After years of whispers, the once-mythical album from Wu-Tang affiliates KGB (Klik Ga Bow) is finally getting an official release. Emerging from Coney Island, the crew began with Asiatic (Adriatic), DJ Kin (Kinny Kin), and Ill Knob (Knowledge), later expanding with Raheem & Red/Infa-Red. In the late ’90s, they carved out a reputation in the underground—merging Wu-Tang’s raw edge with Brooklyn’s unforgiving lyrical style.The group moved within the same orbit as Deadly Venoms and MMO, managed by John “Mook” Gibbons under the Wu-Tang/Protect Ya Neck Records banner. They were part of the early Poison Clan Posse, a Wu-linked collective that never fully stepped into the spotlight despite its potential. Now their long-lost full album called Win, Lose or Draw is finally getting, and for the first time ever, a proper Vinyl (2lp, Album), CD (Glass mastering/Pro Press) & Cassette Tape format release. This album contains several mid 90's KGB unreleased tracks and a couple of songs taken from their 12"s, all of this material recorded between 94 and 96 was supposed to be used for their Win, Lose or Draw unreleased album, we also added some bonus tracks to make it a 15 track project.

In the early 1990s, South Central Cartel made a huge impact with their iconic albums, such as N Gatz We Truss and S.C.C. Presents Murder Squad Nationwide.

Between 1992 and 1995, the group released a total of five albums, whether under the name S.C.C., Murder Squad, or as the Havoc & Prodeje duo. These projects are now considered West Coast rap classics.

Fans are well acquainted with these albums and their legendary tracks, but a sixth project was supposed to be released during the same period.

Recorded in the early ’90s and kept in the South Central Cartel archives, these tracks had never been released… until now. A promotional cassette, titled M Squad Compilation and featuring a few tracks from this project, had been produced to showcase the group to record labels at the time. However, it was never distributed to the public.

This project was originally intended to be released as a full album, but the label in charge of the project was sold, and the release never happened.

Today, HCR is proud to present S.C.C. Presents Unreleased Project for the very first time, available on CD.

Logan S. Washington (a.k.a. Skell) was born in Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York City. His earliest hip-hop influence was A Tribe Called Quest, which helped shape his love for storytelling, rhythm, and perspective. By age 10, Logan had already begun writing, rhyming and describing the world around him before the inner city fully took hold. At 12, when his mother and father relocated the family to Charlotte, North Carolina, he leaned deeper into his craft, sharpening his skills and making a name for himself by killing cyphers in school and throughout the city.

At 15 years old, he met his mentor and producer Brian Dunovant, a turning point that helped define his musical direction. Soon after, Logan released his East Side cult classic „Icebergs" (1998), featuring Ekips, Tuff M.C., Peaches, K.I.M. and Supreme Killa. The project gained traction quickly, leading to interviews on Power 98 and performances at the legendary Sugar Shack. From that moment on, Logan was on his way, grounded in authenticity, lyricism and purpose.

"This album was born in Southeast Washington, D.C., in the winter of 1992 — a place where music was survival, loyalty was everything, and talent had to fight for air. That’s where a young rapper named Eric Jones, soon to be known as Vice Versa, began carving out a legacy that never got the shine it deserved. Vice Versa came up with his childhood friend Stan, a local DJ with crates full of vinyl and a hunger that matched his own. They spent nights in basements looping beats and freestyling until sunrise - sharpening a sound that mixed D.C. grit with New York lyricism. Word spread. Battles were won. Open mics were crushed. A voice was rising out of Southeast.

Everything changed when a street-connected visionary named Baron “B” Flemings stepped in with money, ambition, and a belief in Vice’s raw talent. Alongside him came E-Boogie (Eric Kennedy), a young industry insider with D.C. roots and New York access. Together they formed Rage One Recordings - a label funded by hustle, heart, and the kind of grind nobody teaches in music school. The sonic backbone of Rage One was Scotty Beats, a gifted engineer/producer who lived inside Horizon Studio and transformed raw ideas into polished records. With Scotty behind the boards and Vice Versa behind the mic, the crew began shaping the project that would become Basick Mentality.

Tracks like “Paradise,” “All Around The World,” “Guts & Glory,” and “Let Your Nuts Hang” were born during this era - created with passion, pressure, and the belief that D.C. had something to say. The team opened for legends like Busta Rhymes and EPMD, rehearsing day and night, chasing the breakthrough they knew was coming. The self-titled album has been released in limited quantities on CD only in 1997. But real life hit harder than any beat. As the team expanded its operations to Los Angeles and met with major labels, street life and circumstance took their toll. Jail time, mismanaged funds, broken trust, and life’s responsibilities pulled the crew apart just as the music was reaching its peak.

Then tragedy struck. In the same year, both pillars of this project - Scotty Beats and Vice Versa - were murdered. Two brilliant lives gone. Two futures erased. Two brothers lost forever. Scotty was killed protecting his property. Vice Versa was killed in a robbery in the same neighborhoods he once electrified with his voice. For years, the music was lost - buried in memories, scattered across cities, carried only by those who refused to let the story die.

This re-release is more than a project. It is a resurrection. A tribute. A testament to a crew that gave everything. To Vice Versa. To Scotty Beats. To Rage One. To the dream that lived, died, and now lives again.

This one is 100% Hardcore, street shit, with some incredible Boom Bap productions (cooked by Antlive). You can't beat this, ILL Release. And nice contrast with the UNO's album, but still you will hear some conscious lyrics in this one. On a side note, for those you knew this album you will notice we have removed a track, that was less good in our humble opinion, to replace it with an mid 90's unreleased Heat that fits the project better.

"I met Al Katraz aka Roq Z in 1996 after he bought studio time. I was so impressed by him because he embodied all the skills of a top east coast New York Mc being from Detroit. I offered Roq the opportunity to record an album together in a similar fashion like Cuban Links. I would do the beats & he would rhyme with my assistance. In 1997 we released the Serum."

Antlive is a Detroit Hip Hop Veteran and with his group Mf911 (Mega Force 911 or Mother Fucking Emergency) they put Detroit on the map, way before Eminem or Jay Dee. Jay Dee by the way produced a beat for Mf911 for the track called 900 (in 93!) (Original Jay Dee Remix)

Catch A Fire is the Wailers' fifth studio album and their major label debut for Island Records — becoming an international success after its release in 1973. The album has nine songs, two of which were written and composed by Peter Tosh; the remaining seven were by Bob Marley. While Bunny Wailer is not credited as a writer, the group's writing style was a collective process.
Although Marley may have been the main voice, every member of the Wailers made valuable contributions and they were never more united in their vision and sound.
Catch A Fire did for reggae what Please Please Me, the first Beatles album, had done for pop and rock exactly a decade earlier. An album of revolutionary genius, which combined perfect timing with lasting cultural significance, Catch A Fire laid a foundation stone for the career of the world's first and indeed only reggae superstar and established a bridgehead between the deep roots music of Jamaica and the commercial pop mainstream of the First World. Its release marked the moment that reggae truly did begin to "catch fire" on the international stage.
The result was an album with a groove that was languid, soulful, and sun-drenched, yet lean and taut as a coiled spring. The bass and drum parts — supplied by Aston "Family Man" Barrett and his younger brother Carlton Barrett, respectively — were welded together by the distinctive staccato scratch-strokes of Marley's rhythm guitar. The contributions of the late Detroit producer James DeWitt Yancey -better known to the world as J Dilla- to the world of hip-hop can't be overstated, and nowhere is his legacy more apparent than his work as a member of Slum Village. A founding member of the trio, (alongside rappers T3 and Baatin) Dilla provided the group's distinctly esoteric, free-wheeling sound, built around winding basslines, quirky drumbeats, subtle low-end frequencies, and classic jazz & soul samples. Against the backdrop of Dilla's rich production, T3 and Baatin's free-flowing style of rhyming would also earn wide critical praise, leading to comparisons as the successors to A Tribe Called Quest. All these elements would come together in a truly prodigious fashion in the early 00s, when Dilla and Slum Village would release their second studio album Fan-Tas-Tic Volume 2. The group had already made critically acclaimed waves with Volume 1, but few could have predicted at the time of its release that Dilla's production, which combined portions of alternative, gangsta, and soul hip-hop, meshed with T3 and Baatin's deft lyrical flows, would become such a far-reaching influence. Enter the Abstract Orchestra. Helmed by composer and saxophonist Rob Mitchell, this 18-piece ensemble has become renowned for their distinct sound, which reinterprets some of the most famous hip-hop productions of all time (right on down to the sample material) into a unique blend of big band jazz and live hip-hop. The group has toured alongside the likes of John Legend, Amy Winehouse, and Adele among others, and have provided live backup for Mos Def, and many more. They previously have released orchestral versions of revered hip-hop record Madvillian and a tribute to Dilla to critical acclaim as well.
On this, the 20th anniversary of Fan-Tas-Tic Volume 2's release, the Abstract Orchestra are proud to pay tribute to this highly innovative hip-hop classic. Across two volumes of vinyl and a 2-CD set of studio recordings, the big band applies their own jazzy spin to Dilla's classic productions, with occasional assistance from the surviving members of Slum Village themselves. The end result is Fantastic 2020, a hybrid blend of smooth, funky brass rhythms with boom-bap sensibilities that is just the kind of tribute that an often unsung, but highly influential group like Slum Village deserves, and is a more than welcome addition to any Dilla

Who's UNO the Prophet ?

Jamarhl Crawford (uno The Prophet) is a Writer, Poet, MC, Activist and Organizer. He is the Author of two books 1996 "Prophecy: Reflections on Life & Love from a Black Perspective" and the 2008 "Prophecy: Exemption & Redemption" as well as two CD's "Prophetic Visions" and "Beware of False Prophets" under his Hip-Hop pseudonym UNO The Prophet.

A.D.O.R. first came onto the scene in 1992 with "Let It All Hang Out" produced by his old friend and fellow Money Earnin Mount Vernon resident Pete Rock, who by 1992 was already an acclaimed producer and cited as one of the best in the biz. It was an instant classic and a hit in the summer of 1992, was driven by Pete Rock's irresistible horn loop and the tight flow of A.D.O.R.'s rhymes. A.D.O.R. toured with major acts and made television appearances building on the buzz created by "Let It All Hang Out". In 1994 he followed up with a second single, "One for the Trouble", produced by K-Def and the legendary Queensbridge producer Marley Marl. "One for the Trouble" signaled that plans were underway for a debut album on Atlantic titled The Concrete. Despite his successful run at the major label, A.D.O.R. was let go from his contract with Atlantic in 1995 without The Concrete being released, reportedly because of disputes over creative decisions, even though promotional items were released and the catalogue number 82443 was assigned to the release. As most of you know, we sadly lost @truador on January 1st of this year. We kept in touch throughout the years and he often sent me videos of newly released music that sampled his voice or newly recorded tracks. After Eddy's passing we got in touch with the new head of Tru Reign Records, his son @_eddycastellanoss_ who's committed to keep the legacy of his father alive. As "The Concrete" remained one of the most requested releases we felt it was only right to honor A.D.O.R's classic with a beautiful reissue.

There will be a double vinyl gatefold edition available in 3 versions, with extensive credits and printed inner sleeves. A CD version and a tape version will be available as well in very limited quantities.

Originally released in 1997 on CD only, the sophomore album "Everything Is Nice" by Prose & Concepts finally gets the full reissue treatment. The group comprised of MC Dope, SharkE, Mic Dub, Beatnik, DJ Ace and Rawi were sporting the Seattle underground sound of heavy drums and dusty loops paired with cuts back and forth.

In addition, the album includes the "Bass Camp Demo" version of "Higher Places". The original track might be known to diggers from the excellent "14 Fathoms Deep" compilation released on Loosegroove Records in 1996 showcasing the vivid Seattle Hip-Hop scene in the mid-90's.

Apathy (Demigodz, Army of the Pharaohs) and O.C. (D.I.T.C. - Diggin' In The Crates) combine forces to form 'Perestroika', a supergroup inspired by the cold war being waged on the rap industry.

Anti-mainstream propaganda has become a bit of a cliche, so instead of speaking out against the unflattering direction that today's hip hop music has gone in, Apathy and O.C. have taken action by building a pillar in the ruins of what's left of true school hip hop.

Picture the first time you heard Wu-Tang Clan's debut album "Enter The Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers" and were immediately swept up in to a dark Kung Fu movie, with the sound effects and painted visuals - "Perestroika" is intended to have the same effect... except it transports you to Cold War, Soviet Russia. From the Kremlin, to small villages affected by the economically devastating times of Perestroika, this album is a salute to the underdog and all those who are able to survive the coldest winters.

Not entirely conceptual however, the album allows both wordsmiths to flex their greatest strengths over solid head-nodding East Coast-styled production. Showing up for the cause, guests Celph Titled, Slaine, Marvalyss, Kappa Gamma and Jus Cuz add to the palate alongside production that is mostly handled by Apathy, with MoSS and Illinformed (The Four Owls) contributing tracks as well. In a time of worldly political conflict and scandals, this project plays as the perfect soundtrack to the madness.

From late 1994 to early 1996, the members of Camp Lo worked with producer Ski on a series of demos in Ski's home studios at Valentine Ave in the Bronx, 110th Street in Spanish Harlem, and 1520 Sedgewick Ave. In the Bronx (the home of hip hop's first parties with Kool DJ Herc). These cassette demos were the foundation for the group's debut album, as well as a collection of slick tracks that never made it to the public. Found in a basement nearly twenty years after they were recorded, these demos show Camp Lo at their finest, and represent that true 1990s hip hop flavor, On The Way Uptown.

Just one year after the release of Brazilian Disco Boogie Sounds’ compilation, Favorite Recordings presents the 2nd edition of its acclaimed series.

At the control this time is French DJ and producer Charles Maurice, digging again in his collection and travelling to Brazil for the occasion in order to find some local hidden treasures. The result comes as nine additional obscure hits from the Brazilian Funk-Boogie-Disco scene during the years of 1977 to 1984.

At that time musicians and arrangers such as Lincoln Olivetti, Robson Jorge, and Oberdan Magalhães along with Banda Black Rio were responsible for the new music scene. They’d dominated the studios with sophisticated and original arrangements that have forever transformed Brazilian musical. This music, at that point, had gained a new style and great international respect that has remained still.

Brazilian Disco Boogie Sounds Vol.2 pays tribute to this great era, coming out in a deluxe vinyl edition with old-school tip-on jacket, including notes and original artworks.
