Das Leben scheint ein unerklärliches Rad zu sein, und ich dachte, es sollte einen Popsong (oder zwei) darüber geben. "Last Punk Standing" - Ein typisch CTMF-klingender Track, der eigentlich "Who'll be the Last Punk Standing" heißen sollte, aber ein verkürzter Titel sieht besser aus. Wieder geht es um Zeit und darum, dass das Wissen zur Neige geht. Wenn eine Generation ausstirbt, gibt es niemanden mehr, der die wahre Natur ihrer Erfahrung erklären kann. Diejenigen, die im Zweiten Weltkrieg gekämpft haben, sind so gut wie verschwunden und so bekommen wir den Aufstieg der neuen Rechten: Wir lernen aus der Geschichte, dass wir nicht aus der Geschichte lernen. Wer bleibt übrig, um die Essenz dessen, worum es bei Punk ging - hausgemachte, sich selbst befriedigende Musik - weiterzugeben? PS - die Figur Roberta ist aus einem Leadbelly-Song - ich fand es schön, sie und Mark E. Smith im selben Popsong zu haben. Who'll be left to pass on the essence of what punk was about - home-made, please yourself music. PS - the character Roberta, is from a Leadbelly tune- I thought it nice to have her and Mark E.
