Madvillainy is the debut and only studio album by Madvillain, a collaboration between legendary rapper MF DOOM (Daniel Dumile) and acclaimed producer Madlib (Otis Jackson Jr.), released on March 23, 2004 by Stones Throw Records. The album is often hailed as a masterpiece of underground hip-hop, characterized by its unconventional structure, eclectic production, and MF DOOM’s intricate, surreal lyrics.

"Blaque Spurm was conceived when I was ending my relationship with Poetic Groove Records for my group The Funk Family in 1993 and wanted to give a new name to my crew. Unfortunately, PGR lost their distribution with Interscope Records so it was time to reinvent ourselves and put out some new music. One day we were in the studio with my brother Borne "Baby Chill" Humbert (RIP) recording his album "Wake Up Call". He wanted me on his song "Black Sperm" so I was like "that would be a crazy name for a group". At the time, Borne was playing with the idea of calling his crew "The Secret Squirrels", so when I said was going to use the title of his song as the name of my group he was a little salty but ultimately was like that's dope and Blaque Spurm was born. I changed the spelling so it wouldn't appear so blunt and start drawing my own logos, I think the first logo I drew was the spermatozoa with the head shaped like a "B" and the stale shaped like an "S". Now I had to get with my producer Anthony "Tony D" Depula (RIP) and make an entire album based on this new name and concept so I started writing and coming up with bangers like "Bend-A-Hoe" and "Awh Fuck It“.

On my many travels to Houston I met and added to the crew two of the dopest Emcees by the names of Papa Doc, who was from Philly, and J-Nap from Queens. I also incorporated the production of some of Houston illest underground producers at the time, my homies Prodigy, Grizz and homie Itche. They were a perfect match to Tony D's melodic sound for the album. We were signed to American Recordings aka Def American when a young A&R rep and still my homie till this day, Mr. Dan Charnas, played Rick Rubin some of our music from The Funk Family album and a couple of the new BS songs. He said Rick loved the music, but when he told him our name he was blown away and next thing you know we're signing contracts and I was on my way to L.A. to meet with Rick. We recorded the album "Spurmacidal Tendencies" and released the "Splendid" 12 inch which also featured "Jizm", "Nonoxynol Rhyme'n" & "Pack Ya Shit" in 1994. We released our second single "Dayz & Dayz" & "The Cycle" a year later, but we severed ties with American shortly after and didn't release the full album until over a decade later. Originally released in Turkey 1973, Özkent’s masterpiece creation of an all instrumental Turkish Psychedelic Funk album filled with classic beats and breaks still inspires long time fans and first time listeners. The funky rhythms, hypnotic percussions, and heavy break beats makes this a holy grail amongst DJ’s and music fans alike. The original concept was futuristic and eluded categorization: traditional folk songs mixed with rock, jazz, blues, funk and psych, reconstructed for the new “hip” generation. (The monkey on a microphone album jacket also eludes categorization too.... or comprehension). The album was recorded live in just one day with some of the best studio musicians in Turkey. Lacking a multi-channel recording deck, Özkent used microphone techniques to emulate a total stereo effect and capture the heavy psychedelic effects and close-miked beat breaks. Özkent created his own unique guitar sound by adding extra frets and a clutch of effect pedals in order to create quarter notes and emulate turkish traditional scales. Mustafa Özkent has since made arrangements for hundreds of other artists in Turkey, but this unique album documents his most revered work—and the world is still just discovering this gem. The fact that only a handful of copies from the original pressing are known to still exist partly explains why, making this reissue a welcome addition to any record collection.

Hausu Mountain continues the HausLive series of live show recordings that capture some of the headiest moments in Chicago underground music. On HausLive 4, we rewind the clock approximately one year to May 3rd, 2024 at Constellation, where the all-star Bill Orcutt Guitar Quartet (featuring Wendy Eisenberg, Ava Mendoza, and Shane Parish) made their barn-burning Chicago debut. The series channels the spirit of the informal bootlegging and tape trading of audience recordings as pioneered by the community surrounding the Grateful Dead, honing in on the raw live energy and in-the-moment emotions that can make any show stand out in the stream of time. HausLive 4 catches the Bill Orcutt Guitar Quartet in a sublime state of tour-hardened synergy with one another as they tear through the four-string guitar compositions that Orcutt wrote for his album Music for Four Guitars (Palilalia Records, 2022) with dialed-in fingers-on-fretboard precision, while also letting those songs evolve into flights of improvisation and extend into solo and duo passages led by each of the four guitarists. As Orcutt says on tape during one of the show's interludes, ''that record is thirty minutes; this show is an hour, so we're improvising.'' The resulting free-wheeling moments combine with the rigidity of Orcutt's meticulous four-guitar compositions to form a program of music that draws power in equal measure from the forces of chance and discipline.

Recorded in december 2005, this furious live album by what can easily be called a super group remained unreleased till in 2023 Bill Laswell made it accessible in a rough-mixed digital version for his bandcamp subscribers program exclusively. For this vinyl version, the music has been newly mixed by Dirk Dresselhaus (SchneiderTM) and mastered / cut by RUY Mariné at Dubplates & Mastering Berlin. Purple Trap, the trio of Laswell / Haino / ALI, reunited for this one-off gig as part of a 5-day- Haino-festival at John Zorn’s venue „The Stone“, seven years after its only album Decided ... Already The Motionless Heart Of Tranquility, Tangling The Prayer Called "I" had been recorded (released on Tzadik in 1999). The six untitled tracks (+ one as digital bonus) deliver what can be expected from such musical masters: Rashied ALI, iconic free jazz drummer who played with John and Alice Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Sonny Rollins, James Blood Ulmer and countless more, is all drums, from quiet tiny sounds to high-energy rhythm patterns. "Waxwork Records is proud to release THE Texas Chain SAW Massacre Original Motion Picture Score by Tobe Hooper and Wayne Bell. In celebration of the iconic film's 50th Anniversary, the long awaited score album is now available for the very first time in any format. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a 1974 American Independent horror film produced, co-composed, and directed by Tobe Hooper, who co-wrote it with Kim Henkel. The plot follows a group of friends who fall victim to a family of cannibals while on heir way to visit an old homestead. Over the 50 years since its release, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has become widely regarded as one of the best and most influential horror films ever made.

The film's original score by Tobe Hooper and Wayne Bell is an experimental exercise in music composing and performance that utilizes non-traditional instruments such as suspended cymbals, aluminum saucepans, a children's toy percussion set, various wildlife calls, whistles, shakers, and more. The result is one of the earliest examples of industrial music and has since become known as the ""holy grail"" of film scores due to its status of being either lost or destroyed. As such, Hooper and Bell's innovative score has become highly sought after, spawning countless bootlegs and attempts to re-create it for commercial gain. Waxwork Records' release of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre by Tobe Hooper and Wayne Bell marks the first time the official score will be made available anywhere.

In 2023, the original film score master tapes were discovered and then privately held at the Harry Ransom Center in Austin, TX for preservation. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre's co-composer Wayne Bell painstakingly worked to have these original source material master tapes safely transferred. Bell then personally worked to construct and mix the newly transferred official Texas Chain Saw Massacre score for a cohesive listening experience. The score was then mastered by Thomas Dimuzio at Gench Mastering.

Waxwork Records is proud to present THE Texas Chain SAW Massacre Original Motion Picture Score by Tobe Hooper and Wayne Bell as a deluxe vinyl set featuring Clear with Blood Red Splatter colored vinyl, heavyweight gatefold jackets with a printed inner flood, exclusive liner notes by co-composer Wayne Bell, an 11x11 twelve page booklet with production and behind the scenes photography, and full album design by Steve Reeves.

When we last heard from Bay Area producer Dead Perry, he was riding high on the critical success of "The Art Of Re-Animation" album. That album was a re-imagining of legendary Hieroglyphics crew emcee Casual's work from his "Big Head Science" album. However on the forthcoming "Acoustic Shadows" album, as the title implies things get a bit dark. As he relays "when I made (The Art Of Reanimation) with Cas, I wanted to cater to the specific sound that Hieroglyphics has, but put my spin on it without making it too dark (though there are a couple of dark gems sprinkled throughout). I knew that my next album was going to be a solo LP and I wanted it to be something special. Dark and grimy has always been my style of beat making so I wanted to showcase that with this record." However, the title also has a double meaning to the producer. "The term Acoustic Shadows comes from a Civil War phenomenon that refers to a sonic blind spot. Due to geographical obstructions disrupting sound waves you could think you are a great distance from the battlefield while you could already be in it. That style is showcased throughout the forthcoming album, including his choice of collaborators include Casual, Daniel Son, Estee Nack, Al Divino, Raz Fresco, Ill Bill, Goretex, Hus Kingpin, Crimeapple, Planet Asia, Da Flyy Hooligan, Izrell, P-Dirt, J-Spliff and cuts from DJ Eclipse. Concepts also lent itself to the grime including the John Carpenter-esque synth laden "Call Me Snake" track, which inadvertently inspired the emcees. As Dead Perry relates "I give the beats a place-holder title until the track is done so this one was 'Die Kurt Russ.' P-Dirt chose to create the concept off the beat title. Crafting that song was a fun experience." It also has a full circle moment as Dead Perry and Casual expand their "White Crown" single from their previous project on this release enlisting Planet Asia to drop an additional Afro-Centric verse.

Following the departure of Large Professor during the production of their second album "The Science," the newly revived Main Source welcomed Mikey D as a replacement. They had planned to release their album "Fuck What You Think" in 1994 under Wild Pitch Records, but it was shelved due to Mikey D's departure. However, the album was unexpectedly released in 1998 after Main Source's disbandment, and now it is being reissued as a limited edition cassette from P-vine! The album, which includes the single "What You Need," a track that Madonna later sampled in her song "Human Nature" (1995), explores the NY hardcore sound that was trending in the scene at the time.
