"Hijos Del Sol" by Hermanos Gutiérrez is released as an LP on Discos G and brings together ten instrumental pieces that move between concise melodic arcs and more extended atmospheric passages. The selection ranges from compact tracks such as "Railroad Vista" to eponymous arrangements, with the record maintaining a unified dramatic arc and placing instrumental storytelling at the center.

Musically, "Hijos Del Sol" fuses Latin American guitar roots with Western and Southwestern hues; lap‑steel‑like textures, rhythmic percussion, and interwoven guitar lines shape the sound. Characteristic of Hermanos Gutiérrez is the seamless interlocking of two guitar parts that are coordinated melodically and rhythmically to such an extent that lead lines and accompaniment feel inseparable. This combination gives the pieces a narrative quality without relying on vocals.

Behind the project are the brothers Alejandro and Estevan Gutiérrez, whose biographical background and travel impressions from Mexico and the American Southwest provide essential source material for the compositions. The release has been made available through their own label, Discos G; the brothers are responsible for the arrangements and instrumental realization, giving the record a clear, distinctive artistic signature.

In the early 90s, led by Nicola Conte, the Fez collective in Bari, Italy, reshaped contemporary jazz through groove, experimentation and a distinctly Mediterranean sensibility. Within this environment the earliest recordings associated with what would become Schema Records first appeared, released at the time through Right Tempo. With a series of three 45rpm releases Schema Records revisits some of its earliest productions, all newly remastered from the original masters. The first 7” in this series includes Quintetto X’s reinterpretation of Marcos Valle’s classic “Mentira”, here proposed in a completely new format, as a two-part composition, unfolding across both sides of a 45 rpm single. Originally released in 1994 on a rare EP, the track perfectly captures the musical identity of Quintetto X: sophisticated rhythms, refined jazz harmonies and melodic ideas shaped by both Brazilian influences and the vibrant acid jazz scene of the European club music.

"Carolina, Carol Bela" by DJ Koco Aka Shimokita feat. Q.A.S.B. is available as a 7" on Bloom Music (BLMS-023) and combines DJ Koco’s DJ expertise with the soulful band sound of Q.A.S.B. The single presents itself as a compact, vinyl-focused edition that deliberately brings out the track’s grooves and melodic motifs.

DJ Koco Aka Shimokita is known for his love of 7" pressings and his precise work with 45 rpm material; his style is characterized by careful selection, creative re-edits, and a keen sense for rhythmic nuances. This working method suggests that his take on the track on this record integrates both DJ-oriented arrangements and playful live elements.

Q.A.S.B. bring their background in modern soul and funk to the table; the band regularly works with acoustic and horn-driven arrangements that combine vocal warmth and instrumental finesse. Their contribution gives the version additional organic character and positions the A-side between retro soul and contemporary club aesthetics.

The title refers to the classic “Carolina, Carol Bela” theme by Jorge Ben/Toquinho, which for decades has served as a source for remixes and sample-based takes and has thus also gained recognition in the electronic scene. DJ Koco takes up this tradition and translates the melodic legacy into a 7"-friendly format that speaks to DJs and listeners alike.

Hidden away amidst the bustle of Rio de Janeiro’s Catete neighbourhood is a small alleyway behind a cast iron gate. At its end is Bairro Saavedra, the courtyard surrounded by Neo-colonial houses where Brazilian guitar virtuoso Fabiano do Nascimento spent much of his childhood. Built in 1928, this secluded neighbourhood with its wooden shutters, tiled floors and tranquil benches, provides the inspiration for the title of Do Nascimento’s new album VILA, a collaborative project with a sixteen piece orchestra led by trombonist and arranger Vittor Santos.

Recorded between Rio de Janeiro and Los Angeles, VILA is grand, tender, warm, playful and nostalgic. On this stunningly ambitious work, the delicate compositions led by Nascimento's guitar, which sits central in the mix, are surrounded by Santos’ breathtaking orchestral arrangements which swirl in all directions: complimenting, questioning, responding; in constant conversation.

Like the eclecticism of the architecture Do Nascimento grew up surrounded by, his music straddles many worlds at once. He is known as a Brazilian acoustic guitar master and as such has collaborated with Arthur Verocai, Airto Moreira and Itibere Zwarg. But equally at home in Los Angeles's jazz and experimental music scenes, Do Nascimento is also known for his work with artists like Sam Gendel and Carlos Nino.

Vittor Santos is an arranger and Trombonist who has worked extensively with many of the greats of Brazilian music, including João Donato, Marcos Valle, Toninho Horta, and Elza Soares.

The orange vinyl edition of the "Os Tincoas" LP by Os Tincoas is being released on Music On Vinyl; the 180-gram pressing is limited to 1,000 individually numbered copies and marks the first regular vinyl availability of the album since 1980.

Os Tincoas rank among the distinctive voices of Brazilian MPB, with close ties to Afro-Bahian tradition. Their repertoire weaves together samba roots, Candomblé chants, and multi-part vocal harmonies into a dense, culturally grounded sound. Their take is characterized by sparse instrumentation and a strong focus on vocal nuances, giving the songs a sacral intensity without denying their roots in the popular sphere.

Distinctive aspects of this release include arrangements by acclaimed musicians: João Donato contributed orchestral and harmonic additions to several tracks, while Oberdan Magalhães and Leonardo Bruno handled additional arrangement work. The LP also features the track "Cordeiro de Nanã," regarded as one of the ensemble’s defining songs and frequently cited in secondary sources as a key track.

The 12" “Copa Astral” by Fabio Santanna was released on Onda Boa. “Copa Astral” fuses Brazilian boogie, disco, and Balearic grooves into a warm, nostalgic sound that radiates both sunny lightness and subtly charged dance energy. On this release, Fabio Santanna explores the interface between classic Brazilian rhythmic forms and modern groove aesthetics, giving the tracks an inviting atmosphere that recalls beachside sets and laid-back club nights. With its release on Onda Boa, “Copa Astral” joins the label’s Latin/Brazil program and underscores Santanna’s feel for melodic lines and rhythmic subtleties within a contemporary production concept.

Between the late 1960s and the mid-1980s, musicians across the Dutch Caribbean islands of Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten created music that crossed stylistic boundaries, forming a close-knit network shaped by common histories and identities, while rarely receiving wider recognition. From the psychedelic funk of local stars Sugar Ice Tea and Cryptus Confession to the Latin influences of visiting musicians like Puerto Rican star Mon Rivera via Surinamese-influenced soul and the garage rock of Los Honda, the islands nourished a huge array of styles and talent. Antiyano Progresivo unfolds against the backdrop of a rapidly transforming Caribbean. During the twentieth century, oil industries, migration and tourism reshaped the islands, creating unparalleled cultural exchange while deepening social divisions. African, Latin American, North American and European musical traditions intertwined with local forms, producing a rich and distinctive musical landscape. Tambú, tumba, calypso and Caribbean dance music coexisted alongside soul, funk, psychedelic rock, reggae, Latin music and American and British pop. Musicians moved fluidly between these styles, developing sounds that were unmistakably local while remaining connected to wider currents across the Caribbean and beyond. The period also coincided with growing movements for cultural and political self determination. Events such as Curaçao's Trinta di Mei uprising in 1969, the emergence of Black Power movements and increasing calls for greater autonomy fostered renewed pride in African heritage, local languages and cultural expression. These ideas resonated through music, inspiring artists to challenge conventions and create work that reflected changing identities.

It doesn’t get much more special than this one. The music industry loves throwing around phrases like 'rare as hens' teeth' and 'holy grail', but Ricardo Marrero & The Group’s 1976 album A Taste genuinely earns them. A mythical and elusive release in its original form, for many it’s an unattainable prize in the Discogs wantlist, and one far out of reach financially. Even though it’s already been reissued by other amazing record labels over the years, we really wanted to make a Mr Bongo edition to pay homage to the album’s greatness and to keep this iconic gem in print, and at an affordable price for all.

The scarcity of Ricardo Marrero & The Group's iconic A Taste released in 1976 grew from the foundations of its release on the notorious TSG Records. Run by Lloyd Price, with alleged ties to boxing promoter Don King, TSG was one of the tax scam labels of the 1970s created to exploit a loophole in the US tax system. Such labels would run up inflated production costs and losses that investors or the parent label could write off against their tax bills.

A Taste was never intended to be promoted and distributed properly and was thus lost in the musical ether of this 1970s farce. However, the album is not merely sought-after due to its rarity, it’s an amazing listen throughout. Though categorised as a ‘Latin’ album, it incorporates so much more. It has a warm, boundary-pushing sound and a lush fusion of Latin, jazz-funk, and soul with a cinematic edge; it’s varied yet feels complete as a whole.

One of the crown jewels of the album is the much-loved Latin funk anthem ‘Babalonia’. Different versions of this dancefloor gem have been recorded and released by Marrero on other labels, but this version is a certified monster. The often overlooked ‘Get Yourself Together’ is a real curveball, feeling like it should have been featured on an independent gospel private press - both uplifting and spiritual. Elsewhere, ‘And We'll Make Love’, which was penned by bassist Michael Viñas, radiates with an earthy soul-jazz / rare groove quality. Other highlights include the raw Latin funk dancer ‘Algo’, with the album entering a straighter Latin / Nuyorican realm on ‘Vengo’ and ‘A Taste Of Latin’.

Whether you’re a Latin enthusiast, someone who wants to investigate and dig into the genre for the first time, or someone who just wants an unquestionably great album to listen to, this record has something for everyone. A true classic!

The "Di Melo" LP by Di Melo is being released on Tamba. This 180-gram limited edition pressing puts the artist’s legendary debut back in the spotlight.

Recorded in 1975, the album fuses Brazilian rhythms with funk, soul, and a touch of psychedelia; short, incisive songs such as "Kilario" and "A Vida Em Seus Metodos Diz Calma" reveal a striking melodic density and remarkable vocal versatility. Stylistically, Di Melo moves between MPB tradition and urban Black music, with arrangements that leave space for delicate horn and guitar lines while at the same time being driven by tightly focused grooves.

For this reissue, the original insert with lyrics and rare family photos has been reproduced; in addition, the expanded credits list, for the first time, all the musicians involved by name. Among the contributors are, among others, Hermeto Pascoal and guitarist Heraldo do Monte, underscoring both the musical breadth and the meticulous craftsmanship of the recordings. As such, this re-release offers not only a sonic but also a documentary reappraisal of this important chapter in Brazilian music.

The “Helio Matheus” LP by Helio Matheus is released on Tamba and brings together ten pieces from his classically inspired singer-songwriter repertoire, which combines elements of MPB, soul, and funk. The compositions strike a balance between acoustic guitar work, warm arrangements, and concise melodies that put the vocals front and center while still leaving room for rhythmic subtleties.

Helio Matheus appears here as both songwriter and performer; his lyrics revolve around everyday observations, depictions of relationships, and subtle social reflections, without ever abandoning the lightness of the Brazilian song tradition. Striking throughout are the sparse yet effective instrumentations, ranging from guitar figures and subtly used horns to soulful bass lines, giving the album an organic, timeless sound.

Producers and arrangers are involved in the making of the record, reinforcing its warm sonic character and bringing Helio Matheus’s voice clearly to the fore; individual tracks like “Comunicação” rank among his best-known compositions and underscore his importance as a writer within the Brazilian song tradition. This LP release documents the artistic signature of an author who brings together songwriting, melodic catchiness, and a subtle groove.

Finn Rees is back on Mr Bongo with a brand-new EP Feel The Sun. Two years since the release of his highly acclaimed debut album Dawn Is A Melody, Finn serves up a vibrant, groove-driven celebration of jazz across three dynamic tracks, topped off with a Close Counters dancefloor remix. The four compositions are an ode to our innate ability to channel positive energy from the great force of life through the circular motion of the seasons.

A celebrated jazz musician, composer, producer and keyboardist, Finn Rees is one of the cream of the crop when it comes to Naarm / Melbourne’s vibrant DIY music scene. With a reputation for his masterfully expressive keys playing and genre-blending approach, he has been touring far and wide both under his solo project and as one half of dance-focussed duo Close Counters. Not stopping there, he is a go-to keys player for many of his contemporaries. Following the release of his collaborative two-tracker with Sholto last year, Finn returns to Mr Bongo with this captivating new solo EP.

Feel The Sun begins its cycle with ‘Another Spring’. A Brazilian-inspired, uplifting jazz fusion dancer encapsulating riding the wave of the sun returning, the rush of seasons and remembering to make the moment while you have it. It’s something Finn has been lucky enough to witness across the globe, but as he mentions, “I also reflected on ‘spring’ as a symbol of the inner creative life force available to us in any moment. Each creative idea feels like a fresh opening of light, a new bud opening up”. The track starts with echoes of César Camargo Mariano before dropping into a sweeping, orchestrated dancer. “The odd 7/4 time jam (inspired by the great Brazilian group Zimbo Trio) keeps you on your toes moving between a punchy horn motif and the rich string ensemble that lifts you up and carries you”.

Next the title track opens out as a 9-minute jazz dance odyssey. “I’ve always wanted to create a tune that brings orchestrated elements and lush horns onto the dancefloor. A track that takes you on a real journey throughout, almost like Harry Thumann or David Matthews Big Band. The mood is again about nourishing the good moments while you can. I wrote it after most of the world was able to move freely again in 2022, ‘Feel the sun as it comes around, for it cannot stay too long’”, Finn says.

Moving forward, ‘Torn’ leans into the realm of jazzy hip hop, featuring a formidable groove held down by Lucky Pereira on drums and Junior Terry on upright bass as well as a blistering flute solo by Erica Tucceri. “This one is a bit of a nod to Tribe Called Quest and Bobbi Humphrey who were some of my favourite early introductions to jazz and groove”, Finn states. “The melody (layered with flute, tenor sax and moog synth) plays around with the main motif then gradually crescendos, moving through different keys until it reaches a climax before back crashing down”.

Closing out the EP, Finn joins with his Close Counters partner Allan McConnell to serve up a clubbier take on ‘Feel The Sun’. The resulting remix is a cosmic-leaning, synth heavy interpretation, full of celestial nods and bubbling energy.

The "Carlos. Erasmo..." LP by Erasmo Carlos is released on Tamba and marks an important turning point in his body of work, in which he fuses pop, soul, and the influences of the Brazilian music scene of his time into a sound that is very much his own.

The record captures Erasmo Carlos in a songwriting mode that touches on both personal and social themes; rich in melody yet rougher than many of his earlier recordings, it presents a blend of Jovem Guarda roots, MPB sensibility, and occasional soulful shadings. Arrangements and harmonic details create space for vocal lines that define the distinct character of his sound.

In the production, Erasmo worked closely with Manoel Barenbein; the arrangements are mostly by Chiquinho de Moraes, while several individual tracks feature additional notable contributors. Instrumental contributions by musicians such as Dinho Leme and Liminha give the record extra drive, and the track "Ciça, Cecília" was realized as a special production by Nelson Motta with an arrangement by Arthur Verocai.

Standout tracks include "De noite na cama," "Ciça, Cecília," "26 anos de vida normal," and "Maria Joana," spanning the spectrum from introspective ballads to more rhythm-driven cuts. Taken as a whole, the LP showcases the powerful songwriting and stylistic versatility of Erasmo Carlos.

The LP “8 Años” by Hermanos Gutiérrez, released on Discos G, brings together eight concise instrumental pieces that mark the beginning of the collaboration between brothers Alejandro and Estevan. The tracks range from melodic guitar studies to shorter, driving compositions; titles like “Venganza,” “8 Años,” and “Mi Amor” form the core of the record. The release dates back to the duo’s first year and represents the starting point for their subsequent work.

Musically, “8 Años” moves between Latin American roots and a gently nostalgic guitar sound that recalls traditional folk forms, surf, and Western aesthetics. It is shaped by two tightly interwoven guitar parts, occasional lap steel accents, and stripped-down rhythms that leave plenty of space for melodic lines. This pared-back, instrumental approach is a hallmark of Hermanos Gutiérrez and makes their style unmistakable.

The production comes from the brothers themselves; the recording feels deliberately intimate and crafted, often with a homemade character that emphasizes the direct, personal tone of their early work. The LP edition on Discos G brings these early pieces back to a physical format and is aimed at listeners who want to experience the duo’s origins. For collectors and newcomers alike, “8 Años” offers a clear view of the musical identity of Hermanos Gutiérrez.

The “Dois Desertos” LP by João Pimenta Gomes is released on Amor In Sound and presents the result of a direct, improvisation-friendly studio session in Los Angeles. Produced by Mario Caldato Jr., the recordings were made in a single day at Eagle Rock Studio: simple scores, plenty of space for spontaneous shaping, and live takes with no overdubs form the working principle that defines the sound of the record. With this release, Amor In Sound accompanies the artistic reorientation of João Pimenta Gomes and embraces a stripped-down, contemplative sonic aesthetic.

At the center of the sound image is the Cristal Baschet, whose glass-resonant textures tend to lay the foundations, while bass and cello carry the melodic lines; the sessions feature, among others, Abe Rounds (drums, percussion) and Gabe Noel (bass, cello). Recording and mixing followed a live philosophy: level changes and effects were printed in real time to the final two-track master, preserving the immediate presence of the performances. Elements of traditional Portuguese fado appear in a new, open context; cinematic references to “Model Shop” and “Los Angeles Plays Itself” lend the album its contemplative Los Angeles perspective. Mario Caldato Jr.’s role as producer and the curatorial approach of Amor In Sound underline the collaboration between artistic experimental freedom and the label’s attentive support.

The “O Mensageiro” 7-inch by Trio Ternura is released on Vampisoul and brings together two recordings by the Brazilian family trio that had previously appeared only as singles. The A-side features the title track, a fast-paced, catchy number with a pronounced feel for rhythm and immediate impact. The B-side features “Razão De Ser” from 1972, whose Brazilian sonic colors, soul influences, and distinctive vocal harmonies define the special character of this release.

Trio Ternura consisted of three siblings and developed a style of its own between Brazilian pop music, soul, and artfully arranged choral vocals. The interplay between the voices gives “Razão De Ser” its melodic depth, while “O Mensageiro,” with its lively tempo and memorable hook, is clearly aimed at the dance floor. Both tracks were among the recordings that did not appear on the LPs released at the time.

Vampisoul is reissuing the material on 7-inch for the first time and has both tracks playing at 45 rpm. As a result, “O Mensageiro” places a lesser-known yet musically incredibly characteristic side of Trio Ternura at the center. The release combines Brazilian rhythms, soulful warmth, and layered vocals into a focused portrait of the trio from the early 1970s.

The 12" “Super Disco Edits Brazil Jazz Funk” (2026 repress), released on Legofunk, is a compilation that brings together four carefully crafted edits and puts a tangible tropical flavor front and center. With this release, Legofunk relies on stripped-back arrangements and punchy groove reworks that transform the original motifs into bolder shapes suited for clubs and DJ sets. The edition underscores the character of edits without resorting to the usual embellishments and keeps the listening dynamics tight.

The tracklist explicitly showcases the mix of artists: Alexny opens with “Harina De Maiz,” Alkalino contributes “Bate Tambor,” Lego Edit delivers “D.D.B,” and Scruscru closes with “Gold Velvet.” Each rework focuses on rhythmic clarity and danceable structures, while Legofunk curates the selection so that the EP functions as four gems that slot easily into different sets. “Super Disco Edits Brazil Jazz Funk” remains straightforward in its construction, yet offers enough melodic and percussive nuances to reveal new details on repeat plays. For collectors and DJs looking for compact, edit-driven releases, Legofunk has delivered a distinctive statement with this 12".

With the LP “Triumph And Sadness,” released on Mr Bongo, Ella Thompson presents a compelling work that provides a coherent musical continuation of her previous output. The singer and multi-instrumentalist based in Naarm/Melbourne weaves soul traditions together with contemporary, cinematic production elements; her vocals move between delicate falsetto passages and a warm chest register, allowing her to carry both heartfelt ballads and more driving, danceable arrangements.

Ella Thompson’s work is marked by close collaboration with the local scene: members of Surprise Chef and Karate Boogaloo, as well as producers from the Temporary Blessings circle, shape the instrumental density, while carefully placed horn and string arrangements lend the tracks additional warmth. The production aims for an organic sound palette that combines analog keys, vintage-inspired guitars and subtly used percussion, creating an interplay between melancholic calm and charged moments.

Comparing the new LP with earlier releases such as the “Domino” EP and the album “Ripple On The Wing,” a consistent development in song structures and overall dramaturgy becomes apparent: the compositions rely on clear melodic lines, rich harmonies, and a keen sense for tension and release. “Triumph And Sadness” affirms Ella Thompson’s position as a representative of modern, sensually inflected soul, while at the same time broadening the scope of her artistic expression.

Cartola’s “Cartola” LP on Tamba presents the late, formative period of one of Brazil’s most important samba composers in a calm, carefully arranged form. The album documents compositions such as “O Mundo É Um Moinho” and “As Rosas Não Falam,” distinguished by sparse guitar accompaniment and a uniquely warm, resonant voice. These songs clearly convey the performer’s lyrical affinity for melancholy and observations of everyday life. The production emphasizes acoustic intimacy: vocals and nylon-string guitar remain at the center throughout, while restrained brass and string passages expand the harmonic framework.

Maestro Horondino Silva (Dino) is responsible for the musical arrangements, joined by guitar contributions from Guinga, among others, as well as Airton Barbosa on bass and Canhoto on cavaquinho; Creusa adds vocal accents on selected tracks. Juarez Barroso served as producer, while Norival Reis oversaw the project and handled the mixing. The “Cartola” LP on Tamba presents this material in a concentrated edition that highlights both Cartola’s compositional caliber and the fine craftsmanship of the accompanying musicians, offering a piece of Brazilian songwriting in a clear, atmospheric presentation.

The "Cantiga de Longe" 12" by Edu Lobo has been released on Week-End. Originally issued in 1970, the album is being made available again here for the first time and comes with new liner notes by Edu Lobo that expand on the historical context and artistic intention.

The work is regarded as a key album in Lobo’s career and as a striking example of the ongoing evolution of Música Popular Brasileira (MPB): the tracks combine a fundamentally acoustic, guitar-led approach with jazz-tinged chord progressions and elegant arrangements that leave space for subtle melodic development and nuanced phrasing. Thematically, the songs revolve around memory, distance, loneliness, and time—motifs that resonated with particular force in the climate of early-1970s Brazil. The production moves between intimacy and expansive harmonic language without lapsing into overt forms of protest.

In addition to Edu Lobo’s controlled yet expressive vocals, the contributions of Hermeto Pascoal are especially decisive for the album’s sonic texture; his imaginative instrumental parts add fine harmonic color and atmospheric depth. They are joined by percussion and drums from longtime collaborators such as Airto Moreira and Claudio Slon, as well as bass work by José Marino; Aloysio de Oliveira served as producer. This edition underscores the artistic maturity of the album and its importance within the MPB universe.

Curió Curió came to flight by chance. Two artists, Rio-born, Austria-based singer and actress Luiza Monteiro and German producer Dustin Braun, had separately reached a fork in their journeys. An opportune encounter soon blossomed into an uplifting, heartfelt Brazilian MPB-groove project shaped by psychedelic disco and studio experimentation. In their own words Curió Curió’s sonic vision “is not straight disco, not straight samba, not strictly old-school but inspired by all of them, creating something contemporary but still nostalgic”. A modern fusion influenced as much by Gal Costa and Jorge Ben Jor as Say She She and Bala Desejo, their sound deftly plots a course all of its own. A celebration of freedom, movement, love and life, intertwined with introspective moments of reflection. Treating tradition as something alive, migratory and unresolved, the album is not simply bound by a shared love of Brazilian music, but by a deeper question that runs through every track; where does one belong when home becomes plural? As a Brazilian living in Europe, Luiza's lyrics explore themes of identity, culture, and existence. The tracks move between cities and emotional registers without settling, tracing a sense of identity that shifts rather than resolves. Songs like ‘Amor Doente’ and ‘Mar sem Dar Pé’ circle around relationships that resist clarity, while ‘Menina Passarinho’ captures the fear and necessity of committing to music as a path. For Luiza, deepening her commitment to music alongside years in theatre was both inevitable and difficult. Braun’s production follows a similar logic. Initial ideas were often built without obvious reference points, only later incorporating rhythmic and vocal elements that hint at Brazil without reproducing it. Analogue techniques, tape, ribbon microphones and live ensemble recording bring a tactile quality that reflects the duo’s interest in process as much as outcome. Highlights include ‘Bem Querer’, built on an authentic samba street vibe with a super-catchy sing-along chorus, and ‘Vem pra Casa’ with its cosmic-tinged Brazilian boogie flavour. The album closes with ‘A Cor do Meu Sonho’, a quiet act of insistence. A refusal to shrink in unfamiliar environments, and a belief in the strength of difference. It is less a conclusion than a continuation, leaving the central question open. “I started to understand that I can belong to many places at once”, Luiza reflects. “And that can be something to embrace”. Lyrics from the song ‘Raiz’ translate in English to “I value a burning sun and the cold in the air. Constant change is my companion”. With Curió Curió, that idea is lived through sound, story and collaboration. A debut that feels both searching and assured, grounded in heritage yet shaped by distance.

Mr Bongo is proud to present a 10th anniversary reissue of O Terno’s contemporary Brazilian classic Melhor do Que Parece from 2016. Ranked by Rolling Stone Brazil as one of the best releases of 2016, it is a delicate blend of Tropicália-inspired, psychedelic rock and indie, rich in ‘60s and ‘70s influences, that feels as relevant and fresh now as it did 10 years ago.

O Terno is made up of three titans from the current Brazilian independent scene: Tim Bernardes on vocals and guitar, Guilherme d’Almeida on bass and Gabriel Basile on drums. Each has gone on to forge themselves as influential members in the Brazilian scene in their solo projects and collaborations with other artists since O Terno went on hiatus in 2024. Bernardes has since become a musical ambassador outside of Brazil, releasing two Latin Grammy nominated solo albums, collaborating with artists ranging from Gal Costa to Fleet Foxes, Maria Bethânia to Jards Macalé, and establishing himself among the musicians connected to the 1970s scene. Basile has worked closely with Sessa and features on records by Soyuz, anaiis, Bruno Berle and more. Both Basile and Guilherme also form part of the group Grand Bazaar, a dance-orientated outfit drawing on gypsy, Balkan, Mediterranean and Brazilian influences.

Recorded across an intense three-month period where the trio spent 12 hours a day in the studio, Melhor do Que Parece is a diverse, exploratory and kaleidoscopic listen. There are influences from classic Brazilian greats such as Os Mutantes and the beautiful string arrangements of Rogério Duprat, as well as classic ‘60s and ‘70s European and American groups from across the spectrum. Those influences are tied up in an experimental indie DIY aesthetic where distorted guitars are juxtaposed with lush string sections.

The album kicks off on a high note with the catchy single ‘Culpa’; there is an almost John Lennon texture to Tim’s vocals here. Next is the dreamy arrangement of ‘Nó’, which has a Tropicália-esque tone and features a beautiful harp intro played by Marina Mello.

A swirling psych-rock tinge runs through the record sucking you into its grasp. The crashing cymbals, blazing lead guitars and modulated vocals of ‘Não Espero Mais’ and ‘Lua Cheia’ are two fine examples. Elsewhere, there’s the deep fuzz, whirling organs and peaking horns of ‘O Orgulho E O Perdão’.

Contrasting this there are moments of reflection. The depth and delicacy of ‘Depois Que A Dor Passar’ and the ethereal heart swell of ‘Volta’ are a double dose of uplifting nourishment. Another highlight is ‘Vamos Assumir’, a song immortalised in pop culture when mentioned in Brazilian author Elayne Baeta's book Coisas óbvias sobre o amor.

The title track ‘Melhor do Que Parece’ is a grand opus, ranging from smooth angelic melodies with lush strings, to explosions of distorted guitar and horns. It’s an epic and fitting closer to this magnificent album.

There are no wasted moments on Melhor do Que Parece; it feels almost like a best-of album and is rightly viewed as a definitive work. Here at Mr Bongo we feel its greatness deserves a much wider global audience to lean in and enjoy its brilliance.

Mr Bongo reissues, in full for the first time, a pioneering Trinidadian steelband album from 1979. Masterminded by the key and highly influential calypso / soca steelpan player, Len "Boogsie" Sharpe, Phase2 showcases Boogsie’s innovative fusion of jazz, funk and Caribbean rhythms in stunning style.

Dubbed ‘the Mozart of Pan’ by Wynton Marsalis, Boogsie began playing pan at the age of five and composed his own music by the age of nine years old. Across a long and illustrious career, he has won seven National Panorama Championships in Trinidad and Tobago with his compositions and band, a world Steelband Music Festival with his original compositions “In the Rainforest”, and two Notting Hill Panorama Championships with Mangrove Steel Orchestra. Over the years he has also played with Andre Tanker, Lord Shorty, Lord Kitchener, Leston Paul, Clive Zanda, and other amazing Caribbean greats. Len became an arranger for the National Steelband of Trinidad and Tobago and is a cultural ambassador for the country promoting the instrument.

Phase2 is built up predominantly of original compositions by Boogsie, alongside a track penned by fellow Trinidadian musician Raf Robertson and an outstanding Trinidadian-disco cover version of Roy Ayers' classic ‘Can't You See Me’. Phase II is the name of the band Boogsie started with six of his friends who sought to compose their own music.

Drenched in feel-good island-life energy, the eight tracks showcase Boogsie’s creative approach to the pan and its ability to elevate the flavour of a host of genres not usually associated with the instrument.

‘Can't You See Me’ is an underground disco banger that has become highly sought-after. It’s no surprise why, with pan injecting Caribbean heat to Ayers’ original. When rare groove DJs picked up on it and began playing it in their sets, it introduced Boogsie’s talents to a wider audience.

Far from a one-track wonder, there is plenty more to dig into on the album. The cosmic jazz-funk of ‘Boogie Kaiso’ is pure brilliance. Starting off with a soul-nourishing piano introduction, it drops into a super deep, addictive, pan-infused disco groove which has Cloud One-esque vibes to it. The composition sounds fresh and is the perfect secret weapon for the dancefloor.

Elsewhere, ‘Weight’ is another highlight. A sweet, catchy jazz-funk dancer with some sublime playing throughout. ‘Yoga Styling’ and ‘Punk Party’ kick off with brilliant breaks, before opening out into grooves rich in leftfield disco swagger, hypnotic musicianship and blistering pan solos by Boogsie. Then there’s ‘Celebration’, reminiscent of a mix between a Stevie Wonder song and a calypso classic, with amazing, relaxed, but on-point funk drumming by Richard Bailey. Providing a moment to pause for breath, ‘Passing Time’ is meditative and deep with just Boogsie on the pan, a moment of relaxed and regenerative calm on the record.

Whether you’re already familiar with the iconic sound of Len "Boogsie" Sharpe or are discovering his magic for the first time, we hope you get inspired by this masterpiece from one of the best in their craft.

"El Camino De Mi Alma" by Hermanos Gutiérrez is released as an LP on Discos G and brings together eight instrumental pieces carried by melancholic melodies and airy guitar figures. The title track exemplifies the expansive tempos and the closeness to film music, while tracks like "Guayaquil" and "Abrazos De Una Rosa" work with striking motifs that unfold gradually and leave room for subtle rhythmic accents.

The duo Alejandro and Estevan Gutiérrez is characterized by tight musical interplay: interwoven guitar lines, lap steel elements, and occasional percussive colors shape the sonic space. The music moves between Latin American traditions and an instrumental Western aesthetic; influences from classic regional song forms as well as from film composers are audible, without any need for vocal traces. This interplay defines the style of Hermanos Gutiérrez and creates a distinctive sonic signature.

Originally self-released, the album is once again available as an LP through Discos G; the band refers to the work as their second full-length and points to a subsequent repress edition. The tracks collected on the LP document the group’s early turn toward instrumentally driven narrative pieces that anticipate their later work in a transformed form.

The compilation “Tropicália Ou Panis Et Circencis” on Universal Music Latino presents the influential collective project of the Tropicália movement and brings together key contributions from this era of Brazilian music. Universal Music Latino is releasing the LP as a documentary edition that unites well-known voices with bold, adventurous arranging.

The album includes recordings by Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Os Mutantes, Tom Zé, and Nara Leão; the orchestral arrangements are by Rogério Duprat, complemented by poetic contributions from Torquato Neto and Capinam. The title composition “Panis et Circencis” is among the standout tracks, as is “Baby”; both exemplify the balance between the avant-garde and popular melody. Musical contrasts between band lineups and lush orchestral colors shape the tracks and give the collection its distinctive profile.

As a representative Latin/Brazil release, the “Tropicália Ou Panis Et Circencis” LP on Universal Music Latino documents a stylistic break in which traditional rhythms, rock elements, and experimental soundscapes intersect. The release thus offers both a historical overview and a focused listening experience of the Tropicália era.

The “Uma Celebração A Os Tincoãs” LP by Pra Gira Girar is released on Amor In Sound and opens the record with a new take on “Atabaque Chora.” The piece, written by Dadinho and Mateus Aleluia, already opened the iconic 1977 album by Os Tincoãs and here serves as a deliberate opening statement for the group’s recording project.

Pra Gira Girar is a Rio-based project founded by Alvaro Lancellotti, Michele Leal, and Alan de Deus; the lineup includes Pedro Costa on guitar, Kassin on bass, Zé Manoel on piano and vocals, Diogo Gomes on trumpet, and percussionists Zero Telles in memoriam and Anna Magalhães. Michele Leal brings a background in choral singing, which newly accentuates the polyphonic passages.

Pedro Costa transcribed the original vocal arrangements and, together with Michele Leal, adapted them for a lineup that, in contrast to the original, incorporates a female voice. The intensive year-long rehearsals placed particular emphasis on the complex harmonies and the rhythmic depth of the Bahian original. The “Uma Celebração A Os Tincoãs” LP thus represents a carefully crafted homage to the triad of vocals, percussion, and horns, and marks the beginning of Pra Gira Girar’s own recording work.

Killabeatmaker’s “Melaza” 12" is released on Galletas Calientes and blends Afro-house, warm house grooves, electronic jazz, hip-hop and Colombian folklore into a rhythmically diverse project. The producer from Medellín sees the dance floor as a meeting place where organic instruments, hypnotic percussion and electronic production intertwine.

Killabeatmaker remains firmly rooted in his Colombian identity while opening his music to voices and influences from Africa and Latin America. “Damuwa Ta Karé,” featuring Ghanaian singer Zongo Abongo, brings together South American production and West African vocal tradition. Warm percussion, rolling grooves, gentle guitar lines and atmospheric electronic textures give the track a tension that is both reflective and danceable.

The release’s other tracks also demonstrate its stylistic versatility. “Oko Du,” “Vive Con Locura” and “I Like Your Style,” featuring Bleepolar, draw on deep Afro-house, while “Marímbula Bristol” combines electronic jazz tones with musicians from Bristol. “Kundé Mandibulo,” featuring Medellín singer Queen Medina, brings a rougher Afro-hip-hop energy. Hilder Brando Osorno handled programming, synthesizers, mixing and mastering; other contributors include Julián Ramirez, Hal Sutherland, Dave Saunders and Toby Tobón.

The compilation “Greasy Mike Goes Latin” is released on Jazzman and brings together 16 tracks from the worlds of mambo, rumba, cha-cha-cha, and cumbia. The selection combines Cuban rhythms with Brazilian accents, Colombian cumbia, and Caribbean sounds. Congas, distinctive horns, and driving percussion define the character of this collection.

“Greasy Mike Goes Latin” does not focus on gentle lounge music, but on a direct, powerful groove. Jazz and rhythm and blues broaden the musical spectrum, while the arrangements shift between exuberant dance music, exotic instrumental music, and raw Latin sounds. Noro Morales opens the album with “Rhumba Rhapsody,” Bobby Madera brings classic mambo flair with “Mambo Inn,” and Fitz Vaughan Bryan delivers an idiosyncratic Latin take on the well-known jazz composition “Take Five.”

Further highlights come from Bobby Montez, Don Tosti, Celina Y Reutilio, The Treniers, and The Charms. Tracks such as “Space Man Cha Cha,” “Cha Cha Rock,” and “Baby Please Don't Go” also showcase the stylistic range between danceable rhythms, rich horn arrangements, and unusual crossover moments. With the LP “Greasy Mike Goes Latin,” Jazzman presents a varied compilation with a pronounced Latin soul focus.

The “Marimbazos De Oro” LP by Son Rompe Pera is being released on Mixto and marks the band’s third album as well as their debut on the label. The record was produced by Adrian Quesada, a Grammy‑nominated guitarist and psychedelic bolerista who greatly expands the sonic space and pushes the Gama brothers’ marimba‑centered playing into new directions.

Musically, “Marimbazos De Oro” unfurls a spectrum that connects traditional marimba arrangements with punk, surf, and dance rhythms. Opener “Arboledas” draws on northern Mexican motifs and features Zac Sokolow (LA LOM) as a guest, while “Sombra” explodes in a pop‑punk/Oi! framework with Spike (Me First and the Gimme Gimmes) contributing background vocals. With “José Dolores,” the band ventures into a pronounced salsa direction, powered by the horn section of Colombian outfit La Pambelé.

On the bolero “Me Olvidaste,” Trish Toledo adds to the vocal palette, and on the single “Reptilio,” Quesada himself can be heard on guitar. Overall, the album, according to the band, tells the full story of their musical influences: at times raw and direct, at others smooth and danceable, always with the marimba as the leading voice and a surprising knack for arrangements. The “Marimbazos De Oro” LP thus documents a new chapter in the evolution of Son Rompe Pera.

Sekouba Bambino’s ‘Sebema’ first time on vinyl (previously CD / cassette only) with edit treatment from frequent collaborators Pete Blaker & Dionisos on the A-side and the original on the flip.

Originally released in 2004 by the Guinean multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, this cut was taken from his Ambiance Ballon album. Real name Sékouba Diabaté, he was previously a member of Bembeya Jazz National, who are regarded as one of the most significant jazz groups to emerge from Guinea as well as joining Africando All Stars in the late 90’s. Bambino went on to pursue a solo career and released projects throughout the early 2000’s on Syllart Productions.

The edit by Pete Blaker and Dionisos overdubs sound effects, additional percussion and guitar licks to build tension throughout the track and emphasises that hypnotic chorus.

The collection focuses on the New York Latin sound of those years and presents on a single record striking examples of charanga, Latin jazz, and descarga practices as they emerged on the legendary Alegre label. The selection emphasizes representative moments of the era: early charanga arrangements, lively boogaloo elements, and instrumental jam sessions that shaped New York’s urban Latin idiom. Names like Johnny Pacheco and the Alegre All-Stars stand as exemplary of the musical practice highlighted by this compilation; the interconnections with Latin jazz and salsa are clearly audible and coherently documented. Craft handles the physical release as an LP, providing a compact introduction to a style-defining phase of Latin-influenced music from New York.

The “La Pava Congona / Soul Makossa” 7-inch by Andres Landero Y Su Conjunto and Afrosound, released on Panorama, unites two striking takes on Latin American dance music on a single record. With it, Panorama brings together a classic cumbia version and an Afro-Latin counterpart in a compact release.

On side A, “La Pava Congona” presents Andres Landero in top form; known as “El Rey de la Cumbia,” he makes the accordion sound raw, hypnotic, and instantly danceable. The recording thrives on its rolling rhythm, clear call-and-response phrases, and a striking accordion line that turns the track into a signature cumbia tune. On the flip side, Afrosound offers a powerful take on Manu Dibango’s classic “Soul Makossa,” where driving percussion and sharply defined horn accents generate an Afro-Latin energy that makes the flip a fitting complement to side A.

The single thus puts both Andres Landero and Afrosound in the spotlight: Landero confirms his stature with an unmistakable accordion performance, while Afrosound underlines its connection to Afro-Caribbean grooves and funky arrangements. For listeners who appreciate classic cumbia and Afro-Latin references, this Panorama 7-inch offers a focused, musically expressive encounter between the two traditions.

The “Joao Gilberto” LP by Joao Gilberto is released on Tamba and makes the artist’s self-titled recording, first released in 1973, available again in vinyl format. The release is presented as a 180-gram limited edition and focuses on the sparse, voice-and-violão-centered sonic aesthetic that defines the original. Tamba adds the record to its catalog as an LP reissue, with the artwork and accompanying materials emphasizing the album’s stripped-down character.

Musically, the “Joao Gilberto” LP documents the singer and guitarist’s formal and interpretive skill: João Gilberto delivers the melodies with delicate phrasing and minimal accompaniment, complemented by Sonny Carr on percussion; an additional vocal by Miúcha is credited on the track “Izaura.” The tracklist includes “Águas de Março,” a composition by Antônio Carlos Jobim that, in this version, seeks a balance between melancholic lyrics and restrained instrumentation. The selection ranges from original compositions to carefully chosen interpretations of Brazilian classics, making the LP an audible reflection of this particular moment in Gilberto’s work in 1973.

The “Madre Cumbia” LP by Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto and Fruko and Carmelo Torres was released on Bad Vibes Good Friends and represents a rare cross-generational collaboration. This project brings together the defining voices and instruments that have carried cumbia for decades: traditional gaitas and percussion meet figures who have kept the rhythm alive across time and continents. On the record, there is a compositional balance between tradition and creative rendition, without blurring the music’s roots.

At the center of “Madre Cumbia” are the sonic foundations of Colombian coastal music: gaitas and drums provide the primal base, the accordion from the Sabanas region brings melodic storytelling, and the electric bass points to the modern sonic aesthetic that redefined tropical music in the 20th century. The recordings are characterized by organic instrumentation and a focus on the musical signature of the performers involved, resulting in an album that makes both the historical depth of the gaita tradition and its contemporary expressions that connect to the present clearly audible. The result is a documentary-leaning yet vibrant testament to cumbia.

The "Never Too Soon" LP by Joyce Moreno is being released on Far Out and captures the singer, guitarist, and composer in a particularly reflective yet playful frame of mind. Across nine tracks, produced by Joyce Moreno and her long-time partner Tutty Moreno, the album combines precise guitar work with warm Fender Rhodes textures and a restrained vocal delivery that sharply defines every melody. It will be available on LP, CD, and digitally, with release scheduled for October 30, 2026.

Musically, "Never Too Soon" is built around an ensemble of established Brazilian musicians: Tutty Moreno on drums and percussion, Jorge Helder on bass, Lula Galvão on guitar, and Marcos Nimrichter on Fender Rhodes shape the soundscape, while contributions from Toninho Horta, Nailor Proveta, José Arimatéa, Teco Cardoso, Josué dos Santos, and Raphael Sampaio add colors and horn arrangements without ever overshadowing Joyce’s presence. Of particular note are the instrumental tribute "Chovendo na Horta" featuring Toninho Horta, and the new version of "Aldeia de Ogum," which presents a classic 1980 piece in a fresh form; in addition, "Beija-me" offers a rendition of a samba classic from 1943. The result feels like the work of an artist who, after more than five decades in music, remains curious and unpretentious as she continues to set new accents.

The “The Venezuelan Zinga Son Vol. 1” LP by Los Amigos Invisibles was released on Luaka Bop in May 2004. The album documents the Venezuelan band’s work to date in a longer, rhythmically dense set and features 15 tracks that move seamlessly between the dance floor and a laid-back beach atmosphere.

As an album, “The Venezuelan Zinga Son Vol. 1” presents a deliberate fusion of disco, house, and Latin American elements, created through close studio collaboration with house veterans Masters at Work, who give the songs a refined dance-floor focus. Standout tracks such as “Una Disco Llena,” the title track “Venezuelan Zinga Son,” and the cover version of Touchdown’s “Ease Your Mind” are highlighted on the record, showcasing both the band’s pop-oriented side and longer, jam-like arrangements. Luaka Bop presents the release with a distinct label identity that brings the Amigos’ tropical atmosphere and groove-centered approach to the forefront; the compilation thus represents a period in the band’s history when club aesthetics and Venezuelan rhythms were deliberately interwoven.

Cosmic Romance presents the debut album from Sua Galera, a vibrant 8-track journey shaped by friendship, late-night sessions, and a shared love for groove-driven music.

Formed in Dortmund, Germany, located in the middle of the multicultural region Ruhr, Sua Galera brings together nine musicians who first connected through the city’s jazz music scene. Led by keyboardist and producer Eskil Bauer, the collective channels a multinational identity, reflected both in its sound and its name: “Sua Galera,” Portuguese for “your crew.” With vocalists with Brazilian and Moroccan background at the forefront, the project naturally blends diverse cultural influences into a warm and cohesive musical language.

The album moves effortlessly between Brasil funk and Mediterranean-inspired grooves, all filtered through the timeless sound aesthetics of 1970s and 1980s studio productions. Recorded through countless nights spent both in the studio and immersed in live music culture, the record captures the spontaneity and chemistry of a band deeply connected through performance and collaboration.

Perfectly aligned with the Cosmic Romance universe, Sua Galera’s debut delivers an organic, soulful, and rhythm-forward sound designed for DJs and listeners seeking emotionally rich groove music.

Japanese crossover and fusion are hot again now. As either an outgrowth of, or a spin-off phenomenon from, the global reappraisal of city pop, Japanese fusion has been rapidly rising since around last year.

This was the second release on Aura, the band’s own label established under Polydor, and their 13th studio album overall. Because they had continued recording overseas for some time, they chose not to bring in guest musicians for this album, instead settling into their home base at Studio Jive and creating it solely with the band members. As a result, the album offers a fresh and lively sound that returns to the group’s roots. Alongside the live staple "super Sonic MOVEMENT," it is also packed with new attempts, including the Japanese-flavored "Old Times," the techno-driven big band-style jazz track "solid SWING," and the high-speed Latin funk number "red ZONE." This also became the final Casiopea album for the duo of Tetsuo Sakurai and Akira Jimbo.

The "Lagrimas Negras" LP by Bebo Valdés and Diego El Cigala has been released on Reissued Sounds. The album combines the warm, pianistic precision of Cuban master Bebo Valdés with the smoky, flamenco-inflected voice of Diego El Cigala and credits Fernando Trueba and Javier Limón as producers. With this release, Reissued Sounds reissues a central chapter of the contemporary Latin take on this repertoire while preserving the intimate sonic aesthetic that defines the work.

Musically, "Lagrimas Negras" relies on stripped-down, sharply accented arrangements: Valdés’s piano is at the center, supported by Javier Colina on double bass and Israel “Piraña” Porrina on cajón; the title track “Lágrimas Negras” serves as the album’s emotional centerpiece. Striking guest appearances—including a passage by Caetano Veloso—lend additional nuances to individual tracks. The fusion of Cuban rhythms and flamenco-tinged vocals brought the album international attention and earned it a Latin Grammy. This Reissued Sounds LP is aimed at listeners who appreciate the clear, acoustic presentation and the meeting of two musical traditions; it documents an interplay that remains both sensitive and expressive.

The “Mandrill Is” LP by Mandrill is being released on Vampisoul and is presented here as a reissue pressed on 180 g vinyl. This release brings the Brooklyn outfit’s second album back into focus and highlights both the dense arrangements and the sonic care taken with the pressing.

Recorded in the winter of 1971/72 at Electric Lady Studios, “Mandrill Is” presents the Wilson brothers Carlos, Lou, and Ric as the driving forces of a seven-piece band that weaves funk, jazz, rock, Latin elements, and psychedelic touches into a sound all its own. The record combines a distinctive horn section with propulsive grooves and richly layered percussion; tracks like “Ape Is High” and “Git It All” deliver immediate funk jolts, while “Children of the Sun” opens up more expansive, atmospheric spaces. Characteristic are precisely arranged horn harmonies, rhythmic shifts drawing on Afro-diasporic traditions, and passages that reach into jazz-rock territory. Taken as a whole, this edition documents an early phase of the band in which self-assurance and a spirit of experimentation converge and Mandrill explores the stylistic breadth of their work.

La Ruka’s 7" “Movimiento Pélvico / Yenyeré” is being released by Discos Elgozo as a Black Vinyl Edition. The two tracks combine the rhythms and memories of Colombia’s Pacific coast with hip-hop, electronic music, and contemporary urban sounds. As the second 7" release in the series focused on the Colombian Pacific, it follows “Reencarnación del Pacífico.”

La Ruka emerged from the hip-hop scene in Aguablanca, a Cali neighborhood strongly shaped by Afro-Colombian communities. Many residents come from regions along the Pacific coast, where stories passed down through generations, ways of life, and musical memories from river landscapes, mangroves, and coastal communities encountered urban culture. This connection defines the character of the two recordings.

“Movimiento Pélvico” takes listeners into the mangroves, along the rivers, and into the inland regions of Colombia’s Pacific coast. The track connects bodily movement, sensuality, and communal joy with social protests and collective responses to violence in Colombia. “Yenyeré” emerged from dance and follows the way people dance along the Pacific coast. The song recalls displacement, enslavement, and the loss of land today, while countering these experiences with the communities’ coming together, dancing, making music, and carrying on. “Movimiento Pélvico” was produced by Manglar Records, while Mauricio Alvarez produced “Yenyeré”; Estudios El Manglar handled the mixing and mastering.

The colored vinyl edition of “La Curada” 7" by Reencarnación del Pacífico is released on Discos Elgozo and launches a new singles series from the Vienna-based label dedicated to the musical traditions of Colombia’s Pacific coast. For the group from Guapi, Cauca, it is also their first vinyl release.

At the center is a call-and-response song about the knowledge of Afro-Colombian communities and the so-called curada, a traditional preparation made from plants, animal ingredients, and viche. The lyrics describe its versatile uses for healing, protection, good luck, and physical vitality. Reencarnación del Pacífico combines marimba, bombo, cununo, and guasá with collectively performed vocals. The composition was written by Jorge Eliecer Viveros Garcés, while Jésica Anchico and Stiven Obregón perform the lead vocals.

“La Curada” is complemented by a remix from Romperayo. The Colombian group expands the source material with electronic experimentation, sampling, and psychedelic textures without abandoning the original’s rhythmic foundation. In this way, traditional forms from Guapi meet a contemporary production that sheds new light on the communal character of the track. With this release, Discos Elgozo brings Reencarnación del Pacífico’s music to vinyl for the first time, connecting local cultural memory with contemporary Colombian sonic practice.

The “No Ritmo Da Terra” LP by Antropoceno is being released on Flowing Downward in collaboration with Longinus Recordings. Antropoceno, the project of Lua Viana, continues the “Ancestral Future” concept with this work and weaves Ailton Krenak’s philosophy directly into the sound design. The album combines field recordings from the Amazon with traditional Brazilian vocal elements and electronic interventions; post-rock textures, glitch elements, and avant-garde metal approaches create an unusual tension between ritual and experiment.

Musically, “No Ritmo Da Terra” documents this juxtaposition through multilingual lyrics in Portuguese, Tupi, and Yoruba as well as the inclusion of Candomblé and capoeira chants. Standout tracks include “Pe Rembi’urama,” which links chants with percussive patterns, and the more than eleven-minute “Xe Anama (Coração no Ritmo da Terra),” which functions as the album’s central epic. Guest contributions by Gabi d’Oyá and Pai Viny enrich individual tracks with additional vocal colors. The physical edition includes a limited “Jaguar Maul” galaxy vinyl variant and a digipak CD with a multilingual lyric insert; the artwork is by Poty Galaco, with photography and accompanying images by Gabriel Cavalcanti. On Flowing Downward, Antropoceno presents with “No Ritmo Da Terra” a precise, concept-driven further development of its sonic language.

The “Mambo Loco” 7" by Anibal Velazquez Y Su Conjunto is released on Vampisoul and presents an early, unvarnished version of the track, characterized by raw energy and driving percussion. Aníbal Velásquez, who began his career as a Colombian accordionist and composer in the early 1960s, performs a version of “Mambo Loco” here that feels more direct and hypnotic than later Discos Fuentes recordings, using the accordion as a playful yet dominant lead voice over a dense rhythmic foundation.

Musically, the single demonstrates the connection between Caribbean guaracha traditions and a strongly percussive approach. Velásquez’s accordion weaves together short, striking melodic fragments, while the rhythm section maintains the intensity and gives the track an infectious dance impulse. The other side of the 7" complements this panorama with a recording by Los Continentales, reflecting the region’s African-influenced sonic landscape and making audible the cross-border exchanges between Colombian and Peruvian Afro sounds. The Vampisoul release thus offers a compact, historically charged snapshot of Velásquez’s early work, making a distinctive contribution—both thematically and sonically—to the Latin/Brazil scene.

The "Carlos, Erasmo" LP by Erasmo Carlos, released on Vampisoul, condenses a central chapter of Brazilian pop innovation from the early 1970s. This release features production by Manoel Barenbein and arrangements by Rogério Duprat; the recordings include contributions from renowned musicians, among them members of Os Mutantes and guitarist Lanny Gordin, giving the album its unmistakable density and experimental character. Vampisoul is issuing this edition of the work as part of its well-known collector’s series, bringing a key work of the era back into focus.

Musically, "Carlos, Erasmo" explores the intersections between Tropicália, psychedelic rock, soul, and funk, moving with surprising ease between sensual pop and rougher sounds. The record opens with "De Noite na Cama," a song Caetano Veloso wrote for Erasmo; alongside it are contributions from Erasmo’s partnership with Roberto Carlos, as well as compositions by Jorge Ben and Marcos Valle. Tracks such as "Maria Joana," "Masculino, Feminino," and "26 Anos de Vida Normal" illustrate the breadth of the arrangements and the playful yet raw, soulful attitude that makes "Carlos, Erasmo" a milestone of Brazilian music.

The 12" released on Selva Discos under the title "Baiana: Brasingles Volume 2 2026 Repress" presents the road-tested live version of the Brazilian concert classic on vinyl for the first time and comes as a reissue in a full-color sleeve.

Behind the track is the group Barbatuques, a well-known Brazilian ensemble of body percussionists, who already adapted "Baianá" in 2005 for the album "O Seguinte É Esse." The song was originally composed by Maria do Carmo Barbosa; in the Barbatuques version, jaw harp elements and a stomping rhythm shape the distinctive motif, which has since become a fixed part of their concerts. This striking approach to arrangement defines the group’s style: vocal and body percussion as the melodic and rhythmic leitmotif.

The B-side delivers a purpose-built club version: Jan Schulte, here under the alias Wolf Müller (also known as Bufiman), added extra drums from a library of so-called "drumdrops," creating a DJ-friendly rework. The release is part of the Brasingles series on Selva Discos, which pairs the original recording on the A-side with a reworked version on the B-side, aiming to appeal equally to DJs and listeners.

The “Choca Las Caderas” 7-inch by Otto De Rojas Y Los Ultras 76 was released on Vampisoul and brings together two dancefloor-ready tracks from the mid-1970s. The A-side features the title track, “Choca Las Caderas,” while the B-side offers the instrumentally focused “El Tema de Coco.” The release is aimed at lovers of Latin- and Brazil-oriented grooves, condensing the characteristic arrangements of the period onto a compact 45.

Musically, “Choca Las Caderas” relies on striking horn arrangements, a tightly interlocked rhythm section, and an unmistakable groove that makes both tracks ideal party and DJ material. “El Tema de Coco” showcases Otto de Rojas’ strength as a keyboardist: tastefully used electric piano and Moog synthesizer take center stage, making the instrumental a fitting complement to the A-side. Known on the scene as a bandleader, producer, and pianist, Otto de Rojas brings together classic elements of Latin, funk, and jazz on this 7-inch without losing sight of its danceable energy.

Released on Vampisoul, the single presents a concise piece of Peruvian 1970s musical history that will enrich both DJ sets and collections with an international Latin and Brazil focus.

The “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly” LP by Willie Colón and Héctor Lavoe is being released on Craft Recordings as a 180-gram vinyl reissue and will be available on October 23, 2026. The edition has been remastered; the AAA lacquers were cut by Clint Holley at Well Made Music from the original master tapes, giving the reissue a technically updated presentation that highlights the character of the recordings.

Musically, “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly” documents the final joint album by Colón and Lavoe before Lavoe’s solo debut; the production combines Willie Colón’s compositions with Yomo Toro’s cuatro playing and introduces Rubén Blades for the first time as a songwriter and vocalist. Standout tracks include Colón-penned pieces “Güaracha” and “Qué Bien Te Ves,” as well as the Samba/Guaguancó “El Cazanguero” written by Rubén Blades, which receives particular emphasis in this edition. Craft and the contributors involved present the reissue as a carefully reworked document of a formative period in the history of salsa.

Psychic Reader announces Bad Shock: the first-ever reissue of 1970s Indonesian hard-rock trio SAS Group. Bad Shock is a compilation album featuring songs from SAS Group’s highly collectible first LP—a copy of which fetched $4,000 on Discogs back in June—as well as the band’s later hits. The first press was a limited 200-vinyl run that sold out two months after its February release. Composed of Arthur Kaunang (bass, keyboard, vocals), Soenatha Tanjung (guitar, vocals), and Syech Abidin (drums, vocals), SAS Group formed in Surabaya, Indonesia in 1975. SAS was the spiritual continuation of legendary rock band AKA, which featured the same personnel in addition to frontman Ucok Harahap. Harahap left AKA in the mid ‘70s to start his solo career, and SAS was formed. By 1991 SAS had produced 15 full-length albums and two compilation albums. Bad Shock focuses on their 1976-1981 output, delivering sprawling, prog-influenced hard rock laced with dueling synth and guitar solos. Almost every track is sung in English and holds its own against the best Western rock of the era. But “Jika Nanti Kau Panggil Namaku,” a mellow love ballad sprinkled with disco accents, closes the album on an unexpectedly sweet note.

The "Ogum Xango" LP by Jorge Ben & Gilberto Gil was released on Transoceanica and documents the intimate encounter of two formative figures of Brazilian music. Over a sparsely instrumented foundation, the two guitars and voices intertwine into long, flowing improvisations that deliberately fuse traditional rhythms with contemporary experimental verve.

The album is characterized by economical arrangements: alongside the violões of Jorge Ben and Gilberto Gil, percussion and occasional bass step to the fore, creating an open, almost ritual space. The involvement of Djalma Corrêa on percussion and Wagner Dias on bass gives the pieces layers of depth and rhythmic clarity without overloading their acoustic immediacy.

Thematically, the title alludes to the orixás Ogum and Xangô, anchoring the music in an Afro-Brazilian cosmos that manifests not only in textual references but above all in the repetitive, physically affecting patterns of the instrumentation. Several tracks stretch out over long running times, allowing the two performers to unfold wide arcs of improvisation.

As a work, "Ogum Xango" positions itself between passionate folk-blues and meditative percussion music; the record focuses on dialogue, spontaneous ideas, and the characteristic melodicism of both artists, who here come together in a stripped-down, intense form.

Released in 1976, Urubu represented a bold shift for Antônio Carlos Jobim, moving far from his bossa nova roots into more experimental territory. Produced and arranged by Claus Ogerman, the album explores complex structures, dissonant strings, earthy percussion, and atmospheric wind sounds. The opening track, Bôto, features Jobim singing in Portuguese alongside Miúcha, introducing the album’s more adventurous character. The second half moves further into orchestral and classically influenced territory, with Ogerman’s imaginative arrangements creating a darker and more introspective atmosphere. Far removed from the world of The Girl from Ipanema, Urubu reveals a deeper and more experimental side of Jobim. This special gatefold edition includes the complete lyrics and restores the original artwork. An important chapter in Jobim’s discography, Urubu showcases his willingness to explore beyond the traditional boundaries of bossa nova and Brazilian popular music.

The “Nova Bossa: Aquele Abraço Aos Ratos Vivos” LP by Pedro Mizutani was released on Nice Guys and came out digitally on May 22, 2026. The album comprises eleven tracks and moves between MPB, indie pop, and alternative rock, with arrangements that shift between laconic melancholy and vibrant energy. The lyrics combine urban poetics, raw self-examination, and occasional social critique, giving the work the feel of a personal inventory of a young adult generation.

Produced by Paulo Emmery and Guilherme Lírio, “Nova Bossa: Aquele Abraço Aos Ratos Vivos” relies on sparse instrumentation and subtle attention to detail, which reveals its vulnerable directness in “Puer Aeternus (19)” and becomes especially evident in “Colchão.” On the album, Pedro Mizutani explores crosscurrents and transitions that link traditional Brazilian sounds with a contemporary indie approach, without resorting to formulaic nostalgia. The release is also available as a pre-order 12" vinyl edition with an accompanying poster; the sequencing and the clearly defined voices make the “Nova Bossa” LP a focused statement from a young songwriter, poised between a hunger for discovery and the search for identity.

The Aor LP by Ed Motta is being released on P‑Vine, bringing the album, first issued in 2013, back to vinyl. The production bears the artist’s assured signature: compositionally precise, clearly oriented toward the adult-oriented rock aesthetic and with a noticeable nod to polished West Coast arrangements, combined with Brazilian melodic sensibility.

Musically, Aor strikes a fine balance between smooth grooves, elegant keyboard textures, and warm guitar lines; the instrumentation is conceived so that vocals and details have room to breathe. Ed Motta is not only at the center as a vocalist, he also oversees composition and arrangement, giving the album a coherent, carefully thought-out structure. The English- and Portuguese-language versions underscore his stylistic range.

Guest contributions from guitarist David T. Walker and Bluey (Incognito) provide standout moments, their performances adding extra depth and radiance to the overall sound. This vinyl edition brings these richly textured passages to the fore and offers an appealing way to rediscover the nuanced, seemingly timeless soundscape of Aor. With this LP, P‑Vine is releasing a benchmark of modern Brazilian AOR aesthetics.

A joint release between Discos Nada & Litoral. Alcides Neves’ unique second LP ‚Des (Trambelhar) Ou Não’ is reissued for the first time on vinyl, alongside his first release ‚Tempo de Fratura‘.

Somewhat of a concept album, this LP was conceived as having a predominantly experimental A-side and a more folky B-side, with songs influenced by Alcides’ native Northeastern Brazil. Alcides chose to release his second record independently as well, owing to the risk-averse nature of the labels at the time. Indeed, rather than adapting to the demands of the labels and making more romantic or commercial music, Alcides went in the opposite direction and released the most experimental record of his career.

The result is an album with distinct identities on each side but with an experimental bent throughout. The LP’s sounds are reflected by its striking cover, which collates some of Alcides’ artistic heroes - Frank Zappa, Gilberto Gil, Jimi Hendrix, Arnold Schönberg, Igor Stravinsky (to whom he also dedicated a song on the LP) among others, above an artwork in the style of Northeastern Brazilian folk art.

By blending traditional regional Northeastern elements with an experimental approach and influences from 20th century classical music, Alcides Neves crafted one of the most unique Brazilian records.

Carefully remastered by Paulo Torres with updated original artwork, the record is reissued in a gatefold sleeve including a promotional image from the time of release. This LP furthermore includes an insert with a text written by the journalist and researcher Bento Araujo, editor of the bimonthly publication ‚Poeira Zine‘ and author of the ‚Lindo Sonho Delirante‘ series of books.

Aterciopelados’ “La Pipa de la Paz” LP is released by Sony as an anniversary edition in a remastered version; the reissue was prepared to mark the album’s 30th anniversary and is pressed on 140-gram vinyl. This edition highlights the sonic refinement of the original without altering its arrangement structures, bringing the 1996 repertoire back in a polished reissue that appeals to both longtime fans and new listeners.

The album documents Aterciopelados’ stylistic range: on “La Pipa de la Paz,” rock-oriented song structures merge with Latin American rhythms and regional influences, defining tracks such as “La culpable” and the title track, “La pipa de la paz.” The original production was recorded in London under the direction of Phil Manzanera, and the remastered edition highlights this work anew, with greater clarity and presence in the instruments and vocals. This LP therefore offers a precise impression of the production as well as the album’s lyrical and musical density.

The “Criterion Of The Senses” LP by Ed Motta is being released on P‑Vine and brings the Brazilian musician’s 2018 album to vinyl for the first time. Widely praised upon its release, the work is being issued by P‑Vine as a vinyl reissue and stands out not only for its striking cover design; among AOR aficionados the artwork is regularly mentioned alongside Steely Dan’s “Katy Lied.” On the album, sleek, urban arrangements take center stage, as heard in pointed songs like “Your Satisfaction Is Mine” and “Sweetest Berry,” which spotlight Motta’s vocals and his keen sense of melody.

Musically, “Criterion Of The Senses” combines classic AOR aesthetics with Brazilian nuances: Rhodes and Clavinet colorings, precise drum work, and carefully crafted studio arrangements contribute to a cohesive sound. Ed Motta collaborates here with first‑rate musicians; credited players such as keyboardist Michel Limma and drummer Sergio Melo shape the production’s rich textures. The P‑Vine edition makes this facet of Motta’s work available on vinyl for the first time and puts the album back in the spotlight as a memorable chapter in his discography.

Recorded in the United States under the direction of producer Kamau Kenyatta, "Perpetual Gateways" features an ensemble of renowned guest musicians: Patrice Rushen and Greg Phillinganes contribute on keyboards, while Hubert Laws enriches the project with his flute. Together with Motta, these musicians shape a sound that blends jazz, soul, and AOR-leaning elements; dynamic horn parts, Rhodes textures, and precise rhythmic contributions run consistently throughout the album.

The "Graffiti" LP by Carlos Franzetti is released on Jazz Room and brings an early chapter of the Argentine composer and arranger back into the spotlight: originally recorded in 1977, the work has been reissued for this release and preserves its jazzy Latin American core.

Musically, the album moves between jazzy funk, Latin soul, and fusion-tinged tonal colors; concise grooves and warm phrasing meet striking melodies, as heard on tracks like "Beatriz," "Cocoa Funk," and the title track "Graffiti." The arrangements balance swinging horn sections and organic percussion patterns, giving the record both dancefloor drive and chamber-like subtleties.

Franzetti himself plays all the keyboard parts, wrote the compositions, and is responsible for all the arrangements; the lineup is rounded out by outstanding colleagues such as percussionist Ray Mantilla, bassist Victor Venegas, and flutist/soprano saxophonist Dick Meza, who lend the sound clearly defined rhythmic and tonal contours.

Historically, after its initial release on the U.S. label Guinness Records, the album found a second home in European jazz-dance circles, where "Cocoa Funk" in particular drew attention and resurfaced in reissue programs. The new edition on Jazz Room places these tracks back in a contemporary context on vinyl and makes the full range of Franzetti’s compositional prowess immediately audible.

The “Att.” LP by Young Miko is released on The Wave Music Group and marks the formal beginning of her full-length debut as an artist. On “Att.”, Young Miko presents a concise sequence of songs issued as an LP that incorporates production work from names such as Caleb Calloway, Mauro, and Alizzz. The release thus documents a collaboration between producer teams and guests without resorting to broad stylistic generalizations.

Musically, Young Miko weaves elements from hard-edged hip-hop and reggaetón inflections with contemporary pop textures; clear examples include the collaboration “offline” with Feid and the energetic “ID” with Jowell & Randy. Added to this are pointed moments like “wiggy” and the guest appearance by Villano Antillano, which accent the album with brief, striking contributions. The songwriting and arrangements reveal a focused curation of features and producers that carry the album’s through line. The “Att.” LP on The Wave Music Group thus represents a coordinated release in which Young Miko, as the central performer, explores her voice across various collaborations and production settings.

The “Construção” LP by Chico Buarque is released on National Own and brings one of the Brazilian songwriter’s most defining works back to vinyl in concentrated form. On this edition, Buarque’s finely nuanced songwriting meets carefully crafted arrangements; the production leaves room for the voice and its lyrical subtleties, so that imagery and melody carry equal weight. With the “Construção” LP, National Own presents a striking chapter from Buarque’s body of work that preserves both compositional density and a clear narrative line.

Musically, the release gathers pieces that reflect Chico Buarque’s poetic signature and his collaborative work with peers such as Vinícius de Moraes and Tom Jobim. Deserving special attention are the title track “Construção,” with its multi-layered narrative perspective, and “Deus lhe Pague,” both of which exemplify the connection between melody and politically charged lyrics. The arrangements add subtle instrumental colors without overshadowing the intimacy of the voice; string and horn passages contrast with sparsely placed accompaniments. In this way, the “Construção” LP on National Own offers a focused listening experience that powerfully brings together Chico Buarque’s literary skill and compositional sophistication.

The A-side picks up on Viva Brasil’s characteristic blend of Brazilian rhythms and jazzy harmonic textures and has achieved cult status worldwide through cover versions and DJs.

The B-side features “Turn To Yourself” in its first 7-inch release; the track showcases the band’s calmer, more AOR-leaning side, with warm melodies and sophisticated arrangements that reflect the melodic richness of the original album. Both cuts are taken from the 1980 debut album and document Viva Brasil’s range from dance-oriented fusion to sun-drenched jazz-AOR moments.

The pairing on this 7-inch makes the release a significant find for collectors and DJ sets looking for classic Brazilian groove, rare fusion gems, and Balearic-ready tunes. With this release, P-Vine focuses on playability and historical significance, presenting two timeless cuts in a compact, immediately usable format.

The “Todos Tenemos Hogar Colored Vinyl Edition” by Los Pirañas brings two striking pieces from the ensemble’s universe onto a 7-inch record and appears as a special repressing of the material. The disc features the tracks “Todos tenemos hogar” and “Lambada de Oceanía, África y América (eran un mismo continente),” which together offer a compact yet dense representation of the band’s aesthetic. Released by Discos Elgozo, the edition emphasizes both the historical and emotional weight of this curation.

Musically, the record combines traditional tropical rhythms with experimental interventions and a raw, improvisatory approach that is characteristic of Los Pirañas; elements such as cumbia, percussive patterns, and skewed guitar arrangements move into the foreground. Long described as a trio with pronounced playfulness, the band often works with live improvisation, weaving together rhythms and tonal colors from widely varied origins to create a distinctive, sometimes challenging, yet clearly defined expression.

As a physical object, the release emphasizes its crafted format: the 7-inch is pressed on high-quality 48-gram vinyl and comes in a hand-printed kraft paper sleeve; for the colored-vinyl edition, the final color has been announced, and the package also includes high-resolution digital downloads. This edition is aimed at listeners interested in the intersection of tradition and sonic exploration.

The “Asesinostalgia” LP by Soroche will be released on Electric Cowbell on October 9, 2026. A debut more than two years in the making, Soroche combines cumbia, punk, ska, and psychedelic textures into a distinct sonic identity: reverb-drenched guitars meet Farfisa, accordion, Colombian percussion, and theremin. Catchy, partly bilingual melodies and concise songwriting give the tracks real weight, while the arrangements shift between raw immediacy and dense atmosphere, always inviting you to move.

Across ten songs, “Asesinostalgia” addresses social and personal themes: “Espera” explores everyday existential anxieties, “Bala Perdida” portrays sacrifice and loss, and “El Desierto” focuses on migration and border experiences. The album title sums up the idea of a destructive nostalgia, of losing oneself in the past at the expense of the present. Guest appearances by La Marvela, Laura Luv, Miguel Torres, and Pedro Erazo audibly expand the palette; the recordings took place at Ivakota Studios, with Dennis Kane handling the mix, Brad Sarno the mastering, and the artwork by Mariano Arrien. With “Asesinostalgia,” Soroche delivers on Electric Cowbell a debut that links tradition and modernity while staking out its own place between rhythm and reverb.

The “Amar la Trama” LP by Jorge Drexler is released on Warner Music Spain and brings the recording methodology central to the album onto vinyl: vocals and ensemble were tracked together in the studio, partly in front of a selected live audience, which lends the arrangements an immediate, chamber‑music‑like density. The LP includes selected pieces from the album’s repertoire such as “Una canción me trajo hasta aquí,” “La trama y el desenlace,” and “Tres mil millones de latidos,” while preserving the fine balance between lyrical precision and instrumental restraint that characterizes Jorge Drexler as a songwriter.

In addition to Drexler’s own compositions, the release also features special collaborations: a duet with Leonor Watling is documented on the album, and the recording also includes a take on “I Don't Worry About a Thing” with Ben Sidran. The production largely forgoes electronic elements in favor of acoustic colors, horn sections, and subtle percussion, allowing the arrangements to retain their transparency and letting vocal details come through clearly. This LP edition on Warner Music Spain brings together Jorge Drexler’s characteristic narrative power and craftsmanship in a format that captures the live atmosphere of the sessions.

The Chacalon Y La Nueva Crema “S/T” LP, released by Vampisoul, documents the 1981 debut of one of the most distinctive voices in Peru’s chicha scene. The album marks the beginning of a career that made Chacalón a central figure in a local pop phenomenon, featuring tracks that quickly became staples of dancehall and radio programming.

Musically, the record combines distorted electric guitars drenched in fuzz and wah-wah with driving, tropical-leaning percussion patterns and pronounced elements of huayno. This combination gives the arrangements both raw immediacy and folkloric melancholy. Individual songs such as “Mi Dolor” and “Llanto de un Niño” rank among the album’s best-known tracks, demonstrating the band’s ability to pair catchy melodies with a rough-edged guitar aesthetic. The production emphasizes the rhythm section’s immediate energy and places the singer’s voice prominently in the mix, making the “S/T” LP a defining document of early chicha and cementing the sound that emerged in Lima.

The “Nos Vemos El Proximo Año” LP by Chupame El Dedo is released on Keroxen / Discrepant and continues the long-cultivated blend of cumbia, psychedelic touches, and ironic furor. Chupame El Dedo shift the range of their sonic template toward danceable eccentricity: driving percussion, distorted synthesizers, and a vocal-centered performance that moves between humor and provocation.

The project is helmed by the two musicians Eblis Álvarez Vargas and Pedro Ojeda Acosta; the songs are composed and arranged entirely by Chupame El Dedo. The material was recorded in 2025 in Tenerife under the direction of Jorge Lorenzo, and mixed and mastered by Eblis Álvarez. Visually and conceptually, Mateo Rivano contributed the artwork and accompanying design consulting. The production combines raw, live energy with targeted studio interventions, so that tracks like the title cut “Nos Vemos el Proximo Año” and the off-kilter “La Salsa esta de Moda (y Geoba lo Sabe)” showcase both raucous immediacy and finely honed sonic details.

With the release on Keroxen / Discrepant, the band continue their tradition of deconstructing conventional tropical imagery and transforming it into idiosyncratic, danceable arrangements. The “Nos Vemos El Proximo Año” LP thus offers a clear, coherent continuation of their avant-tropical approach.

The “Todo A Su Tiempo” LP by Marc Anthony is released on Machete Music and presents the singer with a concise salsa statement from the early phase of his career. First issued in the 1990s, the record benefits from the precise arrangements and production by Sergio George, which tightly interlock vocals, horns, and percussion and put Marc Anthony’s vocal expressiveness front and center.

Standout tracks on the release include “Te Conozco Bien,” “Se Me Sigue Olvidando,” and “Hasta Ayer,” which combine both danceable salsa forms and emotional, song-oriented passages. The selection of compositions, including contributions from songwriters such as Omar Alfanno, along with Sergio George’s arrangement work, contributes to a consistently dynamic flow that lets both the vocals and the orchestral work shine equally.

As an LP edition on Machete Music, “Todo A Su Tiempo” documents an important stage in Marc Anthony’s development: the fusion of traditional salsa elements with clear, studio-focused production that helped individual singles break into the Latin American charts and gave the album lasting relevance within his repertoire.

Produced by Sergio George, the record documents his collaboration with one of the formative arrangers and producers of New York salsa; rhythmic piano parts, sophisticated horn sections, and distinctive lead vocals form the foundation of the arrangements. The recording includes takes on well-known songs as well as select compositions, with Anthony showcasing his strengths in dynamic improvisations and emotive chorus passages.

Musically, “Otra Nota” ranges from driving dance tracks to densely melodic ballads; in particular, “Palabras del Alma,” the salsa version of Juan Gabriel’s “Hasta Que Te Conocí,” and “Si Tú No Te Fueras” stand out and serve as defining anchors of the album. The release established Marc Anthony on the Latin American charts and contributed to his early awards in the Tropical/Salsa field, solidifying his profile as a leading salsa voice of the 1990s. The “Otra Nota” LP remains an important step in his career and an early example of blending pop melodicism with salsa-oriented production.

Released on Selva Discos, the LP *Memória Das Águas Repress 2026* brings together the rare debut by Fernando Falcão and once again showcases his early, idiosyncratic sound world. Falcão recorded the material in France back in 1979; for a long time, the record remained a Brazil‑only curiosity until the label made it accessible again. The reissue now introduces the album to a wider audience and highlights the artistic context of exile and political flight.

Musically, the work combines traditional Brazilian elements with modern arrangements, postmodern classical music, ambient, jazz, tape experiments, and abstract sounds. Central to it are self-built string instruments such as the Balauê, a horizontal variant of the berimbau that gives the album its flowing, waterlike tone. Pieces like “Amanhecer Tabajara,” “Revoada,” and “Mercado” trace a spectrum from folkloric references to world music–inflected, almost archaic textures.

The driving “Curimão,” with its samba impulses, forceful horns, and dense web of percussion, along with the intricately arranged closing pieces “Solito” and “Danado Cantador,” are regarded as highlights. The reissue includes extensive liner notes, rare photographs, and explanatory texts that shed light on the origins of the sound sculptures and the album’s production history. Overall, the LP stands as a carefully produced document of an unusual body of work that has been unjustly overlooked.

The "Chico Buarque" LP by Chico Buarque is released on National Own, reissuing the self-titled work of the Brazilian composer and singer on vinyl. The release presents Chico Buarque’s songwriting in concentrated form and highlights key titles from the artist’s catalog, with tracks such as "Cálice," "Apesar de Você," and "Tanto Mar" cited as defining reference points of the record. As an LP edition, the presentation is aimed at lovers of Latin / Brazil and adheres to the original album sequence without additional notes about the edition.

Musically, the "Chico Buarque" LP showcases the breadth of Chico Buarque’s compositions: intimate ballads alternate with rhythm-driven pieces that draw on classic samba elements. Arrangements by Francis Hime and other leading instrumental contributions shape the tonal character of the recording; solo passages by guest musicians such as trumpeter Márcio Montarroyos and horn players complement the vocal lines. The production centers the voice and the acoustic accompaniment, so that Chico Buarque’s melodic phrasing and lyric work remain in focus. The “Negro Negro Matabara El Hombre Bueno” 7" by Isadora and Leonor González Mina was released on Vampisoul and brings together two rare Colombian recordings from the early 1970s on one concise single. On the A-side you get Isadora’s “Negro, Negro,” a mid-tempo, driving tune with pronounced Afro percussion, distinctive drum breaks, and a hypnotic organ backdrop, originally found on her solo debut from the 1970s; this version appears here for the first time on 7". The decision to place Isadora and Leonor González Mina side by side underscores Vampisoul’s focus on rediscovered dance and groove gems from Latin America.

The B-side offers Leonor González Mina’s “Matabara El Hombre Bueno,” a recording that serves up explosive horn arrangements and pulsing percussion, clearly showcasing the energy of the backing band Columna de Fuego; the collaboration ranks among the rarer documented moments in Leonor’s extensive body of work. The release presents both tracks in a stripped-down, DJ-friendly brevity and once again highlights Vampisoul as a label that makes carefully selected historic pieces from the Latin and Afro-colonial tradition newly accessible.

The Blue Swirl/colored vinyl edition of Alejandro Bravo’s LP “Natural” was released by Numero Group and brings the rare, almost forgotten solo album by the Mexican musician back in a striking pressing. This edition puts the focus on the record’s original sound, with Alejandro Bravo as vocalist and guitarist at the center.

The recordings come from a 1971 home session in Acapulco and form the core of the “Natural” LP: stripped-down arrangements with nylon-string guitar, sparse percussion, and vocal phrasing in Spanish. On this full-length album, Alejandro Bravo combines elements of bossa nova and samba with pop-leaning song structures, creating an intimate, South America–inflected sonic world that also recalls contemporary singer-songwriter forms.

The record includes both original compositions and cover versions; the tracklist features, among others, “(There’s) Always Something To Remind Me,” “Blue Eyes,” “La Llorona,” “Agua De Beber,” and “Samba De Mi Tierra.” Alejandro Bravo presents the songs with restrained instrumentation and a direct vocal delivery that preserves the atmosphere of the original recordings. Fans of Latin and Brazilian productions and explorers of historical private-press releases will find in the Numero Group edition of “Natural” a carefully presented version of this special album.

Central is currently hard at work on a new album, and a lead single from the upcoming release! This time, they deliver a powerful cover of WAR's classic "Why Can't We Be Friends?", packed with a message that truly needs to be shared right now, drenched in Central's signature, exquisite salsa sauce.

Since the release of Central's first album "Flor De Roble" in November 2024, the band has continued to release singles consistently and is currently hard at work completing their second album. Now, Central is set to release a lead single from the upcoming album. The track is the title song from WAR's 1975 album "Why Can't We Be Friends?". Nearly 50 years later, Central saw its message as something that needs to be shared widely in today's increasingly chaotic world, and covered it with an arrangement generously infused with Central's exquisite salsa sauce. From the familiar intro that follows the original, the song suddenly pulls listeners into a salsa world, followed by an astonishing second half, resulting in a truly passionate performance. The B-side features "Flor De Roble", the sophisticated instrumental title track from their first album. Their original composition captures the hot passion of salsa in an intentionally cool arrangement, creating a sophisticated urban atmosphere.

The “Ojos Del Sol” LP by Y La Bamba is being released on Tender Loving Empire as a limited 10-year anniversary reissue, aimed at both collectors and new listeners. The release comes on 180 g splatter-colored vinyl in a limited run of 1,000 copies and also includes an 18" x 24" poster designed by Luz Elena Mendoza. For this edition, the album has been newly remastered; the reissue also expands the original track list with the new song “Sin Tu Amor,” lending the new edition both a documentary and expanded character.

Musically, “Ojos Del Sol” brings together Y La Bamba’s strengths: Luz Elena Mendoza carries the songs with a distinctive voice and densely interwoven multi-part vocal passages that already stood out as a central element on the original album. The arrangements blend folkloric elements with subtle indie textures while maintaining a clear emotional throughline; the new edition underscores these nuances through remastering by Adam Gonsalves. The record was praised by the media at the time and counts among the defining releases in the band’s body of work, which is why the anniversary edition on Tender Loving Empire stands out as a meaningful highlight in the label’s catalog.
