The focus is on his work with The 101ers, a band from London’s pub rock scene that was formed there in 1974.

The 101ers combined raw rock ’n’ roll, rhythm and blues, and a direct live energy. Joe Strummer stood out as the band’s singer and guitarist. The recordings from 1975 and 1976 showcase a band developing its own sound between classic rock, blues-inflected passages, and the emerging punk aesthetic. Alongside original material, defining tracks such as “Keys to Your Heart” were also part of this early phase.

The vinyl edition reimagines the original album artwork and includes the original 28-page lyric booklet, presented here in three silver ink colors, as well as a new 12-page, full-color insert booklet documenting the making of 22, A Million and exploring the world surrounding its symbol-rich language through previously unpublished artwork and a personal essay by visual artist Eric Timothy Carlson.

The collaboration between Bon Iver and Eric Timothy Carlson, which began with 22, A Million, has since developed into a central connection at the heart of the project, encompassing the artistic design and creative direction of subsequent albums (i,i, Sable, fABLE), exhibitions, photography, and visual identities. In “22, A Million (10th Anniversary Edition),” Carlson offers an in-depth account of the meaning behind both the album artwork and the symbolic titles of the individual songs, sharing the stories and meanings behind the iconography as they have never been shown or told before.

“22, A Million” is an album full of contrasts. On Bon Iver’s third album, released in 2016, Justin Vernon wrestles with pain and love, suffering and redemption, omens and chance. This ambiguity lies at the heart of Justin’s approach to writing lyrics: There are always two ways of looking at any one thing. Hidden within a fragmented language of symbols and numbers is the sonic essence of turbulent years gone by and the path toward recovery. With its ten songs, “22, A Million” completely upended expectations of what a Bon Iver album could sound like. Moving through various circles of friends—close, fleeting, new, and old—he began assembling proto-melodies, vague textures, and specific moods from hundreds of hours of recorded improvisations. Songs such as “22 (OVER S∞∞N),” “33 ‘GOD,’” “715 - CR∑∑KS,” and “8 (circle)” traded familiar structures for fragmented electronics, pitch-shifted vocals, and dense layers of sound. King Buffalo’s “Doomsayer” LP is being released by Stickman as a Bone Vinyl Edition. The Rochester, New York trio’s seventh album was created after a four-year writing period in their own studio and marks their first new release since 2022’s “Regenerator.”

King Buffalo continue to develop their blend of heavy psychedelic rock, krautrock, and stoner rock, while expanding their established sound with new bluesy and space-rock elements. Guitarist and vocalist Sean Roa delivers precise, hard-hitting riffs and also handles synthesizers, production, and mixing. Dan Reynolds builds on the foundation with bass and synthesizers, while drummer Scott Donaldson provides distinctive fills and dynamic grooves.

The seven tracks were recorded in Rochester in 2026 and arranged by King Buffalo themselves. “The Slick and the Dead” in particular offers insight into the album’s direct, riff-driven approach, while the closing title track brings together the band’s self-developed sonic language. Hood’s “Cold House 25th Anniversary Edition” is being released by Domino as a double LP, celebrating an album through which the band significantly expanded its musical vocabulary in 2001. Christopher and Richard Adams founded Hood in Wetherby in 1990 and developed an idiosyncratic, atmospheric sound from their early lo-fi beginnings, positioned somewhere between slowcore, post-rock, and folk.

“Cold House” combines organic instrumentation with jagged electronics and richly detailed IDM production. Guitars, acoustic elements, and melancholic song structures meet abstract rap passages by Dose-One and Why? from the cLOUDDEAD orbit. This combination of warm, at times brittle tones and rhythmically displaced electronic textures is what defines tracks such as “Branches Bare” and “Enemy Of Time.”

The Opaque Natural Vinyl edition of Morphine’s “Cocoon” LP is released on Partisan and presents a previously unreleased collection of recordings from the late 1990s. “Cocoon” comprises eight tracks showcasing Mark Sandman’s vocals and his characteristic two-string slide bass playing; the remaining band members worked on transferring and completing the material, with Paul Q. Kolderie and Sean Slade having already been involved in the original sessions.

For the version released here, Kolderie handled new mixes, Dana Colley added fresh saxophone parts to several tracks, and Sandman’s partner, Sabine Hrechdakian, oversaw the archival work and selection. The result is a cohesive album flow documenting the period of creation shortly before “The Night.” The song “Cocoon” serves as the title track and was presented in advance; alongside it, tracks such as “Moons of Jupiter” showcase variations in arrangement and instrumentation that incorporate piano and acoustic guitar textures.

The LP comes as an Opaque Natural Vinyl edition in a gatefold jacket with a printed inner sleeve and additional editorial material explaining the context in which it was created. Behind the KAMERUN QRELLA GROUP are musician Masha Qrella and musician Schorsch Kamerun (Die Goldenen Zitronen).
On their debut album “Abteilung Blühende Landschaften,” announced for November 20, 2026, they use an artistic dialogue to tell the story of German reunification and its consequences—the promises, hopes, and crumbling utopias once inscribed in it. In response to cultural-political failure and the wounds that come with it, they counter with a powerful interplay of language and music that is deeply committed to unifying creativity.
This top GROUP is needed; it turns East–West pop culture into a project whose core strategy is togetherness!

The group came together in the context of the event series “Ost-West-Kantine” at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin. “Because all of this, despite—or precisely because of—the differences and misunderstandings, was so much fun and made so much sense, and felt like a beginning, we started writing songs together,” is how Masha Qrella describes her new group. Kamerun adds: “Attention, self-quotation: ‘In a surely complex time / The simplest ideas / Are not the sole way / To head out together.’”

“Who’s excluding whom here, and who’s pushing whom out where?” they ask us on the first single, “An den Reglern,” examining positions in the cultural sector with regard to the biographies of those in charge. How many successful bands with East German socialization are there right now?! How many hosts on the news show Tagesthemen?! And why do we even still have to make these distinctions?! Thirty-seven years after the fall of the Wall. Do we really still have to distinguish between East and West?! And they sing: “And you are not my brother / And you are not my sister / We are not your father / And definitely not your country.” And yet: “Physical space together / Should not be a dream we’ve stopped dreaming.”

With Masha Qrella, the group has a successful indie-pop expert with an East German background (Mina, Contriva) on board, and with Schorsch Kamerun, a loudspeaker of subculture from Federal Republic 1 (Porsche, Genscher, hello HSV!) all the way to Berlin-Mitte (Volksbühne Berlin). Musically, they move between indie pop and agitprop, with elegant clatter and post-punk bass lines, between harmony singing and multi-part vocals—yet they also quite deliberately talk over one another. A glamorous reunification drama!

A scrappy track like “Lucy” could easily also be by Die Goldenen Zitronen, while on the song “Avantgarde” the KAMERUN QRELLA GROUP almost dares to venture into ABC-style pop territory and, in terms of content, warns against what today, drawn from the legacy of Stockhausen, Cage, Pauline Oliveros, or the Darmstadt courses, often sits mothballed and mostly plays in high-culture institutions.
The “special” as an engine of distinction. For all the love of microtonality and minimal music! “But free dancing can also twist you up,” the song says—“Ik gloob ik spinne!” (“I think I’m losing it!”).

“This is the greatest touch I’ve ever experienced,” says Masha Qrella over the plocking of a DAF-style sequencer on perhaps the album’s most urgent track, “Libellen”: “I give you my attention, also to help myself,” and “a connected narrative creates collective resistance,” as it puts it. Interpersonal encounters as political strategy.

In short: the KAMERUN QRELLA GROUP transports discourses about “belonging” into a new, fantastic indie-pop world. The one with the pretty Insta tiles. And all the funding. In other words: into all of us! All the questions about identity and belonging, needs and sensitivities that have been successfully suppressed for almost 40 years will certainly not be fully answered even after the next state elections. So we have to keep facing these questions—at the youth center and at work, in culture and in how we live together, in education and at the organic bakery. Otherwise there will be no collective moving forward! And where there is no moving forward anymore, dreary standstill or barbarism lurks—pretty much the opposite of “flourishing landscapes.”

Does the term “concept album” send visions of grand orchestral choruses and strange mythological creatures vaulting through your mind? Well, this album’s gonna change your mind…forever. 1993’s River Runs Red is a concept album, all right, but its themes include alcoholism, physical abuse, and, ultimately, suicide. The record interpolates dramatic, staged skits that tell the story of a troubled teenager edging closer to self-harm between intensely personal songs penned by bassist Alan Robert that range stylistically from New York hardcore to gloom metal to grunge. The intensity just keeps ratcheting up until River Runs Red ends with the sound of blood from a suicide attempt dripping into bathwater… which would ordinarily require a spoiler alert except for the fact that throughout the album the protagonist’s trajectory is clearly headed in only one direction. Cult classic status is almost a given with a plotline like that, but in this case it’s well earned; River Runs Red isn’t just one of the greatest concept or metal albums ever made. It is, quite simply, one of the most powerful records ever made in any genre. An earlier vinyl reissue sold a bunch, but it’s been out of print for over a decade; our remastered-for-vinyl release comes in a clear with red and blue swirl pressing manufactured at Gotta Groove Records and accompanied by an insert. A masterpiece.

Moin’s “Moot!” LP is released on AD 93 as the debut album from a London trio bringing together Joe Andrews and Tom Halstead of Raime with drummer and percussionist Valentina Magaletti. Here, the band develops a distinctive vision positioned between alternative rock, post-punk, psychedelic rock, and electronic sound processing.

“Moot!” grew out of a combination of live recordings and subsequent studio interventions. Moin use sampling and electronic textures not as mere decoration, but as an extension of the band-centered core. As a result, angular guitars, tightly wound rhythms, and deep bass lines meet an atmosphere that is controlled yet blown wide open. Tracks such as “Lungs” and “It’s Never Goodbye” demonstrate how consistently the trio works with dynamics, repetition, and accumulation.

The music draws on influences from post-punk, hardcore, noise rock, and American alternative rock without committing to any single stylistic form. Valentina Magaletti’s precise, hard-hitting drumming forms the center, while Joe Andrews and Tom Halstead interweave guitars, electronics, and samples. “Moot!” therefore feels immediate and physical, while remaining open to breaks, reverberant spaces, and unexpected shifts. The album was mastered and cut by Noel Summerville; the artwork comes from Moin, with design by Alex McCullough and Andrew Osman. The “...Well?” LP by Swell is released by Talitres as a remastered vinyl reissue of an early landmark album in American indie rock. Originally released in 1992, the second album by the band, founded in San Francisco in 1989, marks an important phase in the development of their distinctive sound.

David Freel and Sean Kirkpatrick founded Swell, and on “...Well?” the lineup is expanded by bassist Monte Vallier and guitarist John Dettman. Moving between acoustic and electric guitars, a distant-sounding bass, and stoically driving drums, the band creates music that feels stripped-down, atmospheric, and charged with tension at the same time. The tracks combine the austere attitude of post-punk with folk-inflected and almost cinematic tonal colors.

Freel’s vocals carry the songs with a disillusioned, persistent presence, while the band deliberately keeps its arrangements open and angular. “Down” combines this restrained dynamic with country-tinged moments, while “The Price” opens the sound toward the psychedelia of the 1960s. “Turtle Song” is another standout track on the album, demonstrating how Swell can create a distinctive hypnotic pull from just a few elements.

The colored vinyl edition of Deafheaven’s “At Work In The Fields Of The Bomb” 12-inch is being released through Warner. The release marks a compact expansion of the California band’s musical universe and comprises three new tracks that fall somewhere between alternative rock, post-metal and more pronounced black metal influences.

Deafheaven opens the EP with “The Hunter,” a particularly powerful track. The approximately five-minute song combines aggressive guitar work, harsh screams and striking dynamic shifts. In the middle section, the arrangement opens up to symphonic-sounding keyboard lines before the band returns to another heavy, forceful passage. Kerry McCoy described the new material as the heaviest Deafheaven has recorded to date, while also pointing to a stronger connection to black metal.

“Three Princes” takes on a shorter, atmospheric role within the three-track release, while “Sorry Laid the Hearth” closes it out and once again emphasizes the band’s extreme side. The “Good God's Urge” LP by Porno For Pyros was released on May 28, 1996 on Rhino/Warner Bros. and marks the band’s second studio release. On the album, calmer, more defined arrangements merge with moments of distinctly more powerful guitar work, with songs like “Tahitian Moon” and “Kimberly Austin” standing out as striking examples that also received radio play. The production leaves room for atmospheric interludes as well as catchy vocal lines from Perry Farrell, giving the record a distinctive, contemplative character within the indie rock/alternative spectrum.

The recording sessions were characterized by numerous guest contributions and changing bass parts: Martyn LeNoble played on many tracks, while Mike Watt handled bass on others; in addition, Dave Navarro and Flea provide prominent contributions, for example on the track “Freeway.” Perry Farrell and Thomas Johnson were chiefly responsible for production, with Matt Hyde also contributing as producer and instrumentalist on selected pieces.
