After the acclaimed Bar Mediterraneo, Massimo Di Lena and Lucio Aquilina return with People Of The Moon, expanding their sound into a space of creative freedom. The first single “Sciallà” (2025) introduced this direction: dance as catharsis, not escape. The title track reflects a quiet resilience-persistent rather than triumphant. “Onenon”, featuring Tom Misch, channels Mediterranean brit-funk, while “Acelera”, with María José Llergo, evokes a flamenco-tinged pursuit of the unattainable.

“Puleza” recalls Nuova Napoli with driving energy and vintage synths, while “Shway Shway”, sung by Celinatique, captures the album’s orbital flow-measured, rich, and rhythmically complex, echoing afrobeat explorations with Tony Allen.

Melody remains central, as in “Carè”. Across ten tracks, falling, flying, and dancing merge in a suspended groove. Gabriel Prado’s “Ondas Do Mar” embodies this pull: a cyclical motion, like the tides—irresistible, transformative, and alive within us.

Four years after Nuova Napoli, Nu Genea are back with Bar Mediterraneo, a new album and journey, which projects the sounds of the Neapolitan duo formed by Massimo Di Lena and Lucio Aquilina even further. Nu Genea's Bar Mediterraneo is an idea of a shared place where people meet and fuse together; a space that leaves its doors open to travellers and their lives, always exposed to the whims of fate. Some of this can be experienced through the multitude of sounds that come together in the tracks, layers of different acoustic instruments, voices and synthesizers merging in a unique musical blend. Opening up to the voices of many different people, separated by languages but united by the sea and the music, Nu Genea's hometown, Napoli, becomes a true place of encounter. You can hear this all along. In "Gelbi", a gorgeously deep and propulsive Ney flute plunges into murky waters of the melancholic Tunisian dialect sung by Marzouk Mejri. In "Marechia'", unbridled happiness and sun ooze from the delicate vocals of Célia Kameni and create an acrobatic bridge between French and Neapolitan language. In "Straniero", your soul is arrested from the moment the slow spell-binding mandolin ignites the hypnotic patterns recorded by the legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen. In "Bar Mediterraneo", the title track, bittersweet guitar’s riffs, analog waves and choirs are overwhelming the song giving you what you would like to hear on a boat trip along the Amalfi Coast. Nu Genea couldn't afford to overlook their firmly anchored roots into the Neapolitan culture and its dialect with "Tienaté", where the power of neapolitan language (interpreted by Fabiana Martone) supports those quarter-tone strings and the uncessant folk-disco groove that spreads to the entire song. In "Praja Magia", repetitive mandolin riffs lead the song, giving space to a choral yet tight vocal line that speaks of Varcaturo, a village close to Napoli. In "Rire", a volley of poetic, deceptively laidback, lyrical fury interpreted by Sicilian Marco Castello intimately combines with a highly musical, multitextured instrumental backbone and the swoon of a chanson in its heart. In "La Crisi'', the lyrics of a Raffaele Viviani’s poem from 1930 have been adapted to a laidback jazz-funk groove in full NG style. In "Vesuvio", revaluing the evocative verses and powerful mantra of Vesuvio, Nu Genea re-adapted to the dancefloor a folk song by the working-class band E’ Zezi from Pomigliano D'Arco, combining the voices of a school choir with Jupiter-6 arpeggios and bold percussions. Bar Mediterraneo is the place where people constantly return to transform curiosity into participation, tradition into sharing, unfamiliar into familiar. When travellers come through its “doors”, carrying their treasures of words and emotions, they aren’t strangers any more. They take part in a shared experience, enriching themselves and others by leading to unexpected musical journeys.

The 7-inch “Black Hole Edits #8” by Mr. Thelonious features on its A-side the track “Mysterious (Jazz Dub),” a focused piece of edit work that distills classic jazz and rare groove elements into a DJ-friendly, concise format. The release is part of the Black Hole Edits series and is explicitly aimed at club and turntable use; the pressing emphasizes loopable breaks and dub-style post-production.

Musically, the track leans on warm Rhodes and sax tones, stripped-down drum figures, and reverb-heavy dub versions, giving the piece a character that oscillates between jazz and reggae. Mr. Thelonious appears here as an edit artist whose work is defined by precise cutting and a strong sense for danceable dramatic arcs — a practice already evident in his other edit releases.

Berlin lo-fi crooner Der Assistent returns with "Ultramarin", a sun-faded suite of soft-focus pop, Balearic grooves and late-night yacht moods drifting between languages, moods and references – slightly surreal, and quietly melancholic. Following the tropical haze of its predecessor "Amnesie am Amazonas", his third album makes a slightly bigger splash: classic late-80s digital pianos, downbeat grooves and flashes of dub-reggae intertwine with subtle soprano and alto saxophone lines that drift between lounge melancholy and nocturnal jazz. Laid-back opening cut “Wenn der Scirocco weht” pays homage to Japanese lovers rock, while the dubby downbeat title track celebrates the color blue in French, English, Italian and German, echoing situationist slogans and painter Yves Klein’s idea of “the invisible becoming visible.” Lead single “Mann am Telefon” dives into hazy yacht-pop and lo-fi soul, gradually unfolding into an instrumental outro that recalls the early synth romanticism of Vangelis. Across the album, Der Assistent traces a playful tale of split personalities – with subtle nods to Fight Club and Blade Runner – culminating in the lush closing 80s R&B ballad “Total Confusion”.

“Macareno” by U-Bend appears as a one-off, single-sided 12" on their own U-Bend label and marks the sixth release on the Benders imprint. The Bend brothers have unearthed a long-forgotten track and carefully reimagined it; the original has been turned into their own version that combines familiar melodies with fresh edits. Renewal meets respect for the source material.

On the vinyl you’ll find a focused remix clearly intended for club use: driving beats, pointed breaks, and a love of arrangement that turns the track into something capable of clearing the dance floor. At the same time, the production remains mischievous and ironic, so the rendition oscillates between nostalgia and a contemporary approach. Not everyone will agree — the label itself describes the record as polarizing, a classic Marmite release.

The single is conceived as a special edition, aimed at DJs and collectors looking for an unusual, striking track for their sets. The accompanying notes explicitly advise caution when playing it out; it’s precisely this mix of surprise factor and targeted club readiness that makes “Macareno” an idiosyncratic statement from U-Bend on the Benders imprint. 'Amigo' marries lush strings and loose percussion with call and reposes vocals and MPB vocals in Portuguese that lend a natural flair. 'Disco Samba' picks up the energy and is just that - a clap-laced and speedy groove with elegant strings and expressive vocals. 'Do Grito' means more into funk with its low slung grooves but is packed with vocals, chanting, steel drum hits and horns for a fully vivacious sound. The 12" released on Música De Baleares featuring the tracks “No Me Muevo / Era De La Razón” presents two classic NAD edits that were issued exclusively as DJ promo vinyl. On the A-side, “No Me Muevo” appears in the version reworked by NAD; the label text “Miembros Privados de NAD Editar” points directly to the edit’s lineage. According to the supplied notes, the B-side, “Era De La Razón,” received particular support in DJ sets, including plays by DJ Harvey. This physical format underscores the focus on DJ practice and in-club use.

Another Taste's debut brings together a blend of boogie, 70’s funk and obscure disco - birthed from unearthing forgotten sounds and reinventing them for the modern era. A recipe they’ve been cooking up successfully over the last years in the studio, through their label Space Grapes and on tour through some of Europe’s finest stages.

Another Taste is a Rotterdam-born concept band formed by a group of longtime friends, consisting of Bobby van Putten (keys), Bob Roche (bass), Barend Lippens (keys) and Teun van Zoggel (drums).

Inspired by the obscurity and the do-it-yourself approach of private press culture of the late 1970s and 80s, their first releases were mostly a product of late night sessions between the four of them at the studio of their co-producer Danilo Plessow (mcde), leading to the founding of Space Grapes Records.

The band’s first songs were released under various pseudonyms such as Mad Honey, Galxtc or Jambonne and quickly gathered them a loyal following and support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Kenny Dope and many more.

Another Taste ripples their sound beyond the studio and onto the stage. In their live performances they introduce additional band members in Sarina Voorn (Vox), Diogo Carvalho (percussion) and Florian Verhagen (guitar). A core group with whom they’ve played at prestigious festivals such as Worldwide or Kappa Futur and legendary venues such as Jazz Cafe London, New Morning Paris, and Tresor Berlin.

The March-scheduled album release is the latest iteration of the band’s evolution. From the A-side opener "Turn Up" to the B-side closer "Perfect Night," the album is a testament to Another Taste’s ceaseless creative exploration. "Body To Body / Dreaming A Dream" by Mr K is released as a 7" on Most Excellent Limited (catalog number MXMRK-2079) and brings together two versions tailored for the B-side and A-side: "Body To Body" (5:27) and "Dreaming A Dream" (5:26). Both versions are labeled as 7-inch edits by Mr K and clearly aim to make album versions compact and functional for use in DJ sets.

Mr K, known as Danny Krivit, has spent decades establishing himself as a meticulous editor and DJ; his reworks are characterized by nuanced emphasis on vocal passages, careful tightening of arrangements, and a keen sense of build-up in a club context. This preserves the melodic core while pulling back unnecessary sections to improve transitions and playability.

This 7" slots into the series of Mr K edits on Most Excellent, which regularly adapts rare album cuts into compact singles; for DJs, this means a functional, ready-to-use version of the original tracks. Reissue of a lost hit by the British composer Kevan Frost, now championed and given a brand-new Dub Mixby Mark Grusane. Up for pre-order now and duelate-March on our RSS series!

Kevan Frost grew up in Jos, Nigeria where he became a self-taught musician and developed a deep understanding of rhythm and melody. In the 90's, Frost was a session musician for many studios in London, oneof these was unable to pay him so they gave him a few free days in the studio and the result was"Give It Up" as he explains:

"I went in and recorded all the music in a day, and the vocals and mix on day two. This was the days of only having 24 tracks available on tape so I programmed the drums, bass and keyboard parts on C-Lab which was only available on the Atari computer and the samples I made on my Akai S-1000 sampler. Full of floppy disks I went in early on day one and printed all of this on tape. I then recorded the guitar parts. Day two was me layering the lead vocals and Backing vocal parts as quick as I could before starting to mix."

However, the track fell into obscurity with no major label backing or marketing budget. A friend of Mark Grusane’s came across it in Brooklynat the African Record Centre and it eventually ended up in Mark's hands and from there he editedthe original track to a more stripped-back dub mix and began playing it out to great effect on dancefloors.

After a bit of digging, we tracked down Kevan and a fully licensed reissue is due on Rush Hour in late March2026, including a brand new ‘Dub Mix’ from Mark Grusane.

For almost 10 years and with 3 albums on the clock, Voilaaa has established itself with a unique style, reviving
African rhythms and atmospheres in the colors of Disco dancefloors and Funky arrangements, all often
accompanied by lyrics and vocals tinged with humor and commitment.
As a result, the Afro-Tropical adventure launched by producer Bruno “Patchworks” Hovart today leaves behind
a host of hits (“On te l’avait dit”, “Spies Are Watching Me”, “Ben Bene La”, …), as well as trips around the globe
and as many gigs and festivals, but also and above all numerous and lasting collaborations with singers like

The “Hit & Run Joe Claussell / Walter Gibbons Mixes” by Loleatta Holloway reissues the classic disco track in a 12" edition specifically conceived for the dancefloor, bringing together the historic Walter Gibbons mixes and the later re‑edits by Joaquin Joe Claussell. The release focuses on extended versions, a cappella elements and DJ‑friendly dub passages that fuse Holloway’s vocal presence with rhythmic depth and definition.

The significance of Walter Gibbons’s version can be traced historically: Gibbons was given the multitracks and reconstructed the song as a long, percussion‑focused 12" mix in which orchestral elements were pared back in favor of a tightly paced groove; this treatment is regarded as an early example of the remix itself becoming an autonomous work of art. The original track was produced by Norman Harris, whose arrangement supplied the raw material that Gibbons then radically reshaped.

Joe Claussell approaches “Hit and Run” from a different angle: his versions work with expanded layers of percussion, Afro‑Cuban‑inflected interval patterns and spatial delay effects that repeatedly place Holloway’s voice in new contexts; alongside a longer “Boriqua‑Style” rework, there are instrumental dub passages that open the track up as a flexible field for rhythmic and sonic experimentation. This 12" is aimed at listeners who value both disco history and contemporary editorial reworks.

The 12" release "Rising Star / Deep Song" brings together two rare recordings from producer Richard Hewson’s archives and is released on Rush Hour. The record reveals early stages of Hewson’s studio work and shines a light on seldom-heard variations of his later project, The RAH Band.

"Rising Star (Cosmix)" began in 1984 as a vocal single with Debbie Sharp; Hewson transformed the original into a percussive, cosmic disco take he aptly titled "Cosmix." For this new version, he made targeted use of his newly acquired Bel delay effect unit, which at the time enabled key experiments in his home studio and shaped the track with echo and spatial textures. This version emphasizes rhythmic layering and a playful handling of delay effects.

"Deep Song" goes back even further, to the late‑seventies phase of Richard Hewson Orchestra productions, and forms the creative blueprint from which The RAH Band would later emerge. Hewson wrote, produced, and assembled the basic track at home before adding strings and vocals on top; the composition was strongly influenced by his admiration for Miles Davis’s "Kind of Blue" and was originally released in 1979 as a B-side under an enigmatic alias.

What is there left for him to do? Establish a label of his own! “It’s The Arps” is the starting signal for Olsen. And what a splendid one it is. Created from scratch and solely on the mythical synthesizer ARP 2600 (check www.letsnerd.com for help), it features four tracks (reads instant classics) that couldn’t be a better followup to his 2011 super hit EP “Ragysh”. Towering over the assortment is the laser crime scene called “Inspector Norse”. Defying genres and blinkers, this is finest goose bumps dance music that makes you whistle along, laughing and crying all at the same time – but the rest isn’t half bad either. Side A carries the subtitle "Jazz Dub Edit" and Side B presents "Nothing In This World Edit" — compact versions trimmed for groove and loopability, intentionally designed for use on the turntables.

The "Till The Doctor Gets Back" 12" by Quiet Village was released on The Quiet Village label and brings together a distinctive take on the song by Barry Reynolds as well as a dub remix by Mad Professor. The A-side features Quiet Village's version of the track, while the B-side contains the dub version created by Mad Professor, making the release highlight both song-oriented structure and classic dub aesthetics.

Quiet Village translate the melodic otherworldliness and gentle pulse of the original into their characteristic, expansive sonic universe: extended reverbs, carefully placed delays, and warm synth textures ensure that the take on feels both familiar and new. The production remains understated, focusing on atmospheric details and subtle rhythmic variations, so the result shifts between Balearic aesthetics, downtempo, and dub.

Quiet Village is the project of Joel Martin and Matt "Radio Slave" Edwards, who have shaped it for years with a preference for spacious arrangements and nostalgically tinged soundscapes; for this edition, they also relied for the first time on an external dub treatment by Mad Professor. The 12" “Make A Move On Me” by Joey Montenegro (Dave Lee), released on Groovin, brings together all the key versions of the track in a single edition: the long “Club Mix” (8:54) as well as the “Original Disco Mix” and the “Dubwize Re‑Organisation.” The release collects the different reworks on a physical format and appears under license from Z Records.

Musically, “Make A Move On Me” fuses classic disco aesthetics with contemporary house production; its characteristic features include prominent clav licks, rhythmic guitar, subtle piano passages, and a distinctly funky bass line, all topped off with powerful vocals. Dave Lee, who also works under various other aliases, has revisited the song several times over the course of his career and in 2023 delivered a deliberately disco‑oriented new version that transfers the song’s internal melodies into a stripped‑down, dancefloor‑focused arrangement.

Key contributors include Taka Boom on vocals and Michele Chiavarini on keys; the tracks are based on compositions by Dave Lee (with Yvonne Stevens) and originated in the orbit of Z Productions. The 12" edition thus documents both Dave Lee’s production signature and the licensing relationship with Z Records, while the pressing will be brought to market in 2026 on Groovin.

Azoto is a project by Celso Valli, one of the most important exponents of Italo-disco. Disco Fizz contain ‘San Salvador’, one of the most covered disco tracks of all time, which has reared its head under countless of remixes and cover versions, however if you dig a little deeper this album is packed full of incredible and timeless italo disco: ‘Anytime Or Place’ literally jumps out the speakers to get you moving, while ‘Exalt-Exalt’ showcases their take on the darker side of electronic disco. A Deeper Life, Chaos In The CBD’s debut album over 10 years in the making, is nostalgic for the duo’s nature-filled youth, exploring the magical coastline and lush rainforest of New Zealand. “The title refers to our childhood, which was idyllic,” says Ben. “It was just the sun, the sand, the sea, waterfalls, birds and fish…” The album’s blissful setting is also depicted on the album cover: a painting, by a childhood friend, of the beach where they grew up in Devonport. A Deeper Life whirls that profound love of house music and wide-ranging influences – from Brazilian to R&B, ambient to Italo to deep house and downtempo pop – into a serene, cohesive whole with their signature finesse. The result is an international dance sound that feels unmistakably like Chaos and ebbs and flows from the beach party to the club to the afterhours. On the album they’ve teamed up with a number of US legends and married their vocals with the UK underground: Josh Milan of house pioneers Blaze brings his soulful vocals to the bossa nova beats of ‘I Wanna Tell Somebody,’ a future jazz-dance anthem. Unheralded Chicago house hero and Larry Heard collaborator Lee Pearson Jr. goes deep over ‘More Time’s broken beat flex. And on ‘Maintaining My Peace’, the brothers have matched veteran house singer-songwriter Stephanie Cooke with UK grime MC Novelist, on a slinky LDN interpretation of LA hip-hop and g-funk. Turbotito and Ragz's electrifying Naya Beat label has curated a cultured list of remixers to add their spin to the work of legendary Indian vocalist Asha Puthli. This essential remix album features Yuksek, Maurice Fulton, Psychemagik, Kraak & Smaak, Jitwam, and Turbotito & Ragz. Naya Beat, which translates from Hindi as 'new beat', is focused on uncovering foundational electronic sounds from the subcontinent and South Asian diaspora through reissues, remixes and compilations. It found quick success with its first release, 'Naya Beat Volume 1: South Asian Dance and Electronic Music 1983 - 1992', followed by a rare 1985 Hindi New Wave album by Pinky Ann Rihal and more recently a ground-breaking compilation ‘Awaaz’ uncovering Bollywood electro and leftfield 80s original soundtrack recordings. Hot off their highly sought after EP of Dimitri From Paris’ seminal remixes of Asha Puthli’s iconic track ‘Space Talk’, the label now offers up the first of two full-length releases based around her music. For this LP, Naya Beat tracked down the long mythologised original stems and recordings of Puthli's most seminal albums, including ‘The Devil is Loose’, and working closely with Asha, they have tasked a series of producers inspired by her work to remix her music. Yuksek opens up with a pumping disco remix of 'I Am Song (Sing Me)' awash with uplifting synths and big claps next to the original vocals, which soar to the heavens. The seminal 'Space Talk' is remixed by Maurice Fulton into super steamy and late-night territory. The live drums and jumbled percussion are lit up with soulful chords as Puthli's carefully delivered vocals seduce up top. 'Lies' (Kraak & Smaak Remix) rides on fat-bottomed drums and bass that unfold with a dub swagger beneath a nebulous eco-system of cosmic synths and dramatic vocals. The 12" "Me Voy Ahora Joaquin Joe Claussell Remixes Purple Vinyl Edition," released on Fania, places Ismael Miranda’s voice in a new context: classic salsa elements are reshaped by Joaquin “Joe” Claussell into long, dance‑oriented arrangements for the club setting. The release is a spin‑off of the work Claussell undertook with the Africa‑Caribe project drawn from the Fania archives and is aimed at both DJs and collectors.

The A‑side offers an extended "Joaquin’s Boriqua Version," in which percussion, trumpet, piano, and string‑like layers are woven into a dense Latin house fabric; the length and clarity of the individual instruments give the production room to unfold. On the B‑side there is a more compact "Joaquin’s Latin 12\" Dub Version," which pares back rhythmic elements and shifts the focus to spatial effects and DJ‑friendliness. Both versions follow Claussell’s approach of rearranging original tracks while combining organic playing with modern production tools.
