Another Day on Earth (2005) was Brian Eno’s first song-based album since Nerve Net in 1992, and remains one of his most acclaimed solo records. It featured a young Jon Hopkins alongside long-standing collaborators Nell Catchpole, J. Peter Schwalm and Leo Abrahams, with lyrics co-written by Michel Faber and Danny Hillis. The album was launched with a public conversation between Eno and the writer Michael Bracewell at the Marble Palace in St Petersburg and its cover photograph was taken by Eno himself in Beijing, during his first Chinese audio installation in the city’s Ritan Park. Following Warner Bros’ purchase of Hannibal Records in 2006, the licence for Another Day on Earth lapsed in 2008 and the album has been unavailable outside Japan ever since. Its absence has not dimmed its following: the track ‘And Then So Clear’ has racked up more than two million streams on YouTube despite never having an official release and songs from the album, including ‘And Then So Clear’, ‘Caught Between’, ‘Bottomliners’ and ‘Bonebomb’, have surfaced in Eno’s rare live performances, including alongside his brother Roger at the Acropolis in 2022, with Icebreakers at Brighton Festival in 2010, and with a 45-piece orchestra on the 2023 Ships tour.

Drawn From Life, originally released on Virgin Records in 2001, was a full collaboration between Brian Eno and J. Peter Schwalm, the two having met through Eno’s longtime friend Rolf Engel. It will carry that joint billing for the first time. The album featured Holger Czukay, Laurie Anderson, Nell Catchpole and Leo Abrahams, and was supported by a tour taking in Porto and Lanzarote before a headline appearance at Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival. The rights to Drawn From Life reverted to Opal when Citigroup acquired EMI and the album has not been available since. Eno and Schwalm’s partnership also produced the score to Fear X, an early film from Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, Bronson) starring John Turturro and Deborah Kara Unger, and the Japan-only release Music for Onmyo-ji. The 2026 reissue will be available across all formats and includes the bonus track ‘Bloom (Instrumental)’.

The exciting new quartet of Berlin and London’s most creative improvisers delivers a debut EP portunes that luxuriates in the spacious rural landscape in which it was created and the intuitive freedom found between a first-time meeting of musicians. “This project is the record of four of us coming together and delving into emotions and atmospherics without a clear goal,” al.so keyboardist Moses Yoofee says. “We were exploring space rather than locking anything into a rhythmic or grid structure. All of it is the product of being in the same room together, being free to follow where the music takes us.” First brought together as part of a curated opening lineup for the 2022 edition of Berlin’s Xjazz Festival, al.so is German Jazz Prize-winning co-founder of the Moses Yoofee Trio, Moses Yoofee, harpist, Floating Pointscollaborator and co-founder of jazz trio Flur, Miriam Adefris, Berlin saxophonist and member of underground collective Sonic Interventions, Marius Max, and modular synthesiser expert and collaborator with Philip Glass and Patti Smith, Robert Henriques. The “Final Circle” LP by Skee Mask and North Americans is released on City Slang and brings together two unusual sonic worlds: Bryan Müller, known as Skee Mask, meets guitarist Patrick McDermott and his ambient country-folk project North Americans. On City Slang, the duo documents a collaboration that feels surprisingly cohesive on first listen, combining electronic precision with expansive, meditative drones. Skee Mask’s experience with hazy, atmospheric techno as well as breakbeat, dub, and jungle elements—a path he has followed from “Compro” (2018) through “Resort” (2024)—meets the slow, unfolding textures of North Americans.

Musically, “Final Circle” moves between techno, minimal, and tech house; rhythmic details and layered time signatures are interwoven with stretched-out guitar washes and ambient arcs of tension. Anamnesis is a force of recollection, a road into the world of memory. It literally means “to make a past event present now.” This album is a little portal, a mechanism by which we ended where we began – making music together.

'Dreaming for Miles' is a collection of songs that were written over the past ten years or so by JJ Weihl and John Moods, alone and together, and recorded between our basement practice space where we started our band Fenster many years ago, and at our home in Berlin. After spending over a decade living together and playing music together, our lives began to pull us in different directions. During the process of our separation, we decided to make a last record together. It felt impossible at times, but ultimately, extremely rewarding to work through the archive of our life in this way, and in doing so, let go of a lot, to be able to meet each other on the other side.

We played, produced and mixed every song without trying to be too precious about anything. It was mostly recorded on a Tascam Portastudio 488 between the winter of 2023 and 2024. Some of the songs were old demos we never finished, plucked from obscurity, and some were newer songs that came about during the recording process. It’s an imperfect attempt at making an album during a breakup, at saying farewell to a life we shared, and at starting a friendship as different versions of ourselves, changed by one another.

The “Drift” LP by Noah X Petter is released on the Berlin label Leiter and marks the debut of the duo of bassist and producer Petter Eldh and drummer Noah Fürbringer. Six short compositions, each just under three minutes long, work with sampling, improvisational moments, and studio-focused reduction; as a result, the album develops the punch of a mixtape aesthetic without sacrificing compositional density. Musically, “Drift” moves between jazz and fusion, weaving in pointed hip-hop impulses and electronic textures into precise grooves.

Production and performance are handled entirely by Fürbringer and Eldh; all tracks are written, performed, and produced by the two of them. On “DEEP NOTE,” Talib Kweli appears as a guest with a freestyle verse, a clear highlight of the record. Recording took place at Koma Industries; mixing was done by oh.no.ty, mastering by Zino Mikorey, and the vinyl cut by Andreas Kauffelt. The artwork features a photograph by Manic Cinema, and the layout was designed by Studio Torsten Posselt. “Drift” offers on the Leiter label a compact, precisely crafted introduction to the Noah X Petter project, translating the intersection of jazz, beat culture, and electronic sound work into small, focused forms.

Oddisee’s *And Yet Still* LP is released on the Outer Note label and brings together six concise tracks with a runtime of around 19 minutes; all songs were written and produced by Oddisee. The B-side additionally features all the beats.

Musically, the project moves through the tension between hip-hop, jazz, soul, and funk that is characteristic of Oddisee. The project started as a noise tape I did with my cousin Ernesto Mercado around 1999 or 2000 when our band Anonymous Inc's first album was being wrapped up. Initially, I wanted to make this album very limited but it ended up becoming a fully pressed, and released by Beyond Space Entertainment in 2004 (almost a year after its completion). Fake Flowers is old, lo-fi, sometimes immature and sometimes very weird, but it was an important step in my musical progression and I still have a lot of love for it now

The “Sweets” LP by The Winston Brothers is released on Colemine and consistently continues the horn-driven, ’70s-inspired soul aesthetic of the band. Led by multi-instrumentalist and producer Sebastian Nagel and longtime drummer Lucas Kochbeck, a tight, groove-oriented album emerges that openly plays with soundtrack references and deliberately draws on Isaac Hayes, Willie Hutch, Roy Ayers, and J.J. Johnson.

Recorded between the home studios Monoplast and Lion Sound, “Sweets” bears the marks of a carefully considered creation process: during the pandemic, about 80 percent of the drum tracks were laid down before the arrangements were opened up and additional musicians were brought in. Kimo Eiserbeck (saxophone, flute) and Hans Stephan (trumpet) expand the horn section, while Max Whitefield contributes additional drum parts; this gives the tracks organic voices, space, and colorful accents.

Style-wise, the album ranges from driving, “Get On Down”-like workout numbers to the tropically swaying pulses of “Bouncie Meters” and the atmospheric build in “Kitchen Floor.” The “Sweets” LP thus documents an evolution of the group, in which band interplay and freedom in the arrangements come together in equal measure.

Formed in the Boston area in the early 1990s, God Complex consisted of 7L (DJ/Producer), Esoteric (MC), and KARMA (MC), with Madsol (Producer/DJ) serving as an early collaborator and mentor. 7L and KARMA had already begun making beats together in high school when they connected with Esoteric through his college radio show north of Boston. Madsol helped shape the group’s early sound, getting them into studio sessions and onto independent radio while producing many of their demos and earliest recordings.

Between 1993 and 1996, the group recorded a raw body of work built from dusty samples, hard drums, battle rhymes, obscure sci-fi references, and comic-book mythology—the early DNA of what was to come.

Their first and only proper 12" arrived in 1996, a split release with AOI issued by the fledgling Boston independent Brick Records. From there, 7L and Esoteric continued together, building one of hip-hop’s longest-running creative partnerships, ultimately leading to CZARFACE. KARMA shifted his focus from audio to visual, designing and shaping the graphic identity of the extensive 7LES catalog—a creative relationship that continues today. Madsol continued behind the boards and decks, moving to New York and founding Hi-Rise Records.

Never conceived or realized as a proper album, these ten tracks were hand-picked by the group as an essential starting point—creative sparks that laid the foundation for a universe still expanding more than three decades later.

By the mid-nineties, Mr. Voodoo had established himself in the city’s underground. Coming out of Brooklyn, he was part of the WBAI Underground Railroad circle with J-Smooth, while his radio appearances and freestyles brought his voice into the wider New York scene. Natural Elements — Voodoo, L-Swift, A-Butta and the wider circle around them — were building their reputation at the same time, through records, battles, radio and live sessions. With Charlemagne behind the boards, they developed a sound of their own, while the MCs pushed their writing, delivery and technical skills in a city where the standard was high.

This was New York in the mid-nineties: WBAI and Stretch & Bobbito on the radio, crews crossing paths, new records constantly appearing, and a generation of MCs taking the craft further in their own direction. Natural Elements were right in the middle of that movement, and Voodoo’s voice was one of its most distinctive.

His recordings from those years capture the breadth of that period. The 1996 “Lyrical Tactics” 12-inch — with “Lyrical Tactics,” “Shine” and “Hemlock,” all produced by Charlemagne — sits at the center of a much larger body of work recorded around the same time.

René El Khazraje (MC Rene), born in 1976 in Braunschweig, looks back on a long career: his solo debut in the 1990s, his work as a host on VIVA, and numerous essays on hip-hop culture all shape his voice as an artist and author. On “Die Ungestellte Antwort,” he brings this experience together and translates autobiographical reflections into a musical form that consistently prioritizes linguistic precision and thematic depth.

The LP focuses on the connection between text and sound and documents a deliberate step toward making personal memory audible in compositional form.

The LP "Chopping Mountain HHV Exclusive Green & White Splatter Vinyl Edition" showcases the sixth full-length album by Ibibio Sound Machine and marks the clearest realization yet of the London collective’s long-standing mission to promote love, unity, and resistance through music. Max Grunhard once again takes on the producer role here, for the first time since "Doko Mien" (2019), giving the material an immediate, internally driven dramaturgy and tightly interweaving the production with the band’s musical roots.

Eno Williams’s voice remains the unifying element: she switches between English and Ibibio, serving both as a powerful presence on the dance floor and as an urgent call to action. Tracks like "Return to Sender" — inspired by a personal accident — work as cathartic, body-centered numbers; "Concept of Love" pushes the Afro-disco impulse, while "Love" revels in ethereal highlife. Many songs grew out of jam sessions that centered on groove, instrumentation, and lyrics.

The band operates as a tightly knit eight-piece collective: Grunhard (saxophone, keyboards), Alfred Bannerman (guitar), PK Ambrose (bass, keyboards), Joseph Amoako (drums), Afla Sackey (percussion), Scott Baylis (trumpet, keyboards), and Tony Hayden (trombone, synth) construct monumental sonic architectures around Williams’s lead. Twenty years after forming in Tommy Brenneck’s apartment in Bushwick, the Menahan Street Band return with *Illusions*, their fourth full-length album, released on Brenneck’s label Diamond West Records. The band – Tommy Brenneck, Dave Guy, Nick Movshon, Leon Michels, and Homer Steinweiss – have each pursued a range of projects in the years since. Brenneck has produced for Baby Rose, Rogê, and Kirby, toured with The Budos Band, and runs Diamond West Records and its studio. The Frozen Flashes 12" by Okvsho, released on Hip Dozer, documents the Zurich project of brothers Christoph and Georg Kiss in a working method that tightly intertwines live improvisation and studio-based editing. In sessions in Zurich and London, the musicians played together; short, spontaneous moments, rhythms, and textures were captured, then sampled, cut, and arranged into nine carefully sculpted pieces. The result sits somewhere between jazz and fusion and uses the unpredictability of recordings as a compositional principle. More than four years in the making, Tiki Shack Recording Studios AKA Smiling C Records & Mike Patricola present Pipe Dreams — a compilation of sidewalk surf bands, tropical troubadours, and soothing sounds from just beyond the reef.

Compiled by Mike Patricola, Pipe Dreams is the culmination of years spent exchanging obscure recordings, pursuing a shared feeling, and uncovering a sub-genre of overlooked songs that could be woven into a story of surf, snorkel, and sun. Drawn from Patricola's collection, the compilation aims to capture the feeling of endless summer, and serves as an ode to the freedom of island living: Bikini-shaped sunburns, coconut stands closed due to perfect swells, slack guitars, perpetual sunsets, guppies darting through shallow water, and afternoons spent face-down in the sand.

Spanning the late 1970s through the mid 1980s, Pipe Dreams gathers forgotten pop, lounge, soft rock, AOR, disco, and private-press oddities into a time capsule that seeks to epitomize an era that existed before life became mediated by screens. One in which technology was more naive and society was less reliant upon it. Time moved slower, people were better able to connect with their surroundings, and the dream of moving to a coastal utopia felt more attainable.

Each side unfolds as its own chapter.

Side A begins with Midwestern lettermen The Sunset Kidds, whose hypnagogic harmonies on “Darlin’” evoke the Beach Boys mired in the post-summer doldrums. Australia's Simplex 2 follow with the previously unreleased “Tiger Bay”, capturing the slow pulse of a perfect beach day through low end groove. Don Moore's infectious “Water Lily” arrives via a romantic Fire Island love affair, while Cay Gottlieb contributes a dose of Bahamian Balearica. To close the side out, Tennessee crooner Ron Holmes delivers an extra dose of salt on the margarita rim for good measure.

Side B shifts into a more upbeat surf-disco and pub-rock mode. Montreal’s Dino Pacifici’s nostalgic ode to carefree summers long passed, followed by Marseille's own The Students "Ocean Lifestyle" — which sits somewhere between Shuggie Otis and The Stranglers. Another Montréalais artist Pierre Rochette delivers a chuggy surf-disco belter, while Special Edition Band ventures from boozy rock into a washed-out paradise with glistening guitars.

Side C serves as an ode to tropical troubadours — intimate songs that range from drum machine lounge to private island bedroom recordings. Japan's Twin Cosmos, actual identical twins, dream up beachfront breezes on "Coconuts Wind." Hawaiian songwriter Dennis Soares offers the delicate and deeply personal "One World," while Ossie Parker Jr. supplies some Bahamian barroom sophistication. Miles Corbin brings sounds straight from the tiki hut, and lounge lizard Glen Banks takes us into the final intermission with a lullaby live from the Coconut Grove.

Side D catches a wave back in. Meri-Lynn & The Key Lime Pie Band celebrate the Florida Key life, Dennis Soares returns for one final Hawaiian postcard, and the Latin band Acapulco contribute a hefty dose of sunny positivity akin to one of Brian Wilson’s cheerier tunes. To round it out, Rick Sharp injects a touch of Bossa cheek and fantasy, and British pub blokes Contrast steer the compilation back toward where it all began — a destination somewhere between a Beach Boy California paradise, a remote oceanside lounge for loners, and a sleazy coastal timeshare.

Pressed on vinyl in a deluxe die-cut, spot-glossed gatefold jacket featuring artwork by our man Charles Bals and cover “Breaking Wave” photo by Lex Thompson. Pipe Dreams is designed as both a listening experience and an object of escape. Drop the needle, lean back, and let the tide carry you away.

The Twit 1, II, Three are a Cologne-based band made up of producer Twit One, vibraphonist Maxime von Koblinski, and drummer Niklas Schneider (Keshavara). Their first album is being released on Melting Pot Music and features a unique blend of hip-hop, krautrock, tropicalia, spiritual jazz, and ambient.

Twit One has been shaping Cologne’s beat and hip-hop scene for more than 15 years – as a DJ, producer, radio maker, and co-owner of the Groove Attack record store. For Twit, hip-hop is less a genre than an attitude and cultural technique rooted in African American music history. With The Twit 1, II, Three, he’s realizing his sound vision in a band context for the first time, together with classically trained musician Maxime von Koblinski on vibraphone and Niklas Schneider from Cologne kraut-pop band Keshavara on drums. Twit acts as musical director, provides samples and ideas, and sometimes plays bass.

In 2024, The Twit 1, II, Three self-released a C20 cassette limited to 100 copies and played shows at the following venues: Week-End Festival and Soundball Festival (Cologne), Philharmonie Essen, Schleuse Zwei (Düsseldorf), Aktionshaus (Berlin), De Duivel (Amsterdam).

Afterwards they moved into Satori Studio in Cologne-Müngersdorf, where the band spent a year and a half working away on their debut album. The self-titled album will be released in October 2026 and throws the doors wide open: hip-hop, krautrock, tropicalia, spiritual jazz, and ambient form the cornerstones. Twit One, fully produced and played with real instruments, would be the down-to-earth description. Sun Ra & Dilla on their way to Jupiter with a stopover in Montreux would be the more poetic one. 8 out of 10 tracks are instrumental. Retrogott tells the story behind the album:

Around 2020, doom scrolling turned into dope scrolling when I came across a clip of a young man standing on a street corner holding a handwritten sign: "Support Your Local Hip-Hop Artist" and “Rap CDs – $10.”

The music was by Worms Ali, a West Coast underground MC whose grassroots hustle reminded me of Too $hort and other Bay Area artists who built their fan bases selling tapes directly in the streets. I loved Ali's independent spirit as much as his music: timeless flow, rhymes with character and a clear love for raw beats.

Around the same time, I had started experimenting with the Sp-1200, stacking beats built from dusty samples, chopped loops and hard drums — the sound that made me fall in love with Hip-Hop. I wanted to hear an American MC over them. Not because Hip-Hop belongs within borders, but because, much like Jazz, it is a Black American art form at its roots, while its power has always been to cross cultural and national boundaries.

I reached out to Ali through social media and sent him some beats. Before long, we recorded our first track, “Wesside Hashtag.” One song became another, until it was obvious we should make an album.

There was no label, A&R, manager or calculated plan — just two artists from different parts of the world connecting through a shared love for Hip-Hop.

That is how Worms Ali & Retrogott’s nine-track album "Another Day in the City" came to life.

Musically, it stays true to that connection: jazzy, laid-back boom bap, dusty Sp-1200 textures, warm samples and raw drums behind Ali’s effortless West Coast flow. Across nine tracks, different themes and moods capture snapshots of everyday life.

To me, that is the beauty of Hip-Hop: a culture that travels across oceans and generations, connecting people through beats, rhymes and the craft. No industry setup needed — just a connection, a stack of beats and the desire to create.

The “Live at Real World Studios” LP by Alfa Mist is being released on Sekito and showcases the studio session the artist recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios. With this release, Sekito is making available a performance that was initially viewable exclusively on YouTube but is now officially presented as an album; the format documents live-in-the-studio takes on pieces from the concept album “Roulette,” emphasizing direct interaction rather than studio perfection.

On a musical level, Alfa Mist strips back the arrangements without abandoning the narrative threads of his compositions: familiar melodies open up into extended improvisations, rhythmic shifts remain organic and create space for solo passages. The band is made up of long-standing collaborators — Kaya Thomas-Dyke on bass, Jamie Houghton on drums, Jamie Leeming on guitar, Johnny Woodham (JSPHYNX) on trumpet and flugelhorn, and Samuel Rapley on saxophone and bass clarinet — and, taking advantage of the way sound unfolds in the studio, they create a dense yet airy atmosphere. Aaah yeah! HHE is back with a huge heater! Charlemagne went in and dug up some legendary classics from the early days of Fortress Entertainment. This will be the first installment of several projects between HHE and Fortress so definitely keep an eye out for what's more to come...

The first installment will start out with a bang as we have included the tracks from the Natural Elements EP released back in 1994. At that time NE was still a 6-man crew and the legendary @brownsvilleka was an early member. In addition, we have a previously unreleased Nightbreed track; the mythical duo that consisted of KA along with Kev. Furthermore we have an early L-Swift classic, a Raidermen heater and a superb unreleased demo of female emcee Essence that was also recorded back in 1994 for 10 tracks total.

The compilation will be limited to 500 copies on vinyl and 300 CDs. The CD version will come with a bonus DVD that will feature a documentary about Fortress Entertainment! Much love and respect to @rastaross_ for creating the artwork and a major shoutout to @real_keru for the mastering.
