Disco Para Adultos (Disco for Adults in english) is the intriguing name for this new batch of grooves from the Fundación Tony Manero. It's a return to their disco roots following on the coat tails of their previous more personal album, Lugares Comunes. A step back then, but also a step onwards in their unique approach to discofunk. Ten songs that draw on that early 80's Boogie double whammy of unabashed synth and punchy horns, alongside funk guitar and four on the floor bass drum. Count as always on Paquito Sex Machine's soulful vocals. Likewise, Miguelito Superstars' flow. Look out too for vocal work from Lalo López. The Maneros also bring in the contributions of two exceptional singers leading the current Soul and Funk movement as we know it today: australian Joel Sarakula in "Words" and the Havana funk phenomenon Cimafunk on "Musicofilia". On top of that, José Luís Pardo, known for his work with Los Amigos Invisibles and as a key latin NY producer has piled in on the production and composition of house-influenced "Se Acabó Lo Que Se Daba". Disco Para Adultos gives us ten songs with a take on the following question: "How do you do the disco thing when you're pushing 40, with kids, partner and a mortgage? How do we get out and keep dancing? Grown-up Maneros combine ironic humour with the occasional intimate confession and take us through a step-by-step guide on still getting up to get down. Somehow, those romboids are a simbol of censorship separating the adult world from the kids. All along however, the kids keep on breaking through.
