Average & Kayo Krone Richten

Average and Kayo, two established figures in Austria’s rap scene, are joining forces for the first time in 2026 to release a collaborative album that is already being touted as one of the year’s most exciting projects. Average, the rapper from Linz, has established himself as an influential voice in Austrian hip-hop through mixtapes, EPs, and numerous collaborations. Kayo, meanwhile, is considered one of the most important representatives of Austrian dialect rap and has played a major role in building and developing the scene since the 1990s—both as a solo artist and as a member of Markante Handlungen. Both artists are also part of the TTR Allstars collective.

Together, the two artists are creating a defining statement in Austrian dialect rap that is unlike anything else in this form. Stylistically, the album moves between classic boom bap and contemporary, catchy productions. With support from the who’s who of the dialect rap scene—including Dicht & Ergreifend, Kreiml & Samurai, Texta, and others—it becomes a versatile project that appeals equally to die-hard hip-hop fans and listeners of current musical trends. Lyrically, the album ranges from personal stories to pointed battle rap.

Fans of dialect rap in particular have plenty to look forward to: The interplay of dialect, distinctive voices, and varied production gives the album an unmistakable character—and makes it a potential contender for dialect rap album of the year in 2026!
