The "Io (Limited 2LP+10" Edition)" by MLO is being released on Forever as an elaborately designed reissue of the album originally issued in 1994, bringing together the duo’s sound art in a gatefold double LP with an additional limited 10" single included. Jon Tye and Pete Smith created the work in the early nineties as a series of slow, suite-like compositions, which are now being made available again.

Musically, "Io" operates in the tension between classically influenced sound painting and ambient electronics: long chordal expanses, organically evolving drones, and pointillistic, arrhythmic disruptions shape slowly unfolding pieces. Influences from Satie, Debussy, and Cage meet the experimental tendencies of the British scene of that era; the album privileges motivic development over traditional melodic lines and relies on a reduced, carefully constructed sonic architecture.

The new edition includes the original eight tracks plus an exclusive 10" with two previously unreleased versions of "Wimborne" — a one-of-a-kind item for collectors. Tracks such as "Moon Over Lagos," "Ghost," and the two-part suite "In Search Of Lost Time" showcase the album’s range between meditative ambience and subtly rhythmic texture.

With this edition, Forever highlights MLO’s historical significance within 1990s British electronic music and the craft-like precision of the sound design that defines the project. Bringing together the original album structure with previously unreleased material turns this release into both a documentary and musical tribute.

"Dancing Queen" is emblematic of the transition from orchestrated pop music to the dance-oriented format of the 1970s. Digi Dub re-enter the vinyl world with a handful of archival 10” releases, the first collating tracks harvested from four releases which originally came out in the early 90s.

The Aliens EP provides a perfect showcase of the adventurous and experimental approach that the label took at a time when breakbeat hardcore was starting to fragment. Taking none of the paths that their peers took, the artists in the Digi Dub stable infused their breakbeat science with a playful dubwise methodology to create idiosyncratic dance music operating at the interstice between modern dub mechanics and rave dynamics that was a premonition of much of the experimental bass music that the UK has become known for.

The first track comes from the trio L.S. Diezel whose Alien In The Woods marries cosmic interference with a steppers reinforced breakbeat and a tough digital bassline. The Diezel boys are joined by label owner Lee Berwick under his Launch DAT pseudonym for the second track Rougher Than A Lion. Beginning with what sounds like a sort of distorted tribal ritual, the track erupts into a symphony of skittering breakbeats, processed jazz lines, bursts of acid and discombobulated ragga chat.

On the second side the collaboration between Diezel and DAT continues with Poor Mans Glory that sees a weighty sped-up funk break allied with a suitably robust dub bassline overlaid with bursts of rasta invocation rattling around in the echo chamber. L.S. Diezel’s Get Your Spear Out rounds out the package with a clangorous proto-dubstep breaker forging the link between a Jah Shaka dance and Horsepower Productions.

With the original 12s now rare as rocking horse shit, grab yourself a 10” and make your bass bins smile.

With the first pressing sold out, it is now being Repressed with a redesigned jacket. The new design also pays homage to the US edition of THE Clash release. Timed to coincide with the Japan tour by Massive ATTACK’s Daddy G and Don Letts.

True to Don Letts’ spirit of constantly reinventing himself and staying active on the front lines, this is a modern, electric dub version.

Contributors include former B.A.D. member Dan Donovan and dub artist Dubmatix. Also featured is Mighty Crown / Masta Simon, who joins as the introduction MC after deepening ties with Don Letts during the 2024 Don Letts Japan tour. At Don Letts’ Tokyo show in 2024, Masta Simon unexpectedly grabbed the mic during Don Letts’ DJ set and whipped the floor into a frenzy; here, he delivers an intro MC that feels like a reenactment of that night. With Mighty Crown currently on hiatus, this special dub version is made even more exceptional by Masta Simon’s participation for Don Letts.

The jacket uses a previously unseen take of the iconic photo of Don Letts confronting a line of police—best known as the cover image for "the Clash/BLACK Market Clash". Designed by graphic artist Kosuke Kawamura, the artwork is something you’ll want to display side-by-side with THE Clash’s original 10-inch.

The Du-Rites - Jay Mumford (drums, keys, kalimba, percussion) and Pablo Martin (guitar, bass, keys, percussion) - have long been champions of gritty, unfiltered funk. After dropping an impressive seven albums in six years, the pair eased off full-length releases following 2022’s Plug It In.But they never stopped creating. Jay kept active as a session drummer (Gnarls Barkley, Kelly Finnigan, Just Blaze), landed a sample on a Vampire Weekend track, and toured with guitarist Adrian Quesada. Pablo hit the road with UK singer-songwriter Belouis Some, while continuing to produce and compose between tour dates. Together, the duo maintained their weekly NYC residency and rolled out a handful of digital singles to keep the creative gears turning.

Now, after a three-year break from album-making, The Du-Rites return with Tenement - a tight, razor-focused collection released via UK-based Village Live Records. The EP is classic Du-Rites: rugged drums, warped synths, mutant funk guitar and a relentless commitment to groove.

Guest flautist Seth Hachen elevates the hazy, abstract opener “In Du Time,” while the title track taps into pure, hard-hitting instrumental funk. “5 on the Floor” pushes the boundaries with kalimba textures and beautifully off-kilter drum patterns, before “Bucky’s Groove” snaps everything back into place with certified b-boy breakbeats. Feedback Moves kicks off 2023 with a new record by @xcrswx and Lolina. @xcrswx are Crystabel Riley (drum-/human-skin) and Seymour Wright (saxophone), they released ‘Call Time/Hard Out’ on Feedback Moves in 2020. Lolina is an electronic and digital musician, who has previously released music as Inga Copeland and was a member of the band Hype Williams. Their collaborative relationship stems back to 2020. Lolina invited @xcrswx to contribute new work to a radio residency on NTS. They made 3 pieces played across 3 episodes. After these were broadcast, further ideas were exchanged which led to a collaborative audio-visual piece, streamed on Cafe Oto’s website in February 2021. They also performed as a trio live at Café OTO in 2022. The artists now present a split 10” vinyl. @xcrswx weave the above-mentioned pieces into a 10 minute piece titled ‘fixes’. The duo strip their sound to bare components. Beginning with the sound of fireworks, the pair then work through stuttered snare shots and warbled, interplaying saxophone. Lolina presents ‘fm’; some of her strangest and most subtle work to date. Echoing and furthering the abstract turntablism found on previous records ‘Who Is Experimental Music?’ and ‘Fast Fashion’. We hear found sounds, close and distant, rhythmically gathered and dissolved in a swirl of dub tone and timbre. Tracks have had early play on NTS Radio, Clydebuilt Radio and are expected to be played on BBC Radio 3’s ‘Late Junction’ and ‘Freeness’ show’s.

Mono have long drawn equal inspiration from the light and dark of life, spawning more than two decades of musical turbulence and melodic transcendence. Heaven Vol. 1 marks the beginning of a new annual tradition from Mono: A new EP released on Christmas Day each year, leaning into the light at precisely the time when we need it the most - surrounded by loved ones and hopeful for what the turn of the calendar may bring us. Recorded by Takaakira `Taka' Goto at his home studio in Japan (with drums recorded by Amak Golden at Golden Hive Studio in Prague) - and mixed by Rafael Anton Irisarri and Jeremy deVine at Black Knoll Studio in New York - Heaven Vol. 1 finds Mono at their most hopeful and cinematic. Of each of Heaven Vol. 1's three tracks, Mono offers these words: Lucia: "This song was written when our beloved longtime partner Jeremy (the owner of our American label Temporary Residence Ltd.) welcomed his second child. The song is constructed with two parts; the first part celebrates the birth of a new life and the second part heads towards dreams and hope. We wrote this song with the feeling of Santa Claus riding a sleigh through the snowstorm, smiling, jumping into the swirl of pure white light and carrying many dreams." Smile: "We drew upon the snowy scenery of Christmas that we experienced when we were young. Your exhaled breath is white. Commissioned for Fela Day in Amsterdam Paradiso Noord, Raul Monsalve y Los Forajidos celebrates the legacy of the father of Afrobeat, Fela Anikolapu Kuti, with this new 10’’ vinyl on Super Sonic Jazz Records, where Nigerians rhythms travel the Atlantic ocean to meet Venezuelan Calipso , sangueos, and more.

First in Venezuela, Monsalve played with a number of bands before forming the first incarnation of his Forajidos band. A move to Paris, via London, led to opportunities to share stages with a vast array of musical giants, not least of all the legendary Nigerian saxophonist Orlando Julius, as well as the Heliocentrics, Venezuelan master percussionist Orlando Poleo and members of Fela Kuti’s legendary bands, Afrika 70 and Egypt 80.

“Calipso Time” is none other than a cover of Fela’s Koola Lobitos’ “Highlife Time. Taking the original track to the region of El Callao in Venezuela, where the population from Trinidad & Tobago and other islands in the Caribbean settled themselves at the end of the 19th century when they started to work in mineral exploitation. As a result, this region of Venezuela has a particular language, mixing English and Spanish elements, and of course the celebration of the Carnival and the birth of Venezuelan calipso . Side B brings the Afrobeat madness of “Deo e’ Mono”, the very first track Monsalve did for the project back in the day. As Raul says “I just took the opportunity to celebrate Fela’s anniversary by recording this track as I dreamed it should sound when I was starting the project, learning Afrobeat only through records” . For this Monsalve called Chief Uduh Essiet, the original percussionist of the Egypt 80 and with the Forajidos’ Mario Orsinet on drums the rhythm section was without doubt cooking immediately. As on their last record, “Bichos” on Olindo Records, these two tracks are full of psychedelia, rough electronics, powerful vocals and tons of traditional Venezuelan percussion.

Full Circle is the sixth album by long time Ghost Box roster member, The Advisory Circle. Self-avowed synaesthesiac, Cate Brooks conjures a very visual fantasy in four acts (the vinyl version across four sides of a luxurious gatefold double 10”). Her tracks evoke human dramas played out against the timeless backdrop of a utopian built environment, where leisure, luxury, elegance and romance are always in fashion.

Brooks' music is by turns ambient, dramatic, upbeat and melancholic. It's instrumental electronica of the very highest calibre, an expert and masterly manipulation of electronic equipment both old and new. Light touches of acoustic and electric instrumentation and flourishes of both tape and digital sound manipulation add colour throughout.

This long running solo project is saturated in 70s and 80s TV and library music influences, and in some ways Full Circle is a call back to the 2005 debut EP Mind How You Go. However, the music and production have evolved over the yers, into a distinctively rich and three dimensional soundworld. The album wears its influences and sonic components proudly, but feels contemporary, cool, and fresh.
