind – Lomovolokno grows up fascinated by machinery like samplers and the rapidly increasing possibilities of modern computers. Delving deeply into twisting melodies, building sounds and crossing notes leads his way to first field recordings resulting in an influx of elements ranging from waves of the sea, the wind, sand, crackling noises, banging and rustling becoming a part of his sound.
Sieren is the maiden name of Matthias Frick’s mother and also his current alias under which he started to release his first free tracks in 2011. Rumor has it that he has a dark secret history of producing experimental techno, albeit his love for UK influenced bass music existed for more than one handful of years. It was not until recently that he began to make the most of his love for field recording and experimental soundscaping and is now throwing his full force into music, while simultaneously finishing a university degree in computer science and design before moving from small town to métropole to follow a new set of challenges and advance to the next stage of his life.
Bioniq is an artwork designer, DJ and producer from St. Petersburg in cold Russia and Project: Mooncircle's special KGB agent. With his drawings he aims to create new horizons on paper and draws inspiration from historic tales, events of the present age but also possibilities the future might hold.

Hex-One aka Christian Ortega was born in Columbia but at an early age his family moved to Elmhurst, Queens (you KNOW we had to get QU in there somehow!!). Hex's influences are varied. His father used to 'rhyme' using a traditional form of Columbian improvised call-and-response style comedy which he brought with him from South America. He and his buddys would hang out droppin rhythmical smarts at parties and social gatherings and the young Christian, suitably impressed, would constantly be asking his dad to 'kick a rhyme pop'. This would probably be his first experience of rhyme performance. Growing up in the borough of Queens added his next layer of influence. In his early teens the hard, cold East Coast 'boom bap' style permeated the 'musical part of his brain' and he took that with him when his family relocated once again to Hollywood (the MORE glamorous one) in Florida, just north of Miami.
Within the space of 2 days, 2 young cats moved to Hollywood, FL. One being our boy Hex, the other, one Edwin Canela (aka Tek-Nition). Edwin had grown up and lived just south of Miami in Homestead, which, if you know your Sunshine State geography is hemmed in by the Florida Everglades on the west, the Atlantic Ocean on the east and is the last city you pass on the way to the Keys. Both cats had been born in the same month (April) of the same year 1989 and showed up at the same new school, Hallandale High School, within a couple of days of each other. You could say both were misfits - in a new neighbourhood, both came with different musical influences from most of the other kids there. At this point they had both played around with rapping and writing rhymes and once they realised the other was a fan of the art of mc'ing and Hip Hop culture in general, they began to hang out. They would perform at lunch times in the cafeteria, trying out new verses, dropping them over instrumentals. They honed their craft over a couple of years and in 2006 put together a series of verses over their favourite Hip Hop beats which they eventually ending up 'shelving' like Ikea.
After a couple of years working on music, frustrated by the sound quality and his lack of recording expertise, Hex moved to Arizona to pursue a degree in sound engineering. He qualified in 2010 and immediately hooked up with a beat maker he had worked with in the past, 5th Element, to recreate the mixtape with original beats. That joint, which they worked on for a few months, was their first release 'Illin Spree' which they dropped on CD and digital in 2011 on their own label Mic Theory records. Soon after that drop, nourished by the positive feedback, they began work on their follow-up project 'Monochrome Skies'. They were put on to a Luxembourg- based producer (has HE ever lived in Queens? MUST have!!) called Jesse James through a mutual 'online friend' and instantly dug his sound. After receiving about 5 solid beats from Jesse the boys realised that they could work with this dude on a full album of material. Given the vast distance between the artists, they worked on the project via the internet and dropped the release in 2012. 'Monochrome Skies' while still being an 'underground' Hip Hop project, received huge support on the internet from fans of the genre.
