It was released on March 28, 1995, through Columbia Records and is now widely regarded as one of the defining underground hip-hop albums of the 1990s. Although it received critical acclaim for its lyricism, the album achieved only modest commercial success upon release. Born Lamont Coleman in Harlem, New York, Big L first gained recognition through freestyle battles and as a member of the legendary Diggin' in the Crates Crew (D.I.T.C.). After being discovered by Lord Finesse, he signed with Columbia Records in 1993 and recorded the album between 1992 and 1994.

The red vinyl edition of Linkin Park’s “Living Things” LP was released by Warner. Released in 2012, the U.S. band’s fifth studio album combines hard-hitting rock instrumentation with electronic textures, rap passages, and striking vocal contrasts between Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington.

“Living Things” was produced by Mike Shinoda and Rick Rubin. The two had previously worked together on “Minutes to Midnight” and “A Thousand Suns,” further developing the signature combination of programmed soundscapes, guitar riffs, and dynamic choruses. The “Oblique” double LP by Ghost Dubs is released on Pressure and marks producer Michael Fiedler’s second album. On “Oblique,” Ghost Dubs showcases a denser, more cinematic sound design: deep low-end pressure, fragmentary rhythms, and blurred melodies generate a focused yet open-ended tension. Opener “Low Times” sets the tonal framework and has already appeared as a single with two remixes by The Bug, establishing an early tension between minimal force and carefully placed delay.

The LP features twelve tracks, including “Cold Data,” “Soft Collapse,” and “Bombed Suburbs,” the latter introducing melodic motifs reminiscent of Augustus Pablo, suspended in slowed-down grooves. “Almost a Structure” closes the album, with rhythmic elements dissolving into pure atmosphere. The “Running Back Mastermix: Edward – Edits” triple LP by Edward is released on Running Back in a gatefold jacket. Gilles Aiken, better known as Edward and active as a resident at Giegling, opens up an archive of his own edits that has grown over the course of many years. The thirteen edits were originally created for DJ sets and have only now been officially compiled for Running Back’s Mastermix series.

Edward does not treat the source tracks as material that fundamentally needs to be improved. His interventions extend passages, shift entries, bring rhythms to the forefront, or alter the emphasis of individual elements. The result is a musical autobiography told through records by other artists. The artists whose tracks he reworked include Carl Craig, Motohiko Hamase, Kirk Degiorgio, Aubrey, Sven Väth, and Michael Rother. With “Twilight (Edward’s Drum Version),” “Opaque (Edward’s Edit),” and “L’Esperanza (Edward’s Spirit Edit),” the selection ranges from Detroit techno and dub techno to Japanese ambient jazz and house, as well as trance and cosmic music.

The “Running Back Mastermix: Edward – Edits” 3LP thus documents Edward’s longstanding connection to the music that has shaped him as a producer and DJ. All tracks were edited and remixed by Edward, Lopazz handled the mastering at Mixmastering.de, and the vinyl was cut at Schallplatten Schneid Technik. Musically, “Bad” represents the third and final collaboration between Michael Jackson and producer Quincy Jones; recorded between 1985 and 1987, it fuses pop, rock, funk, R&B, and soul. The “Dirty Talk” 7-inch by The Mr K Edits is released on Most Excellent Unltd and features an instrumental edit of the Italo disco classic of the same name by Klein & MBO. The A-side runs 5:21 and focuses on the distinctive synthesizer pulse, prominent bassline, and driving 808 rhythm of the original, released in 1982.

Behind the project is New York DJ and edit specialist Danny Krivit, who, as Mr K, rearranges extensive disco, funk, and soul archives for use in the club. On “Dirty Talk,” he reduces the extended source material to its most effective elements and maintains the tension with a clearly defined groove. The characteristic synthesizer hook remains present throughout, while the rhythmic structure is compact and geared directly toward the dance floor.

The B-side, “Cannonball,” follows the same principle and expands the 7-inch with a second instrumental edit. Both tracks come from the series of releases through which Most Excellent Unltd presents well-known disco and boogie recordings in a concentrated form. “Dirty Talk” thus combines the cool electronics of early Italo disco with Krivit’s precise editing technique and an unusually long playing time for a 45 rpm release.

Alexander Christou, known as a member of Berliner Ring and for his work with Elecdrones, presents a solo project on "Weird Fiction" that connects analog and digital sound worlds. The recordings move within the wide field of electronic dub meditations: hazy textures, modulated delay spaces, and subtle, seemingly organic percussion elements set the tone. Rather than following conventional song structures, Christou arranges sounds according to mood and a sense of landscape, clearly reflecting the project’s origins in the milieu of the Berlin electronic scene.

Sonic highlights include the rendition of Ras Michael's "No Hoppers," which couples electronic percussion with Moondog-like rhythms, as well as "Prophet," which pinpoints Christou's relationship to the city with precision. "The Red Tower" fuses reggae groove and house kick into a blurred parallelism, while "Baudelaire" centers on digital delay and "Ladder Of Perfection" rounds off the album as a droning final tableau. Taken as a whole, "Weird Fiction" stands for an idiosyncratic, Northern European–inflected dub aesthetic within contemporary electronic music.

The unconscious element to the conscious process. The practice of dub techno and its tendrils is a fundamental for me, both aesthetically and from an engineering perspective. I start every recording session with a dub inspired jam, the first piece I ever recorded in 1996 was an effort to recreate Phylyps Trak with only a Korg X3 and an Ibanez Pue5 (borrowed from Gary Howell). It was an awesome introduction to jamming, and the footing stones of noise, delay and saturation were explored with my foot hard on the enthusiasm pedal. These practice jams are in some sense cathartic, the first step taken again & again, which helps me move forwards each session and additionally helps to 'warm the circuits' both of myself and the machines. After realising the genius of Basic Channel is akin to the genius of peasant food, using every ingredient with nothing left to waste, (up to and including the oft maligned working noise of the machines themselves), this was a watershed moment for my own subjective progression. No longer tied to just emulation of something inspiring, but taking these learned tools into other areas of music helped to break free from a strong current of influence and also to progress into other areas with the new toolbox. Dub: The importance of the dub pioneers should never be understated, in modern music and my own practice. Yet with my initial inspiration being two german dudes issuing extreme techno variants with obscured label designs, who then signposted their listeners to their own inspirations (via their Wackies re-issues or nodded to on their Rhythm & Sound/Burial Mix sub-labels), meant that I started late and travelled backwards. Learning to notice the live mixing of Mikey Dread or Lee Perry when the faders are bleeding through even when turned down, (echoed in BC's Quadrant Dub), or the brash send effects literally thrown into the mix also taught me that 'rough' mixing can inject a recording with life, uniqueness and the most right wrongness. Looking back Basic Channels very few elements helped me realise that the rules to be understood, are also the best ones to be broken. Push the mixer into the red. Amp that noise up from the tape delay cos it sounds sick. Pseudo side-chain effects cos the kicks are way too loud and the mixer can't sum it nicely. Spam the send knob into the delay units now, now and now. Carelessness. Noise: Once I wrapped my head around the intrinsic 'noise' element that set those records apart, this became a torchlight into the alt noise movements which I was tentatively exploring at the time, and also is evidently a connection or thread into them. Whether the Industrial/Post Punk UK scene (This Heat, TG, A Tent, F.E.) or the prolific output of the US Noise scene (Wolf Eyes, Live & Shave in LA, and subsequently following the lineage all the way back to Chrome's Alien Soundtracks), I had finally discovered a connection from techno to this 'free for all' corner of music. This input from the Noise arena of sound is, in my experience, an all important step for a sonic artist, taking it's roots and extending out from Stockhausen/Pierre Henry and utilised/warped/mangled by thousands of adventurous pioneers ever since, I now see the line separating the high brow and the low brow is actually an artery carrying information from the head to the heart. Vault is a selection of these jams that precede each of my solo recording sessions, for 30 years I've recorded hundreds of these 'workouts'. They are never intended as serious statements, just moments of naive enjoyment, yet most importantly they are time & space captured as practice. The objective is always a warm up exercise, but sometimes those exercises turn a different corner, with a certain focus or direction dependent on what random samples are left in my machines from the previous session, instead of conscious choices, these unconscious elements can facilitate those 'positive mistakes' that make a piece of sound retain a different feel or colour and thus become special, or at least special to the creator. I am quite conscious that the 'record everything' aspect of my ethos has been invaluable in cataloguing and saving these jams, while the attitude of carelessness during this process (after all, it's only a warm up jam) invites more enjoyment than seriousness ever could. The “Pixel” 12-inch by Intellitronic, released on Rubadub, sheds light on a largely hidden early phase of Heinrich Mueller, who is also behind projects such as Drexciya, Arpanet, and Dopplereffekt. The four tracks date from the early 1990s and combine stripped-down electronic precision with a clear connection to the printing and imaging technology of the era.

The title track, “Pixel,” had previously been available exclusively on the 1993 CD “Magic Tracks (Deep Detroit Volume Two),” compiled by Juan Atkins. “Stencil,” “Inkjet,” and “Hex Colour Code,” on the other hand, had remained unreleased and now appear for the first time alongside the previously known track on Rubadub’s 12-inch. As a result, “Pixel” offers an unusual portrait of Mueller’s work beyond his better-known aliases.

Musically, Intellitronic focuses on rigorously programmed rhythms, dry machine-funk structures, and a cool, functional sonic aesthetic. The track titles draw on terms associated with printing processes, color definition, and digital imaging, while still acknowledging their roots in the early electro tradition. The distinctive character of this release lies precisely in its combination of technical austerity, sparse arrangements, and Detroit-influenced rhythm work. Oxia’s “Domino 20th Anniversary” 12-inch, released on Armada, pays tribute to an influential club track from the 2000s. “Domino” was originally released in 2006 and became a staple of the melodic house and techno scene with its hypnotic groove and instantly recognizable synthesizer hook.

For the anniversary edition, the original recording was reworked as a “20 Year Remaster.” The A-side retains the track’s characteristic structure, while the refined sonic balance once again brings its central melody and driving rhythm to the forefront. Oxia’s stripped-down, impactful production remains at the core of this reissue.

The B-side features the “Space 92 Extended Remix.” The French producer transforms “Domino” into a more powerful peak-time version, combining the familiar synthesizer hook with a straighter, contemporary techno progression. The 12-inch thus brings together two perspectives: the reworked original version and a contemporary take on the classic that reimagines it for today’s club sets. The “Fair Exchange No Robbery” LP by Nicholas Craven and Boldy James was released on Near Mint and brings the producer and MC together in a clearly focused dialogue. Boldy James provides all the lyrics, while Nicholas Craven supplies the complete beat framework; the collaboration results in a precisely arranged record presented within the context of U.S. hip-hop. Released on September 30, 2022, the production combines Craven’s framing samples and dark grooves with Boldy James’ restrained, controlled delivery.

The recording process was overseen by Mike Shabb, with the mix by Roberto Viglione; the artwork was created by Stack Moolah, while the calligraphic accents come from Shokey. On this Near Mint LP, stripped-back instrumental passages sit alongside detailed breaks, giving Nicholas Craven’s rhythmic work room for concise punchlines. The Colored Vinyl edition of Sandra’s “The Long Play” LP was released by Polydor to commemorate the 40th anniversary of her 1985 debut. The anniversary edition brings the album’s original recordings back to LP and assembles the better-known singles, including “(I’ll Never Be) Maria Magdalena,” “In the Heat of the Night,” and “Little Girl,” in their original sequence. Michael Cretu remains the central producer responsible for most of the compositions and arrangements; his distinctive synthesizer work and production techniques shape the sound of the recordings and remain clearly audible on this edition.

Polydor presents the reissue as a Colored Vinyl edition, preserving the original’s lyrical and sonic identity without altering the track sequence. For the LP, the tracks were compiled to place the memorable melodies and 1980s production techniques front and center. The release thus documents an early chapter in Sandra’s career and makes the material from her debut album available on LP once again.
