The “No. 9997” 12-inch by STABLO was released in 2011 and presents two concise, untitled tracks that were issued exclusively on vinyl. The release was announced as a strictly limited pressing and came without a digital release; upon its initial distribution, customers were limited to a maximum of one copy each. A Japan-exclusive limited-edition repress followed later, making the record available again in a tightly restricted quantity.

Musically, “No. 9997” operates within the realm of Dub Techno, relying on spacious, echo-drenched textures and pared-down, loop-based rhythms arranged in dense layers. The two sides keep the material short and focused, with tempos of approximately 122 and 124 BPM, respectively, and use bass and delay elements sparingly to give the tracks their weighty subtlety. The release underscores the STABLO label’s stripped-back aesthetic, geared toward DJ use and vinyl playability, and fits into its catalog of concise, club-ready Dub Techno 12-inch releases. For fans of dark, forward-driving studio sketches, the “No. 9997” 12-inch remains a concise addition to the STABLO catalog.

The “Oblique” double LP by Ghost Dubs is released on Pressure and marks producer Michael Fiedler’s second album. On “Oblique,” Ghost Dubs showcases a denser, more cinematic sound design: deep low-end pressure, fragmentary rhythms, and blurred melodies generate a focused yet open-ended tension. Opener “Low Times” sets the tonal framework and has already appeared as a single with two remixes by The Bug, establishing an early tension between minimal force and carefully placed delay.

The LP features twelve tracks, including “Cold Data,” “Soft Collapse,” and “Bombed Suburbs,” the latter introducing melodic motifs reminiscent of Augustus Pablo, suspended in slowed-down grooves. “Almost a Structure” closes the album, with rhythmic elements dissolving into pure atmosphere. Ghost Dubs works with sparse percussion, targeted use of delay, and an emphasis on sub-bass, allowing the tracks to retain their presence despite stripped-back arrangements.

The “Oblique” double LP on Pressure offers a tight fusion of dancehall and dub aesthetics, rendered in a modern, dark sonic palette. Ghost Dubs succeeds in varying familiar dub references while further sharpening his own signature.

The “Exile” LP by Chronixx is released on Forever Living Originals and places the singer in a direct line with contemporary roots and soul aesthetics: the record combines live-sounding rhythm sections with warm vocal leads and a clear narrative density that repeatedly points to identity, family, and community. The album was produced by Inflo, whose clear production approach here connects classic roots textures with soulful arrangements and occasional experimentation, allowing Chronixx’s vocals to range widely between intimacy and determination.

The double LP comprises 17 tracks, including standout titles such as “Hurricane,” “Genesis,” and “Resilient,” which present the album as a cohesive collection in which extended developments and expansive instrumental passages are given room to unfold. Forever Living Originals presents “Exile” as a statement that keeps the roots of Jamaican music in clear view while at the same time opening its perspective beyond genre boundaries; the arrangements leave space for horns, guitars, and restrained dub elements, while Chronixx’s lyricism repeatedly centers on uprising and perseverance. This orientation makes the “Exile” LP a distinctive chapter in Chronixx’s discography and an audibly carefully produced release on Forever Living Originals.

The “Serious Thing (Photo / Photo Card)” LP by Horace Andy is released on the Gorgon label and collects the well-known take on the track “Serious Thing” in a physical long-playing edition. The record puts this classic song center stage and highlights Horace Andy as one of the defining voices of reggae.

Horace Andy is distinguished by a unique, lightly vibrato-tinged tenor and a sparse yet powerful phrasing style that makes his tunes instantly recognizable. Musically, the material ranges from roots reggae to more intricate dub arrangements; calmer passages alternate with subtly arranged horn and effects textures, placing particular emphasis on the melodic line. The name Horace Andy stands for a long career and numerous collaborations that have carried his voice into a wide variety of contexts.

The creation of “Serious Thing” is part of a production history that spans both Bunny Lee productions from the 1970s and later versions from the Wackie’s/Bullwackies circle; in addition, an instrumental or dub side under the title “A Serious Version” has been documented. These different productions account for the many documented versions of the track and underscore its importance within Horace Andy’s repertoire.

The "Cuts & Dubs Volume 1" LP by Mad Professor is released on Test Pressing and brings together a tightly curated selection from the Ariwa archive, with a clear focus on dub and roots styles.

The compilation pulls together twelve tracks from across the label’s catalog, showcasing a stylistic range from dub and lovers rock through to digital dancehall, with every cut given the signature Ariwa sound by Mad Professor at the mixing desk. Ariwa began as a small living-room studio in Thornton Heath and over more than four decades evolved into a center of British reggae and dub production with hundreds of releases; Mad Professor’s Dub Me Crazy series and his extensive work as a producer have been decisive in shaping the label’s reputation.

Alongside instrumental dub sketches such as "Dub Sampler," "H2SO4," "Disco Dude" and "Kathmandu Dub," the record also features standout collaborations: the meeting with Jah Shaka on "O*** One God" is regarded as a key piece, the Ariwa house band Robotics appears with "Hong Kong Flew!" and "Miss Mood," and Aisha closes the album with "Can You Feel It." The selection is rounded out by contributions from Starky Banton, Ragga Doll, Professor Doppler and Earl Lawrence; the sleeve design was created by Trevor Jackson.

Fourteenth release on In The Dark Again, limited to 100 copies. Sebastian Swarm opens with the anthem “Tomb Of Ligeia”, followed by Heinrich Dressel's melancholic “Elka Snow Cat” and a deep, bleepy electro cut from Konerytmi. The B-side features Be Dellow, a project by Violet Poison, with the brooding “Ruined Horizons”, before Igors Vorobjovs closes the record with his sci-fi electro sound.

Dialog’s “Symbol Of The Land” LP is released on Kynant and marks the duo’s move toward a deliberately beat-driven full-length, expanding their previously ambient and dub-oriented approaches into more strongly rhythm-focused arrangements. Dialog, the production and performance project of Helsinki-based Samuel van Dijk and Rasmus Hedlund, combines dub techno aesthetics with a collaborative working method; on “Symbol Of The Land,” this openness to voices and rhythmic traditions becomes a principle that shapes the album’s structure.

The album documents a period of intensive exchange and brings the duo’s studio and live experience into a new balance: precisely placed drums and modulated bass textures merge with spatial processing and occasional vocal interjections, elements already heard in earlier Dialog projects. The production emphasizes textural depth and spatial movement without abandoning dub’s characteristic delay and filtering strategies; instead, these are integrated into functional grooves that open up both club and listening spaces. “Symbol Of The Land” on Kynant reflects Dialog’s intention to translate dubwise sound design into a collaborative, globally oriented album format.

Produced by Supermax-frontman Kurt Hauenstein. Originally released in 1987. We are proud to re-release this super rare 7” that proves, once and for all, that Austrians can excel at digi-dub. Timelessly tropical and beautifully bouncy, its vibe is quite different from the iconic Supermax productions. Here, Judy and Nicola’s sweet yet confident vocals replace the moustache-driven sotto voce singing that we love Supermax for. The result is oh-so-catchy and bound to be a hit.

The “Leave Babylon” 12" by Yehoud I and Odessa, released on Skank O'clock, presents two core pieces alongside their dub versions: the vocal cut “Leave Babylon” and the companion track “Bald Head,” each complemented by an instrumental dub variant. This release focuses on a roots & culture aesthetic and offers the conceptual pairing of vocals and stripped-down studio texture that characterizes contemporary dub releases in Europe.

Songwriting and production duties are handled by Odessa (J. Litzky), with Yehoud I credited as vocalist (D. Levy); Odessa is also responsible for mixing and overall production. Mastering was carried out by Precise Mastering, and distribution is handled by Dub Livity. With this 12", Skank O'clock delivers a clear studio version in which the dub-style work with space, effects, and bass frequencies punctually supports Yehoud I’s vocal lead and takes center stage on the dub cuts. The combination of distinctive vocals, tightly guided rhythm, and elaborated dub arrangement turns the release into a compact reference point for the modern roots take on offer at Skank O'clock. Fans of authentic dub output will find both the song-oriented versions and the instrumental treatments gathered here in a focused selection.

The *Tribal Inna Yard* LP by Freddy McKay is released on Thompson Sound as a vinyl reissue of the album originally released in 1983. The album was recorded at Channel One Recording Studio in Kingston, where McKay was backed by the Roots Radics.

Together with engineers Crucial Bunny, Tom Tom, and Scientist, producer Linval Thompson shaped a deeply rooted roots reggae sound that already touches on the early dancehall era. The Roots Radics’ slow, enduring rhythms give McKay’s compelling voice room to breathe, while tracks like “Tribal Inna Yard” create a tense, hypnotic atmosphere between spiritual reflection and social unrest.

Freddy McKay wrote all of the album’s songs himself. In addition to the title track, *Tribal Inna Yard* includes “Father Will Cut You Off,” “Come We Go Reason Now,” “The Message,” “Youths Of Today,” and “Lonely Man,” among others. The release combines personal themes with conscious, socially focused lyrics, bringing McKay’s distinctive vocal delivery together with the precise rhythmic work of the Roots Radics. Thompson Sound presents the album once again as an LP with the complete nine-track sequence.

Originally released in Japan in the early 1990s, "Make Me Know It" offers a glimpse into a moment when reggae and lovers rock were taking root in unexpected places. The record pairs Chieko Beauty's understated vocal style with Miyazaki Izumi aka Dub Master X's production, resulting in a sound that feels equally informed by Jamaican traditions and Tokyo's rapidly expanding musical landscape. Built around a subtle interpolation of Manuel Göttsching's E2-e4 – already immortalised by Sueño Latino – the record brings together musical traditions that, on paper at least, have little reason to meet. Chieko Beauty would go on to become one of the defining voices of Japanese reggae, collaborating with artists including Mad Professor, Yann Tomita and Emerson Kitamura. This 7" revisits an early chapter in that story.

The “Danger” 7" by Uniques is released on Roots Vibration and brings Al Campbell’s lead vocals to the forefront. Recorded by Winston “Niney” Holness in a cool, digital production style, it presents the title track as a powerful, vocal-centered version set against a heavy dub cut on the flip. Originally released in 1998, the single focuses on concise riddim arrangements and leaves space for Campbell’s distinctive take, without losing sight of the rhythmic directness of reggae/dancehall.

Musically, “Danger” relies on stripped-down instrumentation and a pronounced bass foundation that keeps Campbell’s melodies clearly defined; the dub version expands the single with deep echo and spatial effects that pull the track down into a lowered sonic plane. With this 7", Roots Vibration delivers a purposefully crafted release that highlights both the Uniques’ vocal presence and Winston “Niney” Holness’s sensitivity for rhythmic refinement, creating a bridge between classic roots feeling and contemporary digital production.

The “Jah Jah Warn Them” 7" by Augustus Thomas is released on Roots Vibration and delivers a rare, deep roots cut that stands out for its direct message and tight, focused arrangement. Augustus Thomas weaves vocals and message into an urgent admonition; the lyrics address listeners with a powerful yet personal warning without ever becoming overbearing.

Musically, “Jah Jah Warn Them” rests on a heavy bass foundation that carries the rhythm and gives the track a compact, weighty gravity. On top of this base, backing vocals add accented, almost liturgical-sounding voices that heighten the piece’s spiritual intensity and support the melodic line. The production focuses on clear melodic lines and stripped-down instrumentation, allowing every vocal inflection and each bass phrase to carry more weight. On this 7" single, Augustus Thomas shows his knack for building tension and his ability to deliver a dense, atmospheric statement within a short running time; its release on Roots Vibration makes the single a remarkable contribution to contemporary reggae and dancehall releases.

The “Struggler In The Ghetto” 7" by Rainbow is released on Roots Vibration and brings a roots single originally issued in 1990 back into focus. Rainbow is the pseudonym of Rohan Lee; the track was recorded at Channel One and mixed at Aquarius Studios, a production chain that shapes the warm, organic sound of the recording. The A-side documents a compelling take on social issues that, at the time of its original release, met with considerable approval on Jamaican radio stations.

The reissue on Roots Vibration includes a version of the track on the B-side, thus presenting the classic single format in full. Five years after the original release, the band broke up, and additional recordings made at the Channel One studio were lost. Rohan Lee lived in Belgium for an extended period and worked there with local backing ensembles, resulting in several roots albums with European involvement in later years. This 7" on Roots Vibration makes the rare early recording available again and brings a part of the early career of Rainbow, aka Rohan Lee, into focus without making any claims regarding other editions or catalog details.

The “World A Music” 12" released on Taxi presents the title track in an extended vocal version and represents an early collaboration between the singer and producer duo Sly & Robbie, who feature prominently on the A-side. The release documents Ini Kamoze’s characteristic voice over a distinctly played riddim and places the vocal version in a clear, groove-focused context, typical of Taxi productions of that era.

On the B-side, “Out In The Street Dub” offers a fully realized dub version that puts Sly & Robbie center stage as arrangers and dub architects, consistently developing the track’s rhythmic foundation. This combination of extended vocal mix and instrumental, dub-conscious reworking makes the 12" a documented example of the link between vocals and dub aesthetics within the Taxi universe. The underlying riddim of “World A Music” later gained additional recognition as the basis for subsequent productions and homages in the reggae scene.

The LP "In Lieu" by Gi Gi is being released on Mood Hut and presents a precisely calibrated evolution of his previously free-flowing sound. Here, Gi Gi weaves fragments of sampling, dub, and shoegaze into compositions that oscillate between drift and forward momentum; the production is clearly geared toward tension: rhythm with restraint, atmosphere with structure.

The recordings were made partly in Texas and partly in Australia, which leaves its mark not only geographically but internally as well: the material feels more focused, the percussion shows greater assertiveness, and the bass organizes the space instead of dissolving into the background. Tracks like "Some Of" and "Arque" lean into substantial depth, "Pink Dirt" works with mechanical drums and kaleidoscopic vocal snippets, while on "Downswept" voices gain new contours and, over the title sequence, almost coalesce into a leading line before being dissolved again.

For scene insiders, Gi Gi’s own description “dubwise sampledelia” still holds: a process that destabilizes source material until it refers only to itself. His DJ sets reflect the same sensibility, treating weight, ambience, and transitions with equal patience. The release slots into an international practice that has already connected Gi Gi via labels such as Good Morning Tapes, Quiet Time, and INDEX:Records, as well as through radio platforms and club appearances.

The “CRACK IN THE WALL” 7" by O.B.F & Pupajim was released on Dubquake as a limited vinyl edition and delivers a punchy dub take on in a compact single-length format, with clear, lead-focused vocals. O.B.F brings the characteristic sound system aesthetic to the forefront, while Pupajim takes over lead vocals and carries the song lyrically.

The 7" features the main track “CRACK IN THE WALL” on the A-side, with the instrumental dub version on the B-side. Musically, the release combines classic dub elements with modern production approaches: Rico O.B.F is responsible for composition and mixing, Joker Kapsize handled the mastering, and Simon Rascat contributed programming and additional mixing. This lineup creates a dense low-end foundation and detailed effects work that still leaves the track room to breathe.

Lyrically, “CRACK IN THE WALL” centers on themes of hope and resistance, which Pupajim delivers with a distinctive tone and precise phrasing. The collaboration between O.B.F & Pupajim on Dubquake fits seamlessly into the label’s current output and, with this single, offers a focused release tailored to sound system culture that works equally well in DJ selections and on your home setup.

The “Danger in My Eyes” 7" by Joe Yorke and O.B.F was released on Dubquake and is offered as a limited pink 7" vinyl edition. On the A-side, Joe Yorke is at the forefront, with his voice appearing here in a comparatively lower register; his vocals remain melodic and tie into a classic rocksteady melody that is reimagined in this version. O.B.F is responsible for the production and brings the rhythmic foundation together in a clear and powerful way.

The B-side features the instrumental take on “Danger Dub,” which transforms the original theme into a dense, dark dub version and employs typical production techniques such as heavy echo, reduced bass frequencies, and spatial effects. In addition to Joe Yorke and O.B.F, the release shows compositional references to older Studio One arrangements; at the same time, the execution remains modern and sound system-oriented. The “Danger in My Eyes” 7" by Joe Yorke and O.B.F on Dubquake thus offers both the vocal side and a distinctive dub version, adding a carefully produced single release to the label’s ongoing series.

The compilation “Soul Revivers In The Vaults Of Hit Sound Vol. 1” is released on Acid Jazz and focuses on the early productions of Jamaican singer and producer U Brown. The Soul Revivers project is headed by David Hill, who selected recordings from Brown’s Hit Sound and Tanker circles for this collection. At its heart is roots reggae that already hints at the dancehall structures that would emerge later.

Huford Brown, known by his stage name U Brown, belonged to a new generation of Jamaican reggae MCs in the late 1970s. His work took him to venues and studios including Channel One and King Tubby’s, while he was also releasing his own productions through Hit Sound. “Soul Revivers In The Vaults Of Hit Sound Vol. 1” presents these works together on vinyl for the first time and also highlights previously unknown dubplate mixes by Al Campbell, including two versions of “Give The People.”

Alongside Al Campbell, the compilation features Delroy Wilson, Vincent Taylor, U Brown, Crucial Bunny, Bobby Ellis and Deadly Headley, as well as Carlton Livingstone. Delroy Wilson contributes two rare 12-inch recordings, while Bobby Ellis and Deadly Headley appear with an instrumental track. Carlton Livingstone’s “Hey Mr. Dee Jay” already points toward the development of dancehall. The Acid Jazz LP thus brings together soulful roots recordings, dubplate culture and early dancehall influences in a historically focused selection.

The long-overdue revival of Bim Sherman’s catalog begins here. These essential recordings will become widely available again for the first time in decades, opening a new chapter in the appreciation of one of Jamaica’s most distinctive voices and representing a major moment for reggae and dub aficionados around the world. This reissue series will not only preserve his legacy but will also offer listeners the chance to experience the depth and timeless resonance of Sherman’s work in its full glory. Bim Sherman—born Jarret Lloyd Vincent, in Westmoreland, Jamaica—holds a unique place in reggae history. Emerging in the mid 70s, his ethereal, haunting vocal style quickly set him apart from his contemporaries. He was soon collaborating with the top producers and musicians of the era, including Adrian Sherwood and the On-U Sound collective, bridging the gap between roots reggae and experimental dub and laying the groundwork for the fusion of Jamaican sounds with the vibrant underground scene in the UK. His career, from Kingston to London to Mumbai, was marked by an artistic daring and spiritual intensity that has earned him enduring respect across generations. The centerpiece of this reissue campaign is Ghetto Dub from 1988, a record that distills Sherman’s artistry into its most potent form. Originally released in a limited number, the album embodies the stark yet soulful beauty of dub production. With its reverb-drenched drums, cavernous basslines, and echo-laden atmospherics, Ghetto Dub transforms Sherman’s various tracks into spectral presences that drift in and out of the mix. The arrangement and production—minimal yet profoundly textured—captures both the raw urgency of Jamaican street culture and the forward-looking experimentation of the UK dub scene. Each track unfolds like a meditation, balancing grit with grace, density with space. Ghetto Dub is more than an album; it is an immersive soundscape that reaffirms Bim Sherman as one of reggae’s most otherworldly and visionary figures.

The “Signs Of The Time” LP by Azizzi Romeo Meets Guiding Star Orchestra, released on Recall Reality, combines immersive, roots-influenced dub reggae from Jamaica with the powerful instrumentation of an eleven-piece Danish band. The arrangements rely on warm analog sounds, lush horn parts, rolling bass lines, as well as the band’s characteristic tape saturation and spring reverb, allowing the tracks to breathe within expansive, dub-infused spaces. The production and mix focus on organic gravitas rather than rigid digital presets; every melodic motif and delay functions as an integral part of the song structure.

With sharpened spiritual urgency and purposeful lyrics, Azizzi Romeo carries the main vocal weight. On the title track, “Signs Of The Time,” his father Max Romeo reinforces the message with a concise guest appearance. Producer CHLLNGR brought the recordings together and handed the mix over to Prince Fatty, who supplemented the sessions with legendary drummer Winston “Horseman” Williams. The recordings took place at both Laerken Studio in Copenhagen and Charmax Studios in Linstead, Jamaica. Alongside “Signs Of The Time,” album highlights include “Thanks and Praises” and “Jah Jah Disciples,” which explore the album’s thematic range from gratitude to spiritual steadfastness. “Signs Of The Time” is available from Recall Reality on LP and across major streaming platforms.

The 7" Perseverance, released on Silsila Dubs, features two mixes: the title track "Perseverance" on the A-side and its instrumental "Version" on the B-side. The release is rooted in the sonic tradition of the British sound system scene and focuses on heavy basslines, sparse melodic figures, and expansive delay and reverb spaces that lend the dub a meditative sense of spaciousness.

Behind the project is Govind Singh, who wrote, produced, and mixed the tracks; he operates within the Mya-Hi‑Fi milieu, which is closely connected to the label. The production takes its cues from 1990s recording techniques and was realized through the cult Soundcraft Ghost console at Silsila HQ, giving the arrangements analog warmth and spatial depth. Musically, the material nods to Jah Shaka, Aba‑Shanti‑I, and classic dub formats without feeling retrospective.

With Perseverance, Silsila Dubs positions itself as a new link between tradition-minded dub aesthetics and contemporary production; the concise 7-inch format distills the concept down to a few striking elements while still leaving room for the Version to function as an echo chamber and a space for sonic exploration.

The “Sweet Melody / Mr. Workhard” 12" by Carnastoan, released on Reggae Archive, appears as a limited black vinyl edition and brings a rediscovered piece of British roots & culture back into circulation. Reggae Archive is reissuing the original 12" in a run of 300 copies and presents the release in a reproduction of Alvin Kelly’s picture sleeve. The release is part of the label’s reissue series that makes rare UK roots reggae singles available again.

Musically, the record offers two contrasting sides: “Sweet Melody” is a love letter to the musical power and resilience of reggae, carried by soulful melodies and uplifting lyrics, while “Mr. Workhard,” with its heavier rhythm, addresses existential themes of work and sacrifice. Both tracks benefit from the production of Dennis Bovell, whose hands-on direction gives the sound clear definition. Credited contributors include Everal “Neville”/Bulba Brown (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Neville “Didgee” King (keyboards, backing vocals), Conrad Kelly (drums), Anthony “Boot” Bennett (bass, backing vocals), and Leo Green (congas, percussion). For collectors, the Carnastoan 12" on Reggae Archive offers a compact, carefully prepared document of a rare UK roots reggae jewel.

The "Conform EP" 12" by Havantepe is released on Berg Audio (catalog BERGAMON17, 2026) and presents four new tracks by the Istanbul‑born producer. The release joins the label’s so‑called "Monument" series and features full cover artwork by Juli Jah. As a 12" in the field of dub techno, the record relies on dense, atmospheric arrangements and a reductive dramaturgy that works across multiple layers of echo and space.

On the "Conform EP," Havantepe uses precisely placed textures and extended soundscapes to shape the tracks into slowly swelling progressions; the EP emphasizes subtle modulations and a sparse yet compelling groove dynamic. With this release, Berg Audio adds another entry to its catalog that underscores both the aesthetic continuity of the label and Havantepe’s penchant for hypnotic dub aesthetics. The "Conform EP" remains deliberately compact: four focused tracks, a clear visual line through the artwork, and a production signature that brings out the atmospheric qualities of dub techno.

Released on Silsila Dubs, the 7" “Perseverance” presents two mixes: the title track “Perseverance” on the A-side, and its instrumental “Version” on the B-side. The release is rooted in the sonic tradition of the British sound system scene, focusing on heavy basslines, sparse melodic figures, and generous use of delay and reverb that lend the dub a meditative expansiveness.

Behind the project is Govind Singh, who wrote, produced, and mixed the tracks; he operates within the Mya-Hi-Fi circle, which is closely connected to the label. The production draws on 1990s recording techniques and was created via the cult Soundcraft Ghost console at Silsila HQ, giving the arrangements analog warmth and spatial depth. Musically, the material nods to Jah Shaka, Aba-Shanti-I, and classic dub formats without coming across as merely retrospective.

With “Perseverance,” Silsila Dubs positions itself as a new link between tradition-conscious dub aesthetics and contemporary production; the concise seven-inch format distills the concept down to a few striking elements while still leaving room for the Version as an echo chamber and space for sonic development.

I Am An Instrument — a fully improvised modal jazz/dub collective based in Copenhagen, releasing their new album Wonder, Wander in late August on their own label, IAAI Music.

The premise of I Am An Instrument is simple and radical: no setlists, no arrangements, no safety net. Every record is a document of musicians surrendering entirely to the moment — modal jazz sensibility colliding with dub space and texture, recorded live as a single unfolding event. Wonder, Wander is the album where that philosophy deepens into something more searching. The title says it: it’s music that doesn’t arrive — it moves, it drifts, it discovers.

This isn’t a band that rehearses its improvisation. The tension on the record is real.

Joe Armon-Jones appears on this album — not as a featured guest in the conventional sense, but as a full participant in the improvisation. The backstory is simple: I met him backstage while he was setting up for a gig, handed him a bag of vinyl, and discovered he already had some of my productions in his collection. That moment of mutual recognition turned into a conversation, and eventually into a session. He came in, surrendered to the process like everyone else, and what’s on the record is what happened.

The band are rooted in Copenhagen’s experimental underground, with connections running from Afrobeat to dub to spiritual jazz. Not easy to categorize, which is exactly the way they like it.

The "Redscale 03" 12" released on Redscale presents two expansive dub techno cuts that further pursue the label’s stripped-down, atmospheric profile. Grad_U remains true to his compositional approach: sparse arrangements, vast reverberant spaces, and a persistent focus on rhythmic depth define this release.

The record features the tracks "EV -2" (approx. 9:23) and "EV -6" (approx. 6:49), whose long-form progressions leave room for subtle modulations and layered textures. The pieces work with offset chord pads, stretched-out delay and reverb elements, and a pronounced low-end presence, creating a meditative yet club-ready arc of tension in each case. Grad_U’s signature comes through in the precise fine-tuning of timbre and dynamics; small shifts in percussion and filter work keep the sound in constant motion.

The release came out on December 18, 2018; it expands the Redscale series as another chapter in Grad_U’s ongoing engagement with dub techno. "Redscale 03" offers production work rooted in reduction and meticulous detail, distinguished by its consistently dense atmosphere.

RSD’s “Worldwide Dub” LP is released on Reggae Archive Records and delves deep into the archive of Rob Smith, who wrote, performed, mixed, and produced the recordings. The album comprises eight dub tracks created between 2005 and 2016 in Bristol, Kyoto, and Tokyo. Two tracks were reworked in 2024, connecting historic recordings with later studio work.

“Trample” originally appeared in 2008 as the B-side of a rare white-label 12-inch, while “What I Must Do” and “Rio Conchos” first surfaced on MySpace under the pseudonym Dubkast. “Accepted” and “On Deck” come from a limited 12-inch release; “On Deck” draws on the atmosphere of a Bristol seafaring song. “Rio Conchos” incorporates sound effects from the 1964 Western of the same name.

The geographically distant production locations give the album its title. Alongside the characteristic dub treatments, reworked versions of “Firewall” and “Depend” shape the album’s structure. “What I Must Do” also features a muted trumpet signal by Roger Mills. Martin Langford handled the selection and sequencing of the tracks, while RSD shaped the release as a cohesive journey through his recordings made between Bristol and Japan.

The “Oh Jah Man / Think It Twice” 12" by Irregular Roots, released on A-Lone, brings together two distinctive versions of the title track plus an instrumental dub statement, placing a clear focus on a Roots & Culture aesthetic. The A-side carries the extended version of “Oh Jah Man,” while the B-side is completed by “Think It Twice” and the remix “Dub It Twice” by Roberto Sánchez, resulting in a set that skillfully combines vocals, rhythmic depth, and studio dub.

Produced, recorded, and mixed by Roberto Sánchez at A-Lone Ark Muzik Studio, his dub contribution occupies the B2 slot and transforms the band’s arrangement ideas into an autonomous studio version. Irregular Roots appear here with Charly on lead vocals, backed by Diego Gracia on drums and backing vocals, Nacho García on bass, Javi Mediel on guitar, and Edu García on keys; percussion parts are contributed by Roberto Sánchez and Diego Gracia. The compositions are written by Irregular Roots themselves and display an emphasis on rhythmic precision and organic instrumentation. For listeners who appreciate fully worked-out versions and the translation of roots arrangements into the dub universe, this 12" on A-Lone offers a matter-of-fact, tightly crafted addition to the current scene.

The “Studio One Dub Plate Special” compilation under the “Soul Jazz Records presents” banner brings together ten previously unreleased cuts from the Studio One archive and is released on the Soul Jazz label as a strictly limited special edition, originally offered as an exclusive Record Store Day release. This edition compiles the rare versions, which had previously circulated only as hand-etched one-sided 12" dub plates, into a collector’s format and presents unadulterated takes and alternate cuts as they were played on the original dub plates.

On “Studio One Dub Plate Special” you’ll find contributions from Alton Ellis, Cedric Brooks, The Officials, Soul Brothers, Carey Johnson, Brentford All Stars, and Jacob Miller; some tracks are presented here in alternate versions or are being released for the first time outside of dubplate circulation. With this compilation, Soul Jazz not only documents rare mixes, it also offers insight into Coxsone Dodd’s production practice and the role of dubplates in the Studio One environment. The selection is deliberately focused on tracks and sources, making the “Studio One Dub Plate Special” box a precise cross-section of unusual Studio One rarities.

Culture’s “International Herb” LP is being released by Abraham as a vinyl reissue of an album originally released in 1979. Produced by Sonia Pottinger and recorded in Kingston, the record combines roots reggae with Culture’s characteristic Rastafari messages and socially conscious lyrics. At its center is Joseph Hill, whose vocals and compositions define the album’s sound.

The title track, “The International Herb,” openly explores the spiritual and cultural significance of cannabis and develops musically into a catchy song with distinctive horn lines and a buoyant rhythm. “Jah Rastafari,” “Rally Around Jahoviah’s Throne,” and “Ethiopians Waan Guh Home,” meanwhile, turn their attention to faith, African identity, and a return to the roots of the Rastafari movement. “Too Long In Slavery,” by contrast, addresses the history of colonial oppression.

The Revolutionaries provided the musical foundation. The musicians involved include Sly Dunbar and Mikey Boo on drums, Bertram “Ranchie” McLean on bass, Radcliffe Bryan on guitar, and Dean Fraser and Herman Marquis on saxophones. Errol Brown handled the recording and mixing. In this way, “International Herb” brings together melodic accessibility, spiritual themes, and social clarity without abandoning Culture’s roots in Jamaican roots reggae. The LP released by Abraham contains ten tracks.

The "Peaceful Man" 7" by Freddie McGregor is released on Thompson Sound and distills a classic from the singer’s early work into a compact format. The production comes from the Linval Thompson circle, pairing McGregor’s vocals with stripped-down, heavy riddims; more recent reissues in the series have been mixed and dubbed for 7" and 12" pressings by Roberto Sánchez.

Musically, "Peaceful Man" combines warm, soul-tinged vocals with a roots-oriented backing in the vein of the early 1980s Roots Radics sound; the arrangements rely on clear bass lines, restrained guitar figures and precise drum grooves that leave plenty of space for McGregor’s melodic phrasing. Lyrically, the tune calls in a typically Rasta way for calm and spiritual steadfastness.

As a single, the 7" hones in on the distinctive core of the track; listeners familiar with the different versions will know about the alternate vocals and dub mixes that cast the theme in contrasting mixes. The song is an example of the close collaboration between Freddie McGregor and Linval Thompson, fusing voice and production into a timeless reggae statement.

"Exit The Dread" by Janka is being released on Moonshine (catalog no. MSLP021).

The record brings together eight tracks, all consistently labeled with the addition "Dub," signaling a clear affinity with dub aesthetics. Titles like "NEW LIGHT DUB," "FRICTION DUB," and "NOISE TO MEET YOU DUB (ft. BUKKHA)" point to echo‑ and delay‑based arrangements and a production approach that foregrounds bass pressure and spatial effects. The track order suggests that Janka weaves familiar club elements together with organic, dub‑like textures.

Musically, Janka positions himself at the intersection of techno and dub‑oriented electronics: stripped‑down, low‑frequency grooves meet expansive soundscapes and repeating motifs, creating a focused flow geared toward the dance floor. The collaboration with guest voices such as Bukkha and the consistently dub‑driven direction mark the release as a deliberate statement within the modern club underground, relying on production techniques that use space and reverb as compositional elements.

Patrice’s “Nile” LP is released on Supow Music and showcases the Cologne-based musician during a particularly introspective phase. Released in 2005, the album combines soul, reggae, and folk with experimental approaches, expanding Patrice’s musical language with melodic, restrained passages as well as influences from pop and downtempo.

At the center is Patrice’s distinctive voice, carried by production that bridges organic warmth and modern studio processing. Patrice handled much of the production himself; Matt Kent and Cameron McVey also contributed to several tracks. The musicians involved include Daniel Allen on trumpet, Granville Thomas on drums, Phillip Sewell on bass, and Izrah Williams on guitar and backing vocals, among others.

The title track, “Nile,” evokes the river as a symbol of movement, transition, and inner development. Thematically, the album revolves around cultural connection, personal growth, and the search for change without sacrificing its musical openness. The LP also features “Soulstorm,” a key track in Patrice’s repertoire. “Nile” reached the top five in several European music markets and marked an important stage in the development of the reggae artist. Supow Music is now reissuing this multifaceted work on LP.

“Originally Mr Clarke (Restored, Remastered)” brings together on LP key pieces from Johnny Clarke’s body of work and presents the recordings anew in revised form. The compilation emphasizes the songs’ classic roots foundation and brings the vocalist’s distinctive melodic lines clearly to the fore without distorting the original character of the productions.

Musically, the material sits in the realm of roots reggae with clear touches of reggae pop; the lyrics range from religious themes to statements of a social nature, reflected in titles like “Jah Jah We Are Waiting” and “Our Father In Zion.” Johnny Clarke stands out for his warm, melodic voice and nuanced phrasing, which give the tracks a lasting catchiness.

Essential aspects of the production include the collaboration with Brad Osbourne and the use of renowned studios and engineers: recording and mixing took place among others at Channel One and King Tubby’s, with technicians such as Scientist, Shep, and Bob Blank involved—elements that strongly shape the sound of the tracks. The Gorgon edition thus offers a technical refresh of classic recordings while preserving their stylistic authenticity.

“‘Ital Food’ 7-inch” by Sammy Gold and Tapes appears on Jahtari, combining digital dancehall with a powerful bassline and an unconventional food anthem. Sammy Gold, serving here as a veteran singjay on the mic, praises steamed carrots, sweet potatoes, cabbage, and bell peppers on the title track, while Tapes equips the riddim with a restless, driving pulse for the dance floor. The lyrics contrast natural foods with industrially processed meals, grounding the message in a direct, humorous delivery.

On the B-side comes “They Call Me Nothing,” with Tapes transforming the previously established groove into a spiced dub mix. The bassline moves even further to the forefront, while the stripped-down structure clearly highlights the difference between the vocal side and the version. “Ital Food” launches a new 7-inch series from Jahtari and features silver Pantone printing on the labels. The release thus brings together a characterful dancehall song and an expansive dub reinterpretation, both closely responding to each other.

The "Ghetto Man Problem" LP by Winston Hussey is released on Live & Learn and presents the singer on a set built around pronounced dub layers: the title track is accompanied by its own dub version, which deliberately brings echo effects and powerful bass motifs to the fore. The release follows in the label’s mid‑1980s tradition and shows Hussey in a somewhat more serious register than on his earlier singles.

Producer Delroy Wright is responsible for the recording; his arrangements rely on a distinctive ragtime‑style horn section that underscores the melancholic vocal line and gives the piece its structural accents. Winston Hussey alternates between a relaxed delivery and nuanced phrasing that at times recalls Gregory Isaacs, lending the track a subtle, wistful hue.

Musically, "Ghetto Man Problem" combines classic dub elements with the then‑common live digital sound: instrumental versions and framed dub mixes complement the vocal tracks, while the production emphasizes rhythmic depth. As a Live & Learn release, the LP clearly reveals Delroy Wright’s production signature and the characteristic studio effects of that era.

Released on P-Vine, the Dennis Bovell 7" “Les Dub Feat. Carroll Thompson / Dutchie Dub” brings together two distinctive dub reworkings from the album “Wise Music in Dub” and presents them in concise form on the single format.

“Les Dub” showcases Carroll Thompson in a laid-back lovers rock interpretation of Minnie Riperton’s classic “Les Fleurs,” which Bovell transforms into a cohesive, low-slung dub version where vocals and echo space are carefully played off against each other. The stripped-down instrumentation emphasizes the melodic core of the original and, through reverb-soaked effects, shifts its impact into a new dramaturgical realm.

The B-side, “Dutchie Dub,” reconstructs Musical Youth’s memorable hit “Pass the Dutchie” as a tropically tinged dub reprise; rhythmic accents and subtle keyboard figures give the track a more spacious, lighter feel that nevertheless remains deeply rooted in studio dub. Taken together, both tracks exemplify Bovell’s keen sense for transforming well-known melodies into full-scale dub arrangements.

The *Horns Up! Dubbing With Horns* LP by Tappa Zukie is released on Jamaican Recordings and places the horn sections of Jamaican studio recordings unusually far up front. The album is based on productions by DJ, producer, and arranger Tappa Zukie, who rebalanced selected rhythms with distinctive horn lines. Rather than using the melodies simply as background color, this approach makes their dialogic connection with drums and bass the defining element.

The recordings were made within the Jamaican studio scene of the 1970s, including sessions at Channel One, and were mixed at King Tubby’s Studio. Musicians involved included Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespeare, Earl “Chinna” Smith, Tommy McCook, and Winston Wright. The horn players Vin Gordon and Deadly “Headley” Bennett are also associated with the project. Their contributions stand out clearly in the mix, while the deep rhythms provide the characteristic point of reference for dub.

With “Horns Up,” “Going West,” “Rock The Rock,” and “Natty Horns She Wants,” the LP comprises twelve tracks that convey Tappa Zukie’s perspective on instrumental reggae productions. Alongside the dub foundation, jazzy and bluesy tones emerge, giving some passages almost the atmosphere of an imagined soundtrack. *Horns Up! Dubbing With Horns* thus combines studio work, horn arrangement, and bass-focused rhythms into a distinctive album concept.

The “You Wanna Turn Me On” LP by Osbert Maddo is being released on Arabusta as a vinyl reissue of the album originally released in 1982. Maddo, also known as the Bionic Singer, pairs his fragile, high falsetto voice with early dancehall rhythms rooted firmly in the Rockers and Steppers productions of the late 1970s. Rolling bass, distinctive guitars, and powerful rhythmic work give the recordings their characteristic feel.

The album was recorded at Kingston’s Channel One, Harry J, and Joe Gibbs studios. The musicians involved include Sly Dunbar on drums, Robbie Shakespeare on bass, Ranchie McLean on guitar, and Ansil Collins on piano and organ. The horn section consists of Bobby Ellis on trumpet, as well as Tommy McCook and Dean Fraser on saxophone. “You Wanna Turn Me On” was produced by Tony Shabazz and Osbert Maddo, while Tony Shabazz and Winston Jarrett handled the rhythm arrangements.

The title track highlights Maddo’s melodic side with a romantic, direct vocal line. The album also includes tracks such as “Freedom Fighter,” “Put It Down Gunman,” and “Public Enemy,” which explore different facets ranging from love songs and social commentary to dancehall storytelling. Arabusta has restored and remastered the recordings and released them as an LP with an insert.

The Showcase Volume 2 LP by Lone Ark Meets The 18th Parallel is released on Fruits and, five years after the first volume in the series, picks up the collaboration between the two artists. Recorded on 2-inch tape between Geneva and Cueto, the production is characterized by powerful drums and bass, a tight rhythm section, and intricate horn, flute, and synth arrangements; Roberto Sánchez takes center stage as the voice and decisively shapes the record’s sonic profile.

Musically, Showcase Volume 2 addresses contemporary themes with a roots-oriented sound aesthetic: “Ammunition” is about activism through music, “Man Kill Man” criticizes the logic of war, and “Money” explores perspectives critical of capitalism. Each of the six songs on the LP is paired with its dub counterpart, mixed by Roberto Sánchez himself, extending the studio work as an artistic element in its own right. The focus is on analog warmth and a human touch: instead of digital gimmicks, the release relies on organic arrangements and hands-on studio work, which lends the Fruits edition its distinctive authenticity.

The “Running Around (83)” 12" by Yl Hooi, released on Efficient Space, brings a long road-tested live piece to vinyl for the first time. The hand-stamped white-label 12" honors the raw presentation of the material and presents the central version alongside three self-contained renditions.

Yl Hooi, the duo of Valya Ying-Li Hooi and Tarquin Manek, uses “Running Around (83)” to document a dense combination of crushing rhythms, otherworldly voices, and cryptic fragments of text that ride atop an overdriven, dub-techno-oriented bassline. It’s the project’s first release since “Untitled” (2019) and channels the tension honed in live performance into a focused studio version that preserves both its motoric weight and its finely detailed sonic observations.

The record comprises four tracks: the original version, the “Mad Professor Dub,” the “Ulla Version,” and the “John T. Gast Remix.” Mad Professor delivers a percussion-heavy halftime stepper variant featuring contributions from Black Steel and Karmelody. Ulla’s version rebuilds the theme, weaving together woodwinds, keys, and subtle percussion to create a meeting point between ambient, minimal jazz, and contemporary classical. John T. Gast pulls the material into a rough, sound-system-oriented dance form where lo-fi aesthetics and distorted energy intersect. With this 12", Efficient Space remains a forum for experimental, hybrid-inflected electronics.

The album features distinctive arrangements with prominent horn parts and warm rhythm beds; songs such as “It A Go Rough” and “Moving On To Zion” convey the range between reflective roots lyricism and driving, richly layered studio grooves. Johnny Clarke’s voice always remains at the forefront, clearly framed by horns and melodic keyboard lines.

The record was produced by Brad Osborne together with Johnny Clarke, with recording and mixing taking place, among other locations, at Channel One and King Tubby’s. Renowned engineers such as Scientist and Bob Blank were involved. Musicians including Aston “Family Man” Barrett, Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespeare and Earl “Chinna” Smith, along with arranging contributions from Clive Hunt and Tommy McCook, shape the sound and provide the productions with an airy yet earthy foundation. The “Originally Mr Clarke” LP on Clocktower thus documents a chapter in Clarke’s work where classic studio craftsmanship meets his calm vocal presence.

The “Dreadlocks Nah Run” 7" by Linval Thompson is released on Thompson Sound and brings Thompson’s signature, earthy reggae straight to vinyl; the A-side is produced by Linval Thompson himself.

Musically, the single sits at the transition from roots to early dancehall: a heavy bass line, stripped-down guitar figures, and prominent offbeat accents form the backbone, while Thompson’s voice, with its clear, compelling phrasing, rides on top of the riddim. The underlying “Dreadlocks Nah Run” riddim was created in collaboration with the Roots Radics and was reworked into different versions for sound system use.

On the B-side there’s a version that emphasizes the track’s instrumental core and leaves room for dub treatments; Thompson’s productions have repeatedly yielded stand-alone dub cuts and versions that were expanded by well-known engineers and bands from the scene. Such reworkings show how the single functions in a sound system context.

Linval Thompson is known both as a singer and as a producer, and his self-produced work helped shape the sound of the late seventies and early eighties; his output combines classic roots songwriting with the rhythmic punch of the early dancehall era and makes this 7" a characteristic example of his work.

With the 12" “Japanese New Wave On Dub 1980 - 1985,” released on Miss You, V.A. takes his creativity to the next level while, by and large, remaining true to his style. The compilation brings together tracks from the early Japanese new wave scene that are re-accentuated through a dub aesthetic, carving out a distinct intersection between post-punk, synth pop, and reggae-leaning studio experiments. Tight, concise guitar riffs and coolly deployed synthesizers are characteristic, flanked by bass-heavy arrangements, reverb and delay effects, and deliberate work on the mix that gives the songs both space and a floating quality. Many contributions combine urban melancholy with a danceable, groove-oriented drive, as producers use echo and mixing tricks to create atmospheric depth without blurring the songs’ structural clarity. For listeners interested in the interweaving of Japanese new wave and dub-inspired production approaches, this collection offers a concise and stylistically focused journey through an exciting chapter of the early Eighties.

The “Upsetters 14 Dub Black Board Jungle” LP by Upsetters is being released on Week-End and is regarded as a groundbreaking dub release that, as early as the early 1970s, redefined the work of producers and engineers. The record showcases the radical use of remix and studio effects of the time and stands for early experimentation in dub, which is why it is repeatedly cited as a milestone in numerous retrospectives on the emergence of the genre.

Behind the name Upsetters are the studio musicians from Lee “Scratch” Perry’s circle; the lineup existed in several incarnations, starting with Gladdy’s All-Stars with Gladstone Anderson and Winston Wright on keyboards and Jackie Jackson on bass, through the Hippy Boys with the Barrett brothers, and on to a flexible band configuration in the Black Ark years. This collective approach to performance can be heard on “Upsetters 14 Dub Black Board Jungle” and explains the dense, modular way the tracks are constructed.

The release not only documents expanded possibilities of studio production, it also exerted a lasting influence on later producers and remix concepts. Tracks such as “Black Panta” and “Dreamland Skank” have been appearing in DJ sets and specialist writing on dub for decades, demonstrating the enduring influence of this LP on subsequent generations of studio artists.

The “Upsetters 14 Dub Black Board Jungle” LP by Upsetters is being released on Week-End and presents the now once again available version of this dub classic. The material has been fully restored and newly mastered for this edition by Stephan Mathieu; the release returns after more than 20 years and is being offered for the first time with the original artwork. The run is limited to 3,000 copies.

The package includes an 8-page 12" booklet with extensive liner notes by David Katz as well as an interview with Adrian Sherwood that provides additional insight into the album’s creation and context. The sleeve features embossed logo and title details; the lacquer cut was done at STT, and pressing was handled by Optimal Media. With the “Upsetters 14 Dub Black Board Jungle” LP, Week-End is issuing an edition that combines historical documents of dub with modern processing and presents the material anew in technically revised form. The combination of restored audio, new mastering, and supplementary texts makes this edition a focused, curated release within the Upsetters’ dub repertoire.

The “Slimmah Sound Meets The Roots Tribe Players” LP by Slimmah Sound is released on Slimmah Sound and presents itself as a vocal- and dub-oriented showcase that brings together several prominent voices. For this release, Slimmah Sound has enlisted Micah Shemaiah, Mackeehan, I Man, Macka B, and Idren Natural as guest singers, so the record features both strong vocal tracks and their respective dub versions.

On the instrumental side, a solid foundation is provided: guitar parts by Robby Sens and brass arrangements by the Dynamite Horns complement the rhythmic base, while Tim “Slimmah Sound” Baumgarten plays, arranges, and mixes the remaining instrumental tracks. Baumgarten also handled the production, consistently implementing his characteristic, deeply rooted roots aesthetic.

The edition is pressed on 180-gram vinyl and comes in thick, heavy printed outer and inner cardboard sleeves, so the physical package lives up to the musical ambition. “Slimmah Sound Meets The Roots Tribe Players” documents both the preservation and the continuation of the roots tradition; the selection of voices, the blend of vocal and dub, and the craftsmanship of the production make the LP a release aimed equally at selectors, collectors, and sound systems.

The green vinyl edition of the “Let the Light Shine” LP by Hydroponics was released on Partial and presents the material as a carefully curated pressing in a Roots & Culture context. The record gathers ten dense dub tracks defined by sparse arrangements, heavy bass foundations, and reverb-drenched echo effects, which give the album its characteristic hazy soundscape. In this way, Hydroponics’ “Let the Light Shine” remains available in a new pressing that preserves the tracks and atmosphere of the original recordings.

This compilation is based on a selection from the Conscious Sounds studio and includes well-known dub cuts such as “Let the Light Shine,” “Zulu Man,” and “Dub Pressure,” which were originally released in 2000 on the Dubhead label. The ten tracks unfold as a focused dub suite: stripped-down melodies are carried by deep frequency layers, while effects and rhythmic shifts create space for subtle sonic movements. The compilation “Listen Up! Dub Classics Orange Vinyl Edition” on Kingston Sounds presents a hand-selected collection of classic dub versions and is released on orange vinyl. The collection brings the rhythmic backbone of Jamaican dub to the forefront: bass and drums are stripped back and placed prominently, while vocals and instruments are selectively faded in and out with echo and reverb, allowing familiar recordings to be experienced as new versions. With this release, Kingston Sounds focuses on the origins of dub aesthetics and the practice of transforming B-sides into standalone versions.

The “Listen Up! Dub Classics Orange Vinyl Edition” includes recordings closely associated with the early pioneers of dub; many of the versions were created by King Tubby and thus bear his historic signature. Artists featured include Horace Andy, Cornell Campbell, Johnny Clarke, Delroy Wilson, and Barry Brown, heard here in stripped-down versions shaped by prominent effects. Tracks such as “A Better Version” by Horace Andy and “Creation of Dub” by Johnny Clarke serve as distinctive cornerstones of the collection. Overall, this Kingston Sounds compilation offers a concise introduction to the versioning tradition of Jamaican studio culture and presents the sonic interventions that define dub in a clear, cohesively arranged form.

The tonal character of the recording is shaped by renowned musicians from the Jamaican scene: Sly Dunbar handles drums, Robbie Shakespeare supplies the bass, Bingy Bunny and Dougie add guitar work, Melodice Gladdy can be heard on piano, and Sticky contributes percussion. Augustus Pablo appears here as both producer and organ player, with Charles Reid credited as arranger. On the “Dubbing In A Africa” LP, Abraham consistently realizes the project’s acoustic signature and, with titles such as “Everlasting Dub” and “King Of Kings Dub,” offers both brief interludes and dense dub elements that present the work as a distinctive contribution to Roots & Culture.

Sessions at Channel One, Aquarius, Tuff Gong and Music Mountain resulted in the 1984 albums So Unusual and Exclusive. This single brings together one track from each album. “Sad” is Allison's interpretation of Smokey Robinson & The Miracles' “Who's Sad”, reflecting the influence that earned him the childhood nickname “George Smokey”. “Every Hoe” was inspired by the Jamaican proverb “Every hoe have him stick a bush”, expressing the idea that there is someone for everyone while acknowledging the problems that inevitably accompany human relationships.

The “If I Give My Heart To You” 7-inch by John Mclean is released on Ariwa Sounds as a vinyl reissue of a Lovers Rock classic, one of the singer’s best-known recordings. At its center is a soulful reggae ballad about trust, caution, and what happens when a heart is opened. John Mclean’s understated vocals carry the song, while the Ariwa-influenced production combines its romantic character with a warm, steady rhythm.

The A-side features “If I Give My Heart To You” by John Mclean. The track emerged from the Ariwa Sounds scene and was produced in collaboration with Mad Professor. The recording represents the British Lovers Rock style, in which clear melodies, intimate lyrics, and a gently rolling reggae groove come together. It became one of John Mclean’s most distinctive songs and later also appeared on his album of the same name, as well as in expanded digital editions.

The B-side features “Dub My Heart” by Mad Professor. The dub version takes up the original’s central motif and shifts the focus from the vocals to the studio work, allowing the release to continue its musical connection in a consistent way. On this 7-inch, Ariwa Sounds thus brings together John Mclean’s Lovers Rock and Mad Professor’s dub aesthetic.

The "See Him" 7" by Jim Brown is released on Soul Jazz and delivers a punchy dancehall cut from the Studio One camp on vinyl. Produced by C. S. Dodd, Jim Brown’s vocals are clearly front and center, while backing by the Studio One Band, aka Sound Dimension, provides the rhythmic foundation. The recording rides the riddim framework known as "Lecturer," which gives the track immediate dancefloor appeal and fuses the classic Studio One sound with a rougher dancehall approach.

On the B-side you’ll find the version, which highlights the instrumental foundation and brings the rhythmic elements to the fore without lead vocals; this complements the A-side and makes C. S. Dodd’s arrangement logic in the production clear. With this 7", Soul Jazz presents Jim Brown as part of a series that makes classic Studio One titles newly accessible, relying on the authenticity of the original and the power of the version tradition. Overall, the "See Him" 7" documents Jim Brown’s contribution to dancehall history and Studio One’s productivity as a key hub for vocal cuts with distinctive versions.

The Shaft 7-inch released on Vampisoul by Ely Combo presents the band version of the well-known movie theme under the Spanish title “Tema De Shaft,” bringing an early connection between Latin American pop culture and Jamaican rhythms into focus.

Musically, Ely Combo moves in the realm of early reggae and rocksteady as they were adaptively cultivated in Mexico and the wider region in the early 1970s. The arrangements combine stripped-down grooves with open-sounding vocal lines, recasting soul and pop cover material in a laid-back, rhythm-centered guise.

The group is known from recordings dating from around 1972; the album *Express Your Self* documents this period and includes tracks such as “Express Yourself,” “Satisfaction,” and, of course, “Tema De Shaft,” underscoring their interest in the transcultural appropriation of popular songs. In doing so, Ely Combo uses both English and Spanish lyrics, highlighting the multilingual nature of their repertoire.

As a 7-inch release, this Vampisoul edition offers a focused glimpse into the early reggae-oriented output of a little-documented scene. For listeners interested in the intersections of soul, pop, and Caribbean-inflected rhythm in Latin America, the single provides a clear stylistic statement.

Some of the LP’s tracks were recorded during the same sessions as the advance singles, resulting in a coherent, unified sonic character.

The recording was made at Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston and produced by Gregory Isaacs together with bassist Errol “Flabba” Holt. The characteristic reggae sound was provided by the Roots Radics, featuring drummer Lincoln “Style” Scott, guitarists Eric “Bingy Bunny” Lamont and Dwight Pinkney, keyboardist Wycliffe “Steelie” Johnson, and synthesizer player Wally Badarou.

The title track, “Night Nurse,” takes center stage, with Isaacs singing about romantic longing and the desire for comfort in his calm, unmistakable voice. The relaxed rhythm, distinctive synthesizer figure, and understated arrangement made the song his best-known recording. Tracks such as “Stranger in Town” and “Cool Down the Pace” also demonstrate the blend of melodic reggae, Lovers Rock influences, and the precise accompaniment of the Roots Radics.

The album contains eight tracks and marked Isaacs’ first release for Island Records after he had already established himself as a singer and producer in Jamaica. The 180-gram LP with poster recreates the original Island edition’s design and brings “Night Nurse” back to vinyl as a cohesive studio album.

The "East Of The River Nile" LP by Augustus Pablo was released on Shanachie and is regarded as one of the most influential instrumental works in reggae/dancehall. The title track, "East Of The River Nile," has established itself as a reggae classic and presents Pablo in his signature role as a melodica player, whose two-part lead motifs carry the pieces and open up atmospheric spaces. With this edition, Shanachie presents an album that combines historic recordings with a clear, modern production.

Augustus Pablo (Horace Swaby) serves as producer and multi-instrumentalist; in addition to melodica, he can be heard on piano, electric piano, clavinet, organ, and synthesizer, causing the arrangements to move between warm keyboard textures and crisp melodic lines. Recorded in Kingston studios, the tracks benefit from the precise rhythmic work of established session musicians, who sustain the instrumental flow without crowding the melodic center. The Shanachie reissue includes additional tracks that broaden the scope of the original and complete the LP’s narrative arc. For listeners who appreciate the connection between melodic immediacy and dub-oriented production, "East Of The River Nile" on Shanachie remains a benchmark recording.

Released on Top Ranking Sound, the 7" “Always For Me” by Foxy Brown presents the title-giving dancehall lovers track alongside its instrumental / dub version on a compact piece of vinyl. The singer’s clear, warm voice is front and center; the arrangement combines gentle melodic lines with a classic dancehall rhythm and fully developed dub elements, sharpening the song’s melancholy. Documented by the label as a reissue, the release presents both versions in the usual A- / B-side configuration.

Foxy Brown (Jennifer Esmerelda Hylton) made a name for herself in the late 1980s with her own compositions and interpretations, and in the reggae scene she is often associated with delicate yet precise vocal lines. Her path led from her 1989 debut album to further albums and single hits in 1990, including the track reissued here. This background also shapes the sonic direction of the 7", which moves between Lovers Rock and roots-oriented dancehall.

A defining element of the recording is the production by Harold McLarty, which gives the song its well-balanced relationship between vocals and rhythm. The B-side offers a version that leaves room for reworking by DJs and dub enthusiasts, making the record appealing both to collectors and to listeners who appreciate traditional Jamaican production aesthetics.

The track was produced by Linval Thompson, with Roberto Sánchez handling the mix at A-Lone Ark Muzik Studio, firmly anchoring the recording in the roots reggae and dub tradition. Here Barrington Levy showcases the distinctive vocal tone and melodic phrasing that have made him a defining voice in reggae and dancehall since the late 1970s. The arrangement and production make use of space, deep basslines, and echo-laden dub elements that give the piece both structure and resonance.

The collaboration with Linval Thompson underscores the connection to classic Jamaican production craft: Thompson’s work as a producer provides the historical framework in which Levy’s voice stands out in vivid relief. As a 7" single, the release is equally suited to collectors and to use in DJ sets, as it combines the vocal essence with a dancefloor-ready dub version.

The group was founded in 2011 and has toured throughout North and South America as well as Europe, collaborating with Jesse Wagner, Greg Lee, Alex Désert, Angelo Moore, Karina Denike, Vic Ruggiero, Queen P, and Tim “Johnny Vegas” Burton. Their side of the 7-inch opens with “Skaravan.”

The “Treasure Dub Volume 2” LP by Arthur “Duke” Reid is released on Studio 16 and takes listeners into a defining period in Jamaican dub history. The album is based on rocksteady and reggae productions from the Treasure Isle orbit, originally recorded in the 1960s and remixed in the mid-1970s. Released in 1976, it is one of the early dub works to transform classic riddims into a new sonic form through echo, reverb, and altered mixing levels.

Errol Brown was responsible for the production, having worked closely with the Treasure Isle studio as a sound engineer. The musical foundation comes from Tommy McCook and the Supersonics, whose precise interplay preserves the tracks’ clear rhythmic structure despite the added effects. Standout tracks include “Balistic Queen,” “Toughest Dub,” and “Guidance,” which draw on well-known Treasure Isle compositions such as “Queen Majesty,” “Cry Tough,” and “I Can’t Stop Now.”

“Treasure Dub Volume 2” by Arthur “Duke” Reid thus combines the melodic substance of Jamaican rocksteady with an early dub aesthetic that remains closely tied to the source material. Studio 16 is reissuing the album as an LP within the “002 Dub Series.”

Blundetto’s “Slow Dance EP” 12-inch, released on Heavenly Sweetness, brings together several new versions of the title track from the project of the same name, focusing on extended and remix versions suited both to DJ sets and to listening situations at a more laid-back pace. The record includes the Extended Version of “Slow Dance,” featuring guest appearances by Lateef The Truthspeaker and Jahdan Blakkamoore, as well as the instrumental version of that mix. The B-side features remixes, including contributions from Voilaaa and Patchworks.

Musically, Blundetto’s “Slow Dance EP” draws on Roots & Culture aesthetics without foregoing treatments aimed at digital and kompa-adjacent styles: warm bass lines and sparsely placed percussion create space for the guests’ distinctive voices, while the Voilaaa remixes break the material open toward modern kompa rhythms and Patchworks brings a more electronic perspective. The collection feels like a deliberate complement to the album context, emphasizing the extended and instrumental versions just as much as the remix interpretations.

The 12" “Dubhaus” released on Dachshund by Tm Shuffle brings a precise, dub-focused approach to rhythmic reduction and sonic depth; the set moves squarely in the realm of dub techno and ties repetitive motifs to layered textures and a constantly forward-driving groove. The tracks make sparing use of melodic elements and reverb-heavy production so that atmosphere and danceable structure remain equally weighted.

Musically, “Dubhaus” comprises three tracks that shift between raw club energy and a more introspective mood; the title track forms a hypnotic opening, “My City, My Brain” adds an extra voice to the deliberately minimalist composition through a contribution from Konstantin Kost, and “Pimeys” leads the EP into darker, more reflective territory. The material is written, produced, and composed by Jukka Hänninen, who, as Tm Shuffle, works with traditionally dub-rooted arrangements while foregrounding subtle variations and meticulous mixing. “Dubhaus” fits into the recent discography of Tm Shuffle and showcases the producer’s ongoing fine-tuning of space, use of delay, and bass design.

Released on Burning Bug, the 7" “Sound System History” by Lewis Bennett & Sista Oona brings together a powerful roots reggae tune on the A-side, offering a concise snapshot of the current steppers revival. The A-side, titled “Sound System History,” builds on a deep bass, sparse guitar layers, and precise, accented drumming that leaves space for Sista Oona’s voice.

The arrangement fuses classic roots elements with dub and jazz touches; a distinctive feature is the use of trumpet, which adds extra melodic movement and warmth to the track. The recording highlights Lewis Bennett’s penchant for heavy, spiritually tinged basslines, while Sista Oona’s delivery defines the central melodic line. The B-side features a longer discomix version that presents the tune in extended form with additional horn work.

Key production details: The record is released as a black 7" on black cardboard sleeve with catalog number BB7007; Lewis Bennett is responsible for instruments and production, the lyrics are by him, lead vocals are delivered by Sista Oona, and Oli Parker contributes trumpet. The release was announced in May 2026 and is distributed by Burning Bug.

The “Dead Dem A Go Dead” 7-inch by Speng Bond and disrupt, released on Jahtari, brings a fast-chat track created during a late-night live session to vinyl for the first time. A fixture of the Birmingham scene, Speng Bond delivers a hard-hitting sound-system cut on the A-side, built around a foundation created at the Annex Bass Bunker at Open Ground. The release combines his distinctive spoken-word attack with bass-heavy production and serves as the second entry in a new 7-inch series from Jahtari.

The B-side features “Dub Dem A Go Dub,” the dub version produced by disrupt. The cut places the rhythmic core of the A-side front and center, expanding it with a powerful, self-contained treatment. In doing so, the 7-inch continues Jahtari’s characteristic fusion of digital dancehall, bass music, and experimental studio production without sacrificing the original’s directness. The record labels feature a silver Pantone print, while the release brings Speng Bond and disrupt together in two distinct roles within the same production. The new Jahtari 7-inch series was launched by “Ital Food” by Sammy Gold and Tapes.

Anant Pradhan and Larry McDonald’s “The Thief Who Came To Dinner” 7-inch is released on Names You Can Trust, continuing the series of Jamaican-inspired film-score renditions that began in 2022. At its center is Henry Mancini’s music for the 1973 film of the same name, which Anant Pradhan transforms into a funky reggae arrangement in the “Flyers” style. The result combines cinematic motifs with the direct immediacy of instrumental Jamaican studio music.

Anant Pradhan handles saxophone and piano, while Larry McDonald provides the rhythmic focus on congas and percussion. They are joined by Preet Patel and Rich Terrana of The Frightnrs, Matt Burdi and Michael Sarason of The Far East, Brett Tubin of Channel Tubes, and veteran trombonist Clark Gayton. Victor Axelrod, known as Ticklah, contributes additional studio work. Pradhan and McDonald are also members of the Skatalites’ touring lineup.

The B-side, “Earl,” emerged from improvised studio work and develops into an airy reggae track with a sunny, almost cinematic atmosphere. The song is dedicated to Jamaican pianist Earl Appleton and showcases Pradhan alternating between saxophone and piano. With “The Thief Who Came To Dinner,” Names You Can Trust continues to build on the connection between Henry Mancini’s compositions and instrumental reggae tradition.

“Defected Presents David Rodigan House Of Roots” 7" box set by David Rodigan is released on Defected and brings together a compact, three-part remix project that transforms well-known Defected classics into new rhythmic forms. Rodigan himself serves as curator and has selected three producers to translate the recordings into dub, jungle, and drum & bass: Shy FX delivers a rendition of “The Cure & The Cause” (Fish Go Deep feat. Tracey K), Prince Fatty reworks “Heaven” (The Vision feat. Andreya Triana), and CLIPZ contributes a jungle version of “Strings Of Life” (Soul Central). This constellation connects the selector’s roots with contemporary bass cultures and brings the melodic cores of the originals to the fore in surprising ways.

The release is conceived as a limited 7" box set and comes in a sturdy outer box; each record is housed in its own custom artwork inner sleeve and accompanied by a 16-page booklet featuring photography and background texts. With “Defected Presents David Rodigan House Of Roots,” Defected presents a precisely curated special release that makes Rodigan’s bridge between soundsystem tradition and dancefloor-ready renditions audible, while at the same time illuminating the label’s archive from an unusual perspective.

The “February’s Album” LP by Hysterical Love Project is released on Motion Ward and presents ten warm compresses whose sound is suffused with palpable moisture and a fine hiss. The production focuses on atmospheric density and a careful balance between melancholy and reconciliation.

Downcast guitars are aerated by sanguine choruses, while fluttering electronic fragments, referred to as e-waste, punctuate the arrangements; a steady low-end throb carries the tracks. Contentment pulses alongside delirium; sweetness ripens into pressure, while questions of doubt and inner calm are reflected in sparsely used melodies and open sonic spaces. The LP moves within the tension between downbeat, electronica, and leftfield, unfolding a restrained yet compelling presence.

The material was written and recorded by Brooklyn Mellar and Ike Zwanikken; physical distribution is handled by Rubadub. Musically, echoes of Chris & Cosey, Labradford, City Centre Offices, and YL Hooi can be detected, while Motion Ward’s “February’s Album” maintains an independent, muted study of electronic density.

Lyrically, “February’s Album” poses recurring questions about doubt and inner calm; vivid passages about an open window that lets insects in and takes the light out shape the mood. Fine arrangement details ensure that a handful of motifs achieve a powerful atmospheric effect.
