Powered by the Technics legacy
For decades, Technics direct drive has set the standard for precise, maintenance-free rotation. This system, which drives the turntable directly with high torque, has been further developed and now offers even greater precision thanks to a coreless motor that eliminates cogging torque.

Tone arm
With a minimized tone arm base, the design retains the traditional S-shape. Micrometer-precise manufacturing ensures high scanning precision.

Cartridge
The included Audio-Technica AT-VM95C cartridge features a conical stylus and delivers clear sound reproduction. The integrated phono preamplifier impresses with its outstanding musicality.

Turntable
Constant rotation and precise torque control are achieved by a 1.26 kg die-cast aluminum turntable with reinforcing ribs and a directly mounted motor magnet.

Damping feet
Newly tuned damping feet increase vibration resistance and reduce acoustic feedback. The optimized rubber hardness shifts resonances specifically outside the audible range.

The intelligence behind the rotation

Digital control
Digital control maximizes rotational accuracy through: (1) precise speed detection, (2) calibration of each individual unit during production, (3) digitally optimized control signals for the motor.

Circuit layout
Separate printed circuit boards (PCBs) for the power supply, motor control, and phono EQ are positioned away from the tonearm and connected by crossover-free cabling. This minimizes sound distortion.

Phono circuitry
The integrated MM phono equalizer is optimally matched to the included cartridge system. Together with the high-quality components and housing, it ensures clear sound with minimal noise.

Environmentally friendly packaging materials
The SL-40CBT uses environmentally friendly packaging that replaces styrofoam cushioning material with cardboard to reduce plastic waste pollution in the oceans.
