Takuya Nakamura’s “Shape The Future” double LP is released on FABRICLIVE. and marks the first album by the New York-based Japanese jazz and electronic artist after nearly 35 years of musical work. On it, Nakamura combines his work as a trumpeter, singer, DJ, and electronic musician with a distinct feel for jungle, drum & bass, breakbeat, and jazz.

The album is divided into two chapters. The first part features studio recordings with Shigeto, Tim Reaper, Currency Audio, and Greentea Peng. “Broken Jazz” in particular brings Nakamura’s vintage trumpet together with powerful breakbeats and massive bass, while “Don’t Give Up” closes with Nakamura’s fragile vocals as an unconventional take on the song by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush.

The second part documents a live performance from Room 03 at London’s fabric club.
