The “Bad” LP by Michael Jackson is being released by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab as a strictly limited UltraDisc One-Step 180g 45RPM 2LP box set and constitutes a technically sophisticated new edition of the album. Limited to 6,000 numbered copies, the edition includes the bonus track “Leave Me Alone,” is sourced from the original master tapes, pressed at Fidelity Record Pressing, and delivered in an open slipcase with a foil-stamped cover and faithfully reproduced artwork.

Musically, “Bad” represents the third and final collaboration between Michael Jackson and producer Quincy Jones; recorded between 1985 and 1987, it fuses pop, rock, funk, R&B, and soul. Tracks such as “Bad,” “Man in the Mirror,” and “Smooth Criminal” showcase Jackson’s distinctive vocal phrasing, his feel for melodic hooks, and the detailed arrangements that make the album a defining pop statement.

This Mobile Fidelity edition uses the UltraDisc One-Step process and is cut directly from the original master tapes to improve balance, presence, dimensionality, and soundstage. As a result, Quincy Jones’s production and Michael Jackson’s voice are presented in a more sharply defined sonic frame; the 2LP set is aimed at listeners who place a premium on precise, detail-oriented reproduction.

The “To Be Or Not To Be Purple Vinyl Edition” 12" by Jock Hattle Band, released on I.D. Limited, comes as a purple vinyl edition and clearly places the track in the context of Nu Disco. On this 12", Jock Hattle Band combines driving, danceable grooves with warm synthesizers and funky rhythms that emphasize the characteristic Nu Disco approach, balancing dancefloor focus and melodic work. The production relies on smooth basslines and a distinct bounce in the arrangements, presenting the original in a modern yet respectful guise. With the colored pressing, I.D. Limited underscores the collectible nature of the release; the 12" serves both as an audible rendition and as a visual statement on purple vinyl. Fans of Jock Hattle Band will find here a compact, dance-oriented edition in Nu Disco format.

Glenn Branca’s first full-length album The Ascension is a colossal achievement. After touring much of 1980 with an all-star band featuring four guitarists (Branca, fellow composers Ned Sublette and David Rosenbloom, and future Sonic Youth member Lee Ranaldo) along with Jeffrey Glenn on bass and Stephan Wischerth on drums, Branca took his war-torn group into a studio in Hell’s Kitchen to record five incendiary compositions. Originally released in the summer of 1981, The Ascension effectively tears down the genre-ghettos between 20th century avant-garde and ecstatic rock ’n’ roll. On “The Spectacular Commodity,” chiming, shimmering tones unfold into sinister drone-territory à la Tony Conrad, while abrasive guitars and repetitive beats retain the raw primitivism of No Wave. The title track attains a densely packed, larger-than-life sound and (as author Marc Masters says best) “never stops climbing skyward.” With artist Robert Longo’s stark front cover that depicts Branca battling an unidentified man, The Ascension is a must-have record not only for fans of early Swans and Sonic Youth, but also of Steve Reich or Slint’s Tweez.

The "Code" LP by Cabaret Voltaire is released on Mute and concludes a chapter in which the duo centered around Richard H. Kirk and Stephen Mallinder combined electronic experimentation with danceable arrangements. The album unites themes revolving around surveillance, programming, and mechanisms of control with a precise, clear sonic image, and marks a moment when the band drew on larger-scale production resources without abandoning its idiosyncratic stance.

Musically, "Code" moves between mechanistic electronics, funky basslines, and song-oriented structures; driving grooves meet rough-edged soundscapes and recurring, sharply defined hooks. Tracks like "Here To Go" and "Sex, Money, Freaks" illustrate this balance: catchy, bass-heavy arrangements sit alongside experimental textures, while occasional colorings — such as atmospheric guitar parts by Bill Nelson or surprising harmonica flourishes — add extra nuances to the album.

Cabaret Voltaire themselves were involved in the production; Adrian Sherwood handled pre-production, the recordings took place at the Western Works studios in Sheffield, and the mixes were finalized in London. Guest musicians such as saxophonist Simeon Lister and bassist Mark Brydon complement the core work by Kirk and Mallinder, making "Code" function both as a studio work and as a production statement by the band.

The "Tea For Tears Clear Vinyl Edition" by Junko Ohashi is released as an LP on clear vinyl and gathers the original album’s ten tracks in a limited first pressing. The selection ranges from the title track passage to the popular song "テレフォン・ナンバー", while the concise running order preserves the album’s warm, instrument-driven AOR character.

With this program, Junko Ohashi returns to her solo roots after previously working with the group Minoya Central Station; the production was handled by 本城和治, the lyrics are largely by 三浦徳子, and compositions were contributed, among others, by 米倉良広, 佐藤健, and 安部恭弘. This lineup establishes the release as a carefully arranged example of early‑1980s Japanese pop and AOR production.

Musically, the album is defined by a balance of elegant melodies, tasteful rhythm sections, and clear vocal presence; Junko Ohashi delivers a stylistically assured blend of songwriting craft and vocal focus that ties timeless pop structures to gentle instrumentation. As such, the LP offers insight both into the pop aesthetics of the era and into Junko Ohashi’s artistic range.

Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell” LP is released by Capitol as part of the Definitive Sound Series, bringing one of the defining albums of the 1980s back to vinyl. Billy Idol’s second studio album combines driving rock with new wave influences, distinctive synthesizer textures and Steve Stevens’ signature guitar lines. Producer Keith Forsey shaped these elements into a characteristic sound in which edgy instrumentation and catchy melodies work closely together.

The title track, “Rebel Yell,” opens the album with a driving rhythm, sharp guitar work and Billy Idol’s unmistakable vocals. “Eyes Without a Face” follows with a much more atmospheric tone, before “Blue Highway” returns to the album’s rock-driven momentum. “Flesh for Fantasy” and “Catch My Fall” add two more well-known tracks that showcase Idol’s feel for big choruses and precisely arranged shifts in tension. The album’s production combines programmed drums, live drums, keyboards and multiple layers of guitar to create a sound that clearly reflects its origins in the early MTV era.

“Rebel Yell” documents the collaboration between Billy Idol, Steve Stevens and Keith Forsey at the height of their shared creative development. Capitol now reissues this classic as an LP within the Definitive Sound Series.

The “Live Aid” LP by Queen is released on Easy Meal and comes with a white cover. Side A gathers the legendary Wembley set from July 13, 1985, including the immediate live versions of “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Radio Ga Ga,” and juxtaposes these stadium performances with the band’s early De Lane Lea recordings. Side B features historic studio recordings such as “Keep Yourself Alive,” as well as tracks from the band’s early creative periods, giving the release a direct contrast between onstage presence and early band material.

The selection of tracks highlights defining moments of Freddie Mercury’s lead vocals and Brian May’s distinctive guitar work, complemented by the tight interplay of Roger Taylor and John Deacon. As a classic rock LP, the Easy Meal edition brings the dynamism of the Wembley performance into a concise format and complements it with studio recordings that have a documentary feel, so that both the theatrical stage performance and the unfiltered energy of the early tracks come through. The white cover design serves as a clear distinguishing feature of this edition.

The colored vinyl edition of the 12" “Thru Traffic Clear Deep Blue Vinyl Edition” by Tohoku Shinkansen is released by Universal. This edition presents the 1982 album by the duo Hiroshi Narumi and Etsuko Yamakawa in a version transferred to vinyl, making the recordings, originally only available in Japan, accessible once again.

Musically, Tohoku Shinkansen operates at the intersection of AOR and City Pop: warmly arranged keyboard textures, smooth guitar chords, and a soul‑tinged lead vocal define the overall sound. You can hear clear lines of influence from contemporaneous U.S. soft‑funk and adult‑contemporary productions of the early eighties, while at the same time the production is shaped by a subtly Japanese melancholy.

The selection includes concise, melody‑focused songs like “Summer Touches You” and “Up and Down,” characterized by catchy choruses and refined arrangements. The tracks move between relaxed groove sections and more atmospheric passages, with the precise instrumentation always serving the vocal lines.

As a reissue on Universal, this 12" invites a renewed engagement with a work highly regarded in Japanese pop history. The presentation on vinyl emphasizes the warm tonal colors of the recordings and brings the fine production details to the fore, clearly documenting the project’s stylistic position within the City Pop scene.

"Minimal Wave presents a remastered deluxe double album of archival material by pioneering 80s minimal electronic duo Oppenheimer Analysis.

Oppenheimer Analysis formed in London, England in 1982 by Andy Oppenheimer and Martin Lloyd. Their first meeting though was at the 1979 World Science Fiction Convention in Brighton. They quickly became good friends, sharing an interest in the work of David Bowie, electronic music and early synthesizer bands such as the Human League and Soft Cell. They also shared a love of old science fiction movies, 1950s graphics and comic book imagery and a fascination with post-World War II propaganda, the politics and aesthetics of the Cold War, and the social impact of the atomic bomb. Over the next few years Andy and Martin frequented the growing club scene, including Studio 21 on Oxford Street, and became involved in the developing Futurist and New Romantic style sub-cultures. During this period Martin recorded as Analysis, both alone and with David Rome of Drinking Electricity. They released their first single, “Surface Tension/Connections” on David’s Survival label in 1981.

In 1982, Oppenheimer Analysis began writing and recording together at Feedback Studio in Battersea, and performed several times at The Bell, Islington, the 1983 World David Bowie Convention in Hammersmith, the Starzone Birthday Party at Camden Palace, the 1984 European Science Fiction Convention in Brighton and other live venues. Their first demo tape and twelve song “New Mexico” cassette were sold at gigs and by mail-order, and were reviewed in Melody Maker, Sounds and Soundmaker. For the years to follow, Oppenheimer Analysis became recognized among electro-music aficionados as a pioneering duo who influenced countless other bands during the club and home-recording era of the early 1980s and beyond. Their cassettes became massively collectible. In 2005 they re-formed with the release of a self-titled four song 12” EP of selections from the New Mexico cassette, including “Cold War” and “The Devil’s Dancers”. This marked the first release on Minimal Wave.

This 2026 edition is pressed on ’nuclear’ black & white vinyl 160 gram vinyl, housed in a glossy gatefold silver and black printed sleeve, featuring all the song lyrics on the inside of the sleeve. This quintessential reissue has been produced in loving memory of Martin Lloyd."

Throughout history man has made and used music for two distinct and separate purposes. In recent years, particularly since the advent of sound recording, the most popular use of music has been for entertainment - the temporary amusement and distraction of as large a number as possible. As a consequence, many people tend to overlook its more fundamental and ancient use as a tool for affecting man's body and spirit. The many varieties of religious music from around the world contain a vast quantity of clues to the way in which sound can affect the physical and mental state of the serious listener, yet many find their associations with religion itself too difficult a stigma to overlook in their appreciation of the sound and its potential, for its own sake.

On this record, hopefully the first in a series, we have tried to produce sound which has a real, practical and beneficial power in this modern Era. Specifically, it is intended as an accumulator of male sexual energy. Although we make neither claims nor rules for its use, we do suggest that for maximum potency it should only be played in circumstances that exclusively male and/or onanistic in nature. What these are is entirely up to you.

The execution of the piece was structured around concepts we felt would work for us - in this case magickal and numerological rather than conventionally musical in form. One image or symbol which we drew upon that may be useful to bear in mind is that of Mars, often indicated by the male symbol.

Should this music have any power, over and above the banal and transitory titillation achieved by most records available now, it is a positive and beneficial power to be used and controlled by the listener, as he desires.

The compilation “Bobby "O" Rarities Volume 2 Black Vinyl Edition” is being released on I.D. Limited as a 12" and presents a curated selection of rare tracks from the Bobby "O" universe on black vinyl. The “Rarities” designation in the title points to previously hard-to-find versions and album or single cuts that are gathered here on a 12" either for the first time or as reissues. I.D. Limited continues the series with a focus on nu-disco–oriented soundscapes that typically rely on grooving basslines and striking synthesizer arrangements.

The compilation’s selection centers on exceptional discoveries and edit versions that reflect the specific cosmos around Bobby "O" without naming individual credits in advance. “Bobby "O" Rarities Volume 2 Black Vinyl Edition” thus provides a working foundation for adaptations in DJ sets and at the same time offers a documentary glimpse into increasingly rare productions from the post-disco continuum. I.D. Limited presents the material with a clear collector’s mindset, preserving in the 12" format unit the vinyl play options relevant to the genre, while the title itself underscores the special Black Vinyl Edition.

Chris Isaak's Heart Shaped World Is a Mood Masterpiece: Double-Platinum Album Features the Smash "Wicked Game," Brilliant Singing, and Extraordinary Guitar Tones Experience the Brooding 1989 Record in Definitive Sound: Mobile Fidelity's UltraDisc 180g 45RPM 2LP Box Set Plays with Remarkable Detail and Includes the Bonus Track "Diddley Daddy" There was nothing in contemporary music like Chris Isaak's Heart Shaped World when it hit shelves in June 1989. More than three decades later, the singer-songwriter's third album still sounds unique. Home to the Top 10 smash "Wicked Game," the brooding set remains a masterful mood piece that invites you to pour a late-night drink and relish Isaak's elegant albeit raw ruminations on love, relationships, and questionable decisions. For all the melodrama and sadness at hand, Isaak's baritone dives deep underneath emotional surfaces. He mines subtleties that go beyond heartbreak and anguish, and occasionally suggest frustration, menace, and anger. The contributions of his backing band, anchored by the brilliant playing of guitarist James Calvin Wilsey, seamlessly match his patient deliveries and cool command. Sourced from the original master tapes, pressed at Fidelity Record Pressing, and featuring the bonus track "Diddley Daddy," Mobile Fidelity's UltraDisc One-Step 180g 45RPM 2LP box set of Heart Shaped World unearths the staggering inner details, saturated tones, and extraordinary atmospherics of the crisp production. This demonstration-grade reissue brings you up close and personal with Isaak's spectacular singing - impeccably controlled, tense, brooding, steamy, smoldering, haunted - situated amidst strippeddown backdrops that allow every note to fully bloom and decay. The record's lonesome temperaments and pensive themes have never been more hypnotic on vinyl. As Isaak croons on the title track: "Trouble going down." Indeed.

The Blue Vinyl Edition of the “Communication” LP by Junko Yagami was released on Warner Music Japan and brings this well-known album back to vinyl in a color-accented new pressing. It compiles the striking tracks from the original production and transfers the detailed, polished 1980s sound to the format, with the production and arrangements clearly taking center stage.

Musically, “Communication” moves in the broad field of city pop with influences from soul, boogie, and synth-pop; catchy melodies meet rhythmically precise band arrangements and elegant layers of keyboards. Junko Yagami’s songwriting links Japanese pop traditions with Western-style harmonies, and her voice remains the clear focal point of every track, lending the arrangements warmth and personality.

Sound details and production choices shape the character of the record: producer and head arranger J. J. Stanley is responsible for the overall concept, supported by arrangers such as Shiro Sagisu, Ken Yajima, and Masaaki Oomura. The sessions feature renowned studio musicians, including Jun Aoyama on drums, Masaki Matsubara and Makoto Matsushita on guitar, as well as saxophone contributions from Hidefumi Toki; programming and synthesizer work come from names like Keishi Urata and Hideki Matsutake.

This edition highlights the album’s versatility: from driving pop cuts like “IMAGINATION” and the title track “COMMUNICATION” to more atmospheric moments, the LP showcases Junko Yagami’s feel for production and arrangement and documents a distinctive contribution to mid‑1980s Japanese pop.

As their fifth studio album, "Cosmic Thing" documents their collaboration with producers Nile Rodgers and Don Was and, with tracks such as "Love Shack," "Roam," and "Deadbeat Club," includes several internationally successful singles. Rhino presents a version of this key work of the late 1980s that clearly brings out the band's catchy melodies and crisp arrangements.

Musically, the record is defined by the characteristic vocal interplay between Kate Pierson, Cindy Wilson, and Fred Schneider, complemented by intricate rhythmic structures and extensive use of guitar and keyboard textures. The compilation “La Ola Nocturna Deviant Pop From The Spanish 80's” is released as an LP by Les Disques Bongo Joe, turning its attention to the more experimental side of Spanish pop in the 1980s. The collection features 25 tracks and combines post-punk and new wave with synth wave, darkwave, and experimental forms of electronic music, bringing unusual arrangements and contrasting sonic textures together. With this release, Les Disques Bongo Joe presents a panorama focused less on radio-friendly appeal than on atmospheric disruptions and stylistic boundary-crossing.

The selection documents Spain in transition: between the euphoria of newly won freedoms following the Franco regime and the uncertainties of a rapidly modernizing society. Across the tracks, sparse, dark synthesizer textures emerge alongside jagged guitar riffs and fragmented rhythms, while several experimental electronic productions expand the picture. The “La Ola Nocturna” compilation on Les Disques Bongo Joe offers a concentrated listening experience spanning 25 tracks, highlighting the diversity and boldness of the 1980s Spanish scene in embracing aesthetic deviation.

The “Cover” LP by Tom Verlaine is being released on Rhino, bringing the album, first issued in 1984, back in a vinyl-focused edition. The release puts Verlaine center stage as songwriter and producer: he is responsible for the production and contributes guitar, vocals, and synthesizer.

Musically, “Cover” includes originals such as “Five Miles of You” — which Verlaine co-wrote with Jimmy Ripp — as well as the track “Lindi-Lu,” and its arrangements benefit from a band lineup that brings together Fred Smith on bass, Jay Dee Daugherty on drums, and Jimmy Ripp on guitar; on “Miss Emily,” Bill Laswell is listed as bassist. The recordings were made in 1984 at several studios in New York and London, with engineering by technicians including Dave Jerden. This interplay of compact song structures, precise guitar work, and restrained rhythms characterizes the original album that Rhino is now making available again.

Released on Discom, the LP “Mrak (Beogradski Remek Depo)” by Beograd presents the classic debut album “Remek depo” in a newly issued gatefold sleeve with accompanying photos and complete lyrics. This edition is aimed both at collectors and at listeners who do not yet own the album in its original form, while preserving the restrained design aesthetic of the early 1980s.

Beograd formed in Belgrade in the early 1980s, and on “Remek depo” they combine electronically driven synth pop with elements of soul-oriented horn arrangements; this blend lends the tracks a cool precision and at the same time an unexpected warmth. Characteristic of the band are stripped-down synthesizer lines, sonic clarity, and lyrically assured, at times provocative turns of phrase, as in the track “Mrak.” In this way, the band operates in the tension-filled space between new wave and urban pop.

The recording was overseen by producer Saša Habić, to whom the album owes its tightly structured production; there are also notable guest contributions, such as percussionist Borislav “Bora Longa” Pavićević, saxophonist Paul Pignon, and trumpeter Stjepko Gut, who lend the work its distinctly soulful character. Overall, the LP documents the experimental fusion of electronics and traditional instruments in the Yugoslav scene of the early 1980s.

With the LP “Santa Monica Clear Vinyl Edition,” released on The Bauhaus Label, Gary Numan presents a compelling work that offers a cohesive musical continuation of his previous output.

As a pioneer of synth-pop, Numan has, since the late 1970s, shaped a cool, machine-like sound whose central traits are powerful synthesizers, striking melodies, and a detached vocal delivery.

Songs like “Cars” and the album “The Pleasure Principle” still serve as reference points within his body of work, illustrating how early minimal-synth arrangements connect pop-oriented structures with futuristic imagery.

Numan’s songwriting combines catchy song forms with often dystopian motifs; the productions are based on a combination of analog synthesizers, sequenced bass lines, and carefully placed guitar textures, resulting in a distinctive sonic space that is instantly recognizable. Over the decades he has expanded this core and integrated darker, industrial-inflected elements without abandoning its electronic precision.

This LP focuses squarely on that sound aesthetic: it appeals to listeners who are interested in thoughtfully constructed electronic arrangements, clear melodies, and the ongoing evolution of one of the most influential electronic musicians of the past five decades.

The "Dreamtime" LP by Tom Verlaine is released on Rhino and presents the artist's second solo album from 1981 in an edition that credits Verlaine as producer. On this release, his guitar work is front and center; the album builds its own sonic profile through concise riffs and densely layered guitar textures that connect to his work with Television while at the same time showcasing independent song structures. The participating musicians include Fred Smith on bass, Jay Dee Daugherty on drums, Ritchie Fliegler on second guitar, and Bruce Brody on keyboards; "Breakin' In My Heart" also features a guest appearance by Ricky Wilson.

The material includes striking tracks such as "There's a Reason," "Penetration," and "Always," whose song structures shift between sharp guitar figures and restrained melodies. Verlaine handles vocals, lead guitar, and part of the bass duties, thereby shaping the album's sonic signature; the arrangements and production push the guitar to the forefront while giving individual parts room for characteristic flourishes. With this edition, Rhino presents a documented chapter of Verlaine's solo career that clearly underscores his role as songwriter and guitarist.

The “Point Zero Purple Vinyl Edition” by Junko Ohashi presents the album in a version tailored to the medium on Universal, putting the elegant, urban character of the recordings front and center. The LP brings together concise, groove-focused tracks in which clear bass lines and smooth keyboard textures provide the framework for Junko Ohashi’s vocal lead; the reduction to pointed arrangements makes the melodies and the rhythm stand out in particular.

The recordings were made in New York with U.S. musicians, giving the sound a transatlantic flavor; a striking saxophone solo by David Sanborn underscores the connection to American funk and smooth jazz. The project was produced by Ken Sato and Teruo Nakamura, whose production emphasizes clear spatial definition and clean instrument separation, allowing the vocals and horn section to come across as distinct voices.

Style-wise, Junko Ohashi moves between city pop, boogie, and light funk, with the songs often shifting between danceable drive and melodic restraint. Characteristic of Junko Ohashi are her warm, nuanced voice and her feel for catchy song structures, which in this edition as well create a balance between Japanese pop sensibility and international soul influence.

The “Caifanes” LP by Caifanes is released on Sony and brings together the band’s early, 1980s-influenced sound in a compact long-playing format. Produced by Oscar López together with the band, the record documents the combination of post-punk and new wave influences with distinctly darker, guitar-driven arrangements that give the work a characteristic ’80s aesthetic. The production avoids superfluous effects in favor of a direct, band-centered performance, with Saúl Hernández’s vocals and the rhythmic foundation provided by Alfonso André and Sabo Romo taking center stage.

The release includes notable songs such as “Mátenme porque me muero” and the band’s take on “La negra Tomasa,” which helped establish the album through early singles and are still regarded as reference tracks today. Guest contributions—including Gustavo Cerati’s guitar work on “La bestia humana” and Cachorro López’s Stick playing—complement the band’s sound without overshadowing it. Musical details such as the use of analog keyboards and concise bass lines contribute to the LP’s compact, intense impact; the “Caifanes” LP thus lays the foundation for the group’s later, more richly instrumented albums.

The “Underneath The Colours” LP by INXS is being released on Atlantic Catalog Group, bringing the band’s second studio album back to vinyl in its original track sequence. Originally released in 1981, the album documents a period of transition: compared with the debut, clearer rock arrangements and a noticeable move toward rhythm-focused, funk-infused pop music come to the fore.

Musically, “Underneath The Colours” combines distinctive bass lines, deft guitar work, and synth-supported layers; songs like “Stay Young” and “Night of Rebellion” serve as key reference points that carry the album both melodically and rhythmically. The production leans on dense vocal harmonies and meticulous arranging, allowing individual motifs to stand out more prominently than on earlier recordings.

The studio work was overseen by Richard Clapton, and the cover motif is based on a lino-cut–style image that gives the album its visual identity. The “Underneath The Colours” LP on Atlantic Catalog Group thus offers a carefully presented version of an important early chapter in INXS history and makes the band’s evolution from their New Wave roots toward a more concise rock aesthetic clearly audible on vinyl.

Tom Verlaine, known as a songwriter and guitarist, presents on *Words From The Front* concise, precisely arranged songs that are defined by his characteristic guitar work and a restrained, lyrical vocal line.

Musically, the record combines narrative pieces with sharply etched lead guitar parts and occasional, unexpected melodic turns. Exemplary of this are the title track “Words From The Front,” which delivers insistently narrated, vivid imagery, the slightly off-kilter “Postcard from Waterloo,” and the tightly framed track “Present Arrived.” The production leaves room for the individual instruments and emphasizes Verlaine’s sensitive handling of song structure and tone color. This reissue is part of Rhino’s ongoing efforts to resurface the work from Verlaine’s solo period and make it accessible to a wider audience.

The "Get Close" LP by Pretenders is released on Rhino and brings together the mid-1980s studio recordings on which Chrissie Hynde, as the central songwriter and vocalist, carries the project. Most of the tracks were produced by Bob Clearmountain and Jimmy Iovine; the Jimi Hendrix cover, "Room Full of Mirrors," was produced by Steve Lillywhite. Numerous guest musicians took part in the sessions, including guitarist Robbie McIntosh and keyboardist Bernie Worrell; bass and drum parts come from various session players, giving the record a continually shifting sonic character.

Musically, "Get Close" combines Hynde’s distinctive vocal performance with pop and funk inflections that stand out especially through Worrell’s keyboard work; the album yielded the standout hits "Don't Get Me Wrong" and "My Baby," while the stately "Hymn to Her" reveals a different, more intimate side of the LP. The production relies on clear arrangements and quintessentially 1980s sound aesthetics without overloading the song structures, allowing both the catchy singles and the quieter tracks to find their space. With "Get Close," Pretenders and Rhino present a documented phase of the band’s history in which studio expertise and Hynde’s songwriting craft take center stage.

The “INXS” LP by INXS is released on Atlantic Catalog Group and brings the band’s 1980 debut back into focus. The album documents the early stages of a group shaped in Sydney’s local clubs through a packed live schedule; the original release dates back to October 13, 1980. Featuring “Just Keep Walking,” the band’s first Australian Top 40 hit, the record, together with the other tracks, lays the foundation for INXS’s later international career.

On the album, the band presents itself as a songwriting collective; all tracks are credited to members Garry Gary Beers, Andrew Farriss, Jon Farriss, Tim Farriss, Michael Hutchence, and Kirk Pengilly. The recordings were made in late-night sessions between 1979 and 1980 and were produced jointly by INXS and Duncan McGuire. The album stands for the characteristic Dead or Alive sound: driving dance‑pop arrangements, sharp synthesizer hooks, and the unmistakable voice of Pete Burns, which lends the songs a theatrical sense of drama. Produced in close collaboration with the Stock Aitken Waterman team, it combines catchy pop melodies with Hi‑NRG elements. The production emphasizes punchy rhythms, polished song structures, and a clear club sensibility.

The record brings together well‑known singles such as "Brand New Lover" and "Something in My House" while also showcasing the band’s range between dance‑oriented rarities and pop‑leaning A‑sides. Instrumentally and vocally, Mike Percy, Tim Lever, and Steve Coy shape the sound alongside Burns; additional studio input and remix versions enriched the releases surrounding the album. For listeners who appreciate ’80s synth‑pop and the production aesthetic of Stock Aitken Waterman, this Demon edition offers a well‑rounded representation of that era of Dead Or Alive.

The Clear Green vinyl edition of the “Knee Deep In The Hoopla” LP by Starship is being released on Friday Music Two.

Originally released in 1985, the album marked the project’s commercial breakthrough and yielded two number one singles, “We Built This City” and “Sara,” which catapulted it into the mainstream charts. The track selection combines catchy choruses with radio‑friendly arrangements, making the album a defining example of mid‑’80s AOR/pop rock.

Producer Peter Wolf was responsible for the characteristic sound; the production leans on dense synthesizer textures, clear lead vocals, and a polished studio sound that highlights both guitar work and programmed elements. Key vocal contributions come from Mickey Thomas, complemented by Grace Slick, while Craig Chaquico supplies distinctive guitar parts. The lineup and studio aesthetic firmly anchor the album in the contemporary pop‑rock context.

Musically, this chapter of Starship is defined by melodic hooks, harmonic vocals, and a focus on dense, studio‑crafted production. The tracks balance hit‑oriented song structures with elaborate arrangements, securing the LP’s status as a distinctive release designed for radio play.

The orange vinyl edition of the Sahara 12" by Rie Murakami was released on Vap.
This reissue revisits the early‑80s original material and transfers the warm arrangements onto colored vinyl that accentuates the sunny, slightly playful mood of the recordings.

Musically, the record sits at the intersection of city pop, funk, and soul; layered horn and string arrangements meet supple basslines and laid-back pop melodies. Rie Murakami’s voice conveys a balanced blend of charm and precision, allowing the tracks to unfold both danceable and intimate moments. Songs like “Fall In Love” and “Every Song I Sing” in particular highlight the preference for melodic hooks and sophisticated production work.

Sonically, this edition takes its cues from the label’s archive recordings and benefits from a careful treatment of the master material; the production remains faithful to the opulent yet airy soundscape of the original sessions. The orange vinyl edition thus offers a contemporary way to rediscover Rie Murakami’s distinctive sound—a fusion of playful pop and funky elegance—on vinyl.

The “Fiorella Mannoia” LP by Fiorella Mannoia is being released on Warner Music as a remastered reissue, bringing the self-titled album from the early 1980s back into the present. The edition comprises the 2021 remasters and, on a single LP, restores concise pieces such as “Torneranno gli angeli” and “Il posto delle viole”; the release thus points to the singer’s transition into a phase of major media attention and, style-wise, aligns with the sonic landscape of the 1980s.

Musically, the production remains committed to the contemporary sense of arrangement: the original album was overseen by Mario Lavezzi, who, together with Memmo Foresi, shaped the arrangements and production; contributions from Lele Melotti (drums), Alessandro Centofanti (keyboards), and saxophone parts by Claudio Pascoli and Giorgio Baiocco are credited and underscore the tightly crafted studio arrangements of the recordings. The reissue presents these performances in freshly mixed form and thus offers a focused opportunity to experience the strengths of the songs from that period in a reworked sound.

Released on Mighty Mouth Music, the "Not Responsible" 12" by Dorothy is a four-track EP that encapsulates the project’s 1980s New Wave aesthetic. Dorothy, created by Laurice as a stage persona, appears here as a glamorous, provocative figure, tying this visual character to musically ironic moments that set the tone of the release. With this edition, Mighty Mouth Music offers a concise introduction to the blend of showmanship and pop that defines Dorothy.

Laurice’s signature is unmistakable in the tracks: the exuberant title cut "Not Responsible For Loss Or Damage" is a catchy 1980s-style song about schadenfreude and revenge, while "Sex Bomb" serves as Laurice’s answer to a persistent suitor. "Come Up And See Me Sometime" picks up on famous Mae West lines with a tongue-in-cheek tone, underscoring the production’s theatrical stance. The record closes with a New Wave take on Bacharach and David’s hit "Anyone Who Had A Heart," which lends additional breadth to the EP format. Taken as a whole, "Not Responsible" on Mighty Mouth Music stands out for its consistent role performance and its confident handling of 1980s sounds.

The "Now Presents 12-Inch 80s: Volume Three 1985-1986 Red, Yellow Vinyl Edition Box Set" by various artists on Universal brings together the defining 12" versions from 1985 and 1986 in a five‑LP box set that presents every side of the decade in extended mixes. The compilation comprises 42 selected 12" versions and deliberately focuses on the longer versions produced for clubs and radio, many of which appear on vinyl here for the first time since their original 12" release.

Style-wise, the selection ranges from large‑scale synth pop and dance‑oriented pop to rock anthems; the tracks gain impact through extended intros and breakdowns, driving basslines and the frequently used remix techniques of the era. Prominent remixers and editors such as Shep Pettibone and John "Jellybean" Benitez are represented with characteristic reworks, allowing the box to document the production aesthetics of the eighties in detail.

Highlights include both stadium anthems by Queen and Simple Minds and dance and club classics by Pet Shop Boys, New Order and Whitney Houston; alongside these are pop gems and experimental remixes that broadly explore the spectrum of those years. The edition is aimed at listeners who value the historic long versions and want to trace the character of the 12" era.

The “It’s Alright (I See Rainbows)” LP by Yoko Ono is being released on Secretly Canadian as a black vinyl edition, bringing one of the more accessible chapters of her early-1980s work back to record collections in a remastered form. Originally released in 1982, the album presents Ono as sole songwriter and producer, pairing clear melodies with experimental arrangements; among its best-known tracks are the singles “My Man” and “Never Say Goodbye.”

The reissue brings the production noticeably into focus: synth- and keyboard-driven layers sit alongside organ-like piano parts and percussive details, joined by contributions from notable musicians such as John Lennon on guitar and Tony Levin on bass, as well as Paul Griffin and Paul Shaffer on keyboards. The vocal delivery and background arrangements give the songs a pop-oriented structure, while subtle, unconventional elements preserve the distinctive edge of Ono’s work.

Secretly Canadian rounds out the release with updated artwork and adds two bonus tracks to the CD and digital editions: “Forgive Me, My Love” and a live version of “Dream Love” from Budapest. The black vinyl edition is aimed at collectors and listeners who appreciate the balance between accessible songwriting and artistic experimentation.

“Sowas Von Egal 3 German Synth Wave Underground 1981–1986” by Various Artists on Bureau B brings together a carefully curated selection of rare tracks, most of them originally released in small editions, from the German‑language underground of the early 1980s. Created in collaboration with DJ collective Damaged Goods, the compilation assembles concise, danceable cuts on LP that oscillate between synthpop, post‑punk, and avant‑garde experimentation. Tom Morgenstern handled the mastering; the cover artwork is by Biljana Tomic.

The compilation is characterized by cool, dark soundscapes, minimalist, sometimes angular arrangements, and a pronounced DIY charm. Many songs rely on economical use of synths, striking basslines, and stripped‑down drum patterns, occasionally complemented by unconventional melodic lines or multi‑part vocals. The selection emphasizes tracks that unfold their full impact in a club context, yet remains stylistically broad and documentary in its intent.

Historically, the compilation situates its tracks in a post‑punk era in which independently working bands from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland were searching for new forms of expression. It takes an exploratory approach: forgotten material is made accessible again and placed in a new context, making the LP appealing to both dedicated collectors and curious listeners.

The LP "I Love Retro Disco 80's Volume 2" by V.A. brings together predominantly catchy Europop and disco classics from the 1980s, offering a curated selection of iconic pop and Italo disco acts. The compilation focuses on synth-driven arrangements, striking melodic lines, and choral refrains; on the sleeve you can spot names such as Den Harrow, Gazebo, Sabrina, Rick Astley, Modern Talking, Ivan, and Blue System, covering the spectrum between Italo disco, Euro disco, and radio-friendly pop. The LP is aimed at listeners who appreciate the distinctive fingerprints of the producers and the period-specific studio aesthetic of the original recordings.

Musically, "I Love Retro Disco 80's Volume 2" moves between dance-oriented beats and melodic pop structures; synthetic bass lines meet bright lead synthesizers and multi-part vocals, allowing the tracks to retain their quintessential ’80s character. As a various-artists compilation (V.A.), the LP documents the breadth of that scene: from Italo disco productions with electronic drive to soft pop ballads with a clear focus on the chorus. This makes the release suitable both for collectors of the genre and for listeners who want to bring the sound of the 1980s back onto vinyl.

The “Simple Man” LP by Klaus Nomi is released on Omnivore and brings together his second studio work, originally issued in 1982. The album captures the artist’s distinctive balancing act between pop and classical vocal art, presenting Nomi as a performance artist who transposes his countertenor timbre into an unconventional pop format.

Musically, the work moves between art rock, new wave, disco, and a classical crossover aesthetic: driving synthesizers, off‑kilter rhythms, and a theatrical voice define the tracks. Kristian Hoffman contributed several compositions, including the title track “Simple Man” and “After the Fall,” while Ron Johnsen and Klaus Nomi are credited as producers; arrangements and studio work together shape a sound that accommodates both pop‑leaning and operatic moments.

Defining traits include the surprising stylistic breaks and choice of covers: alongside pop and disco takes on pieces like “Just One Look” and “Ding‑Dong! The Witch Is Dead,” Nomi integrates Baroque‑ and Renaissance‑inspired elements—such as arrangements of John Dowland and Henry Purcell (“Return,” “Death”). Compositions like “Rubberband Lazer” introduce unusual instruments such as pedal steel and violin, underscoring the album’s eclectic approach.

The LP “The Joy Of Sextet” by A Certain Ratio offers a new perspective on the seminal album “Sextet” and is being released as a companion edition on Mute. The record brings together reworked session recordings that have been newly mixed from the original multitrack tapes, presenting familiar pieces in a fresh sonic guise.

Musically, “The Joy Of Sextet” picks up on the characteristic meeting of post‑punk, funk, and dub that defines A Certain Ratio: concise, danceable rhythms, sparse yet effective horn arrangements, and a deep feel for the groove that lends the material its distinctive lightness. Well‑known tracks such as “Lucinda” and “Knife Slits Water” re‑emerge in their new versions, combining dance‑oriented elements with experimental soundscapes.

Key aspects of this edition are the sources of the recordings and the contributors: the pieces stem from the Sextet sessions, recorded in 1981 at Revolution Studios, and were written by A Certain Ratio (Martin Moscrop, Donald Johnson, Jeremy Kerr, Simon Topping, Peter Terrell, and Martha Tilson). The new mix and take on the material was handled by Andrew Meecham (The Emperor Machine), while the original recordings were engineered by Phil Ault. The production preserves the raw energy of the material while bringing out clearer dynamics and new details.

The “Love Addict” 12" by Girls Have Fun, released on Iventi D'azzurro, appears as a transparent ice vinyl edition and brings back a reissued version of the track that first came out in 1987. This pressing presents the single in classic 12" format and places particular emphasis on the variations between the different versions: alongside the original 1987 mix, the record includes an exclusive “BobCat Remix” as well as a dub version, each individually listed on the record.

Musically, “Love Addict” operates in a nu-disco context, drawing on the producer character rooted in Bobby Orlando; the production references Bobby O’s sonic signature and links the song’s historical origins with newly reissued mixes. On this edition, Girls Have Fun use the 12" format to present the different arrangements in a clearly defined, DJ-friendly way. By combining the original mix, dub, and the new BobCat Remix, “Love Addict” showcases both the historic version and a variant adapted for contemporary dance floors, giving this Iventi D'azzurro single clear added value for both collectors and buyers interested in a dancefloor-oriented sound.

The clear orange edition of the "Cut Up" LP by Parade Ground has been released on Vuz and brings the groundbreaking debut of Belgian brothers Jean-Marc and Pierre Pauly back in a compact vinyl edition. Originally released in 1988, "Cut Up" documents the band’s transition from early maxi-singles to a full-length album distinguished by its cool electronics and striking guitar motifs. The record includes tracks such as "Hollywood," "Modern Hunting," "Moans," and "Strange World."

On "Cut Up," Parade Ground appear as a duo: Jean-Marc Pauly handles vocals, guitar, and keyboards, while Pierre Pauly contributes bass, keyboards, percussion, and backing vocals. The album gains particular weight through Colin Newman (Wire), who produced "Moans" and added guitar, synthesizer, and backing vocals to the recording. This collaboration emphasizes the experimental character of the arrangements and the studio-oriented layers of sound.

The clear orange pressing on Vuz is aimed at listeners who value a carefully produced edition; it includes an insert with lyrics and presents the material in analog form. Packed with hit singles such as “Tsugunai” and “Aijin,” plus their B-sides “Waratte Kanpai” and “Ame ni Nurete,” as well as “Midasarete” with its city pop-flavored arrangements, this Taurus-era best album (originally released in 1986) is issued on the revived ultra high-end “100% Pure LP”series. It also includes seven superb re-recorded versions of key tracks from her Polydor years, including “Yoru no feri boto” and “Jerusomina no aruita michi.” In addition, two signature songs released after this album, “Toki no nagare ni mi wo makase” and “Wakare no yokan,” are added as bonus tracks for an unbeatable selection.

“100% Pure LP” is a special Made in Japan product launched in 2012 that drew major attention worldwide as a pioneer of modern high-fidelity vinyl. One of its defining features is the use of uncolored virgin vinyl, eliminating carbon and other coloring agents that can affect sound. By using only pure PVC as the raw material, it significantly improves pressing stability.

Another key feature is the metal master press method. By omitting the usual metal mother and stamper stages and pressing directly from the metal master, it enables overwhelmingly faithful groove formation. Because durability is lower, the pressing quantity is strictly limited.

This release also uses 45 RPM rather than the standard 33 RPM. While it requires a 2LP set due to shorter side lengths, it allows wider, longer grooves and improved rotational stability, offering major advantages in detail reproduction and full-bodied sound.

For audio, DSD files transferred from the original analog master tapes in 2018 are used as the source (the two bonus tracks are sourced from 96kHz/24bit WAV files newly transferred from the original analog tapes in 2025), then mastered as flat as possible to preserve freshness and dynamic range, pursuing a natural and faithful sound.

By thoroughly optimizing every step—from master and vinyl material selection through pressing—“100% Pure LP” brings out the full potential of the record format. It retains analog’s signature punch and warmth while delivering a truly pure, clear sound free of haze and grit.

Doubting all the time. Fearing all the time. Our Darkness descends upon Dark Entries with a reissue of Anne Clark’s epochal proto-house masterpiece from 1984. As a young poet, Clark found herself drawn to London’s emerging punk scene. She became acquainted with Psychic TV affiliate David Harrow, with whom she would collaborate on 1983’s Changing Places and 1984’s Joined Up Writing. “Our Darkness,” off the latter album, was released as a single on Ink Records that same year, and became an underground club hit. It’s a singular piece of music: Clark’s lyrics, delivered with equal parts muscular confidence and unease, speak of urban alienation and heartbreak, while Harrow’s production pummels the listener with hydraulic beats and gloom-laced arpeggios. The song’s spirit would prove influential on both the early Chicago house and Detroit techno scenes, where mechanistic funk and existential despair could catalyse dancefloor mayhem. This reissue offers three versions of “Our Darkness”: the original 12” remix, the Razormaid mix, and a previously unreleased dub version uncovered by David Harrow. Also included is the extended mix of “Sleeper in Metropolis,” another dancefloor hit of Clark’s, as well as the elegiac “Poem for a Nuclear Romance.” The record includes an insert with liner notes and lyrics. “Our Darkness” channels timeless longing and contemporary dismay, a classic overdue for a little light shed upon it.

The colored vinyl edition of the LP "Le Foglie E Il Vento" by Ron was released on Warner Music and comes as a limited orange pressing that presents this classic record in a new collector’s version. The edition brings back the work, first released in 1992, in striking form and gathers the ten tracks of the original, including its best-known piece, "Non Abbiam Bisogno Di Parole."

The album marks a milestone in Ron’s career as a singer-songwriter; the arrangements were overseen by Greg Walsh and the production handled by Roberto Dané, giving the material a well-balanced, song-focused blend of intimacy and orchestral breadth. Ron’s voice and his melodic approach to songwriting are at the center, carried by clear guitar lines, sparse keyboard arrangements, and strings used subtly that give the songs room to unfold.

Lyrically, the album moves between personal reflections and atmospheric imagery; songs like "Sabato Animale" and the title track combine delicate melodies with memorable choruses. The reissue on colored vinyl puts this phase of Ron’s work back in the spotlight and makes the tracks accessible both to longtime listeners and to those discovering his music for the first time.

Saifam is releasing the LP "Ne Approfitto Per Fare Un Po' Di Musica" as a white 180-gram LP in a limited, numbered edition of 300 copies; this reissue brings the artist’s live set back to vinyl in this form for the first time.

Sergio Caputo has secured a firm place at the intersection of pop and jazz as a songwriter, guitarist, and performer; his vocal style blends ironic lyrical truth with melodic lightness, while the arrangements often show echoes of Latin and jazz rhythms. The pieces collected here reflect the artist’s stage presence and emphasize the balance between catchy melodies and instrumental sophistication. The album’s repertoire underscores Caputo’s role as a storyteller of small everyday tales, rendered with refined musical sensitivity.

The selection includes classics such as "Il Garibaldi Innamorato," "Spicchio di Luna," and "Un Sabato Italiano," and captures the sound of the Sergio Caputo Quintet with distinctive horns, piano, and guitar work. Alongside Caputo, musicians such as Stefano Sabatini (piano, keyboards), Michele Ascolese (guitar), and Claudio Mastracci (drums) shape the live sound, which stands out for its subtle horn arrangements and warm band tone. This LP thus offers a documentary snapshot of a formative phase of his career.

The "Out Of Order Delphi Remix" 12" by Caroline Vita / Delphi was released on Mondo Groove. On this split release, a rediscovered Italo gem from the early eighties meets a contemporary reworking: the A-side features the remix crafted by DELPHI, while the B-side offers the original 1983 recording. The release brings together historical source material and modern dancefloor aesthetics and positions itself within the current wave of Italian rediscoveries.

The remix presents Delphi as a bridge between classic Italo groove and electronic club culture; his approach combines Italo funk elements with influences from early New Jersey freestyle beats and cleanly arranged synth hooks. Caroline Vita’s vocals, originally conceived for television performances of the time, gain rhythmic definition through the reworking, while the instrumental structure is modernized and tailored for DJ sets.

On a technical level, the 12" presents the track in a DJ‑friendly length, supplemented by the historical version as a counterpoint to the remix take on. With this release, Mondo Groove continues its line of making rare recordings from Italian archives accessible again, while at the same time highlighting remix culture as part of the reconstruction of popular club traditions.

The “Resistance Black Vinyl Edition” by Borghesia is released as an LP on Matrix Music Arhiv (Mma), bringing the material from the album “Resistance” into your collection on black vinyl. The record gathers the band’s denser, sequence‑driven electronic arrangements and emphasizes stoic rhythms, concise synth textures, and direct, politically tinged lyrics.

Formed in Ljubljana in the early 1980s, Borghesia are regarded as defining figures of the electronic underground scene of the former Yugoslavia; their style sits at the intersection of Electronic Body Music, industrial, and dark pop. Hallmarks include the group’s theatrical origins, the use of taut keyboard arrangements, and a penchant for morbid‑sounding beats and sample‑based passages that underscore the songs’ protest character. Core members such as Dario Seraval and Aldo Ivančič shape the band’s sonic identity.

This edition on Matrix Music Arhiv is part of a series of archival reissues aimed at making key documents of the scene accessible again. Musically, “Resistance” is characterized by its sober production, clear song structures, and an immediate, unwavering stance that sets Borghesia apart from many of their contemporaries. For listeners who appreciate the interplay of cool electronics and resolute lyricism, this vinyl offers a documentary slice of its era.

The 12" “Invisible Transparent Green Vinyl Edition” by Patrol, released on Iventi D'azzurro, brings a classic Italo disco single back in a new guise and is aimed at collectors and DJs alike. The release brings together the long-cherished A-side and the well-known club version, putting the focus on melodic synth lines, punchy drum-machine rhythms, and catchy choruses that underscore the production’s traditional Italo character.

Musically, the track combines atmospheric synths with pop-oriented harmonies; the vocal delivery carries a blend of longing and detached observation, thematically centering on interpersonal dynamics and inner unrest. The structure of the arrangement creates room both for dancefloor-ready moments and for more understated passages, allowing the single to work equally well in the club and in a home-listening context.

Key production details point to the recording’s roots in the 1980s: the original release came out on Panarecord, the tracks were arranged, among others, by Claudio Barluzzi and Rilly; Angela Parisi and Antonella Pepe contributed backing vocals, and Pier Rossini served as recording engineer. The reissue on Iventi D'azzurro places the work within the canon of re-released Italo gems and makes the track physically accessible again on transparent green vinyl.

The “Peel Session And Radio Broadcast 84–85 Pink Vinyl Edition” by Bronski Beat brings together studio recordings and broadcast radio versions from the band’s early period, with a focus on the sessions made for John Peel and other BBC shows. The LP thus offers historically significant material from around 1984/85, when the trio was attracting widespread attention with singles such as “Smalltown Boy.”

Bronski Beat is characterized by a blend of synthetic dance music and striking melodies; Jimmy Somerville’s distinctive falsetto contrasts with driving synthesizer arrangements and clear, instantly memorable rhythms. In their lyrics they addressed socio-political themes in direct language, which helped define their position within 1980s pop culture. This stylistic classification is based on the documented history of the band and their early releases.

Key features of this compilation include the live-in-the-studio character of the Peel recordings and their chronological placement before the lineup change that took place in 1985; the versions often differ from the album takes in terms of arrangement and density, presenting the group in an immediate, radio-ready performance context. For listeners, the Outsider LP thus offers a focused look at a formative phase of the project.

The LP "Cerchi" by Patty Pravo is being reissued by Universal as colored, numbered vinyl, bringing this 1982 work back into the spotlight for an international audience.

The album was created during a period she spent in the United States and recorded at the Automatt Studio in San Francisco; the record was produced by David Kahne. "Cerchi" brings together eight tracks in Italian, English, and French and marks a phase in which Nicoletta Strambelli (Patty Pravo) turned more decisively toward rock and new wave influences. Many songs were created in collaboration with guitarist Paul Martinez, and some of the Italian lyrics were adapted by Maurizio Monti.

Musically, "Cerchi" is characterized by jagged guitars, electronic touches, and punchy rhythms that place Pravo’s versatile voice front and center. The recordings and arrangements draw on elements of funk, hints of reggae, and electronic sounds, giving the album nuances that stand out on an international level. The personnel credits include, among others, Randy Jackson on bass, Frank Martin on keyboards, and Jack Johnson on guitar, all of whom add extra depth to the sound.

2LP set capturing The Police's live performance in Tokyo in 1981.

Formed in London in 1977, The Police comprised drummer Stewart Copeland, guitarist Andy Summers, and frontman/bassist Sting. Emerging from the British new wave scene, they fused punk energy with reggae rhythms and pop melodies to craft a distinctive sound that came to define the late ’70s and early ’80s. The band earned global acclaim, collecting multiple Grammy Awards, selling over 75 million records, and establishing an enduring legacy as one of the most influential bands of the era.

The Police were in the midst of their second world tour when they recorded and released Zenyatta Mondatta in 1980. The tour was an ambitious 84-date journey that began in July 1980 in England, and concluded in February 1981 in Australia. It was a resounding success, showcasing the band at their live best, with tightly honed musicianship and electrifying performances night after night. A highlight of the tour was the band's appearance at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, Japan, on 2nd February 1981. The show was recorded for local radio, and is now presented in full on this new 2LP set for the first time.

2LP LTD VINYL REPRESS ON TRANSPARENT GREEN VINYL

Compiled by Philip King
“And then came the rise of synth pop : blokes with dodgy haircuts hunched over keyboard-operated
machines stuffed with wires and do-it-yourself tone oscillators making sounds like a brood of geese
passing gas in a wind tunnel. Whoopee! This is the way the ‘70s ended : not with a blood-curdling bang
bang but with a cheap, synthesized, emasculating whimper.”
NICK KENT, NME.

All The Young Droids: Junkshop Synth Pop 1978-1985 is a new compilation that charts the
underbelly of the epoch-defining sound of the synthesiser in 80s popular music. Compiled by Philip
King (previously seen compiling All The Young Droogs, Glitterbest and Boobs - The Junkshop
Glam Discotheque), the music here connects the dots between DIY synth enthusiasts grappling with
new, cheap synthesisers at the tail-end of punk and wannabe, jobbing songwriters enthral to the new
music pioneered by Gary Numan, Depeche Mode and Daniel Miller’s Mute Records. Featuring rare
tracks of auto-didactic progressive pop music, proto-techno punk, shoot-for-the-stars-land-in-the-gutter
chart flops and heralded, underground synth classics, School Daze paints a picture of beautiful failure.
Complete with extensive sleeve notes written by King and never before seen imagery, all 24 tracks
were remastered by RPM in-house engineer Simon Murphy, many from vinyl copies due to lost master
tapes. The story told on All The Young Droids is one of the dawning opportunity presented by both the
emergence to the market of cheaper analog synthesisers and the distribution networks plus indie labels
that exploded with the advent of punk music in 1976. While the music that sprouted out all over the
globe in the wake of these factors was decried as fake, plastic, a refutation of punk’s guitar-led
revolution, it’s telling that much of the music on All The Young Droids.. was created in bedrooms,
ramshackle studios and home-made set ups with often borrowed equipment. In the era of record labels
jumping to capitalise on the success of The Sex Pistols, The Clash (both on major labels, of course)
these artists struggled to stand out from a new gold-rush with next to no budget or PR team. With radio
and labels desperate for the new Yazoo, what resulted was a testament to necessity being the mother
of invention.

At the time, the synthesiser was the music of the future, a shiny new machine that could paint like an
orchestra with a single finger and a 4-track. In the hands of Manchester avant-pranksters Gerry & The
Holograms it’s a pulsing, sardonic weapon.. the only instrument on the Messthetics classic lampooning
of New Wave fashion. In Hamburg, a 16 year old Andreas Dorau used it to write and record (with his
female classmates on vocals) a global smash in Fred Vom Jupiter (later licensed to Mute Records).
The hard-to-find English version (Fred From Jupiter, natch) is included here. Many artists with alreadystoried careers caught the bug and recorded synthesiser-fuelled peons to space, computers, the future
and, of course, love-interests. Harry Kakoulli, late of Squeeze, recorded a solo album in 1979 that
included the incredible power-synth-pop smash-that-never-smashed I’m On A Rocket. Similarly, Ian
North of Neo and American Power Pop stalwarts Milk ’n’ Cookies bought a Korg MS20 and used a
tape machine to record We’re Not Lonely, an absolute lost-classic of minimal synth pop. We’re Not
Lonely also features on the Junkshop Synth Pop sampler 7” twinned with John Howard unreleased
track You Will See, released April 12th 2025.

There are plenty of compilation debuts in evidence. Sole Sister were a mysterious trio who were
featured on the Scaling Triangles compilation of female-fronted, queer-adjacent post-punk /
underground music that also featured The Petticoats. Selwin Image were from San Francisco and
featured members of the recently defunct power pop/punk group The Pushups. Their stupidly catchy
The Unknown fizzes with New Wave energy - think XTC to Sparks but remains unreleased until now.
Dream Unit’s A Drop In The Ocean is an early synth wave cut, positively teaming with Joy Division
instrumentation, previously only released on a long-forgotten and super rare, self-released EP.
Incandescent Luminaire’s Famous Names belies an archetypal struggle of a small-town trying to
make it in a cruel industry but is a thrilling New Romantic-Synth Wave cross over with a OMD
gloominess that’s a joy to hear. Feminist Minimal Wave track I Am A Time Bomb by performance artist
Peta Lilly and Michael Chance is a revelation destined for new found cult status. It was released on 7”
and lost until now.

The flipside to the subterranean, never-made-it synth pop mentioned above are the ambitious, even
fruity attempts at success that have a perennial elegance to their confidence. New Jersey-ite Billy
London (real name Ed Barth) tried to cash in on the synth boom with Woman, released by a major
label, a lurching new wave track built on the Louie Louie rhythm and a wonderfully camp Lou Reedstyle sleazy vocal before exploding in the synthesised chorus. The song bombed but with a chorus like
this, you have to wonder why? Ex-Glitter Band member John Springate’s My Life is truly epic, with
doomed chord progressions and massive sounding drums turning into at least 3 different songs in the
course of the track. Before you wonder what’s going on the song resolves with a glorious return to the
main refrain.

The dry-ice-dressed dance floor is well catered for too. Design’s Premonition and Vision’s Lucifer’s
Friend are stone-cold minimal synth bangers, well loved but given a new lease of life here. The
Warlord’s The Ultimate Warlord was released in 1978, a homespun proto Hi NRG banger that was
later re-recorded by The Immortals in Canada who had a club hit with it. One-man- band Disco
Volante’s No Motion was re-issued by Synth wave label Medical in 2012 but makes its first vinyl
compilation appearance here. Close your eyes and you can imagine what Lawrence of Felt would have
sounded like with some cheap Korgs a little earlier in his career. Gibraltar-based trio The Microbes
imagined a computer programming people to dance - how prescient - and ended up with a propulsive,
robo-funk track with splendid rubbery bass playing over a tectonic drum machine. Previously picked up
by Belgian label Stroom TV, Dee Jay Bert & Eagle’s heavily Euro-accented I Am Your Master
demands the listener to “come to paradise!” In a frankly terrifying manner.
All The Young Droids is the first compilation to peel away from the narrative that dour, Minimal Synth
and Cold Wave were the only musical children of the first rush of synth pop. Philip King and School
Daze Records describe a much more complicated world: along with the austere, Brutalist children of
Daniel Miller (who produced Alan Burnham’s Bowie-Low-influenced Science Fiction here) was a
plethora of desperate cash-ins, accidental mainstream hits, ambitious pop dramas and major label
punts that went nowhere. Crucially, the compilation blurs the line between junk and treasure. What if the
two things are interchangeable. What if it’s all science fiction?

Stevie Nicks Sings for the Things Money Can't Buy on Rock a Little: Platinum Album Features Extravagant Production, Includes the Hit Singles 'Talk to Me' and 'I Can't Wait' Mobile Fidelity's 180g 45RPM 2LP Set Presents the 1985 Record in Audiophile Sound for the First Time: 40th Anniversary Reissue Plays with Exceptional Balance, Dimensionality, and Clarity Looking back on her career in the early 90s, Stevie Nicks described the first track of Rock a Little as 'the most exciting song that I had ever heard.' This coming from a superstar who was already closely affiliated with several bajillion-selling Fleetwood Mac albums - to say nothing of her own benchmark solo debut. Her remarks attest to the enthusiasm and effort she invested in her third record, a 1985 work that quickly furthered Nicks' profile and cemented itself as a piece of 80s pop lore. Mastered at MoFi's California studio, pressed at Fidelity Record Pressing in California, strictly limited to 4,000 numbered copies, and housed in a Stoughton gatefold jacket, Mobile Fidelity's 180g 45RPM 2LP set presents Rock a Little in audiophile sound in celebration of it's 40th anniversary. Recorded for a reported one million dollars, the platinum-certified album teems with a head-spinning array of colors, tones, dreamscapes, and accents. This reissue marks the first time they are brought to light and conveyed with proper balance, dimensionality, and positioning. Nicks and company spare no expense when it comes to distinguishing the music with expansive sonics. The degrees of spaciousness, headroom, and dynamics are nothing less than inspiring. As for Nicks' voice? Wait 'til you experience the transparency and depth. So, rock a little, yes, but dare to feel even more. 1/4' / 15 IPS Dolby A analog copy to DSD 256 to analog console to lathe Numbered 180g 45RPM Vinyl 2LP LIMITED EDITION OF 4,000 Track List Side One: I Can't Wait Rock a Little (Go Ahead Lily) Side Two: Sister Honey I Sing for the Things Imperial Hotel Side Three: Some Become Strangers Talk to Me The Nightmare Side Four: If I Were You No Spoken Word Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You
