The Mexican producer and musician returns with his second two-track edit excursion into the world of rare cover versions from Mexico. His work for the TSTD series combines meticulous cut-and-paste craftsmanship with a preference for fresh, little-known source material.

On side A, “Solo Tu Y Yo” delivers a slow disco edit of an extremely rare late-’70s Mexican cover version of the Bill Withers classic “Just The Two Of Us.” Side B, “Junto A Ti,” is a mid-tempo reworking of a Mexican take on “Upside Down” (Diana Ross with Nile Rodgers), putting the focus on pronounced rhythmic drive and condensed vocal arrangements. Sekouba Bambino’s ‘Sebema’ first time on vinyl (previously CD / cassette only) with edit treatment from frequent collaborators Pete Blaker & Dionisos on the A-side and the original on the flip.

Originally released in 2004 by the Guinean multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, this cut was taken from his Ambiance Ballon album. Real name Sékouba Diabaté, he was previously a member of Bembeya Jazz National, who are regarded as one of the most significant jazz groups to emerge from Guinea as well as joining Africando All Stars in the late 90’s. Bambino went on to pursue a solo career and released projects throughout the early 2000’s on Syllart Productions.

The edit by Pete Blaker and Dionisos overdubs sound effects, additional percussion and guitar licks to build tension throughout the track and emphasises that hypnotic chorus.

Influential UK Jazz/Funk/Disco outfit THE Cool-notes' biggest hit 'Spend The Night', originally released in 1985, is back on Dafia Records with a set of brand new, never before released remixes by French Disco icon Dimitri From Paris.

The original, which reached #11 in the UK Top 40 in the Spring of 1985, is regarded as a mid-tempo UK classic by many since its first appearance. Known for his luxurious, groove-driven productions and remixes, Dimitri From Paris has reworked tracks for artists including Björk, Quincy Jones, Chic and New Order, while helping define the sound of modern disco and house music in a way only he can.

When he got the chance by Dafia label head Mannix to get his hands on the original multitrack tapes, he didn't hesitate to deliver two classic DFP revisions in the making. His Main version leaves all the essential elements of the timeless Original, highlights the parts that have deserved more exposure whilst adding crisp beats and nice effects to the game. The result is a greatly updated version that surely will have many fans within the Soul/Funk/Disco scene.

A deep cut from the extensive back catalogue of South African group Splash, significant artists in the narrative of the country’s fiercely independent Gallo Record Company, Cwpt presents two uplifting mixes of 1990’s ‘An Eye For An Eye’, arranged by a modern day hero of the craft, Lipelis.

Originally released in parallel with the official beginning of the end of South Africa’s decades-long Apartheid, lead vocalist Daniel Tshanda dispels the philosophy of the track’s title, instead offering a still poignant call for unity; “An eye for an eye is no good… Let’s live together as one.”

Lipelis’s carefully crafted take retains this sentiment front and centre, while nudging the arrangement toward contemporary dancefloors, enriching a steady and bubbling mix of colourful keys, bubblegum percussion and a lifting backing chorus that includes another Gallo sensation, Dalom Kids.

These same voices form the spiritual centre of Lipelis’s 12” dub version, which further demonstrates the track’s irresistible rhythm, making space for complimentary piano melodies from Lipelis, alongside collaborator Eugene Piankov. Norman Gervais and Charles Bals return after last year’s Transcoastal compilation with their first project for the Italian label Periodica Records and its newly founded imprint, Periodica International. The concept behind SiRENE 89 is quite particular and took six years to develop. It is presented as the live recording of one long evening, with different bands taking the stage one after another on the terrace of a Mediterranean holiday resort in 1989, inspired by the places Charles and Norm remember from their summer holidays around that time. The songs were recorded between 1982 and 1993 and gathered from small-time artists, beach-club vagabonds, local micro-labels, library records and privately released tapes. The music moves lightly between mystical ballads, digital samba and loose, sunburnt dance songs, carried by drum machines, not-quite-tuned guitars and college-band voices. The audience on the terrace remains quietly present throughout, joining the tracks into one continuous, partly improvised set. By the end, it feels less like a compilation and more like a place where you have spent the night, proving that charm can carry further than perfection.

The starting point for “Fairlight” was the purchase of a Yamaha DX1; a preset sound found there called Fairlight sparked the initial idea. From this came the desire to develop an Italo-wave-inspired approach that feels contemporary while referencing the characteristics of early electronic music. The compositions are less bound to the repetition-based structures of classic dance music and instead unfold in a narrative way, allowing melodies and harmonic progressions room to develop.

Musically, Dea combines baroque harmonic ideas—such as chromatically ascending progressions and careful voice leading—with playful bubblegum synth lines that lend the sound color and lightness. The result is a tension between nostalgia and experiment; vintage synthesizers meet a stylistic language that puts movement, surprise, and the idea of a musical journey at the center. Released on Forest Jams, the “Inspiration From E2-E4” 12" by Sugar Plant and Dub Squad brings together two long, detail-rich tracks from the orbit of the early-2000s compilation “Inspiration from E2-E4” as a 45 RPM reissue. With this 12", Forest Jams puts the cosmic, disco-inflected, edit-oriented material back on vinyl and emphasizes the clear, warm arrangements on both sides.

On the A-side, Sugar Plant delivers “Just Be There,” a home-studio rendition built from a looped two-chord electric piano figure, carefully executed filter sweeps, and a bass track that began as a guitar recording and was then turned into an analog-sounding synth foundation (Doepfer MS-404). Layered synths, a guitar solo that doesn’t appear until late in the track, and spontaneous vocal takes recorded in a hallway create the nocturnal, deep house-adjacent mood Shin’ichi Ogawa was aiming for.

The B-side features Dub Squad with “E.D.E.N.,” a deliberately restrained piece built around a bell/gong motif (presumably a Yamaha DX-7), an SH-101 bassline, Juno-106 pads, MS-404 sequences, and sampler effects. “E.D.E.N.” later made its way onto the soundtrack of the feature film “Ping Pong” (2002), thereby reaching a wider audience. Forest Jams presents both cuts in a precise 45 RPM pressing, highlighting the production details and instrumentation of the original recordings.

It’s Italian time! Sam Ruffillo is back. Sicilian producer doing smooth Balearic disco with Italian vocals. The direction is clear: Sam Ruffillo’s music brings us back into the Italian riviera and the hippy days of Ibiza in the late 1970ies. Even his way of production is similar to how the early days disco producers in Italia used to work: No samples needed. Instead a few guest musicians come to jam over Sam’s beats in his Italian studio space. Guitar, bass, percussions. Sam later makes the production and added keyboard solos and put together the vibes into what is this new EP. The girl voice comes from Ninfa. It’s the classic studio story: Ninfa is a singer and DJ and friend of Sam. She was hanging at the studio while Sam was finishing these tracks. She stated to sing along… the words came up spontaneously… so they decided to record her and finally decided to keep them. The vibe was too good. Why talk English if u can do it better: in Italian! :) This is second for Toy Tonics after his Sport House EP from last year. Sam also appeared on the solo record of Joel Holmes on Toy Tonics. Together with Kapote Modica he co-produced and made the beats on that record. Now Sam is back with this pure Italian EP. The record presents the original mix, never before released on vinyl, in a freshly restored and newly remastered version sourced from the ½‑inch master tapes. In this way, a long-lost chapter of Italian electronic music gains new presence.

Francisco D'Argento stands for a sun-drenched, finely balanced Italo disco sound that captures the atmosphere of the late seventies and early eighties with effortless elegance. The original mix is an uptempo, hi-NRG, straight-up Italo cut, carried by D'Argento’s own vocals and the warm intonation of his second wife, actress and model Eleanora D'Argento. Despite recognition in the local press, his music has so far remained hidden from a wider audience; this release now restores it both historically and sonically.

The remixes round out the package with distinct takes: Donald Dust delivers the "Squish Mix," a powerful, hard-hitting rework aimed at late, heavy club nights. The "Nello Spazio Mix" by Dr Valentine lowers the tempo and opens up hypnotic, cosmic spaces. When Henry Street & Sacred Rhythm Music join forces for a remix outing, it should be obvious the source material and resulting productions are of the utmost caliber. This record proves such a case in point: Johnny "D" DeMairo & Joe Claussell team up for two takes on Candi Staton’s 1979 disco opus 'When You Wake Up Tomorrow.’ The original, whose pedigree could be inferred simply by reading Patrick Adams’ and Jimmy Simpson’s names on the label, is a faultless dance floor cut featuring all the elements you’d expect—lavish horn and string arrangements, sparkling synthesizer accents, and plenty of hand-beat drumming—along with with Staton’s peerless voice. Johnny D’s mix starts carefully, the vocal refrain accented with auxiliary percussion until the rug is pulled out from under us, the ensuing chasm making the following thrust of the track that much more powerful. On the flip. Claussell’s take starts with reinforced four-on-the-floor, along with a studio count-in, perhaps alluding back to his previous ‘It Seems To Hang On’ edit. As the track establishes itself, ample room is afforded for interplay between bass and guitar, with all the interlacing elements aggrandizing the mood with careful shots of delay and expertly-timed pivots in atmosphere. Both sides are proof of what shouldn’t need evidence: two masters of their craft assembling two wholly new mixes that far surpass the banal copy and paste, add and subtract methodology slung by the less blessed. Pressed on white vinyl, with a custom jacket to boot.

Limited repress on yellow vinyl. A bootleg experiment that got out of hand, Oden & Fatzo’s Radio 1 A-listed single is the accidental hit that everyone is talking about. So how do you go about making an ‘accidental hit’, by accident of course... The track came about when French DJ Fatzo tried to demonstrate the difference between an edit and a remix to his dad, “... I took a song from the band Men I Trust, sped it up and added a drum beat and violin. After playing it to Oden, they loved it, and in turn, added their secret ingredients.” Unlike the name might suggest, Oden & Fatzo consists of three people: The Parisian underground collective are a powerful fusion of the electronic live duo Oden, and house DJ Fatzo. Back in 2020 a bootleg version of ‘Lauren’ was uploaded to the YouTube channel of the electronic label Novaj, kicking off an unforeseeable wave of enthusiasm. That video is now approaching 3 million views. Enthralled listeners begged for a commercial release, a year later Ministry of Sound/B1 cleared the sample and the track started its march across the airwaves and up the charts. With its captivating beat and nostalgic catchiness, ‘Lauren’ makes up for the party nights lost to the pandemic lockdowns, and sees people dancing in their homes and on the streets, as concerts, parties, and live sets are finally making a return. As the trio put it: “This song was all about hope, freedom and a party atmosphere at a time when you couldn't go anywhere. We think it gave everyone who heard it a little bit of an escape, including us.” Meanwhile in the UK, the track has seen early support, not only by names like Franky Wah, Danny Howard, Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Jax Jones, Jodie Harsh, Hugel, Bakermat, Cut Snake, Salomé Le Chat, Piem, David Gausa and many more, but also by the incredibly ecstatic party crowds.

The “Invisible Escape / Greatest Treasure” double LP by Fuga Ronto is released on Phantom Island and for the first time brings both albums together in a compact anniversary edition. In this 10 Years Jubilee Edition, the release combines the 2016 album “Invisible Escape” and 2021’s “Greatest Treasure,” marking the first chapter of the band’s history ten years after the project was first introduced by Tobias Schweizer and Ron Shiller.

The compilation documents Fuga Ronto’s characteristic blend of Balearic moods, cosmic aesthetics, synth-driven pop, dub elements, and subtly disco reminiscences. Selected tracks have been remastered, preserving the warmth and character of the original productions while achieving greater sonic definition. This editorial sequencing makes it possible to follow the musical handwriting of the two records in one continuous flow.

The edition is complemented by two previously unreleased tracks from the original sessions, “One Thing Leads To Another” and “Deconstruction Again,” as well as an exclusive dub version of “Greatest Treasure.” A printed insert with archival studio photos rounds out the package on Phantom Island and turns the double LP into a documentary look at the first ten years of Fuga Ronto.

Berlin lo-fi crooner Der Assistent returns with "Ultramarin", a sun-faded suite of soft-focus pop, Balearic grooves and late-night yacht moods drifting between languages, moods and references – slightly surreal, and quietly melancholic. Following the tropical haze of its predecessor "Amnesie am Amazonas", his third album makes a slightly bigger splash: classic late-80s digital pianos, downbeat grooves and flashes of dub-reggae intertwine with subtle soprano and alto saxophone lines that drift between lounge melancholy and nocturnal jazz. Laid-back opening cut “Wenn der Scirocco weht” pays homage to Japanese lovers rock, while the dubby downbeat title track celebrates the color blue in French, English, Italian and German, echoing situationist slogans and painter Yves Klein’s idea of “the invisible becoming visible.” Lead single “Mann am Telefon” dives into hazy yacht-pop and lo-fi soul, gradually unfolding into an instrumental outro that recalls the early synth romanticism of Vangelis. Across the album, Der Assistent traces a playful tale of split personalities – with subtle nods to Fight Club and Blade Runner – culminating in the lush closing 80s R&B ballad “Total Confusion”.

The 12" release "Rising Star / Deep Song" brings together two rare recordings from producer Richard Hewson’s archives and is released on Rush Hour. The record reveals early stages of Hewson’s studio work and shines a light on seldom-heard variations of his later project, The RAH Band.

"Rising Star (Cosmix)" began in 1984 as a vocal single with Debbie Sharp; Hewson transformed the original into a percussive, cosmic disco take he aptly titled "Cosmix." For this new version, he made targeted use of his newly acquired Bel delay effect unit, which at the time enabled key experiments in his home studio and shaped the track with echo and spatial textures. This version emphasizes rhythmic layering and a playful handling of delay effects.

"Deep Song" goes back even further, to the late‑seventies phase of Richard Hewson Orchestra productions, and forms the creative blueprint from which The RAH Band would later emerge. Hewson wrote, produced, and assembled the basic track at home before adding strings and vocals on top; the composition was strongly influenced by his admiration for Miles Davis’s "Kind of Blue" and was originally released in 1979 as a B-side under an enigmatic alias.
