Released on SCMD Music, the LP "Une Ball Dans La Tête" is presented here as a black vinyl edition, bringing the groundbreaking debut album by Belgian group De Puta Madre back to the vinyl format. Aimed at listeners who appreciate the raw, sample-driven hip-hop of the early nineties, this vinyl edition presents the originally self-produced tracks in remastered form, highlighting the unpolished DJ work and the pronounced beats.

Hailing from Schaerbeek (Brussels), De Puta Madre were regarded, with "Une Ball Dans La Tête," as one of the first independent rap outfits in Belgium; the album, originally released in the mid-nineties, established the group within the Francophone hip-hop scene. Stylistically, the record blends multilingual flows, turntablism, and a broad spectrum of influences ranging from funk to Latin-inspired rhythms, which left a lasting mark on the ensemble’s character.

The sound is defined by Smimooz’s production and DJ Grazzhoppa’s cuts, which give the tracks their textural depth; at the same time, the songs make striking use of sample-based references, as in the title track, which draws on elements from Isaac Hayes’s repertoire. Guest appearances and crew features further contribute to the variety of the arrangements, making the LP a document of the Belgian underground scene.

L’ep s’ouvre sur les trois coups qui annoncent l’ouverture d’une pièce de théâtre avec la présentation du beatmaker Goomar. Les titres qui suivent font le constat des bons et des mauvais choix de la vie, des relations humaines, puis des leçons que l’ont peut en tirer. C’est aussi un état des lieux du rap avec l’histoire d’un monstre qui dévore les rappeurs dans “Légende urbaines”, et un avis tranché sur les directions artistiques de l’industrie musicale dans “Objectif nul” et “Plus le temps”. On parle de la fine frontière entre le bien et le mal dans “Chute Libre” et l’avant dernier titre est une interlude sonore qui suggère la fuite du narrateur alors que tout le monde parle sans plus s’écouter les un avec les autres. L’ep se termine sur “Sorciers” un texte qui compare la création d’un titre à la préparation d’une potion et décrit l’alchimie des deux artistes.

Ce disque est un petit voyage musicale habillé de bruitage de cinéma de rap de scratch et d’instrumentales à ne pas écouter sur autoroute.

After a long hiatus, Tokyo-based french producer Dela comes back with Électrique, a new project paying tribute to hip-hop legends André 3000 and Big Boi, known together as OutKast. This new 7inch record includes three tracks of Électrique : Yosky Wosky Pisky Wisky, Dimanche Matin, and the bonus track Cergy. Known for his laid-back, jazz influenced, dreamy rap instrumentals, Dela introduced his music to the world with his Atmosphere Airlines mixtapes and his albums Changes Of Atmosphere (2008) and
Translation Lost (2011). A student of Q-Tip, Pete Rock and J-Dilla amongst others, Dela’s work foreshadowed today’s increasively popular lofi hip-hop / chillhop movement. Side A features Yosky Wosky Pisky Wisky, a remix of Stankonia’s classic Humble Mumble,
featuring Eykah Badu. Dela changes the mood of the original track, mixing samples and live instrumentation together to turn a salsa-breakbeat groove into a melody infused otherworldly superfunk. On side B, Dela remixes Sole Sunday, a Goodie Mob featuring Outkast track, edited to feature only the two ATLiens and renamed Dimanche Matin. The beat is reminiscent of his early work, layering boom bap drums over a haunting saxophone melody. Also on side B, the bonus cut Cergy turns a Brazilian MPB sample into an ode to Dela’s hometown with the help of live drums, bass, electric keyboards and a few of his friends singing.

Finally, this classic in French rap gets a proper reissue treatment. “Sol Invictus” is the 2nd official solo album by French rapper and IAM crew member Akhenaton. The album was originally released in 2001. All tracks got remastered and pressed to triple 180-gram vinyl.

Philippe Fragione better known by his stage name Akhenaton (born September 17, 1968, in Marseille) is a French rapper and producer of French hip hop. He has also worked under the aliases Chill, AKH, Sentenza, and Spectre. He became famous as a member of the group IAM, and has since made a number of records, both with IAM and as a solo artist.

Akhenaton has also worked as a producer, producing songs for several French rappers and groups such as Passi, Stomy Bugsy, Chiens de Paille, Fonky Family, Freeman (a fellow member of IAM who has since made his break as a solo artist), La Brigade, Le 3ème Œil, etc. He is the creator of the record label Côté Obscur, the publishing house La Cosca, and the vinyl record label 361.

The “Une Ball Dans La Tête Orange Vinyl Edition” by De Puta Madre presents the groundbreaking debut of the Brussels hip-hop collective in a newly reissued format and prominently showcases the ensemble’s characteristic sound. The LP brings together the distinctive beats and dense flows that have marked the work as a milestone of Belgian rap since its inception; the album’s origins date back to the mid-1990s, and it was originally released independently.

Trad Vibe records is happy and proud to present you this project as well execptional as unpublished! We are in 1994, DJ Clyde left the group Assassin and launched the 1st French Mixtapes but he sees even further and launches into the production for the 1st time since he became a hip-hop activist. His set up seems very simple but unusual and innovative for the time especially in France with a Sp1200 and two S950 and a maximum of Soul, Funk, Jazz vinyls that he digs with his crew Hypnotyc Djs (Dj Clyde, Dj Max, Dj Asko). The project is also exceptional because it comes from a cassette archived by Clyde of beats sent for the album Paris Sous Les Bombes of the famous group Suprême NTM (3rd album of the group). Of course you will not find the beats released with his last but all the unselected gems that reveals the talent and the advance that Dj Clyde had taken in the production at that time! More than an instrumental album or beat tape, this project is a testimony of the history of Hip-Hop and moreover of Beatmaking in France in the 90s which was not supposed to see the day. The cover is made by the talented grafiti artist Cyril "Kongo" of the famous and historical crew of graffiti artists MAC (founded in 1986 in Montreuil).

No Sé had a big summer hit in France in 1995 with the release of the single "Quelle Aventure" featuring Menelik. The pre-productions began in 1995 and the vocals were recorded in Paris in early 1996. Due to complications with the french label it was never released.

Classic 1995-1996 Hip Hop production flavours combined with great french rap lyrics from dope underground MCs but also french hip hop legends such as Menelik, Dee Nasty and Sidney.
