The “No. 9997” 12-inch by STABLO was released in 2011 and presents two concise, untitled tracks that were issued exclusively on vinyl. The release was announced as a strictly limited pressing and came without a digital release; upon its initial distribution, customers were limited to a maximum of one copy each. A Japan-exclusive limited-edition repress followed later, making the record available again in a tightly restricted quantity.

Musically, “No. 9997” operates within the realm of Dub Techno, relying on spacious, echo-drenched textures and pared-down, loop-based rhythms arranged in dense layers. The two sides keep the material short and focused, with tempos of approximately 122 and 124 BPM, respectively, and use bass and delay elements sparingly to give the tracks their weighty subtlety. The release underscores the STABLO label’s stripped-back aesthetic, geared toward DJ use and vinyl playability, and fits into its catalog of concise, club-ready Dub Techno 12-inch releases. For fans of dark, forward-driving studio sketches, the “No. 9997” 12-inch remains a concise addition to the STABLO catalog.

The “Oblique” double LP by Ghost Dubs is released on Pressure and marks producer Michael Fiedler’s second album. On “Oblique,” Ghost Dubs showcases a denser, more cinematic sound design: deep low-end pressure, fragmentary rhythms, and blurred melodies generate a focused yet open-ended tension. Opener “Low Times” sets the tonal framework and has already appeared as a single with two remixes by The Bug, establishing an early tension between minimal force and carefully placed delay.

The LP features twelve tracks, including “Cold Data,” “Soft Collapse,” and “Bombed Suburbs,” the latter introducing melodic motifs reminiscent of Augustus Pablo, suspended in slowed-down grooves. “Almost a Structure” closes the album, with rhythmic elements dissolving into pure atmosphere. Ghost Dubs works with sparse percussion, targeted use of delay, and an emphasis on sub-bass, allowing the tracks to retain their presence despite stripped-back arrangements.

The “Oblique” double LP on Pressure offers a tight fusion of dancehall and dub aesthetics, rendered in a modern, dark sonic palette. Ghost Dubs succeeds in varying familiar dub references while further sharpening his own signature.

The "Conform EP" 12" by Havantepe is released on Berg Audio (catalog BERGAMON17, 2026) and presents four new tracks by the Istanbul‑born producer. The release joins the label’s so‑called "Monument" series and features full cover artwork by Juli Jah. As a 12" in the field of dub techno, the record relies on dense, atmospheric arrangements and a reductive dramaturgy that works across multiple layers of echo and space.

On the "Conform EP," Havantepe uses precisely placed textures and extended soundscapes to shape the tracks into slowly swelling progressions; the EP emphasizes subtle modulations and a sparse yet compelling groove dynamic. With this release, Berg Audio adds another entry to its catalog that underscores both the aesthetic continuity of the label and Havantepe’s penchant for hypnotic dub aesthetics. The "Conform EP" remains deliberately compact: four focused tracks, a clear visual line through the artwork, and a production signature that brings out the atmospheric qualities of dub techno.

The “Exile” LP by Chronixx is released on Forever Living Originals and places the singer in a direct line with contemporary roots and soul aesthetics: the record combines live-sounding rhythm sections with warm vocal leads and a clear narrative density that repeatedly points to identity, family, and community. The album was produced by Inflo, whose clear production approach here connects classic roots textures with soulful arrangements and occasional experimentation, allowing Chronixx’s vocals to range widely between intimacy and determination.

The double LP comprises 17 tracks, including standout titles such as “Hurricane,” “Genesis,” and “Resilient,” which present the album as a cohesive collection in which extended developments and expansive instrumental passages are given room to unfold. Forever Living Originals presents “Exile” as a statement that keeps the roots of Jamaican music in clear view while at the same time opening its perspective beyond genre boundaries; the arrangements leave space for horns, guitars, and restrained dub elements, while Chronixx’s lyricism repeatedly centers on uprising and perseverance. This orientation makes the “Exile” LP a distinctive chapter in Chronixx’s discography and an audibly carefully produced release on Forever Living Originals.

The “CRACK IN THE WALL” 7" by O.B.F & Pupajim was released on Dubquake as a limited vinyl edition and delivers a punchy dub take on in a compact single-length format, with clear, lead-focused vocals. O.B.F brings the characteristic sound system aesthetic to the forefront, while Pupajim takes over lead vocals and carries the song lyrically.

The 7" features the main track “CRACK IN THE WALL” on the A-side, with the instrumental dub version on the B-side. Musically, the release combines classic dub elements with modern production approaches: Rico O.B.F is responsible for composition and mixing, Joker Kapsize handled the mastering, and Simon Rascat contributed programming and additional mixing. This lineup creates a dense low-end foundation and detailed effects work that still leaves the track room to breathe.

Lyrically, “CRACK IN THE WALL” centers on themes of hope and resistance, which Pupajim delivers with a distinctive tone and precise phrasing. The collaboration between O.B.F & Pupajim on Dubquake fits seamlessly into the label’s current output and, with this single, offers a focused release tailored to sound system culture that works equally well in DJ selections and on your home setup.

The 12" “Dubhaus” released on Dachshund by Tm Shuffle brings a precise, dub-focused approach to rhythmic reduction and sonic depth; the set moves squarely in the realm of dub techno and ties repetitive motifs to layered textures and a constantly forward-driving groove. The tracks make sparing use of melodic elements and reverb-heavy production so that atmosphere and danceable structure remain equally weighted.

Musically, “Dubhaus” comprises three tracks that shift between raw club energy and a more introspective mood; the title track forms a hypnotic opening, “My City, My Brain” adds an extra voice to the deliberately minimalist composition through a contribution from Konstantin Kost, and “Pimeys” leads the EP into darker, more reflective territory. The material is written, produced, and composed by Jukka Hänninen, who, as Tm Shuffle, works with traditionally dub-rooted arrangements while foregrounding subtle variations and meticulous mixing. “Dubhaus” fits into the recent discography of Tm Shuffle and showcases the producer’s ongoing fine-tuning of space, use of delay, and bass design.

The “Signs Of The Time” LP by Azizzi Romeo Meets Guiding Star Orchestra, released on Recall Reality, combines immersive, roots-influenced dub reggae from Jamaica with the powerful instrumentation of an eleven-piece Danish band. The arrangements rely on warm analog sounds, lush horn parts, rolling bass lines, as well as the band’s characteristic tape saturation and spring reverb, allowing the tracks to breathe within expansive, dub-infused spaces. The production and mix focus on organic gravitas rather than rigid digital presets; every melodic motif and delay functions as an integral part of the song structure.

With sharpened spiritual urgency and purposeful lyrics, Azizzi Romeo carries the main vocal weight. On the title track, “Signs Of The Time,” his father Max Romeo reinforces the message with a concise guest appearance. Producer CHLLNGR brought the recordings together and handed the mix over to Prince Fatty, who supplemented the sessions with legendary drummer Winston “Horseman” Williams. The recordings took place at both Laerken Studio in Copenhagen and Charmax Studios in Linstead, Jamaica. Alongside “Signs Of The Time,” album highlights include “Thanks and Praises” and “Jah Jah Disciples,” which explore the album’s thematic range from gratitude to spiritual steadfastness. “Signs Of The Time” is available from Recall Reality on LP and across major streaming platforms.

Dialog’s “Symbol Of The Land” LP is released on Kynant and marks the duo’s move toward a deliberately beat-driven full-length, expanding their previously ambient and dub-oriented approaches into more strongly rhythm-focused arrangements. Dialog, the production and performance project of Helsinki-based Samuel van Dijk and Rasmus Hedlund, combines dub techno aesthetics with a collaborative working method; on “Symbol Of The Land,” this openness to voices and rhythmic traditions becomes a principle that shapes the album’s structure.

The album documents a period of intensive exchange and brings the duo’s studio and live experience into a new balance: precisely placed drums and modulated bass textures merge with spatial processing and occasional vocal interjections, elements already heard in earlier Dialog projects. The production emphasizes textural depth and spatial movement without abandoning dub’s characteristic delay and filtering strategies; instead, these are integrated into functional grooves that open up both club and listening spaces. “Symbol Of The Land” on Kynant reflects Dialog’s intention to translate dubwise sound design into a collaborative, globally oriented album format.

The “Serious Thing (Photo / Photo Card)” LP by Horace Andy is released on the Gorgon label and collects the well-known take on the track “Serious Thing” in a physical long-playing edition. The record puts this classic song center stage and highlights Horace Andy as one of the defining voices of reggae.

Horace Andy is distinguished by a unique, lightly vibrato-tinged tenor and a sparse yet powerful phrasing style that makes his tunes instantly recognizable. Musically, the material ranges from roots reggae to more intricate dub arrangements; calmer passages alternate with subtly arranged horn and effects textures, placing particular emphasis on the melodic line. The name Horace Andy stands for a long career and numerous collaborations that have carried his voice into a wide variety of contexts.

The creation of “Serious Thing” is part of a production history that spans both Bunny Lee productions from the 1970s and later versions from the Wackie’s/Bullwackies circle; in addition, an instrumental or dub side under the title “A Serious Version” has been documented. These different productions account for the many documented versions of the track and underscore its importance within Horace Andy’s repertoire.

The “Upsetters 14 Dub Black Board Jungle” LP by Upsetters is being released on Week-End and is regarded as a groundbreaking dub release that, as early as the early 1970s, redefined the work of producers and engineers. The record showcases the radical use of remix and studio effects of the time and stands for early experimentation in dub, which is why it is repeatedly cited as a milestone in numerous retrospectives on the emergence of the genre.

Behind the name Upsetters are the studio musicians from Lee “Scratch” Perry’s circle; the lineup existed in several incarnations, starting with Gladdy’s All-Stars with Gladstone Anderson and Winston Wright on keyboards and Jackie Jackson on bass, through the Hippy Boys with the Barrett brothers, and on to a flexible band configuration in the Black Ark years. This collective approach to performance can be heard on “Upsetters 14 Dub Black Board Jungle” and explains the dense, modular way the tracks are constructed.

The release not only documents expanded possibilities of studio production, it also exerted a lasting influence on later producers and remix concepts. Tracks such as “Black Panta” and “Dreamland Skank” have been appearing in DJ sets and specialist writing on dub for decades, demonstrating the enduring influence of this LP on subsequent generations of studio artists.

The “Upsetters 14 Dub Black Board Jungle” LP by Upsetters is being released on Week-End and presents the now once again available version of this dub classic. The material has been fully restored and newly mastered for this edition by Stephan Mathieu; the release returns after more than 20 years and is being offered for the first time with the original artwork. The run is limited to 3,000 copies.

The package includes an 8-page 12" booklet with extensive liner notes by David Katz as well as an interview with Adrian Sherwood that provides additional insight into the album’s creation and context. The sleeve features embossed logo and title details; the lacquer cut was done at STT, and pressing was handled by Optimal Media. With the “Upsetters 14 Dub Black Board Jungle” LP, Week-End is issuing an edition that combines historical documents of dub with modern processing and presents the material anew in technically revised form. The combination of restored audio, new mastering, and supplementary texts makes this edition a focused, curated release within the Upsetters’ dub repertoire.

I Am An Instrument — a fully improvised modal jazz/dub collective based in Copenhagen, releasing their new album Wonder, Wander in late August on their own label, IAAI Music.

The premise of I Am An Instrument is simple and radical: no setlists, no arrangements, no safety net. Every record is a document of musicians surrendering entirely to the moment — modal jazz sensibility colliding with dub space and texture, recorded live as a single unfolding event. Wonder, Wander is the album where that philosophy deepens into something more searching. The title says it: it’s music that doesn’t arrive — it moves, it drifts, it discovers.

This isn’t a band that rehearses its improvisation. The tension on the record is real.

Joe Armon-Jones appears on this album — not as a featured guest in the conventional sense, but as a full participant in the improvisation. The backstory is simple: I met him backstage while he was setting up for a gig, handed him a bag of vinyl, and discovered he already had some of my productions in his collection. That moment of mutual recognition turned into a conversation, and eventually into a session. He came in, surrendered to the process like everyone else, and what’s on the record is what happened.

The band are rooted in Copenhagen’s experimental underground, with connections running from Afrobeat to dub to spiritual jazz. Not easy to categorize, which is exactly the way they like it.

The "Redscale 03" 12" released on Redscale presents two expansive dub techno cuts that further pursue the label’s stripped-down, atmospheric profile. Grad_U remains true to his compositional approach: sparse arrangements, vast reverberant spaces, and a persistent focus on rhythmic depth define this release.

The record features the tracks "EV -2" (approx. 9:23) and "EV -6" (approx. 6:49), whose long-form progressions leave room for subtle modulations and layered textures. The pieces work with offset chord pads, stretched-out delay and reverb elements, and a pronounced low-end presence, creating a meditative yet club-ready arc of tension in each case. Grad_U’s signature comes through in the precise fine-tuning of timbre and dynamics; small shifts in percussion and filter work keep the sound in constant motion.

The release came out on December 18, 2018; it expands the Redscale series as another chapter in Grad_U’s ongoing engagement with dub techno. "Redscale 03" offers production work rooted in reduction and meticulous detail, distinguished by its consistently dense atmosphere.

The “Running Around (83)” 12" by Yl Hooi, released on Efficient Space, brings a long road-tested live piece to vinyl for the first time. The hand-stamped white-label 12" honors the raw presentation of the material and presents the central version alongside three self-contained renditions.

Yl Hooi, the duo of Valya Ying-Li Hooi and Tarquin Manek, uses “Running Around (83)” to document a dense combination of crushing rhythms, otherworldly voices, and cryptic fragments of text that ride atop an overdriven, dub-techno-oriented bassline. It’s the project’s first release since “Untitled” (2019) and channels the tension honed in live performance into a focused studio version that preserves both its motoric weight and its finely detailed sonic observations.

The record comprises four tracks: the original version, the “Mad Professor Dub,” the “Ulla Version,” and the “John T. Gast Remix.” Mad Professor delivers a percussion-heavy halftime stepper variant featuring contributions from Black Steel and Karmelody. Ulla’s version rebuilds the theme, weaving together woodwinds, keys, and subtle percussion to create a meeting point between ambient, minimal jazz, and contemporary classical. John T. Gast pulls the material into a rough, sound-system-oriented dance form where lo-fi aesthetics and distorted energy intersect. With this 12", Efficient Space remains a forum for experimental, hybrid-inflected electronics.

The Showcase Volume 2 LP by Lone Ark Meets The 18th Parallel is released on Fruits and, five years after the first volume in the series, picks up the collaboration between the two artists. Recorded on 2-inch tape between Geneva and Cueto, the production is characterized by powerful drums and bass, a tight rhythm section, and intricate horn, flute, and synth arrangements; Roberto Sánchez takes center stage as the voice and decisively shapes the record’s sonic profile.

Musically, Showcase Volume 2 addresses contemporary themes with a roots-oriented sound aesthetic: “Ammunition” is about activism through music, “Man Kill Man” criticizes the logic of war, and “Money” explores perspectives critical of capitalism. Each of the six songs on the LP is paired with its dub counterpart, mixed by Roberto Sánchez himself, extending the studio work as an artistic element in its own right. The focus is on analog warmth and a human touch: instead of digital gimmicks, the release relies on organic arrangements and hands-on studio work, which lends the Fruits edition its distinctive authenticity.

The *Frente Cumbiero Meets Mad Professor* LP by Mad Professor and Frente Cumbiero is released on Ariwa Sounds and combines Colombian cumbia with the sophisticated studio techniques of the British dub producer. Frente Cumbiero was formed in Bogotá around Mario Galeano and takes an unconventional approach on this collaboration, shaped by traditional coastal music, electronic textures, and driving rhythms.

The material was recorded in Bogotá in 2009 during several days of studio sessions. In addition to four compositions by Frente Cumbiero, the release includes three jointly developed tracks featuring musicians from Colombia’s music scene. Guests include Liliana Saumet of Bomba Estéreo, Javier Fonseca, Kiño, as well as members of La 33, Alerta Kamarada, and Mojarra Eléctrica. The instrumentation ranges from bass, drums, and guitar to accordion, horns, melodica, and various traditional percussion instruments.

Mad Professor and Joe Ariwa subsequently reworked the seven original tracks at the Ariwa studio in London, turning them into dub versions. “ChucuSteady,” “Ariwacumbé,” and “CumbiEtiope” are enhanced with echo, reverb, and spatial effects, while the original mixes preserve the rhythmic core of the Colombian ensemble. The *Frente Cumbiero Meets Mad Professor* LP thus documents a precisely crafted fusion of cumbia and dub, bringing together live instrumentation, improvised studio work, and the characteristic Ariwa aesthetic.

The “February’s Album” LP by Hysterical Love Project is released on Motion Ward and presents ten warm compresses whose sound is suffused with palpable moisture and a fine hiss. The production focuses on atmospheric density and a careful balance between melancholy and reconciliation.

Downcast guitars are aerated by sanguine choruses, while fluttering electronic fragments, referred to as e-waste, punctuate the arrangements; a steady low-end throb carries the tracks. Contentment pulses alongside delirium; sweetness ripens into pressure, while questions of doubt and inner calm are reflected in sparsely used melodies and open sonic spaces. The LP moves within the tension between downbeat, electronica, and leftfield, unfolding a restrained yet compelling presence.

The material was written and recorded by Brooklyn Mellar and Ike Zwanikken; physical distribution is handled by Rubadub. Musically, echoes of Chris & Cosey, Labradford, City Centre Offices, and YL Hooi can be detected, while Motion Ward’s “February’s Album” maintains an independent, muted study of electronic density.

Lyrically, “February’s Album” poses recurring questions about doubt and inner calm; vivid passages about an open window that lets insects in and takes the light out shape the mood. Fine arrangement details ensure that a handful of motifs achieve a powerful atmospheric effect.

Musically, “Queens Of Roots” moves between classic roots arrangements and a rhythmically accented dancehall aesthetic; the juxtaposition of vocal parts and versions makes the compilation’s focus clearly audible. The sequencing employs recurring motifs and version techniques, allowing individual tracks to work both as standalone pieces and in their instrumental variations. The "Cuts & Dubs Volume 1" LP by Mad Professor is released on Test Pressing and brings together a tightly curated selection from the Ariwa archive, with a clear focus on dub and roots styles.

The compilation pulls together twelve tracks from across the label’s catalog, showcasing a stylistic range from dub and lovers rock through to digital dancehall, with every cut given the signature Ariwa sound by Mad Professor at the mixing desk. Ariwa began as a small living-room studio in Thornton Heath and over more than four decades evolved into a center of British reggae and dub production with hundreds of releases; Mad Professor’s Dub Me Crazy series and his extensive work as a producer have been decisive in shaping the label’s reputation.

Alongside instrumental dub sketches such as "Dub Sampler," "H2SO4," "Disco Dude" and "Kathmandu Dub," the record also features standout collaborations: the meeting with Jah Shaka on "O*** One God" is regarded as a key piece, the Ariwa house band Robotics appears with "Hong Kong Flew!" and "Miss Mood," and Aisha closes the album with "Can You Feel It." The selection is rounded out by contributions from Starky Banton, Ragga Doll, Professor Doppler and Earl Lawrence; the sleeve design was created by Trevor Jackson.

The LP “No Place Like Home” by Jesse Royal, released on Easy Star Records, brings together the songs the artist created in the years following his international breakthrough and was first issued in August 2025. The record includes previously released singles such as “Blessing,” “Light Of Mine,” “Hope” (feat. Romain Virgo), and “Your Soul,” and also introduces new tracks as well as notable guest appearances by Kabaka Pyramid, Melanie Fiona, Yohan Marley, and Perfect Giddimani.

Musically, Jesse Royal moves between classic reggae, roots revival, and modern, singjay‑driven arrangements; his approach combines melodic immediacy with a clear, socially engaged lyrical message that often emphasizes the connection to Jamaica and a sense of responsibility toward the younger generation. Characteristic are the warm, organic instrumentation, the accented offbeat grooves, and Royal’s voice, which carries both introspective and defiant moments.

This release includes additional material in an expanded edition and is available on vinyl for the first time; as a special production feature, it contains two previously unreleased dub versions mixed by Tippy I‑Grade (Zion I Kings), as well as the previously unreleased track “Ignite.” “No Place Like Home” consolidates Jesse Royal’s status as a contemporary representative of roots‑oriented reggae aesthetics.

Rodigan himself serves as curator and has selected three producers to translate the recordings into dub, jungle, and drum & bass: Shy FX delivers a rendition of “The Cure & The Cause” (Fish Go Deep feat. Tracey K), Prince Fatty reworks “Heaven” (The Vision feat. Andreya Triana), and CLIPZ contributes a jungle version of “Strings Of Life” (Soul Central). This constellation connects the selector’s roots with contemporary bass cultures and brings the melodic cores of the originals to the fore in surprising ways.

The compilation “Soul Revivers In The Vaults Of Hit Sound Vol. 1” is released on Acid Jazz and focuses on the early productions of Jamaican singer and producer U Brown. The Soul Revivers project is headed by David Hill, who selected recordings from Brown’s Hit Sound and Tanker circles for this collection. At its heart is roots reggae that already hints at the dancehall structures that would emerge later.

Huford Brown, known by his stage name U Brown, belonged to a new generation of Jamaican reggae MCs in the late 1970s. His work took him to venues and studios including Channel One and King Tubby’s, while he was also releasing his own productions through Hit Sound. “Soul Revivers In The Vaults Of Hit Sound Vol. 1” presents these works together on vinyl for the first time and also highlights previously unknown dubplate mixes by Al Campbell, including two versions of “Give The People.”

Alongside Al Campbell, the compilation features Delroy Wilson, Vincent Taylor, U Brown, Crucial Bunny, Bobby Ellis and Deadly Headley, as well as Carlton Livingstone. Delroy Wilson contributes two rare 12-inch recordings, while Bobby Ellis and Deadly Headley appear with an instrumental track. Carlton Livingstone’s “Hey Mr. Dee Jay” already points toward the development of dancehall. The Acid Jazz LP thus brings together soulful roots recordings, dubplate culture and early dancehall influences in a historically focused selection.

The LP “Too Too Bad” by Buju Banton, released on Gargamel, comes as a colored-vinyl pressing including a photo and photo card, aimed at collectors and listeners who value physical extras. This edition presents the announced album “Too Too Bad” and remains rooted in the dancehall tradition; the project has been officially announced for a July 2026 release and accompanies Buju’s ongoing touring activities.

Musically, the work picks up on the raw dancehall aesthetic that Buju Banton helped shape in the 1990s, without neglecting his broader repertoire in reggae, roots, and songwriting. Considered one of Jamaica’s most influential voices, the artist brings decades of experience and international recognition to the album; his previous records and awards form the backdrop for this return to dancefloor-oriented productions.

As a distinctive feature of the current release phase, the single “Butterflies” has already appeared, produced by Supa Dups for Black Chiney Music and distributed via Gargamel/VP Records; this suggests that the record links modern producers with classic dancehall. The colored-vinyl edition with photo elements underscores its appeal to collectors while also providing a physical point of access to Buju Banton’s new direction.

The “World A Music” 12" released on Taxi presents the title track in an extended vocal version and represents an early collaboration between the singer and producer duo Sly & Robbie, who feature prominently on the A-side. The release documents Ini Kamoze’s characteristic voice over a distinctly played riddim and places the vocal version in a clear, groove-focused context, typical of Taxi productions of that era.

On the B-side, “Out In The Street Dub” offers a fully realized dub version that puts Sly & Robbie center stage as arrangers and dub architects, consistently developing the track’s rhythmic foundation. This combination of extended vocal mix and instrumental, dub-conscious reworking makes the 12" a documented example of the link between vocals and dub aesthetics within the Taxi universe. The underlying riddim of “World A Music” later gained additional recognition as the basis for subsequent productions and homages in the reggae scene.

Produced by Supermax-frontman Kurt Hauenstein. Originally released in 1987. We are proud to re-release this super rare 7” that proves, once and for all, that Austrians can excel at digi-dub. Timelessly tropical and beautifully bouncy, its vibe is quite different from the iconic Supermax productions. The “Danger in My Eyes” 7" by Joe Yorke and O.B.F was released on Dubquake and is offered as a limited pink 7" vinyl edition. On the A-side, Joe Yorke is at the forefront, with his voice appearing here in a comparatively lower register; his vocals remain melodic and tie into a classic rocksteady melody that is reimagined in this version. O.B.F is responsible for the production and brings the rhythmic foundation together in a clear and powerful way.

The B-side features the instrumental take on “Danger Dub,” which transforms the original theme into a dense, dark dub version and employs typical production techniques such as heavy echo, reduced bass frequencies, and spatial effects. In addition to Joe Yorke and O.B.F, the release shows compositional references to older Studio One arrangements; at the same time, the execution remains modern and sound system-oriented. The “Danger in My Eyes” 7" by Joe Yorke and O.B.F on Dubquake thus offers both the vocal side and a distinctive dub version, adding a carefully produced single release to the label’s ongoing series.

The "Stand On Business" 7" by Sean Paul is released on VP and pairs his distinctive voice with a production by King Jammy. The A-side features the vocal cut "Stand On Business," while the B-side offers a "Sleng Teng Version" arranged by King Jammy; in doing so, the single draws particular attention to classic riddim craftsmanship. VP issues the track as a 7" and lets Sean Paul’s vocal presence meet a sharply defined backing riddim, with Jammy bringing the rhythmic foundation to the fore and giving both sides of the release equal weight.

The 7" comprises two tracks totaling around seven minutes of playing time and highlights how Sean Paul links contemporary dancehall performance with traditional studio techniques. The production by King Jammy and the decision to set a pure version against an instrumental or dub variation make the "Stand On Business" 7" a compact statement within VP’s current catalog. For collectors and listeners who focus on arrangement and riddim, this 7" offers a direct juxtaposition of vocal and version.

The “Rebel 2026 Edition w/ Small Centre Hole” 7" by Rothadam is being released on Shella and documents the 2026 repress with new labels, a small center hole, and the new catalog number SR015. This edition puts the sought-after single back into circulation and preserves the historical character of the recordings, while the pressing clearly presents the two versions united on the vinyl.

Musically, “Rebel” evokes the atmospheric density of the Black Ark productions: Rothadam’s voice is at once fragile and determined, while a heavy bass and an opulent horn section carry the arrangement. The lyrics are an appeal for peace and unity and reflect experiences from Trenchtown; Rothadam describes the hardships of his environment and the need to stand firm. This side of the record showcases roots reggae in its pure, emotional form.

The 7" is a genuine double-sider: two different versions of “Rebel” were recorded in Toronto around 1975/76, produced by Sid Lovejoy (LMP) and Ron Lewis (Half Moon), respectively, and backed each time by different bands. The reissue has been championed by sound systems and DJs such as King Shiloh and Gilles Peterson. Rothadam passed away in 2026; this repress edition is dedicated to his memory and brings his work closer to a new audience.

Phillip George Allison was born and raised in Denham Town, West Kingston. Inspired from an early age by Curtis Mayfield, Smokey Robinson and Eddie Kendricks, his distinctive falsetto earned him the nickname “George Smokey.” Together with Delroy Williams and Shirley Forbes he formed The Mad Lads, who recorded at Studio One with the Sound Dimensions after an audition with Leroy Sibbles. Allison later left music to study electrical engineering before producer Carl Prince brought him back into the studio. Both tracks on this single originally appeared on his 1984 album So Unusual. “Gypsy Woman” is Allison's interpretation of the Curtis Mayfield & The Impressions song, delivered in his distinctive falsetto style. “War Is Ugly” was written in response to politically motivated violence in Jamaica, carrying a message against guns and war and in favour of love.

The “Babylon Ambush” 12-inch by Dubkasm and Iration Steppas, released on Partial, brings together a concise collaboration between two influential forces in the British dub scene. The release revisits an original collaboration that was first issued on the Sufferah’s Choice label in 2005 and subsequently remained out of print for an extended period. With this edition, Partial brings the material back into circulation, placing a focus on legendary steppers arrangements.

Musically, “Babylon Ambush” features the title track in a Dubkasm version as well as a final treatment by Iration Steppas. The set is rounded out by alternative mixes of “Deh Inna De Lions' Den,” highlighting both acts as producers and remix partners. The tracks document the collaboration between Dubkasm—the Bristol duo Digistep and DJ Stryda—and the Leeds-based Iration Steppas collective, showcasing the production approaches both are known for: powerful bass foundations, carefully placed echo and reverb arrangements, and distinctive dub remix structures. For listeners who value authentic steppers interpretations, this 12-inch provides a compact summary of the connection between Bristolian roots dub and Iration Steppas’ heavy sound.

The “Endurance Trial / Serious Seasoning” 10" by The Disciples is released on Lionvibes / Boom Shaka Lacka and brings together two distinctive dub programs from the project. On the A-side is “Endurance Trial,” a studio cut from the current riddim sessions by The Disciples, produced, engineered, and mixed by Russ D; the production bears the unmistakable stamp of the Disciples backroom and firmly anchors the release in the contemporary dub context.

The B-side documents “Serious Seasoning” in its variations: the track appears in several mixes and was previously available in digital form, but is presented here in concentrated form on the 10" format. The combination of both titles on one single offers a concise insight into the work of The Disciples and the working methods of their label Boom Shacka Lacka alongside their collaboration with Lionvibes. For dub fans, the record offers a direct, format-appropriate encounter with current Disciples rhythms and mixing approaches.

The compilation “Listen Up! Dub Classics Orange Vinyl Edition” on Kingston Sounds presents a hand-selected collection of classic dub versions and is released on orange vinyl. The collection brings the rhythmic backbone of Jamaican dub to the forefront: bass and drums are stripped back and placed prominently, while vocals and instruments are selectively faded in and out with echo and reverb, allowing familiar recordings to be experienced as new versions. With this release, Kingston Sounds focuses on the origins of dub aesthetics and the practice of transforming B-sides into standalone versions.

The “Listen Up! Dub Classics Orange Vinyl Edition” includes recordings closely associated with the early pioneers of dub; many of the versions were created by King Tubby and thus bear his historic signature. Artists featured include Horace Andy, Cornell Campbell, Johnny Clarke, Delroy Wilson, and Barry Brown, heard here in stripped-down versions shaped by prominent effects. Tracks such as “A Better Version” by Horace Andy and “Creation of Dub” by Johnny Clarke serve as distinctive cornerstones of the collection. Overall, this Kingston Sounds compilation offers a concise introduction to the versioning tradition of Jamaican studio culture and presents the sonic interventions that define dub in a clear, cohesively arranged form.

Beppu’s “Forms” 12-inch, released on Alt Dub, explores the introspective possibilities of dub techno and shifts its musical focus toward the atmospheric and experimental. Recorded and shaped using analog equipment, tape, a mixing console, and effects units, Beppu works with sparse materials to precisely mold space, texture, and repetition. Deep bass foundations, driving echo washes, and finely layered electronic sounds run throughout the tracks, creating a balance between restraint and detailed elaboration that feels both understated and immersive.

The release concludes with two remixes of the track “Traces,” featuring Stephen Hitchell under his aliases CV313 and Intrusion. The “Morning Dub” version takes the track into a denser, more physical depth, while “Evening Dub” expands its hypnotic elements through more widely extended spatial treatments. Taken together, “Forms” on Alt Dub presents a coherent, carefully produced exploration of dub’s fundamental principles, transferring them into a more open, experimental sonic world and carrying the label’s characteristic analog warmth in new, atmospheric directions.

The "See Him" 7" by Jim Brown is released on Soul Jazz and delivers a punchy dancehall cut from the Studio One camp on vinyl. Produced by C. S. Dodd, Jim Brown’s vocals are clearly front and center, while backing by the Studio One Band, aka Sound Dimension, provides the rhythmic foundation. The recording rides the riddim framework known as "Lecturer," which gives the track immediate dancefloor appeal and fuses the classic Studio One sound with a rougher dancehall approach.

On the B-side you’ll find the version, which highlights the instrumental foundation and brings the rhythmic elements to the fore without lead vocals; this complements the A-side and makes C. S. Dodd’s arrangement logic in the production clear. With this 7", Soul Jazz presents Jim Brown as part of a series that makes classic Studio One titles newly accessible, relying on the authenticity of the original and the power of the version tradition. Overall, the "See Him" 7" documents Jim Brown’s contribution to dancehall history and Studio One’s productivity as a key hub for vocal cuts with distinctive versions.

The collaboration between Ras Teo and the Jah Temple label underscores a grounding in classic roots forms without sacrificing modern precision. The single works as a direct entry point into Ras Teo’s songwriting, which on this release is complemented by the explicitly named contributions of the authors. With “Long Time,” Jah Temple continues its approach of foregrounding distinctive voices and clear arrangements, while Ras Teo carries the track as a concise, stand-alone release. The "Ups" LP by The Flying Hats is released on ATA and brings together a series of organically instrumented songs that mark the band’s transition from their debut to their second full-length record. The album builds on recently released singles like "Blender" and "Traffic Light," confidently carrying over the distinctive Hammond playing and dense groove arrangements into the longer format.

The Flying Hats stand for a blend of flowing, cymbal‑driven reggae rhythms and analog funk textures; key to the sound are Neil Innes on bass, Sam Hobbs on drums, Bob Birch on Hammond organ, and Chris Dawkins on guitar, all of whom have already gained experience with soul, R&B, and Caribbean styles in earlier projects and sessions. Some of the LP’s tracks were recorded during the same sessions as the advance singles, resulting in a coherent, unified sonic character.

Musically, the record leans heavily on classic Kingston sounds and New Orleans funk; organic arrangements, driving bass lines, and striking Hammond melodies dominate the soundscape. Comparisons to Jackie Mittoo or The Meters can be heard in the rhythmic feel and the warm, analog tonal character, without diminishing the individuality of the compositions. Overall, "Ups" showcases the evolution of a band that combines groove, vintage aesthetics, and meticulous craftsmanship.

With the 12" “Japanese New Wave On Dub 1980 - 1985,” released on Miss You, V.A. takes his creativity to the next level while, by and large, remaining true to his style. The compilation brings together tracks from the early Japanese new wave scene that are re-accentuated through a dub aesthetic, carving out a distinct intersection between post-punk, synth pop, and reggae-leaning studio experiments. Tight, concise guitar riffs and coolly deployed synthesizers are characteristic, flanked by bass-heavy arrangements, reverb and delay effects, and deliberate work on the mix that gives the songs both space and a floating quality. Many contributions combine urban melancholy with a danceable, groove-oriented drive, as producers use echo and mixing tricks to create atmospheric depth without blurring the songs’ structural clarity. For listeners interested in the interweaving of Japanese new wave and dub-inspired production approaches, this collection offers a concise and stylistically focused journey through an exciting chapter of the early Eighties.

The "Roots, Rock, Reggae: Live At The Hammersmith" LP by Bob Marley & The Wailers was released on Island and officially documents for the first time concert recordings made during the band’s multi-night residency at the Hammersmith Odeon in London in June 1976. Issued as a 2-LP set on black vinyl, it makes the historic touring period surrounding the "Rastaman Vibration" album accessible.

The set comprises 18 tracks and, in addition to the title track, includes rarely performed live pieces such as "Bend Down Low," an extended version of "Crazy Baldhead," and an approximately 30-minute closing section built around a twelve-minute rendition of "Get Up, Stand Up." Newly written liner notes by Don Letts complement the release with contemporary observations and photographs from this concert run.

Musically, the recording presents the band within their characteristic roots reggae framework, with a distinctive one-drop groove, melodic lead guitar, and the characteristic backing vocals that thicken the live arrangements. The recording captures the moment when Marley & The Wailers were expanding their international presence and introducing songs with a pronounced political message to a large audience. The record thus stands as an important document of the band’s history and of the development of reggae as a global musical movement.

The “The Music Inside” 7" by Alek Lee is released on Anova Music as a boutique pressing, limited to 200 copies. On this single, Alek Lee and singer Margeeah come together and deliver two tracks that fuse soul, reggae, disco, and dub. Alek Lee, whose discography includes releases on labels such as Antinote and Isle of Jura, brings his own live drums and percussion into a project for the first time here and complements the arrangements with his smoky melodica lines. The production focuses on bass-driven structures, lively grooves, and expansive guitar textures that lend the roots & culture approach an airy, dub-oriented depth.

Margeeah, whose roots lie in the Israelite community and whose debut “Looking for Love” originally came out in the early 1980s with Kingdom Sounds, carries the songs with a voice that moves between soul, jazz, funk, and reggae. The A-side, “The Music Inside,” pairs Lee’s lyrics about optimism and the longing for inner and outer freedom with a slow, steady reggae rhythm and a recurring vocal refrain. The B-side, “Can You Feel It?”, drifts into a slower disco-dub feel; here the percussion builds from a restrained layer of groove into a full live kit, while melodica and guitar circle around Margeeah’s lead vocal and the hypnotic title phrase. With “The Music Inside,” Anova Music presents a carefully arranged 7" that brings production and vocals together in a lean and impactful way.

The “Sign Of Life” 12-inch by STL, released on Ascending Signs, marks the label’s third release and features four tracks. The initials STL stand for Stephan Laubner, who has spent years developing a distinctive voice through his productions, situated between house, dub techno, and experimental electronics.

The title track, “Sign Of Life,” opens the EP with a focused sketch of Laubner’s characteristic approach. Abstract house structures, restrained techno beats, and dub-inflected spaces come together in a personal, idiosyncratic sound. The music remains open to gradual shifts and subtle changes without abandoning its rhythmic foundation. “Men Busy,” “Spookley Skew,” and “Blue Feel” continue this exploration, each with its own particular emphasis.

Ascending Signs describes the release as a deliberate expansion across abstract and experimental house, dub, techno, and downtempo. This stylistic range is precisely what gives the “Sign Of Life” EP its appeal: STL works with minimal means while leaving the individual elements enough room for depth and movement. The four tracks combine a raw, personal intensity with the atmospheric openness that has characterized Stephan Laubner’s music for many years.

The “Dubbing In A Africa” LP by Augustus Pablo is released on Abraham and brings together ten instrumental dub tracks that focus on rhythmic depth and sonic post-production. The release centers on stripped-down arrangements, in which short, concise pieces like “Nigerian Love Dub,” “Mount Of Olives Dub,” and “Trench Town Dub” set the pace and embody the record’s characteristic dub approach. With this LP, Abraham delivers an edition that clearly highlights the title and track sequence and places the artist’s production at the forefront.

The tonal character of the recording is shaped by renowned musicians from the Jamaican scene: Sly Dunbar handles drums, Robbie Shakespeare supplies the bass, Bingy Bunny and Dougie add guitar work, Melodice Gladdy can be heard on piano, and Sticky contributes percussion. Augustus Pablo appears here as both producer and organ player, with Charles Reid credited as arranger. On the “Dubbing In A Africa” LP, Abraham consistently realizes the project’s acoustic signature and, with titles such as “Everlasting Dub” and “King Of Kings Dub,” offers both brief interludes and dense dub elements that present the work as a distinctive contribution to Roots & Culture.

Released on Feel The Jam, the “Sonic Distorsion” 12" by Lazer Man marks a new chapter for the project and once again puts the Lazer Man name at the center of electronic club music. “Sonic Distorsion” fuses pronounced electro elements with dub and house inflections; driving bass sequences and distorted synth layers alternate with sparse, gritty percussion patterns that clearly structure the progression of each track. The production emphasizes a clear arrangement and creates space for modular synth lines that oscillate between minimal motifs and massive breaks.

As the second release on the Feel The Jam label and simultaneously the second opus by Lazer Man, the 12" delivers both club-ready energy and moments of stripped-down tension. The tracks on “Sonic Distorsion” work with recurring motifs and effects that unfold their impact on the dance floor without relying purely on volume. The stylistic range spans from electro house and dub to electronic textures, making the release appeal to listeners looking for gripping grooves and dense, synthetic sound. The suggested retail price is between €17.50 and €21.88, tax included. With “Sonic Distorsion,” Lazer Man delivers a precisely crafted 12" that further establishes Feel The Jam as a platform for uncompromising electronic tracks.

The “Oxygene (Egoless Versions)” 7-inch by Egoless is released on Nice Up and presents a respectful rendition of Jean-Michel Jarre’s 1976 classic. As producer and multi-instrumentalist, Egoless played all the parts himself and deliberately structured the arrangements around brass and rhythmic emphasis.

On the A-side you get the “Oxygéne” version (3:20), which reshapes the theme with rolling bass, syncopated offbeats, and a prominent brass lead; the B-side offers “Oxygéne Dub” (3:20), a stripped-back dub version that uses echo, reverb, and precisely layered effects to draw melodic fragments out into space. Recording and mixing took place at Empire of Tone Studio, giving the production a clear, craft-driven aesthetic.

“Agony” by Horace Andy is released on Clocktower as an LP and stands firmly in the tradition of Jamaican roots reggae. The production is handled by Jah Thomas, who places voice and rhythm in a direct production setting shaped by soul- and dancehall‑tinged reggae arrangements.

Here, too, Horace Andy delivers his trademark airy tenor, marked by vulnerable melancholy and distinctive phrasing that pulls the songs together around an immediate melodic core. His long career and his reputation as a defining roots reggae vocalist form the backdrop for the album’s material.

The combination of Andy’s vocals with Jah Thomas’s signature touch creates a balance between traditional reggae elements and contemporary production traits. The arrangements favor stripped‑down, effective accompaniment and selective dub flourishes that give the whole record room to unfold. Clocktower appears here as a label with a long history in the reggae and dub world, which helps contextualize the release.

For listeners who value Horace Andy’s vocal quality, this LP offers a concentrated presentation of his style alongside Jah Thomas’s characteristic producer’s perspective, revealing both classic and subtly updated reggae nuances.

The “Oh Jah Man / Think It Twice” 12" by Irregular Roots, released on A-Lone, brings together two distinctive versions of the title track plus an instrumental dub statement, placing a clear focus on a Roots & Culture aesthetic. The A-side carries the extended version of “Oh Jah Man,” while the B-side is completed by “Think It Twice” and the remix “Dub It Twice” by Roberto Sánchez, resulting in a set that skillfully combines vocals, rhythmic depth, and studio dub.

Produced, recorded, and mixed by Roberto Sánchez at A-Lone Ark Muzik Studio, his dub contribution occupies the B2 slot and transforms the band’s arrangement ideas into an autonomous studio version. Irregular Roots appear here with Charly on lead vocals, backed by Diego Gracia on drums and backing vocals, Nacho García on bass, Javi Mediel on guitar, and Edu García on keys; percussion parts are contributed by Roberto Sánchez and Diego Gracia. The compositions are written by Irregular Roots themselves and display an emphasis on rhythmic precision and organic instrumentation. For listeners who appreciate fully worked-out versions and the translation of roots arrangements into the dub universe, this 12" on A-Lone offers a matter-of-fact, tightly crafted addition to the current scene.

“Originally Mr Clarke (Restored, Remastered)” brings together on LP key pieces from Johnny Clarke’s body of work and presents the recordings anew in revised form. The compilation emphasizes the songs’ classic roots foundation and brings the vocalist’s distinctive melodic lines clearly to the fore without distorting the original character of the productions.

Musically, the material sits in the realm of roots reggae with clear touches of reggae pop; the lyrics range from religious themes to statements of a social nature, reflected in titles like “Jah Jah We Are Waiting” and “Our Father In Zion.” Johnny Clarke stands out for his warm, melodic voice and nuanced phrasing, which give the tracks a lasting catchiness.

Essential aspects of the production include the collaboration with Brad Osbourne and the use of renowned studios and engineers: recording and mixing took place among others at Channel One and King Tubby’s, with technicians such as Scientist, Shep, and Bob Blank involved—elements that strongly shape the sound of the tracks. The Gorgon edition thus offers a technical refresh of classic recordings while preserving their stylistic authenticity.

The “Better Late Than Never 30th Anniversary Edition” LP by The Slackers is being released on Pirates Press and pays tribute to the debut album that first brought the band attention in the 1990s. Pirates Press is reissuing the work as a high-quality LP, putting the early arrangements and the group’s characteristic playing style front and center. The edition offers the chance to rediscover the album in physical form and experience the production on vinyl with a fresh mastering approach.

The original 1996 release is marked by a clear orientation toward traditional ska and reggae; songs like “Work Song,” “Sooner or Later,” and the band’s take on “Our Day Will Come” demonstrate both melodic catchiness and subtle rhythmic sophistication. The recordings, produced by Victor Rice, benefit from warm horn arrangements, a strong bass foundation, and organic guitar work, all of which come through clearly on the 30th anniversary edition. A distinctive detail of the album is the guest appearance by Doreen Schaeffer, which lends extra presence to the closing section. With the “Better Late Than Never 30th Anniversary Edition,” Pirates Press delivers a carefully presented LP that brings out both the songs’ original energy and their sonic nuances for vinyl listeners.

The 10" “Burn A Fire, Sicrius Dub / Instrumental, Assassin Dub” by Prince Malachi, released on Dubsicarius, combines the artist’s gritty vocal performance with classic dub versions and an instrumental take, presenting a concentrated single release in the 10" format. The sequence includes the original version “Burn A Fire,” an instrumental version, and two distinct dub takes on the track that realign the arrangement through different mixes.

Since the late 1990s, Prince Malachi has stood for a spiritually oriented roots-reggae tradition in which gospel-tinged melody and socially conscious lyrics come together; this approach also shapes the voice and delivery on this release. It is characterized by clear, direct vocals and stripped-down, rhythm-focused backing, leaving room for the dub-style treatment of bass and effects tracks and thus translating the song into different sonic perspectives.

Kyle Sicarius Chandler is responsible for the dubs and the arrangement, while additional dub takes on the track by Tony Assassin contribute to the variety of the B-sides. According to the release information, mastering was handled by Russ D, resulting in a pressing that offers balanced bass response and clean dynamics. This combination of roots-oriented vocals and skillfully executed dub mixes makes this 10" on Dubsicarius a compact, stylistically clear addition to Prince Malachi’s body of work.

Blundetto’s “Slow Dance EP” 12-inch, released on Heavenly Sweetness, brings together several new versions of the title track from the project of the same name, focusing on extended and remix versions suited both to DJ sets and to listening situations at a more laid-back pace. The record includes the Extended Version of “Slow Dance,” featuring guest appearances by Lateef The Truthspeaker and Jahdan Blakkamoore, as well as the instrumental version of that mix. The B-side features remixes, including contributions from Voilaaa and Patchworks.

Musically, Blundetto’s “Slow Dance EP” draws on Roots & Culture aesthetics without foregoing treatments aimed at digital and kompa-adjacent styles: warm bass lines and sparsely placed percussion create space for the guests’ distinctive voices, while the Voilaaa remixes break the material open toward modern kompa rhythms and Patchworks brings a more electronic perspective. The collection feels like a deliberate complement to the album context, emphasizing the extended and instrumental versions just as much as the remix interpretations.

The 7-inch “Just Jah Can Help Me / Just Dub” is a split release by Murray Man & Bopper Ranking and J Robinson Whodemsound, issued in May 2026 on Whodem. With a clearly defined A and B side, the release brings classic dub structure into a compact single format and relies on stripped-back arrangements that leave plenty of space for bass and echo effects.

On the A side, Murray Man and Bopper Ranking carry the vocal line: warm, soulful singing and deliberately placed phrases meet a low-end-focused rhythm section. The track combines a roots reggae aesthetic with modern dub elements, with the guitar work adding sparse but defining accents while the bass line holds down the foundation.

The B side, “Just Dub Can Help Me,” carries the theme into an instrumental dub version, where studio techniques like delay, reverb, and sub-bass are used to intensify the sound. The session was produced by J. Robinson and mixed by Dougie Conscious; Mikey Shaw contributed the drums, and Dougie Conscious played guitar. Mastering and cutting were handled by Beau Thomas, giving the single the feel of a handcrafted dub production while still delivering contemporary precision.

The record is dominated by rhythmic bass lines, sparse dub echo effects, and incisive toasting, with tracks like “Money Man The Gal Want,” “Forty Leg,” “Step Out Of Babylon,” and “Bubbling Love” setting striking accents and shaping the character of the release.

The recording was made at Joe Gibbs’ studios and reflects the characteristic sound of Gibbs productions of the time: clear bass, punchy drums, and restrained instrumentation that gives Prince Mohammed’s DJ parts space to unfold. The sessions feature established Jamaican musicians, including bass work by Lloyd Parks, horn arrangements with Dean Fraser, as well as guitars and keyboards that support the rhythmic depth of the arrangements. Prince Mohammed’s style of toasting blends melodic flourishes with rhythmic precision, making the “Inna Him Head” LP a documentary example of the intersection between DJ practice and dub studio work on Studio 16 / Joe Gibbs Music.

The “U Tres U Dos” 7" by The Goliards Collective is released on Gatzara and presents a rocksteady-tinged, politically charged track on the A-side. Clear vocals and a sweet yet powerful rhythmic foundation carry a message that is not buried in the arrangement but delivered directly. The production remains firmly rooted in the broad tradition of Jamaican music, with the melody and groove kept restrained so that the lyrics and vocal phrasing remain the focus.

The B-side, “1312 Version,” reinterprets the motif as a dub version, shifting the energy into echo and bass arrangements. In doing so, the single reveals its dub elements without diluting its original direction. With this release, The Goliards Collective, a Barcelona-based group, continues its exploration of rocksteady, ska, and reggae, relying on analog methods and band-oriented arrangements that bring both the rhythmic foundation and the dub-style transformations into sharp focus. For listeners interested in politically charged tracks with a classic dub character, the “U Tres U Dos” 7" offers a stripped-down yet powerful statement.

Other World Music is putting the album out on vinyl, emphasizing the sensory impact of the arrangements; the LP format gives the tracks room to unfold over longer arcs and to make the nuances of sound design and rhythm audible.

Ten years on from “Love Over Will,” Alex Smoke channels on “Is With Us” experiences from experiments beyond pure electronics: collaborations with musicians, explorations of alternative tuning systems, and investigations into the role of sound in health practices all flow into the compositions. The result combines sound design, precise beats, and emotional intention into a collection that consciously resists narrow categorization, instead functioning as a reflection of beat-centered ideas. Compared to the slightly darker tone of “Love Over Will,” “Is With Us” steps forward with a noticeably more positive atmosphere — not a calculated mood shift, but a snapshot expression in downbeat, electronica, and leftfield. With this release, Alex Smoke presents a carefully tuned work that puts rhythm, texture, and feeling at the forefront.

Released on Soul Jazz, the split release “African Descendants / Black Is Black” by Alton Ellis and Freedom Singers comes as a 7" and brings together two rare Studio One cuts on a carefully edited single. With “African Descendants,” Alton Ellis delivers a gently grooving, funk-infused roots tune whose striking vocal lines and distinctive rhythmic foundation embody the classic Studio One aesthetic; the production follows in the tradition of C.S. Dodd, emphasizing warm, organic arrangements and a dense, driving bass line. In this context, Soul Jazz deliberately highlights the track as a rarity, bringing a piece of Jamaican studio history back in a modern presentation.

The flip side features the Freedom Singers with “Black Is Black,” a raw, immediate-sounding cut that combines vocal harmony work with punchy backing instrumentation. Both sides complement each other stylistically: Ellis’s voice and the choral passages of the Freedom Singers create a field of tension between soulful melancholy and danceable groove. The 7" by Soul Jazz is aimed at collectors and listeners looking for Studio One originals in precise pressing quality, and with “African Descendants / Black Is Black” it brings together two remarkable sides of the Jamaican soul-reggae repertoire.

The long-overdue revival of Bim Sherman’s catalog begins here. These essential recordings will become widely available again for the first time in decades, opening a new chapter in the appreciation of one of Jamaica’s most distinctive voices and representing a major moment for reggae and dub aficionados around the world. This reissue series will not only preserve his legacy but will also offer listeners the chance to experience the depth and timeless resonance of Sherman’s work in its full glory. Bim Sherman—born Jarret Lloyd Vincent, in Westmoreland, Jamaica—holds a unique place in reggae history. Emerging in the mid 70s, his ethereal, haunting vocal style quickly set him apart from his contemporaries. He was soon collaborating with the top producers and musicians of the era, including Adrian Sherwood and the On-U Sound collective, bridging the gap between roots reggae and experimental dub and laying the groundwork for the fusion of Jamaican sounds with the vibrant underground scene in the UK. His career, from Kingston to London to Mumbai, was marked by an artistic daring and spiritual intensity that has earned him enduring respect across generations. The centerpiece of this reissue campaign is Ghetto Dub from 1988, a record that distills Sherman’s artistry into its most potent form. Originally released in a limited number, the album embodies the stark yet soulful beauty of dub production. With its reverb-drenched drums, cavernous basslines, and echo-laden atmospherics, Ghetto Dub transforms Sherman’s various tracks into spectral presences that drift in and out of the mix. The arrangement and production—minimal yet profoundly textured—captures both the raw urgency of Jamaican street culture and the forward-looking experimentation of the UK dub scene. Each track unfolds like a meditation, balancing grit with grace, density with space. Ghetto Dub is more than an album; it is an immersive soundscape that reaffirms Bim Sherman as one of reggae’s most otherworldly and visionary figures.

The compilation "Phantom Dream Va 01" is the first various‑artists release by the new Berlin label Phantom Dream and comes as a 12" vinyl. The selection clearly operates at the intersection of techno, minimal, and tech house, and stands out for an impressively mature production approach that gives equal space to stripped‑down structures and hypnotic grooves. Phantom Dream relies on precisely placed rhythmic elements and dense soundscapes that recall the deeper, more atmospheric side of the ’90s without slipping into nostalgia.

The release gains particular weight from an outstanding remix by Thomas Melchior (Melchior Productions Ltd), which strongly underscores the return to ’90s deep techno and house. Melchior’s contribution acts as the compilation’s anchor point, distilling its concept: minimalist arrangements meet recurring, trance‑like motifs. "Phantom Dream Va 01" thus presents a focused selection of tracks that seem designed both for club use and for longer, immersive DJ sets, positioning the label as a go‑to source for subtle, hypnotic techno.

The “Studio One Dub Plate Special” compilation under the “Soul Jazz Records presents” banner brings together ten previously unreleased cuts from the Studio One archive and is released on the Soul Jazz label as a strictly limited special edition, originally offered as an exclusive Record Store Day release. This edition compiles the rare versions, which had previously circulated only as hand-etched one-sided 12" dub plates, into a collector’s format and presents unadulterated takes and alternate cuts as they were played on the original dub plates.

On “Studio One Dub Plate Special” you’ll find contributions from Alton Ellis, Cedric Brooks, The Officials, Soul Brothers, Carey Johnson, Brentford All Stars, and Jacob Miller; some tracks are presented here in alternate versions or are being released for the first time outside of dubplate circulation. With this compilation, Soul Jazz not only documents rare mixes, it also offers insight into Coxsone Dodd’s production practice and the role of dubplates in the Studio One environment. The selection is deliberately focused on tracks and sources, making the “Studio One Dub Plate Special” box a precise cross-section of unusual Studio One rarities.

The 7" Perseverance, released on Silsila Dubs, features two mixes: the title track "Perseverance" on the A-side and its instrumental "Version" on the B-side. The release is rooted in the sonic tradition of the British sound system scene and focuses on heavy basslines, sparse melodic figures, and expansive delay and reverb spaces that lend the dub a meditative sense of spaciousness.

Behind the project is Govind Singh, who wrote, produced, and mixed the tracks; he operates within the Mya-Hi‑Fi milieu, which is closely connected to the label. The production takes its cues from 1990s recording techniques and was realized through the cult Soundcraft Ghost console at Silsila HQ, giving the arrangements analog warmth and spatial depth. Musically, the material nods to Jah Shaka, Aba‑Shanti‑I, and classic dub formats without feeling retrospective.

With Perseverance, Silsila Dubs positions itself as a new link between tradition-minded dub aesthetics and contemporary production; the concise 7-inch format distills the concept down to a few striking elements while still leaving room for the Version to function as an echo chamber and a space for sonic exploration.

The “Melodies International Presents Ariwa Sounds” 2LP by Mad Professor has been released on Melodies International and brings together a 15-track compilation that traces the work of the legendary Ariwa label over a span of 45 years. The selection is deliberately not a classic “best of” collection, but offers a personal pick from the Ariwa catalog that showcases both powerful vocal lovers rock cuts and the label’s more experimental dub side.

The tracklist spotlights some of the most distinctive voices in the label’s history — including Johnny Clarke, Sandra Cross, Kofi, U Roy, Sister Nancy, Queen Omega, Aisha, Abel Miller, and Horace Andy — and makes clear how Motown and Stax influences in lovers rock are combined with rougher dub aesthetics. The songs range thematically from love tunes and socially conscious messages to stripped-down studio experiments, all while preserving the characteristic Ariwa sound: warm, bass-heavy, and rich in detail.

Produced by Mad Professor and curated by Melodies International, the compilation was remastered from the original tapes by Frank Merritt at The Carvery; the release is available in physical formats as a double LP, CD, and digital, underlining Ariwa’s commitment to sound quality and authenticity. The artwork and graphic design pick up on the record’s creative collage aesthetic and round out the portrait of one of the most influential independent reggae labels in the UK.

The "El Reloj / Lluvia Con Nieve" 7" by Memi Sillah & Lenin "Güiroloco" meets The Jeggaes was released on Gatzara and brings together two renditions of classic Latino compositions that are clearly defined style-wise. On the A-side, "El Reloj" (Roberto Cantoral) is translated into an elegant rocksteady guise that preserves the melancholic, romantic core of the original while setting its own accents through slow, driving grooves and warm brass tones.

The B-side transforms "Lluvia Con Nieve" (Edraín "Mon" Rivera) into an instrumentally focused ska version, carried by powerful horn arrangements, a lively rhythmic foundation, and melodic ensemble parts. Both sides are framed as a tribute to and celebration of the Latin American song tradition, while at the same time building a bridge to rocksteady and ska aesthetics. This release is part of the Latin Goes Ska series, a collaboration between Gatzara, Sotasons, and STQBlack.

Characteristic of the production are the use of analog working methods and a band setup that relies on clear arrangements: vocals by Memi Sillah and Lenin "Güiroloco," trombone, arrangements, and production by Josep Blanes, plus contributions from Pol Prats (sax), Pol Gómez Carbó (guitar), Mario Coloma (keys), Ricard Tejada (bass), and Indra Vila (drums). Recording and mixing were handled by Asier "Piña" Del Alamo (No Tokar Records), with mastering by Oscar Pablos "Ojah," resulting in a meticulously crafted blend of tradition and contemporary execution.

The "Garden Of Life / Version" 7" by Leroy Heptone aka Leroy Sibbles is released on Shella and brings a long-sought, horn-heavy take of the tune back into circulation. The release lays bare the original urgency of the recording and presents both the A-side and the dub side in a clear, roots-oriented form.

The A-side is a raw, deeply rooted take on "Garden Of Life," originally recorded in the 1970s when Leroy Sibbles spent several years living in Toronto. It is defined by a driving vocal arrangement, a striking horn section, and bubbling organ work that give this version its unmistakable, soulful tone; this cut is considered one of Leroy’s personal favorites.

The B-side offers a version that transports you straight into the atmosphere of the converted garage studio of 1975: dub techniques and snatches of conversation between the musicians, captured on vinyl, create a documentary-like soundscape. Producer Sid Lovejoy celebrates his Toronto productions here, which, alongside further rarities from his series, are brought to light on this release. This edition is one of three official releases that make Lovejoy’s work newly accessible — including the repressings of Rothadam’s "Rebel" and Sid Lovejoy’s own "King Kong Man."

The “Round & Round” 12-inch by Rossiter, released on Goodtunes, follows the launch of his own label, Dustbin Digs, and marks the Manchester-based producer’s fifth release on Goodtunes. Four original productions combine tech house with bouncing rhythms, deep bass pressure, and dub influences.

“Feels So Good” opens Side A with a rhythmic shuffle, hints of UK garage, a determined bassline, and expansive, spacey chords. “Go Straight” continues this momentum, working with airy dub structures and allowing individual key tones to flicker at the edges of the action. Rossiter holds the tension together with precisely placed rhythms.

On Side B, “Round & Round” pushes the low end forward, developing it into a driving, straight-ahead groove. “P45” then returns to familiar territory: nostalgic chords meet stumbling, deliberately detached beats. Interview samples of British producer and DJ Grooverider give the track an additional connection to the history of British dance music. In this way, “Round & Round” presents a balanced progression between heavy basslines, floating soundscapes, and nimble breaks.

The “Caribbean Serenade” LP by Roots Organisation, aDUBta, and The Black Oak Roots Allstars is being released on F-Spot and opens up a warm, nostalgic sonic space that fuses reggae and rocksteady elements with the richness of swing-oriented horn arrangements. The release is defined by six instrumental compositions, each paired with a live-mixed dub version, creating an immediately tangible interplay between melodic lead lines and echo-drenched depth. On the album, the horns move into the foreground; their four-part voicings form the melodic backbone, while organic groove foundations leave room for subtle solos.

At the heart of the project is the long-standing collaboration between Martin Mayr (Roots Organisation), Mauricio-Jorán Ceseña and Jannis Klenke (The Black Oak Roots Allstars), and producer and multi-instrumentalist aDUBta, which lends the recording its familiar precision. Mayr plays saxophone and flute and was responsible for the horn and woodwind arrangements; Simon Kintopp contributes striking trombone solos, and Fabian Supancic provides the earthy organ foundation. At the Attic Roots Studio sessions, aDUBta handled tracking and mixing with a deliberately analog approach, with live-performed dub mixes on a Tascam 388 creating the characteristic echo space. Compositions by Andreas Bauer, Mauricio-Jorán Ceseña, Jannis Klenke, and Marc Ibarz round out this artfully balanced work.

Oryo, Makiko and Indica Dubs’ “Waza / Musubi” 10-inch is released on the Indica Dubs label as a limited white-vinyl edition with a fully printed sleeve. The release combines British roots dub production with two special contributions from Japan, bringing Oryo and Makiko’s musical ideas together with riddims by Indica Dubs.

Oryo plays violin on “Waza.” The title refers to a refined skill and evokes masterful technique, precise timing, and the interplay of mind, body, and will. Oryo’s instrument adds a distinctive melodic layer to the reggae and dub framework produced by Indica Dubs. The second side belongs to Makiko, whose melodica playing defines “Musubi.” The term represents connection, creation, and the bringing together of individual elements into a harmonious whole.

In addition to the two vocal and instrumental tracks, the 10-inch also includes two dub versions, “Waza Dub” and “Musubi Dub.” In this way, Indica Dubs places the violin and melodica contributions once again in a context more strongly focused on rhythm, space, and sound processing. The release was supported, among others, by Channel One, King Earthquake, Young Warrior, and Pressure High, and marks a special meeting between Indica Dubs’ London-based dub production and the Japanese musical culture of Oryo and Makiko.

UK-based reggae veteran Macka B takes listeners on a journey back to the roots of Jamaican music with the release of his new single, "Memories." Recorded over the powerful Diverse Doctrine Riddim, "Memories" is a tribute to the golden era of reggae, celebrating a time when Roots Reggae dominated the dance halls. With enthralling lyrics and authentic reggae instrumentation, Macka B reflects on the lively dancehall culture of the 1970s—a period when conscious roots music, militant messages, heavyweight sound systems, and spirited community gatherings defined Jamaica's musical landscape.
