The A-side features a version of “Rejoice In Righteousness” that channels the spiritually tinged groove of late‑1980s jazz dance; the B-side, “Mighty Righteous,” complements the pair with an equally organic, driving flip, making the single function as a compact statement of the project.

The sound is characterized by warm organ tones, stripped-down drum patterns, and a strong emphasis on groove and timing; stylistically, the release moves between jazz, funk, and club-ready soul, with the rough demos, originally recorded in lo-fi, deliberately retained to lend the material an authentic patina. Limited blue vinyl LP pressing. Magic Sam a/k/a Sam Maghett was a revolutionary guitarist and one of Chicago's legendary West Side natural blues players. A Mississippi native, the self taught musician would move to Chicago in 1950, playing small clubs and making a name for himself in short order. His uncle acclaimed bluesman Shakey Jake a/k/a James Harris, would get Sam set up in the burgeoning nightclub circuit, eventually playing between sets with major blues greats like Muddy Waters. As his local reputation as a solid blues guitarist would take hold, he signed a deal with Cobra Records as he kicked things off with the stellar double sided blues hit single "All Your Love" and "Love Me With A Feeling" in 1957. More blues belters followed like "All Night Long." As he was beginning to achieve sales and national attention, he was drafted into the army. Upon his return, he moved over to Mel London's Chief Records label, where he followed up with great blues rockers like "Square Dance Part One" "My Love Is Your Love" "Do The Camel Walk" and a stunning cover of Fats Domino's "Every Night About This Time." He would go on to release more solid recordings for Chief and Crash Records, as well as a super rare single "Respect Me Baby" with Shakey Jake into the mid-sixties. Towards the end of the decade, Sam was truly gaining much acclaim by playing bigger venues and blues festivals, but as fate would have it, Magic Sam suffered a heart attack and his brilliance was silenced in 1969. Today, Magic Sam is revered internationally and considered one of the founders of the West Side Guitar blues sound. His music is second to none, as witnessed with this incredible collection of his finest sides from the Cobra, Chief, Crash and Paula Records era.

“Jesus Hits Like The Atom Bomb: Gospel Quartet Singing In Jefferson County, Alabama” by The Sterling Jubilee Singers is being released as a cassette tape on Death Is Not The End and documents a historic rehearsal recording originally produced by the Alabama Folklife Association. The recording comes from a rehearsal at the Straight Place in Bessemer on April 20, 1994, and is issued with extensive liner notes that describe the circumstances of its creation.

The Sterling Jubilee Singers were founded in 1929 and are deeply rooted in the Jefferson County tradition of a cappella quartet singing; their origins in the steel and mining communities and their training under local singing masters shape both their vocal style and their repertoire. The album was recorded at Galloway Studio in Nijmegen with Sebastiaan van Bijlevelt; the band spent a long time working on the arrangements and eventually went into the studio with the goal of capturing their live feel. Within a short time the eleven tracks were in the can, including their first-ever cover: "Just A Man" by Los Lobos. Unnecessary overdubs were largely avoided, which is why the recordings come across as very direct and authentic.

Guest musicians add extra colors: Martijn "Tinez" van Toor blows vintage saxophones on three songs, and Thijs Schrijnemakers contributes subtle keyboard parts. The horn and keyboard parts are kept more in a supporting role and complement the fundamental guitar foundation that defines the sound of Black Bottle Riot.

The visual concept comes from Bas Meeuws; the artwork plays around the sleeve as a modern still life, complemented by band photos by Maaike Ronhaar as well as hand-crafted screen-print elements by Yorick de Vries. With this recording, Simon, Mike, Jaap and Mark shape a mature, song-oriented rock & soul record.

Vinyl LP pressing. John Lee Hooker, known as "The King of the Boogie" and "the Boogie Man", was a true Blues icon. Quality rather than quantity is the key to Hooker's singular success. He did not have a huge number of hits in the R&B chart, but those that did make a major impact would provide some of the key musical architecture for future blues and rock artists. When he came to prominence in the late '40s, he was playing blues in a way that was regarded as somewhat spare, his dark repetitive vocals supported only by his amplified guitar and his stamping foot. His was no overnight stardom. Having paid his dues over many years, once he started recording, he did so prolifically. Hot Number was originally released in 1987 and made the top fifty on the Billboard Album Chart - The T-Birds supported the album by touring the USA with Crosby, Stills & Nash - The album was the second one by the band under their new Sony record deal - Once again, it was produced by Dave Edmunds who also contributed on guitar and vocals. It was recorded at Ardent Studio in Memphis featuring Kim Wilson, Jimmie Vaughan, Preston Hubbard and Fran Christina with Dave Edmunds on guitar and vocals, Chuck Leavell on keyboards plus the Memphis Horns adding their unique touch, leading one reviewer to describe it as "sweaty, grimy, bar-room rock 'n' soul". This re-issue is one of the eight (blue) vinyl editions scheduled for release in 2026 that represent the band's complete studio recordings with Jimmie Vaughan on guitar before he left to pursue a solo career.

Produced by Dave Edmunds, this album successfully aimed the band in a more mainstream direction than the four commercially released albums that had preceded it when the single Tuff Enuff hit number ten in the Billboard Top 100 singles chart. The track was featured in the films Gung Ho and Tough Guys, as was the follow-up single Wrap It Up. With Kim Wilson on vocals and harmonica, Jimmie Vaughan on guitar and Fran Christina on drums, it was the first studio recorded album to be released with Preston Hubbard replacing Keith Ferguson on bass.
