Pianist Pat Thomas, saxophonist Seymour Wright (both of [ahmed]) and drummer Paul Abbott - the latter two working as XT - deliver a remarkable set of new music, each, re-imagining improvisation and synthetic ideas with acoustic and electronic tools. This monumental new suite Strata, Act (Joy Contemporary)* released by We Jazz Records on 30th January 2026 is spread across three release formats, the complete album includes more than 2 hours and 15 minutes of music recorded live in London and Zurich in summer 2023. Five tracks in total. complex, iterative whole that makes ideas live - back into tradition/s and out, on, into an infinite future. In 2018 the trio recorded a remarkable 80-minute tribute to the late Cecil Taylor "Akisakila" / Attitudes of Preparation (Mountains, Oceans, Trees) vigorously re-visiting his 1973 Tokyo trio Akisakila recording. Re-convening five years later to celebrate that release they imagined a-new, expanding that attitude to history through connected lenses of the traditions of British electro-acoustic-mystery: from the live electronics of Tony Oxley’s February Papers or Howard Riley’s Synopsis, to Leviticus’ Burial and Splash’s Babylon, plus of course Derek Bailey’s Domestic Jungle, and now up to their overlapping global-temporal experiments with, between them, Mark Fell, Anne Gills and RPBoo. The subtitles of each disc reveal something essential about the three musicians’ shared histories and ways of thinking-through-synthesizing ideas, time, space and sound. The LP, titled Strata, Act (Joy Contemporary)* London draws from UK improvising pioneer, guitarist Derek Bailey (on playing with Cecil) in its subtitle: “*(it's quite different to the other stuff, the earlier stuff. Without going into all kinds of detail which usually undersells the music, can't describe it. But it was a fine experience, and very memorable.)” Captured at London’s Cafe OTO, the LP hears Thomas & XT expand their acoustic trio each with liquid (dry and wet) electronics, as real and imagined instrumentation. We hear sounds of keys, sticks, reeds, pedals, (i)pads, plug-ins, body and breath and their potentials. We also hear the unique energy, space and feel of OTO a sui generis ecology in which all three musicians have worked and learned since its doors opened in 2008. And as you will hear, this night was a particularly wild, multi-species reception. Released as a double CD, Strata, Act (Joy Contemporary)* Zurich takes its sub-title from the great drummer, and live electrician, Tony Oxley (also on playing with Cecil): “*(is so much more immense if you prepare yourself to go where the music will take you, and not try and make the music go where you want it perhaps, or think it might go)”. Here we hear the music grow across two nights (one per disc), synthetic, bionic expanding, evaporating, electric, charging through time in ways that renders “genre” indistinguishable, irrelevant and even impossible. Two additional digital tracks added, “London First Set” and “Zurich Three” round up the release and connect back, in redux-miniature, to Attitudes[...]. This set is a multi-format document of some of the most adventurous, rare (and radical) creative musicians working today. Electronic-and-acoustic, real and imaginary, sounds, times, scales and proportions that extends out of and collapses into musical space in dialogue with past and future.

‘Bad Neighbor’ is a collaborative studio album by rappers MED and Blu and producer Madlib. Originally released on October 30, 2015, the 13 track LP features guest appearances from the likes of the late MF DOOM, Aloe Blacc, Mayer Hawthorne, Jimetta Rose, Dâm-Funk, and Oh No. The album is undoubtedly an extension of all three artists’ signature sounds, but it simultaneously defies all precedents to reaffirm each individual’s position at the forefront of LA’s legendary hip-hop landscape.

"Killa Instinct" had the makings of a classic, with features from @icet, @shafiqhusayn, @guru.jazzmatazz, @real_godfather_don & @agallahthedon and production handled by the legendary @tr_ultralife, @shafiqhusayn, @real_godfather_don, @ommaskeith and Ariel Caban.

But right before the album was about to come out, Warner called the crew into the office and said they had good and bad news: Raw Breed could take the album to another label, or be given a budget to record a new one – either way they couldn’t put this album out. Warner was giving out nice budgets at the time, so Raw Breed recorded "Blood, Sweat & Tears" instead leaving "Killa Instinct" in the vaults for the time being.

Back in 2017 the album was finally released by our friends @dustanddoperecordings and @back2dasourcerecords in limited fashion. A lot of people missed out back then so we are proud to announce a limited reissue on vinyl and CD. Shoutout to @daclassicrawbreed and @marclivegiveand for making this happen.

Neek The Exotic grew up with Large Professor & started rhyming at a young age with childhood friends such as Nas, Royal Flush and Mr. Cheeks of The Lost Boyz. When Large Professor’s group Main Source were involved in the soundtrack for White Men Can’t Jump, Neek joined them and appeared on the classic song “Fakin’ The Funk” (but he was incarcerated when it came out).

His first solo album, named after his classic "Exotic's Raw" didn't drop until 2003. With Large Professor producing more than half of the tracks, and several features from Royal Flush it became an underground banger. Now in 2025 HHE is proud to announce a limited double vinyl reissue of that classic album. We secured the DAT tapes and reels some years ago from Neek and now it's finally time to bring this superb project back to life. As a bonus you will get 2 previously unreleased tracks and 2 bonus instrumentals.

A.D.O.R. first came onto the scene in 1992 with "Let It All Hang Out" produced by his old friend and fellow Money Earnin Mount Vernon resident Pete Rock, who by 1992 was already an acclaimed producer and cited as one of the best in the biz. It was an instant classic and a hit in the summer of 1992, was driven by Pete Rock's irresistible horn loop and the tight flow of A.D.O.R.'s rhymes. A.D.O.R. toured with major acts and made television appearances building on the buzz created by "Let It All Hang Out". In 1994 he followed up with a second single, "One for the Trouble", produced by K-Def and the legendary Queensbridge producer Marley Marl. "One for the Trouble" signaled that plans were underway for a debut album on Atlantic titled The Concrete. Despite his successful run at the major label, A.D.O.R. was let go from his contract with Atlantic in 1995 without The Concrete being released, reportedly because of disputes over creative decisions, even though promotional items were released and the catalogue number 82443 was assigned to the release. As most of you know, we sadly lost @truador on January 1st of this year. We kept in touch throughout the years and he often sent me videos of newly released music that sampled his voice or newly recorded tracks. After Eddy's passing we got in touch with the new head of Tru Reign Records, his son @_eddycastellanoss_ who's committed to keep the legacy of his father alive. As "The Concrete" remained one of the most requested releases we felt it was only right to honor A.D.O.R's classic with a beautiful reissue.

Light in the Attic is honored to announce the long-awaited reissue of Synthesizing: Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat, the revolutionary 1982 album from composer and musician Charanjit Singh. Pairing Indian classical ragas with then-state-of-the-art Roland synthesizers and drum machines, Singh created an electronic masterpiece that was far ahead of its time.

Recording live at Mumbai’s HMV studios, Singh married the past to the future—blending the ancient Indian tradition of ragas (a melodic framework, similar to a scale, from which musicians can improvise or compose) with pulsating, electronic dance beats. Released without fanfare, it faded into obscurity and Singh retired from recording to focus on private concerts, but that’s where the story begins…

Released in cooperation with Singh’s estate, Synthesizing: Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat arrives on June 26th. The 10-track album was remastered by Johanz Westerman at Ballyhoo Studio Mastering and stretched across 2-LPs for the highest quality listening experience. The vinyl was pressed at Optimal Media and housed in a gatefold jacket that replicates the original artwork.

An accompanying 16-page LP booklet features previously-unreleased photos and two new essays: the first from Arshia Fatima Haq and Jeremy Loudenback of Discostan—a multimedia collective and record label focusing on music from South West Asia and North Africa—while the other comes from filmmaker and writer Rana Ghose of event and film production entity REProduce Artists, who managed Singh in his final years and documented his triumphant return to the stage. Additionally, fans can find a limited-edition pressing of Synthesizing: Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat on ‘Pearlescent Transcendent Future’ Color Wax, while the album will also be reissued on CD with a 32-page booklet containing all of the above.

Indian multi-instrumentalist and composer Charanjit Singh (1940–2015) never intended to be an electronic dance music pioneer when he recorded 1982’s Synthesizing: Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat. Yet three decades later, his inventive use of state-of-the-art synthesizers and drum machines would prompt some to crown him the “Godfather of Acid House.” The real story, however, runs much deeper.

A native of Mumbai, Singh spent much of his career as a Bollywood session musician, collaborating with renowned composers like RD Burman and Shankar–Jaikishan, and appearing on some of the most iconic Hindi film hits of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Outside of the film industry, Singh recorded several of his own albums and toured the world alongside the era’s biggest stars—an opportunity which allowed him to collect new instruments, including synthesizers and other electronic devices. As psychedelia and disco wove their way into Bollywood scores, Singh was at the forefront, integrating a host of electronic textures into his work (his hypnotic Transicord introduction on “Dum Maro Dum” from 1971’s Hare Rama Hare Krishna is among his most recognizable performances).

By the turn of the ‘80s, however, Singh was disenchanted by the creative limitations of session work and embarked on a solo career. Not long after, on tour in Singapore, he discovered three Roland devices that had just hit the market: the TR-808 drum machine (released 1980), the TB-303 bass synthesizer (released 1981), and the Jupiter 8 synthesizer (released 1981). While this trio would fuel early electronic dance music in the coming years, Singh was among the first known artists to pair them on record when he was inspired to create his next album, Synthesizing: Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat.

Using only the three devices and recording live at Mumbai’s HMV studios, Singh married the past to the future—blending the ancient Indian tradition of ragas (a melodic framework, similar to a scale, from which musicians can improvise or compose) with pulsating, electronic dance beats, while programming the TB-303 to follow classical Hindustani scales. From the hypnotic drones of “Raga Bhairavi” to the uplifting jams of “Raga Bairagi” the album proved perhaps to be a bit too visionary for its time. Released without fanfare, it faded into obscurity and Singh retired from recording to focus on private concerts.

Two decades later, Dutch DJ and record collector Edo Bouman was in New Delhi when he came across an old copy of Ten Ragas. Bouman was astounded by what he heard—electronic music that had all the hallmarks of acid house, recorded five years before Chicago DJs coined the term. Bouman spent the next few years tracking down Singh and, in 2010, reissued the album on his label, Bombay Connection.

Soon, Ten Ragas became a viral sensation, sparking disbelief and debates about the origins of acid house. But, as Haq and Loudenback explain, those in the conversation “Had little frame of reference for [Singh’s] music outside of the parameters of western club music.” Viewed through the lens of the Hindi film industry, they argue, the album’s through-line comes into focus. In the ‘60s, when Western artists were looking to India for inspiration, Bollywood was “A laboratory for discovering sounds, and for harnessing every new technology that could be found or repurposed…. Singh’s album is more fittingly placed within the framework of the expansion of Bollywood’s experiments in disco, rather than that of acid house.”

“Perhaps this is yet another example of how a public engages with those who are ahead of their time,” adds Rana Ghose. “This record is a direct consequence of a centuries-old classical music form, rendered through the lens of a visionary who used the vanguard of technology at the time to recast it, resulting in an artefact that, almost 40 years later, is finding entirely new audiences in an era marked by a changing and uncertain global landscape of soft-power assertion. Considering this reassessment is as exciting as it is fascinating. Much like this record.”

While Ten Ragas sparked plenty of conversations within the electronic music community, it also gave a bemused Singh a surge of newfound fame during the final years of his life, allowing him to play with his live collaborator Johanz Westerman (Thee J Johanz) to thousands of fans at packed club shows and festivals in Europe, the U.S., and India. Among those fans are Australian duo Glass Beams (who covered “Raga Bhairav”), German electronic duo Modeselektor, and Thom Yorke, who ranked “Raga Lalit” as one of his “6 Tracks You Need to Hear” via the BBC.

Most importantly, however, Ten Ragas resonated deeply with South Asian artists, who saw electronic music from India being recognized with new reverence. In the words of Vish Matre (of the UK DJ duo Dar Disku), “This record will be remembered for, not being the predecessor to another genre, but being a precursor to a lot of new music from the diaspora that relied on it as inspiration.”

Six years to the date of his last LP, Thundercat will release his fifth studio album, Distracted, coming out April 3rd via Brainfeeder. The drawbacks of distraction are evident in today’s attention (deficit) economy, but a true idiosyncratic like Thundercat can identify the ways in which it can be used to one’s advantage. You can’t spell ‘daydreams’ without ‘dreams,’ after all.

What he ultimately wants listeners to take from Distracted is disarmingly simple: “Just enjoy it and have fun and just know that the struggle is real and changes shape, but just to keep pushing forward.” In an era that demands constant commentary, Thundercat offers something quieter and, in its own way, more radical. He gives permission to be confused. To be tired. To be, well, distracted — and still make something beautiful out of the noise.

The opening track on YĪN YĪN’s new album, Yatta!, begins with a sample of the philosopher Alan Watts expounding: “There is no Yang without Yin and no Yin without Yang.”

Appropriately enough, the track – a jubilantly upbeat slice of disco action – is called “In Search of Yang,” and begs a question about the meaning of the group’s name. The group’s drummer and co-founder, Kees Berkers, explains: “Yin Yang is about balance between two different forces and Yin Yin would essentially mean two negative forces that cannot reach a common ground. So, YĪN YĪN is about finding a balance in the unbalanced.”

Certainly, over the last six years, the quartet from Maastricht in the south of the Netherlands has built a reputation for balancing an eclectic range of influences and using them to forge something that is affectionately retro and, at the same time, fresh and forward-facing.

The group’s origins lie in an experimental jam session in a remote village ballet school in 2017, leading to the release of the single, “Dion Ysiusk,” the following year. The debut album, The Rabbit That Hunts Tigers was released in 2019, followed by The Age of Aquarius in 2022. Twice Grammy-nominated, Mercury Prize and BRIT Award-winning artist Arlo Parks announces her new album, Ambiguous Desire, due April 3rd via Transgressive Records.

Ambiguous Desire is Parks at her most confident and experimental, supplanting live band sessions for modular synths, ableton plugins and samplers that channel the frenetic, vibrant spaces she was immersed in, all while spotlighting the acclaimed poetry and lyricism she’s beloved for.

Reflecting on the making of the record, Parks shares, "I danced more than ever as I made this record, I made more friends than ever too, found myself in the weird underbelly of New York juke nights, unleashed, laughed and laughed and laughed. This record has desire at its centre. Desire is a life force, it’s a wanting, a yearning, a momentum - we are all alive because there is something or someone we want - desire is an engine. But it is also mysterious, tangled, random, enlightening and HUMAN."

Parks crafted the album with producer Baird (Brockhampton, Kevin Abstract). Their process unfolded between NYC’s vibrant, community-rooted nightlife and long, introspective days spent in Baird’s downtown loft. The result is Parks’ most vulnerable, self-affirming, and euphoric work to date.

Emeralds, the sophomore long player from Parlor Greens, finds the trio serving up a beautifully curated sampler of what funky organ music can be. On Parlor Greens’ debut LP In Green We Dream, they announced their existence boldly to the welcoming arms of funky instrumental fans around the world. Now, two years later, they’re back to up the ante. Three true masters of their respective crafts: Tim Carman (formerly of Ga-20) on drums, Jimmy James (True Loves) on guitar, and Adam Scone (Scone Cash Players, The Sugarman 3) on organ. Seasoned and soulful pros coming together to make infectiously funky instrumental jams.

Parlor Greens are truly in top form: tour tight and more confident than ever in who they are and where they’re going. The album’s opener, “Eat Your Greens,” kicks the doors off with a Charles Earland-inspired four on the floor beat, with Jimmy and Scone driving the tune down the tracks like an overloaded freight train, it simply cannot be stopped. On “Red Dog,” the group channels the absolute heaviest shade of early R&B with Jimmy’s crunchy guitar paving the way for both he and Scone to take scorching solos. “Lion’s Mane” shows a slightly more sophisticated side of the trio, with nods to one of Scone’s organ mentors, the incomparable Dr. Lonnie Smith. Not to be outdone by his bandmates, Tim Carman shows off why he plays the best shuffle this side of the Mississippi on “Letter To Brother Ben,” a gospel-tinged shuffler.

And while the results are stronger than ever, the mood of this second cooking session was much different. The first time these three met in Loveland at Colemine’s Portage Lounge studio was marked by a certain freshness. It was new, it was the first time they had all played together. It was exciting, it was unknown territory. The session for Emeralds weighed much heavier on all three members. All three dealing with personal tragedies in their individual lives, the session truly served as a genuine moment of joy for the group. Just three talented musicians, writing and playing music now as friends in a familiar environment. No moment is the weight of the session more obvious than with the album’s closer, “Queen Of My Heart,” a tune Jimmy wrote for his mother shortly after she passed away.

Logan S. Washington (a.k.a. Skell) was born in Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York City. His earliest hip-hop influence was A Tribe Called Quest, which helped shape his love for storytelling, rhythm, and perspective. By age 10, Logan had already begun writing, rhyming and describing the world around him before the inner city fully took hold. At 12, when his mother and father relocated the family to Charlotte, North Carolina, he leaned deeper into his craft, sharpening his skills and making a name for himself by killing cyphers in school and throughout the city.

At 15 years old, he met his mentor and producer Brian Dunovant, a turning point that helped define his musical direction. Soon after, Logan released his East Side cult classic „Icebergs" (1998), featuring Ekips, Tuff M.C., Peaches, K.I.M. and Supreme Killa. The project gained traction quickly, leading to interviews on Power 98 and performances at the legendary Sugar Shack. From that moment on, Logan was on his way, grounded in authenticity, lyricism and purpose.

Big Crown Records is proud to present the sophomore full-length from Les Imprimés, Fading Forward. Spearheaded by self-taught multi-instrumentalist and producer Morten Martens, the album explores mortality, escapism, and a myriad of experiences associated with love. Martens made a tremendous impression with his highly acclaimed 2023 debut Rêverie and has since cultivated a diehard fanbase whose demographics are as wide-ranging as the influences that shape his music. He mixes tones from ’60s and ’70s soul with arrangement nods to doo-wop records, takes drum energy from hip-hop, and covers the whole thing with vocal stylings drawn from ’90s and 2000s alternative. But it is Martens’ lyrics, emotion, and delivery that truly bring everything together and help him stand out from his peers. There’s an infectiousness and pop sensibility in the writing, executed with the utmost class and taste, giving Les Imprimés the rare quality of immediate attraction that only deepens with repeat listens. Hailing from Kristiansand, Norway, Martens plays nearly every instrument on Fading Forward, produces and arranges the album, and of course sings. “It’s soul music, but I don’t exactly have the soul voice,” Morten explains humbly. “But I do it my own way, in a way that’s mine.” Album opener “You & I” is Morten’s homage to his partner, who sticks it out “through the chaos and the blunders” with him. Punchy drums and cascading pianos make this one a proper two-stepper and an anthem for those lucky enough to find someone who understands them and helps them through the parts of life where they need it most. “Again & Again” slows the pace and deals with the heavier side of love and life, as Martens professes his resilience through the mishaps, heartbreak, and letdowns of love affairs gone wrong. “Untainted Love” brings the sweet side of new love center stage with a tune that plays on the title of the Gloria Jones classic. “Get Lost” leans into the metaphysical with an invitation to leave reality behind and spend time with Les Imprimés, where there’s room to dream. “Only Love” is built over a gritty drum break, with a chorus that is simple yet profound, and an arrangement that gives it the energy of a mantra. The album turns to the dancefloor on “With You,” an uptempo, uplifting tune about a fleeting encounter that leaves you pining for more. Martens longs for her, but joyfully—as if simply remembering that such a connection is possible is exactly what he needed. Martens is joined by guest vocalist Ama Li on “Miss the Days,” a slow-burning ballad that reckons back to simpler times when love felt easier. Fading Forward closes on a wholly somber note with “Paradise,” a tune that wishes freedom and peace to a friend who passed away. In the small town of Kristiansand, Norway, there is a huge talent who spent much of his life laying low and playing in the background. Signing to New York’s Big Crown Records inspired Morten Martens to begin sharing his own music. The response to his debut Rêverie pushed him out of the studio and onto the stage, serving as inspiration to push his artistry to new heights—heights that are fully realized on Fading Forward.

With Sexistential, Robyn returns with her most pop-oriented album to date. Following the atmospheric Honey (2018), she once again places clearly structured pop songs at the center — nine concise tracks created at a deeply personal turning point. After the end of a long-term relationship, Robyn reorganized her life, consciously chose single motherhood, and engaged intensively with questions of sexuality, intimacy, independence, and identity.

Work on the album began in 2020 and was shaped by the pandemic. With borders closed, Robyn collaborated exclusively with Swedish companions, most notably producer Klas Åhlund. The album also features co-writes with Max Martin — their first collaboration since Body Talk — as well as a newly reworked version of Blow My Mind, dedicated to her son. Sonically, Sexistential merges classic pop structures with a hyper-modern production.

Thematically, the album revolves around desire, vulnerability, and loss of control — and the tension between emotion and biology. The single Dopamine portrays longing both as a feeling and as a chemical process, shaped by Robyn’s experiences with IVF. Humor and self-irony run through the title track, while songs like Sucker for Love defend romantic love without reproducing naïve role models. Sexistential stands for artistic integrity, conscious openness, and a self-determined new beginning — risky, honest, and full of hope.

“Percussions” is the fourth album by Saint Tropez Orchestra.

As the title suggests, the accent is firmly on percussion, with most of the 20 tracks featuring a wide array of percussion instruments. Why? The band leader is a percussionist, that’s why!

There’s plenty of nuggets here for the library music heads, the soundtracks aficionados, and of course the breaks diggers. As a whole, the album has a crazed vintage soundtrack feel, helped by the band using a pair of analog tape recorders to capture each track, surrounded by piles of percussion along with the usual organs, wah-wah guitars, clavinet, synthesizers, flutes, zithers, and super funky bass.

If you’re wondering why the song titles and sleeve text are in Spanish - partially it’s because the band leader lived in Puertollano for a while as a kid, but also it’s a tribute to the Barcelona-born recording engineer, Sara, who fell off her chair during the sessions and broke her arm! But she is super tuff and didn’t even realise it was broken until after the album was recorded. Get well soon, Sara. x

The 15th Anniversary Reissue of Nineteen Ninety Nowc elebrates the landmark 2010 collaboration between Celph Titled and Buckwild, pairing Celph’s punchline-driven rhymes with Buckwild’s timeless 1990s production. This special edition isr eleased via Demigodz Enterprises in partnership with Coalmine Reissues, where every detail matters. It was a groundbreaking concept. After stockpiling ideas for a decade, Celph Titled was discussing his debut solo album with James DL of No Sleep Recordings in 2009. James DL was working with Buckwild, whose production in the1990s with Black Rob, The Notorious B.I.G., O.C., and others helped define the decade. James DL mentioned that Buckwild had a box of discs with unused beats from the 1990s. That’s when the concept emerged. Celph Titled would use those unreleased Buckwild beats as the sonic foundation for his forthcoming LP. Buckwild loved the idea and the pair got to work. “Instead of trying to make a record that sounded like the ’90s, we took beats that were made back at that time and made new songs,” Celph Titled says today. “That’s where the Now comes in, Nineteen Ninety Now.” Instead, Nineteen Ninety Now stands as two artists hitting their creative apex. “It really holds its place as a one-of-a-kind project,” Celph Titled says.

"This album was born in Southeast Washington, D.C., in the winter of 1992 — a place where music was survival, loyalty was everything, and talent had to fight for air. That’s where a young rapper named Eric Jones, soon to be known as Vice Versa, began carving out a legacy that never got the shine it deserved. Vice Versa came up with his childhood friend Stan, a local DJ with crates full of vinyl and a hunger that matched his own. They spent nights in basements looping beats and freestyling until sunrise - sharpening a sound that mixed D.C. grit with New York lyricism. Word spread. Battles were won. Open mics were crushed. A voice was rising out of Southeast.

Everything changed when a street-connected visionary named Baron “B” Flemings stepped in with money, ambition, and a belief in Vice’s raw talent. Alongside him came E-Boogie (Eric Kennedy), a young industry insider with D.C. roots and New York access. Together they formed Rage One Recordings - a label funded by hustle, heart, and the kind of grind nobody teaches in music school. The sonic backbone of Rage One was Scotty Beats, a gifted engineer/producer who lived inside Horizon Studio and transformed raw ideas into polished records. With Scotty behind the boards and Vice Versa behind the mic, the crew began shaping the project that would become Basick Mentality.

Tracks like “Paradise,” “All Around The World,” “Guts & Glory,” and “Let Your Nuts Hang” were born during this era - created with passion, pressure, and the belief that D.C. had something to say. The team opened for legends like Busta Rhymes and EPMD, rehearsing day and night, chasing the breakthrough they knew was coming. The self-titled album has been released in limited quantities on CD only in 1997. But real life hit harder than any beat. As the team expanded its operations to Los Angeles and met with major labels, street life and circumstance took their toll. Jail time, mismanaged funds, broken trust, and life’s responsibilities pulled the crew apart just as the music was reaching its peak.

Then tragedy struck. In the same year, both pillars of this project - Scotty Beats and Vice Versa - were murdered. Two brilliant lives gone. Two futures erased. Two brothers lost forever. Scotty was killed protecting his property. Vice Versa was killed in a robbery in the same neighborhoods he once electrified with his voice. For years, the music was lost - buried in memories, scattered across cities, carried only by those who refused to let the story die.

This re-release is more than a project. It is a resurrection. A tribute. A testament to a crew that gave everything. To Vice Versa. To Scotty Beats. To Rage One. To the dream that lived, died, and now lives again.

The supergroup Deltron 3030 is composed of producer Dan the Automator, rapper Del the Funky Homosapien, and DJ Kid Koala, and sometimes features guest artists who also adopt varying futuristic pseudonyms. Initially released in 2000 on the now-defunct 75ARK record label, this hip-hop concept album was released the same year as Gorillaz's first 12" and is on a similar plane. Following the release of Deltron 3030, all three members participated in the Gorillaz' self-titled debut album.

With Del aka Deltron Zero on vocals, Dan the Automator aka The Cantankerous Captain Aptos on production, and Kid Koala aka Skiznoid the Boy Wonder on turntables, this album takes the listener on a paranoid journey set in a dystopian year 3030 dealing with viruses, the apocalypse, an oppressive government, and a war waged against a huge company called the Corporate Bank of Time that rules the universe, all to the well-crafted and consistent musical backing of the Automator.

Appearances by Damon Albarn (Gorillaz, Blur), Prince Paul, Peanut Butter Wolf, Money Mark, Paul Barman, Mark Bell (Bjork, production), Sean Lennon, and Mr Lif complement Del's vocal style and add the right amount of flavor to this classic period piece.

To commemorate the 25th Anniversary, the album is being reissued as a Limited Edition Deluxe 4xLP Box Set. The box set is packaged in a 12.5" x 12.5" 50-page hardbound book containing the album and all the instrumentals across four smoke-colored LPs. The 50-page book contains artwork, lyrics, and liner notes by Hanif Abdurraqib.

What happens when Pakistani sitar virtuoso Ashraf Sharif Khan meets Hamburg-based producer, sampling master, DJ, and Golden Pudel operator Viktor Marek? The floating, transcendent sounds of classical South Asian sitar music are transformed into highly danceable club tracks, leaving us searching for categories to describe the result. With the release of their debut album Sufi Dub Brothers (2020), the duo coined the term Sufistep, describing an equal meeting point of modern British bass music, hip-hop, acid, electronica, and classical South Asian music.

Now they’re back. Over the past few years, Ashraf Sharif Khan & Viktor Marek have built a solid career based on the sheer power of their extraordinary—and extraordinarily entertaining—live sets. The time is therefore ripe for The Return of The Sufi Dub Brothers. Their new album, whose title is both a nod to the late Lee “Scratch” Perry and to forgotten superhero franchises, will be released on September 5, 2025, via Fun In The Church. Ashraf Sharif Khan: The unmatched sitar virtuoso is regarded as a “national treasure” in Pakistan, yet prefers a quiet life in a suburb of Hamburg. He is the son and student of Pakistan’s legendary sitar maestro, the late Ustad Muhammad Sharif Khan Poonchwale, and comes from the renowned Poonch Gharana of classical sitar playing. Over the past two decades, Ashraf has represented Pakistan as a cultural ambassador at major international music festivals abroad, crossing regional boundaries and earning admiration for his homeland.

Viktor Marek: The globe-trotting producer, sampling wizard, and DJ Marek is managing director of the infamous Golden Pudel Club in Hamburg’s St. Pauli district and is known for his involvement in projects such as The Kings of Dubrock, 8 Doogymoto, and, more recently, for his production work with West African artists including Patrick Kabré and Les Soeurs Doga.

Dirty Weaponry is the second studio album by Wu-Tang affiliates Killarmy, released on August 11, 1998 through Wu-Tang Records in partnership with Priority Records. The album continues the sonic and thematic direction of their debut Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars, but pushes the group’s trademark aesthetic even further: a dark, militant atmosphere shaped by war metaphors, Five-Percent Nation references, street-level paranoia, and a raw, lo-fi production style. It will come out, but in the meantime, fed up with the waiting around, Saint Tropez Orchestra entered the studio and laid down "Heavy Soul Dance Party" straight to 4-track, needles-in-the-red, first takes and all.

The album is currently being negotiated for a vinyl release, so look out for that in the New Year.

Port Authority is the debut album by Canadian hip-hop producer Marco Polo, released on May 15, 2007 through Soulspazm Records and Rawkus Records. Leon Michels has quietly become one of the most sought-after producers in music. His signature sound has caught the attention of the mainstream while continuing to inspire the underground. Since 2023’s El Michels Affair & Black Thought album Glorious Game, Michels has been busy producing records for other artists; Norah Jones’ Grammy winning Visions, Clairo’s Grammy nominated Charm, Kali Uchis’ “Moonlight”, as well as albums for labelmates Brainstory, Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek, Thee Heart Tones, and Liam Bailey. His new album 24 Hr Sports marks the highly anticipated return to recording under his own moniker, El Michels Affair

24 Hr Sports was inspired by the fashion and graphic design of ‘80s & ‘90s Sports Illustrated magazines, MF DOOM’s Special Herbs albums, the sample sources used on them, and gospel music a la Pastor T.L. Barrett. The sum of those influences with Michels’ impeccable creative touch prove to be the recipe for an instant classic that will surely be one of the most heralded releases of 2025. The album opener “Drum Line” is an anthemic, uplifting tune with marching band drumming and thundering brass arrangements that command undivided attention and set the tone for what’s to come. 24 Hr Sports sees a significant departure from the largely instrumental music of the El Michels Affair catalog with a roster of vocal features that manages to mirror the undefinable genre of his music. The first one on the album is “Mágica” which features Brazil’s Rogê. He takes the already pumping energy of the track over the top with his fútbol inspired lyrics. Moving from Brazil to Ghana, “Say Goodbye” features Florence Adooni who touts her individuality with an effortless swag jumping between Frafra and English, telling it like it is in the earworm chorus, “never gonna find a girl like me…”. Labelmate and world renowned trumpeter from The Roots, Dave Guy joins the ‘70s groove of “Oakley’s Car Wash” with his distinct horn lines before the track switches lanes, closing with a dubby outro. From raucous to serene, “Anticipate” featuring Clairo picks up on the musical synergy between her and Leon that created 2024’s Charm album. Clairo rides signature EMA arrangements perfectly as she pines for an unattainable love over the band’s airtight instrumentation. “Eastside” is a song that could soundtrack a sunrise over the ocean, putting Leon’s tasteful use of space and arrangement on a pedestal. By way of Japan, The Suginami Children’s Choir join in on the lush “Clean The Line” singing a song about the moon, the sun, and birds. Next, “Cortex” kicks in the door with gritty distorted guitars and thundering drums that puts a moment of pure cinematic intensity in the middle of the album. Leon himself handles lead vocals on “Shining,” a song about looking for a friend to share the joys of a sunny day with. The universally adored Shintaro Sakamoto is featured on “Indifference”, a swanky tune built on bouncing basslines and flute chops. Shintaro uses the arrangements to go from singing to speaking, musing over a fleeting love. The Grammy winning duo of Norah Jones and Michels reunite on “Carry Me Away” with Jones' honeyed vocals soaring over a track that is hard to place but easy to love. Leon leans into El Michels Affair territory on the tune that sounds decidedly different from the Norah Jones records he has produced. “Take My Hand” puts gospel influence front and center with the Fabulous Rainbow Singers choir on the chorus and a saxophone solo from the late great Rahsaan Roland Kirk. “Open Season”, a mid tempo, piano driven number with group vocals chanting “we want the gold, we want the gold…” could soundtrack a slow motion highlight reel, while the aptly titled album closer “Victory Lap” is a dreamy euphoric wind-down worthy of the record that just finished. When all is said and done, the trophy on the cover of the album speaks volumes. El Michels Affair is champion sound and 24 Hr Sports hammers that home.

Enjoy The Ride Records and Enjoy The Toons Records, in partnership with WaterTower Music, proudly present the limited edition vinyl release of A Minecraft Movie (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), featuring an electrifying lineup of original songs and a dynamic score by Grammy- and Emmy-winning composer Mark Mothersbaugh.

Leading the soundtrack is the high-energy anthem “I Feel Alive,” written and produced by Jack Black, Mark Ronson, and Andrew Wyatt. Jack Black delivers powerhouse lead vocals with Danielle Brooks backing him up, with Mark Ronson on Bass, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl on drums, Queen of the Stone Age’s Troy Van Leeuwen on guitar and Roger Manning on synthesizer. The song made its debut on March 19, when Black premiered it live on Twitch, filming an impromptu music video in front of an audience of over 250,000 fans.

Reflecting on the collaboration, Black shared, “It was a thrill to collaborate with legendary songwriters Ronson and Wyatt on the final song!”

Ronson and Wyatt also praised Black’s artistry, stating: “Jack Black possesses one of the greatest voices in all of modern recorded music. From Tenacious D’s debut album to his matchless interpretation of ‘Hanukkah O Hanukkah,’ his voice electrifies the soul and the eardrums. When he first approached us at the Golden Globes in 2023, he told Andrew and I that he had been singing our song ‘I’m Just Ken’ in his head all day—the greatest compliment we could have received. Andrew and I had an incredible experience writing this song with him, and it's one we could have only created with this extraordinary man for this wonderful film. We hope you rock the f**k out to it.”

Beyond “I Feel Alive,” Black contributes to three additional songs that capture key comedic moments in the film. “We had a blast peppering the movie with little musical nuggets throughout our journey,” he explained. “Me and Jared (Hess) went back and forth about song ideas in the weeks prior to shooting, and I’d send him little voice memos. We’d laugh our butts off and shape them to fit perfectly in the film.”

The soundtrack also features: Benee performing “Zero to Hero,” written by Bret McKenzie. A longtime fan of both Minecraft and Black, Benee expressed her excitement: “I’m so excited to be involved in this project. I’ve been a Minecrafter for years, as well as a huge fan of Jack Black. Working with Bret McKenzie has been amazing. He is a musical genius. We met a couple of years ago in New Zealand, and it’s been awesome to finally collaborate with him. I can’t wait to see the final version of the movie!”

Multi-platinum artist Dayglow, a dedicated Minecraft fan, contributes the indie-pop track “Change Song.” He shared, “Ever since I was 10, I’ve loved Minecraft. It’s one of the most creativity-inspiring games ever, so to be a part of its legacy is so awesome. I’m so honored! I hope to inspire people to keep having fun and use their imagination.”

Rock band Dirty Honey’s song “When I’m Gone” embodies Jason Momoa’s character, Garett “The Garbage Man” Garrison. Lead singer Marc LaBelle, who has some history with Black working on the show “Drunk History,” remarked: “To find out that our music would be featured in A Minecraft Movie —alongside two of Hollywood’s biggest rock ‘n’ roll ambassadors, Jack Black and Jason Momoa—is not only an exciting opportunity to introduce Dirty Honey to a whole new generation of fans, but also a full-circle moment for me and my time here in L.A.”

Rounding out the soundtrack is a score by the legendary Mark Mothersbaugh, who seamlessly blends original compositions with tasteful nods to the iconic music featured in Minecraft the game by C418. Mothersbaugh explained: “A Minecraft Movie presented a unique challenge in creating a score that balanced quirky characters with the intense action sequences. The music needed to capture the charm of the characters while also driving the high-energy moments. This required a thoughtful approach to ensure the score not only complemented the film’s action but also added depth and emotional resonance, making it a vital part of the story.”

A Minecraft Movie (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is pressed on 2xLP limited edition purple colored vinyl. Housed in a gatefold jacket, it also includes 12" x 12" double-sided full-color insert featuring art from the film.
