Cong Burn go deep on their third record with Freerotation affiliate Duckett making his first appearance on the label and Chekov following up his recent contribution to Timedance. The heady A-side opens with Chekov's 'Spring' which has spent the last few years popping up in sets from Lena Willikens, Call Super and the Hessle Trio. Duckett's 'Lost In Israel' rolls through its first half carried by complex arpeggios before its layers are broken down and evaporated. On the B side Lack provides a extended and dubbed out DJ tool sounding like if Kowton released on Workshop. Haddon's 'Anabiosis' ties this batch together having first appeared on Cong Burn's debut CDR back in 2015 - since then it has become a go-to opener, closer and after party ender.

On the A side BFTT and Lack follow on from their debut release on the fifth Cong Burn Tape. BFTT crafts a peak time sub heavy techno weapon which beautifully collapses in on itself before its final ascent. Lack layers polyrhthmic splashes of Shackleton-esque percussion over dubbed out bass growls. Flip it over and you've got Chekov following up his ace debut on Shanti Celeste's Peach Discs with electro 808 patterns and swells of low end weight. Howes lowers the tempo with a low key bubbler that further explores the texture's laid out on Cong Burn's first 12".

Cong Burn are a tight knit collective reaching from Salford to Glasgow via County Durham and Middlesborough. An initial series of DIY cassettes and limited CDRs found their way into sets from Ben UFO, Lee Gamble, Tasker, Bake and Mosca and earned plaudits from The Quietus and XLR8R. Their first 12 consists of unreleased material from Haddon, Howes and Perfume Advert (1080p, Opal Tapes, Where To Now?) and a reworked L. Pearson track taken from his debut release (CBW003 L. Pearson Stone Circles). 2017 will see Cong Burn artists releasing music on Whities and UIQ as well as a performance at Freerotation. The Quietus this label's batting average is thus far impeccable.
