Incoming! Adult Only 46 is here and it’s another biggie. Chris Carrier’s trusty label always delivers the funk and this release is no exception. Featuring Rhythm&Soul plus Ukrainian newcomers Belogurov and Orbit and the bossman Carrier himself, it’s comprised four tracks, all with their own unique groove and atmosphere – perfect for anyone who loves deep rhythmic house music with hypnotic sensibilities. Rhythm&Soul takes one side of the record, the first of his tracks ‘Take Off’ comes in with sturdy beats pushes things along at a steady pace. His use of ‘live’ sounding percussion is evident throughout, working perfectly alongside a captivating double bass keeping things moving. If you manage to stay still while this is playing then there’s something wrong with you, utterly irresistible. The second track from the Madrid-based producer is another upbeat joint. The deep bassline bounces up and down while razor sharp hats slice and dice their way through the lower end. As with most of Rhythm&Soul’s work, there are lots of nuances and details peppering the track, keeping it interesting from start to finish. On the flip side we have the Ukrainian boys Belogurov and Orbit, who deliver eight minutes of pleasure with ‘Jysk’. Smooth cosmic grooves rise up off this steaming hot, sensual cut. A naughty allure emanates from this track as it moves forward, subtle pads swirling in the background to suck you in and keep you locked to the groove. And to round things off, Chris Carrier delivers a typically eccentric roll out. Subtle beats are placed over an analogue low end together with a selection of strange sounds direct from Carrier’s well-equipped lab. Variations in the rhythm and texture keep this one interesting all the way until the end.And there it is, another hot one from the Adult Only camp… strictly for over 18s!

Coming next from Adult Only: the repress of one of the most sought-after 12s from the label back catalogue. AO19: "Formula Express - Main Course" was originally released in 2002 and featured Guillaume la Tortue, Jef K and Chris Carrier. This is actually some of the last records ever produced by the mysterious Guillaume la Tortue; one of the pioneer of electronic music in France, who's quoted by Laurent Garnier in his infamous “Electrochoc” book as one of his main influence back in the days. The record opens on the "Main Course”: a classic Tech-House number with a beautiful 909 beat and a tasteful use of various samples and FX all through the track. The funky vocals still sound fresh today but the secret here (as often with Chris Carrier's related work) is the groove - the kind of groove that reminds you summer days in the park while the strong bass-line announces already the next track. On the flip, "Starter" stands out as the perfect dancefloor killer with an infernal groove and a real fat analog bass-line that will keep you moving whether you want it or not. Add just a few crispy tribal percussions on a classic raw 909 beat and you got the simplest and dubbiest song of the record but also the most efficient dancefloorwise. The last cut, “Apple Pie”, might be the deepest of them all. Spacy melodies and trippy vocals in the background make you first feel like you’re chillin on some extraterrestrial beach far away from earth. It starts as a nice breakbeat building the atmosphere before slowly evolving into a more 4-4esque Tech-House with the bass coming in only after a couple of minutes. Even if the sound was resolutely analogic, the whole EP is extremely well produced with a special care for details. At many levels this three-track EP is a landmark in the label history. Time For Repress.

Adult Only 47 has arrived with Pierre Codarin dropping some funk on 3 originals alongside a remix from Dan Ghenacia and Chris Carrier.........A1 Telefunk kicks off things and rolls with a wonky filtered drum pattern picking up a real swung groove before a subtle vocal is then joined by a bass line can only be described as something from a late night jazz workout in the deepest darkest realms of the Parisian Capitol. Detroit style pads and intricate keys keep this groove interesting through out the track pushing it forward more and more with sweet drum edits and skips that are all to known from Pierre. A2 Morning Eyes twists things up with trippy spacey pads and a very nice 303 sitting low in the mix. Driving drums make this track work well as it draws to a stripped back moment where the 303 really comes through and does its thing. This really is 6 minutes of a Funk Fueled Adult only workout!B1 TeleFunk remix Dan Ghenacia and Chris Carrier Dan and Chris bring their twist on Pierre's Telefunk coming through with a very interesting take on things producing a very tight rework.
