Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous is Big L's debut album and the only album released during his lifetime. It was released on March 28, 1995, through Columbia Records and is now widely regarded as one of the defining underground hip-hop albums of the 1990s. Although it received critical acclaim for its lyricism, the album achieved only modest commercial success upon release. Born Lamont Coleman in Harlem, New York, Big L first gained recognition through freestyle battles and as a member of the legendary Diggin' in the Crates Crew (D.I.T.C.). After being discovered by Lord Finesse, he signed with Columbia Records in 1993 and recorded the album between 1992 and 1994.

The production was primarily handled by D.I.T.C. affiliates including Lord Finesse, Buckwild, Showbiz, and Craig Boogie. Built around classic boom bap drums and soulful samples, the album's stripped-back production provides the perfect backdrop for Big L's intricate rhyme schemes, sharp punchlines, and effortless flow. Guest appearances include Lord Finesse, Grand Daddy I.U., Herb McGruff, Party Arty, as well as early career performances from Jay-Z and Cam'ron. In particular, "Da Graveyard," featuring a young Jay-Z, has become one of the album's most celebrated tracks.

Lyrically, Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous explores themes of street life, battle rap, dark humor, and clever wordplay. Big L became known for his multisyllabic rhymes, vivid storytelling, and razor-sharp punchlines, establishing himself as one of the most technically gifted MCs of his generation. Standout tracks such as "Put It On," "M.V.P.," "Danger Zone," "Street Struck," and the title track remain fan favorites. "A Different Kinda Rapper" is the definitive collection of Brooklyn MC Yah Supreme, an artist whose name has long remained one of New York's best-kept underground secrets. Far removed from commercial trends, Yah Supreme and longtime producer Cave Precise crafted a distinctive sound built on dusty boom-bap drums, rich jazz and soul influences, and thoughtful, progressive lyricism. The album brings together nine previously unreleased recordings dating back to 1995 alongside every official 12" release through 2000 (including all original instrumental versions). For the first time, this body of work is presented as a complete document of an overlooked creative era.

Three of the unreleased tracks feature fellow MC Technique, while vocalist Julia Wilson adds soulful warmth to one standout recording, expanding the album's musical palette without losing its raw underground identity. Completing the authentic presentation, the artwork features original 1990s photography by James Petrozzello, with the final design created by Cors One, capturing the visual language of the golden age.

*Reasonable Doubt* is Jay-Z’s debut album, released on June 25, 1996, via Roc-A-Fella Records. Although the album was not a major commercial success upon its release, it has since evolved into one of the most influential and highly regarded hip-hop albums of all time. To this day, many critics and fans consider it Jay-Z’s best work, as it offers a particularly authentic glimpse into his reality and mindset.

In terms of content, *Reasonable Doubt* explores themes such as ambition, success, money, loyalty, betrayal, and the moral conflicts inherent in street life. Nu Genea's Bar Mediterraneo is an idea of a shared place where people meet and fuse together; a space that leaves its doors open to travellers and their lives, always exposed to the whims of fate. Some of this can be experienced through the multitude of sounds that come together in the tracks, layers of different acoustic instruments, voices and synthesizers merging in a unique musical blend. Opening up to the voices of many different people, separated by languages but united by the sea and the music, Nu Genea's hometown, Napoli, becomes a true place of encounter. You can hear this all along. In "Gelbi", a gorgeously deep and propulsive Ney flute plunges into murky waters of the melancholic Tunisian dialect sung by Marzouk Mejri. In "Marechia'", unbridled happiness and sun ooze from the delicate vocals of Célia Kameni and create an acrobatic bridge between French and Neapolitan language. In "Straniero", your soul is arrested from the moment the slow spell-binding mandolin ignites the hypnotic patterns recorded by the legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen. Originally released in 1998, "Bomb M.C." is the only full-length album by Los Angeles underground outfit The Colored Section. Comprised of Coke, Che'ski and DJ Homicide, the group crafted a distinctive sound that stood apart from the dominant trends of the era. Rooted in classic boom-bap yet enriched with off-kilter rhythms, dusty samples and understated grooves, the album balances raw energy with remarkable musical sophistication.

Much of the production was handled by Coke, formerly associated with Mad Kap, whose ear for stripped-back yet deeply effective beats gives the record its unique identity. Rather than chasing radio appeal, The Colored Section embraced originality, sharp lyricism and a laid-back West Coast sensibility that resonated strongly within the independent Hip-Hop community.

1st Down emerged in the mid-1990s as a duo consisting of MC Phat Kat and producer Jon Doe, the future J Dilla; the project signed a deal with Payday Records, recorded an album, and released a single before the label folded and the full-length initially went unreleased. This edition now presents the early combinations of raw rhymes and purist beats in their entirety.

Musically, the album documents the raw, down-to-earth aesthetic of 1990s Detroit hip-hop: concise funk- and soul-based samples, stripped-down drum patterns, and a focus on groove and flow shaped by the collaboration between Phat Kat and a young J Dilla. The release falls in line with previously issued demo editions and EP compilations and puts J Dilla’s early productions front and center, without any retrospective reworking.

Slick Rick, born Ricky Martin Lloyd Walters, is a British‑American hip‑hop artist who rose to prominence as part of Doug E. Fresh & The Get Fresh Crew in the mid 80s. Their songs “La Di Da Di” and “The Show” are widely regarded as early hip‑hop classics. His debut album, The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, featuring the signature track “Children’s Story,” was released in 1988.

Behind Bars is the third studio album by Slick Rick, released in 1994 on Def Jam Recordings. It peaked at #51 on the Billboard 200 and #11 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip‑Hop Albums chart. The album was recorded while Rick was on furlough from prison, with some tracks built around vocals recorded years earlier. Additional recording took place during a 1993 work‑release period.

CASE STUDY 01 is the second studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Daniel Caesar, released on June 28, 2019, through his independent label Golden Child Recordings. Following the critical and commercial success of Freudian (2017), the album represents a significant artistic evolution, expanding both Caesar's sound and lyrical scope. While Freudian focused primarily on love, relationships, and spirituality, CASE STUDY 01 turns inward, exploring themes of identity, fame, philosophy, mortality, and the search for meaning. Blending contemporary R&B, neo-soul, gospel, psychedelic soul, and alternative R&B, the album showcases a more experimental and introspective approach.

The title CASE STUDY 01 reflects Caesar's intention to examine his own thoughts, emotions, and experiences as though they were part of a personal experiment. The album opens with "Entropy," which features a quote from physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer and introduces ideas of chaos, impermanence, and the unpredictable nature of life. Throughout the record, Daniel Caesar combines philosophical reflections with deeply personal songwriting, creating a project that feels more conceptual and exploratory than its predecessor.

Musically, CASE STUDY 01 broadens Caesar's sonic palette. After touring the world looking for sounds suitable for their vibrations, NU GUINEA decided to go back to square one, Napoli, where Massimo Di Lena and Lucio Aquilina were born and raised. They watched their city from a distance reconstructing its energy from their studio in Berlin, calibrating the synths on the meridian of Vesuvius, the volcano that has always protected and threatened Napoli.
NUOVA NAPOLI is the result of a long musical research that has become a historical investigation on the sound that shaped Napoli during the ‘70s and ‘80s, starting from the contamination of genres (disco, jazz-funk, African rhythms) which ended up in Nu Guinea’s DNA.
In this album the synthesizers fill the spaces between the past and the future, tightening in a single body acoustic instruments, electronics and voices in Neapolitan dialect. It is the first time that the duo has worked with such a large group of musicians, some of whom are exponents of the contemporary Neapolitan scene.

The “Gravest Gravy Mustard Vinyl Edition” by The Cramps brings together early and previously unreleased recordings made during sessions with Alex Chilton. The compilation includes early versions of well-known songs as well as several cover versions, among them takes on Paul Revere and the Raiders and Roy Orbison, alongside early studio variants that later appeared on the album “Psychedelic Jungle.” The production of the sessions stems from the collaboration with Alex Chilton, which emphasizes the raw character of the takes.

Musically, the LP displays the band’s characteristic traits: a fusion of 1950s rockabilly with garage, surf, and punk influences, combining simple, driving rhythms with distorted guitars and striking vocal lines. This blend defines the group’s specific sound and explains why early versions and unusual arrangements are of particular interest to collectors and listeners.

The revived Vengeance label is responsible for this edition; the final versions of the tracks were also reviewed and finalized by Ian MacKaye and Henry Rollins. The “Mustard Vinyl Edition” underscores the historical value of these recordings and presents them as a documentary addition to the band’s body of work, with the LP format preserving the material in its original physical form.

After many, many years of waiting, it is finally back on vinyl. It is now available as a new European pressing, said to be superior to the US version.

Reasonable Doubt is Jay-Z’s debut album, released on June 25, 1996, via Roc-A-Fella Records. Although the album was not a major commercial success upon its release, it has since evolved into one of the most influential and highly regarded hip-hop albums of all time. To this day, many critics and fans consider it Jay-Z’s best work, as it offers a particularly authentic glimpse into his reality and mindset.

In terms of content, Reasonable Doubt explores themes such as ambition, success, money, loyalty, betrayal, and the moral conflicts inherent in street life. However, Jay-Z does not merely glorify his experiences as a drug dealer; he also reveals the psychological toll, doubts, and consequences associated with that lifestyle. This gives the album a much more reflective and multi-layered quality than many other rap releases of that era. Jay-Z himself later explained that writing the lyrics felt like a therapy session, as it allowed him to process his own experiences and inner conflicts.

Musically, the album is heavily influenced by the New York East Coast hip-hop sound of the 1990s. Jazz and soul samples, understated boom-bap beats, and elegant production by the likes of DJ Premier, Ski, Clark Kent, and Big Jaz create an atmospheric backdrop for Jay-Z’s calm yet technically sophisticated rapping style. His lyrics are characterized by complex rhyme schemes, wordplay, and numerous double meanings, ensuring the album reveals new details even after repeated listens.

Standout tracks include “Can’t Knock the Hustle” (featuring Mary J. Blige), “Dead Presidents II,” “D’Evils,” and “Brooklyn’s Finest” (featuring The Notorious B.I.G.). …as well as “Regrets,” which serves as a contemplative conclusion to the album, addressing the emotional consequences of the lifestyle described. “D’Evils,” in particular, is considered one of the album’s most striking tracks, as it powerfully depicts the destructive impact of greed and power.

Today, Reasonable Doubt is regarded as a milestone in hip-hop history. The album has since received numerous accolades and was inducted into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame. Its influence extends far beyond Jay-Z’s own career, shaping generations of rappers. Above all, the combination of autobiographical content, sophisticated lyrics, and high-quality production makes Reasonable Doubt one of the most significant and widely discussed rap albums of all time.
