The “Take Me With You” 7" by Lyn Christopher and Tyrone & Carr is released as a split single on Dynamite Cuts, bringing together two recordings of the same soul classic. Lyn Christopher’s A-side is based on the original American version from 1973, whose deep bassline and smooth groove form the core of the track. Her distinctive voice gives the song a sensual yet powerful presence. “Take Me With You” is one of the best-known recordings in Christopher’s catalog and was later sampled by hip-hop artists as well.

The B-side features the British version by Tyrone & Carr, which was released the same year on Jam Records, an imprint of DJM. The compilation “Soundcity Joburg - South Africa's Township Soul” is released by Analog Africa as a double LP in a gatefold sleeve. It focuses on Johannesburg’s township soul scene between 1969 and 1981, when South African musicians combined influences from American soul and funk with local rhythms, jazz, reggae, disco and Afrobeat.

The 22 tracks demonstrate how distinctive this musical language became in the townships. Beat Set opens and closes the compilation with “I Dig Soul,” while Dudu And The Big Time Boys bridge the gap between soul groove and danceable rhythms on “How Long?” and “Can You Feel It.” “Take It” by Philemon Hamole And Abafana Besimanje, “Crazy Baby” by Phillip Mallela With J.B. Express and “Swing Africa” by Reggie Msomi & His Jazz Africa are also among the defining moments of this selection.

Analog Africa connects the music with the history of its creation and supplements the double LP with a 16-page, magazine-style booklet. It features rare photographs, historical newspaper clippings, biographies and other archival materials. The editorial work was produced with the participation of Volkan Kaya, Samy Ben Redjeb and Sam Mathe; Michael Graves handled the mastering, while Jordan McLeod was responsible for the restoration. The Orange Marbled Vinyl edition of the “Manifest” LP by BALTHVS was released on Mixto. “Manifest” is the fifth studio album by the Colombian trio and was created predominantly in the studio after a retreat to a rural farm outside Bogotá. Across eleven tracks, the album combines five singles already tested live with six new pieces that significantly expand the band’s previously known range. A close look at the full scope of Masayoshi Takanaka’s legendary concert "rainbow Goblins Story"! This release captures the legendary two-day concert held at Nippon Budokan on March 10 and 11, 1981, the very day and the day after the release of Masayoshi Takanaka’s masterpiece "The Rainbow Goblins." The first part recreates on stage the concept album "The Rainbow Goblins," which Takanaka created based on the inspiration he drew from Italian painter Ul de Rico’s picture book "The Rainbow Goblins," while the second part is made up of Masayoshi Takanaka’s hit songs. Now, for the first time, that full performance sees the light of day as a single audio work.

A huge rainbow neon arch stretched across the stage, with its seven colors lighting up in various patterns in sync with the music. Combined with what was then a state-of-the-art laser show and a mountain-like stack of equipment onstage, it created a fantastical world. The seven musicians appeared wearing costumes in different goblin image colors, while Takanaka, dressed in a yellow jumpsuit with rainbow-colored hair, played a rainbow-colored Yamaha SG. The world of "The Rainbow Goblins" that Masayoshi Takanaka, already at the peak of his popularity as one of Japan’s leading guitarists, brought to life onstage returns now, on its 45th anniversary, with vivid sound. The analog edition consists of three LPs in clear lime yellow, clear red, and clear blue, evoking both the three primary colors of light and the colors of the rainbow Yamaha SG Takanaka played in the first part of the concert. It also comes with a booklet packed with photographs capturing this fantastical stage production created with the latest technology of the time. Mastering and analog cutting were handled by Alex Wharton at Abbey Road Studios London. Liner notes are by Masayoshi Kondo and Yoshinobu Maruyama.

Antiyano Progresivo unfolds against the backdrop of a rapidly transforming Caribbean. During the twentieth century, oil industries, migration and tourism reshaped the islands, creating unparalleled cultural exchange while deepening social divisions. African, Latin American, North American and European musical traditions intertwined with local forms, producing a rich and distinctive musical landscape. Tambú, tumba, calypso and Caribbean dance music coexisted alongside soul, funk, psychedelic rock, reggae, Latin music and American and British pop. Musicians moved fluidly between these styles, developing sounds that were unmistakably local while remaining connected to wider currents across the Caribbean and beyond. The period also coincided with growing movements for cultural and political self determination. Events such as Curaçao's Trinta di Mei uprising in 1969, the emergence of Black Power movements and increasing calls for greater autonomy fostered renewed pride in African heritage, local languages and cultural expression. These ideas resonated through music, inspiring artists to challenge conventions and create work that reflected changing identities.

The “Here I Am Baby” LP by Lady Jane is released on Athens Of The North and brings singer Jane Brice’s only studio LP back to light after decades. The reissue is based on sessions recorded in the late 1970s at Studio A in Dearborn Heights; tracked with engineer Eric Morgeson and a studio band, the material was largely written by her then husband and was originally issued in 1980 as a private press.

The re-release became possible after a chance discovery in 2022 sparked the idea for a reissue and Brice’s then husband, shortly before his death, returned the original master tapes to her; from these, the rediscovered multitracks and additional previously unreleased material emerged. Newly remastered from those tapes, “Here I Am Baby” documents a singer who moves between soul, funk, and disco, delivering both delicate ballads and driving funk numbers.

Alongside its quieter opening tracks, the record includes raw funk excursions such as “Never Lived In The Ghetto” and “Space Flight”; the closing track, “She’s A Star,” is the only song written by Jane herself and addresses her personal survival story in a direct way. Jane Brice, now an ordained pastor, had withdrawn from the scene for decades; this LP presents her voice in full presence and with surprising openness.

The “Last Night Changed It All” 7-inch by Jill Rock Jones is released on Fantastic 45s and offers a new take on the funk and soul classic “Last Night Changed It All (I Really Had a Ball),” made famous by Esther Williams. The A-side combines a driving, percussive groove with the expressive vocals of Atlanta-born singer Jill Rock Jones, whose delivery recalls Lyn Collins and Vicki Anderson. Joe Wheeler is credited as the songwriter.

The release marks the debut of Fantastic 45s, the funk and rare groove label founded by Daz-I-Kue. The London-raised producer first became known as a member of Bugz in the Attic. He is supported in running the label by studio partners Khari Cabral Simmons and Rafael Pereira, who have worked with India.Arie and Janelle Monáe, among others.

On the B-side, Vinnie D’Agostino interprets the track as a sax instrumental. His version replaces the vocals with a laid-back saxophone arrangement, offering an independent instrumental reading alongside Jill Rock Jones’ vocal recording. The "Going Round In Circles" 7-inch by Memory Of Justice Band is released on Celestial Echo and unveils two strong sides of this little-known ensemble from the Cayman Islands. The release was realized in collaboration with Whale Rider Records and longtime label friend Medlar.

Memory Of Justice Band formed in Grand Cayman in the 1970s, blending soul, reggae, funk and local island rhythms into a distinctive sound that made them one of the region’s most highly regarded bands. Their musical background comes through in warm melodies, smooth grooves and a palpable band chemistry.

On the A-side you’ll find the title track, "Going Round In Circles," a modern soul piece of graceful warmth: uplifting harmonies, precise musicianship and a soothing melodic flow define the song. Celestial Echo gently brings such gems back into circulation, remastered and respectfully presented.

The B-side, titled "Power," turns decisively toward the dance floor with a reggae-influenced boogie; produced by legendary duo Sly and Robbie, the track is built on a massive groove, a cohesive rhythm section and catchy hooks that perfectly complement the A-side’s soul element. Susana Estrada was one of the muses and main figures from the period known as ‘Transition’ in Spain. No other woman represented better than her the freedom and sexual revolution which the country experienced in the 70s after the end of the dictatorship.

A truly erotic Goddess, Susana was a model, singer and actress and one of the first women to perform fully-naked plays in Spain. She appeared in numerous erotic magazines and movies and her famous sexual counselling column for Play-Lady magazine caused a big commotion at the time. She reached fame with her erotic musical plays like “Historias Del Strip-Tease”, “Muñecas” (where she simulated to have sex with a robot!) or “Machos”.

As a singer, in 1980 Susana released her first 45 for the Belter label from Barcelona: “Machos” / “Acaríciame”. Produced by Josep Lobell and Manuel Gas, it contained two sexy disco tracks which paved the way for her first LP, “Amor y Libertad” (Love and Freedom), released on the Belter sub-label Sauce in 1981. Produced by Cosmic Disco pioneer Josep Llobell (Oliver’s Planet), this is a real fest of 80s Italo Disco, Munich Sound, Boogie, Funk and Modern Soul. The fabulous, minimal production of Llobell collides with the sensual vocals and moanings of Susana, singing about sexual liberation and freedom. Of course, when the album was originally released, nobody understood it. Criminally underrated for many years, “Amor y Libertad” has now become a cult item in the international Cosmic Disco scene.

But in 1980, a strange cassette by Susana called “Machos” was also released on the Belter label. It featured music and songs from the play of the same name. There, we can find “Espacial” (seven minutes of robotic funk and Space Cosmic Disco) and “Hagamos el amor” (“Let’s make love”), another sexadelic funk track much in the vein of the ones included on “Amor y Libertad”.

On this comp, you’ll find the entire “Amor y Libertad” album except the two tracks which were not in a disco / funk vein (“Ven” and “Arena y mar”), plus “Machos” ( a Celi Bee & the Buzzy Bunch cover), “Acaríciame” from the first Belter 45 and two tracks from the “Machos” cassette: “Espacial” and “Hagamos el amor”. We’ve also included a previously unreleased track courtesy of Susana: “Tócame”, recorded in 2007, in a High Energy Euro Disco vein.

The compositions draw impulses from deep listening practice and the idea of internally remembered sounds.

The material emerged from a combination of new recordings and rich archive sounds; sessions with Johanna Orellana on flutes and Eivind Lønning on trumpet were condensed into a multi-layered sample pool and further processed electronically. Melodic fragments recede in favor of textures, so the production more often feels like an acoustic memory fragment than a conventional song format.

Influential UK Jazz/Funk/Disco outfit THE Cool-notes' biggest hit 'Spend The Night', originally released in 1985, is back on Dafia Records with a set of brand new, never before released remixes by French Disco icon Dimitri From Paris.

The original, which reached #11 in the UK Top 40 in the Spring of 1985, is regarded as a mid-tempo UK classic by many since its first appearance. Known for his luxurious, groove-driven productions and remixes, Dimitri From Paris has reworked tracks for artists including Björk, Quincy Jones, Chic and New Order, while helping define the sound of modern disco and house music in a way only he can.

When he got the chance by Dafia label head Mannix to get his hands on the original multitrack tapes, he didn't hesitate to deliver two classic DFP revisions in the making. His Main version leaves all the essential elements of the timeless Original, highlights the parts that have deserved more exposure whilst adding crisp beats and nice effects to the game. As the saying goes, ‘There's nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come’. 50 years since Michael Orr and Carey Harris self-released Spread Love, this iconic underground cult masterpiece is finally getting the attention it deserved all along. A timeless release, with a sound, production and level of songwriting that could go toe-to-toe with the best, it was passed over by a number of labels back in ’75, leading to Michael and Carey putting it out themselves. Spread Love radiates with a message that is as pertinent as ever - heartfelt lyrics and soaring melodies covering a spectrum of genres including modern and classic soul, gospel, early disco, and jazz-funk.

Raised in Detroit before moving to rural West Virginia, Michael learned to play piano at a young age. Those early influences of Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick and many more, led him to form a band who played local ‘sock hops’ as well as getting paid $5 a week at aged 14 to play piano for the church choir.

Fast forward 10 years, and whilst working for the local county, Michael would travel back home every lunch to write songs on his baby grand in his basement. His dream was to be a songwriter, and his intention was never the limelight. He penned ‘Feelings’ with Gladys Knight in mind and sent it to his childhood friend Carey Harris, who was the bassist in her band. Gladys liked it but didn’t think it fit with where she was going at the time. That initial rejection sparked the idea of Carey and Michael recording it themselves. With the help of Michael’s wife who sold some of her possessions to fund the studio time, they recorded the album at Agency Recording Studio in Cleveland alongside one of the O'Jays drummers Ricardo “Ricky Speed” Nixon, Adolph Burton and Bernardine Mitchell.

That DIY drive paved the way for the now-iconic cover, with Michael’s sister-in-law painting the genie and rainbow and his brother drawing the sun / star logo for what became their record label. Spread Love’s time though hadn’t come. No matter how many Michael could sell to shops out of the boot of his car, the message couldn’t reach far enough to break it out to the wider world – ultimately putting him in a 50-year hiatus.

Spread Love is most known for its sublime anthemic title track. A celestial, soul-rousing cut with a message which feels more apt than ever. The album though is stacked start to finish with gems. There’s a balance between beauty and sadness in the modern-soul dancer ‘Here I Go (Through These Changes Again)’, a song that Johnnie Taylor would later cover. It features a superb vocal performance by Michael reminiscent of Gil Scott-Heron. The latest in our series of Limited Edition 7x7" Soul Box Sets celebrates the work of Dave Hamilton.

Dave's musical career in Detroit stretched from the 40s into the 80s. He was involved in all black music styles during that period - blues, jazz, and gospel as well as soul music. A talented songwriter, he wrote or contributed to ten of the fourteen compositions here and produced them all in his studios. Though his released output was modest, considering the amount of recording he did, the gems in his tape vaults have been surprising and entertaining black music lovers since they were accessed by Ace in 1990. That purchase came about due to Richard “Gilly” Gilbert’s detective work in discovering that a big covered-up Northern Soul spin at Wigan Casino was actually Dave’s production on “Little Ann” Bridgeforth. The ensuing years have seen soul tracks in all genres, issued on Kent and BGP and we are still discovering great tracks 36 years on. Witness ‘You Got Me Where You Want Me’ by Chico & Buddy, a fabulous funky number from around 1970 that would have been a soul fan’s favourite whenever it was issued; this is its first public appearance. Funk crosses over to all dance scenes these days and even jazzier tracks like Dave’s own ‘Soul Suite’, a close relation of his coveted ‘Pisces Piece’ will pick up plays now it is on vinyl. Northern Soul lovers have been demanding J T Rhythm’s ‘I Love The Way You Walk’ on a seven, as have Motown connoisseurs with Rita DuShay’s original of ‘All I Need (Steal Away Tonight)’ as covered by Barbara McNair on her 1966 Motown LP. Original copies exist of the Ravins ‘Your Love Is What I Want’ but unless you have several grand to spare on this fast and furious dancer, our audio-enhanced release is a great substitute; especially with the Kent 45 deleted. OC Tolbert delivers a tough and menacing Clarence Reid song ‘Along Came A Woman’ which has huge dancefloor potential, like Dave’s own bluesy vocal on his similarly gritty, R&B composition ‘Take Care Of Your Own Business’. Dave’s accomplishments into the 70s and 80s are admired by modern soul lovers and his ‘Ride The Disco Train’ by the Moderations, hit a perfect groove for progressive clubs of the genre. Both the Felecia Johnson and New Experience tracks thrive on the laid-back atmosphere Dave was able to conjure up in his home studios and the talented singers present his thoughtful songs with panache. With enhanced audio for both of Little Ann’s uptempo and ballad classics ‘What Should I Do’ / ‘Deep Shadows’ this box set is irresistible as well as being a tribute to the unsung heroes of Detroit Soul music.

These new 3‑minute edits distill the original arrangements into a concise form, spotlight breaks and solos with precision, and make the cuts well-suited for DJ sets and short vinyl rotation.

The Colemine Blue Vinyl Edition of the *Brighter Days Ahead Volume 2* compilation will be released by Colemine on November 27, 2026. Limited to 2,000 copies worldwide, the LP continues the series of the same name and turns its focus toward the label’s musical future.

While the first volume, released in 2021, brought together previously released singles from the Colemine orbit, Volume 2 presents previously unreleased tracks and early mixes. The twelve selections were created as a preview of upcoming releases slated for 2027, and some titles had not yet been finalized when the compilation was assembled. At the same time, the LP is initially the only way to hear these recordings, as they have not yet been released digitally.

Musically, the selection ranges from modern funk and soul to instrumentals with a strong affinity for organ grooves, rhythm and blues, and psychedelic textures. Finnigan & Wood open the set with “Shadows,” while the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio contributes “Buttered Popcorn.” Andrew Gabbard, Mae Powell, Parlor Greens, Say She She, and Jr. Thomas & The Volcanos showcase different facets of the Colemine universe. Contributors such as Okonski on Salvator Dragatto, along with The Ironsides and The Representatives, expand the spectrum with additional distinctive voices and bands. "The Spice of Life" is the second studio album by American singer Marlena Shaw and was originally released on Cadet Records in 1969. Today, the album is regarded as a timeless classic, masterfully blending soul, jazz, funk and blues. Tracks from the album have been widely sampled and have also featured in numerous commercials and even video games. The album includes two of Shaw’s best-known recordings: "California Soul", written by the legendary duo Ashford & Simpson, and "Woman of the Ghetto", a politically charged song co-written by Shaw herself. The latter has been covered and sampled countless times. Producers and arrangers Richard Evans and Charles Stepney were responsible for the album’s rich, orchestral sound and driving rhythms. As always with the Thousand Club LP series: all-analogue pressing, black 180g vinyl, sturdy cardboard sleeve with embossed "Thousand Club" logo, individually foil-stamped numbering (1–1000), PVC protective sleeve.

The “Family Tree” 12-inch by Family Tree, released on Acid Jazz / OST, brings back the well-known club classic and names Sharon Brown as the recording’s vocal presence. Acid Jazz is working with sister label OST Recordings and is reintroducing the single in 12-inch format after two quickly sold-out reissues; the A-side features the original 12-inch disco mix, while the B-side adds the shorter 7-inch edit as well as the OST Bonus Beats version, making its 12-inch debut here.

The release documents the track’s funky, soulful origins: Sharon Brown, known for “I Specialize in Love,” is at the center of the arrangements, while the Kevin Beamish disco version is presented alongside the shorter original version for the first time.
