Even if you find the 1969 film "Eat It", a bit 'too weak-willed a film of social satire and advertising, the first and last movie of Francesco Casaretti', you can not miss out on the soundtrack from the two-time Academy Award winner Ennio Morricone, composed during his most prolific and experimental period. Morricone wrote a score that is, as always, brilliant, conducted by Bruno Nicolai with the choir I Cantori Moderni di Alessandro Alessandroni. The tracks range between danceable (A5, A6, A7 and even a bit "Dies Irae", B2, a known nursery rhyme almost deformed, interpolated into the main theme), classical motifs, romantic, and with a touch of bossa nova (A1, A2, A3, A4, B1, B3, B4), all of which embrace all the psychological and environmental nuances of alienation and paradox that mark the plot of the film. There is also a sense of disturbing and abstract experimentalism that make this soundtrack unique. Particularly in "Quinta Variazione / Africami" (A6) with the fuzzy Fender by Alessandroni, and "Settima Variazione" with its three dreamy amazing underwater variants (A7, A8 and B6) and ending with "Eat it", in the same version as the highly collected 45rpm that came out at the time and is, until now, the only existing track on vinyl from this score; a today legendary cult object and sought for the killer heavy drum by Vincenzo Restuccia and distorted psychedelic Fender Stratocaster of Alessandro Alessandroni. Highly rigid hand-glued Cinedelic cover with a folder insert of 4 facades with photos from the movie.

Limited edition of 500 copies on colored vinyl! The legendary soundtrack composed by the Maestro ENNIO MORRICONE for IL GRANDE SILENZIO, directed in 1968 by SERGIO CORBUCCI and starring Jean Louis Trintignant and Klaus Kinski. A melancholic, emotive score, deeply moving and cold as the snow covered landscape of the film, a unusual stylistic choice for a western, is considered one of the best “western” work by Morricone since the collaboration with Sergio Leone for the classic “Dollar Trilogy” and “Once Upon a Time in the West”

Recorded live at the Chicago Free Jazz Festival in 1988 and originally broadcast by National Public Radio, this performance features Sun Ra's Arkestra back in Chicago, almost 30 years after he first left for the fertile grounds of NYC, before settling in Philadelphia. It was in Chicago that Ra recorded some of his most legendary material for his own Saturn label, and it is one of the town's where Ra is clearly most comfortable and free, and this performance is indicative of that. An incredible live performance from the Arkestra, one of the longest running and most innovative groups of the 20th century.

Two years after "La Califfa", Bevilacqua confirmed UgoTognazzi as the main actor and Ennio Morricone as soundtrack composer. While the first one confirms himself as an exceptional protagonist, in the dualrole of father and son, the second is not far behind, as the author of abeautiful romantic and poignant. Yet another excellent product of the filmand musical Italian, set in the socio-political ferment of the early 70s.The score of "Questa specie d'amore" was published on a full-length LP in'72, a very rare item today, and later on CD with the addition of seven tracks. This reissue is the very first ever on vinyl, and presents a renewed artworkand includes all the sixteen cuts of the complete edition of the soundtrack.

Un Uomo Da Rispettare translates to “A Man to Respect,” which can easily be said of Ennio Morricone himself—the unparalleled maestro of the soundtrack. This 1972 crime film stars Kirk Douglas as a master safecracker at a crossroads in his life, emerging from prison yet tempted by one last big job. Morricone builds the main theme around Cicci Santucci’s flugelhorn as riveting leitmotifs reprise amidst variations of noir-jazz abstraction to frame the composer’s grand vision. A strident, two-note piano phrase sets the mood of heightened tension, while muted timpani and trance-like descending bass patterns sweep dramatically across the cinematic stereo field. On “18 Pari,” slinky rhythms and softened wah-wah guitars offer a distinctly Italian library music, adding elements of lightness to the overall avant-garde score. Un Uomo Da Rispettare’s dissonant chords and angular arrangements recall Morricone’s free improvisation work with Gruppo D’Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza. This first-time vinyl reissue is recommended for fans of Krzysztof Penderecki, Harry Partch and Sun City Girls.

In Rubartelli’s movie we follow the beautiful model in a shockingly surreal journey through the rural countryside of Italy on a downward spiral of self-discovery that leads her through so many whacked out head trips; heavily dark and sad with some of the most stunning psychedelic eye candy you can find from the freak out era of filmmaking, perfectly tuned with one of Ennio Morricone’s best scores. A true one kind of experience.

More than a halo of mystery surrounds "Le due stagioni della vita" (The two seasons of life), a film virtually impossible to find in any format, that we hardly know the names of its actors and director. The latter, Samy Pavel, of Belgian nationality but born in Egypt in 1944, debuted in 1972 precisely with this film, which was presented at the Venice International Film Festival in the same year. The author of the soundtrack is Ennio Morricone, who was already a World famous composer in those years thanks to his unforgettable soundtracks written for Sergio Leone's western movies and beyond. He's here accompanied, as often happened in those years, by conductor Bruno Nicolai and singer Edda Dell'Orso. Entirely orchestral, first of all the LP shows a long suite on side A, composed of a series of the main theme variations; the B-side, on the other hand, presents a brief interlude for solo voices, followed by another long composition that we wouldn't hesitate to define 'unbelievable': sixteen long minutes of a constant tension generated by string instruments only, with sporadic inserts of tribal percussion, dissonant piano chords and notes, and darkened choirs. This reissue on Vinyl Magic is the first ever on LP since the original one published in 1972.Limited edition 180gr. white vinyl.

"Vergogna schifosi" is a 1969 movie directed by Mauro Severino, a "Generation '68" film whose aim is to depict a social protest against the middle-class youth of the time, with the deserted - as empty as the protagonists - city of Milan in the background; everything is tied together by a mysterious murder that occurred years before, resurfaced by a mysterious individual. The soundtrack of this film was entrusted to Ennio Morricone who, with the collaboration of I Cantori Moderni di Alessandro Alessandroni and an incredible Edda Dell'Orso, combined symphonic and pop music, with a jazzy rhythmic background. Six tracks with a soothing and romantic atmosphere that wouldn't look out of place in a 'lounge' compilation; undoubtedly brilliant is the reinterpretation of the famous nursery rhyme melody of "Giro Giro Tondo", included in the two pieces of the same title "Matto, Caldo, Soldi, Morto... Girotondo".This Vinyl Magic reissue faithfully reproduces the original 1969 version, and is printed in a limited edition on 180gr solid gold coloured vinyl.

Although this wasn't directed by but Sergio Leone, but by the less knownGiulio Petroni, "Tepepa" is one of the best films in the spaghetti westerngenre, thanks to a perfect synopsis - even if as set in the 'abused' MexicanRevolution of the early '900 - to a trio of exceptional actors and, finally, toEnnio Morricone's soundtrack. The protagonists are in fact the immovable doctor John Steiner, the histrionicrevolutionary Tomas Milian and the massive Colonel Orson Welles, a uniqueand practically unrepeatable combination, however directed in a 'leone-ish'way by Petroni, who often focuses on large panoramas and close-ups on thecharacter's faces. As always, Morricone means quality: for "Tepepa" the Maestro creates amemorable soundtrack, dominated by strings and, curiously, by the acousticguitar!

“Metti, una sera a cena” it is a 1969 movie directed by Joseph Patrons Griffi, made up from an eponymous theater script and especially transposed to the film medium. It immediately obtained consents and success, and paved the road to success for actors Florinda Bolkan and Tony Musante in particular. So did the music written by Ennio Morricone, who in 1970 won the Nastro D’Argento Award for Best Score. Lounge sounds, bossa nova, jazz (especially the drums touch) and beat (usually still in vogue in the Italy of the late ’60s), seasoned with orchestral arrangements conducted by Bruno Nicolai, merge here to one of the most famous soundtrack of the Italian Maestro. A perfect mix of eroticism and melancholy, for a real classic! This AMS Records edition offers the original soundtrack released in 1969 on Cinevox Record in a new artwork, a gatefold cover and colored vinyl. A bonus track is also included, the song “Hurry to me” sung by The Sandpipers, a folk/pop trio who became famous at the time for their version of the popular “Guantanamera”.

"Teorema" is a film directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini, publicly presented for the first time in September 1968 at the International Film Festival in Venice; it immediately shocked its viewers, like many other of Pasolini's works, and was seized by the Public Prosecutor of Rome and the director, with producer Donato Leoni, were charged with obscenity - and eventually absolved. The music of the film is divided in two: the original vinyl B-side is entirely occupied by Mozart's "Messa da Requiem", while the A-side houses five original compositions written by Ennio Morricone. These ones consist of two opening dissonant and discordant tracks, solely played with classical instruments ("Teorema", "Frammenti"), a ballad sung by the Junior Trio ("Fruscio di green leaves"), a piece that reminds of a western movie by Sergio Leone ("L'ultima corrida") and a closing instrumental beat/psych song ("Beat N° 3").This Vinyl Magic reissue faithfully reproduces the original 1968 version, and is printed in a limited edition on 180gr transparent lime coloured vinyl.

Fifth western in a row for Sergio Leone after the Dollar Trilogy and “Once Upon a Time in The West”, “Giù la testa” (Duck, you sucker, 1971) is also the fifth collaboration between the director and Ennio Morricone, which would be followed by the final “Once Upon a Time in America” nearly 15 years later, before Leone’s premature death in 1989.World famous and holder of unlimited resources, with “Giù la testa” Leone directed an epic film that tells of the friendship between a Mexican bandit and an Irish explosives expert, during the historical context of the 1913 Mexican Revolution; lasting over two hours, the film has almost tones of an Hollywood colossal, but its epicness is only occasionally accompanied by Morricone’s music, which focuses more on the romance and melancholy aroused by the two protagonists’ memories. This score’s main theme alone would have been enough to make it a classic, thanks to the recurring “Sean-Sean” tune, and especially the melody sung by Edda Dell'Orso, a theme that even the less music passionate will immediately recognize! This title closes the series of AMS Records / Vinyl Magic reissues dedicated to the Leone / Morricone collaboration, with the usual new graphic layout, a 60x30cm poster with flyers and lobby cards and an orange/gold colored vinyl.

An incredibly significant film, still actual today in many ways, “Indagine su un cittadino al di sopra di ogni sospetto” (Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion, 1970) is just one of the masterpieces in which the director Elio Petri directs actor – one of the best Italian ones ever – Gian Maria Volonté, who here impersonates a police officer characterized by an unstable personality; abusing of his power, he hides his insecurities and a murder committed at the expense of his girlfriend (an irresistible Florinda Bolkan in a state of grace).“Indagine” is an essential work, both from a cinematographic and a musical point of view, therefore it’s one of the best ways to get closer to Morricone’s incredibly vast discography. The approach to melodies is minimalist but also unsettling, having to music to evoke feelings of uncertainty and imbalance, which are proper of the main character. The use of musical instruments is more ‘popular’ and much less symphonic and bombastic; drums or percussions are almost completely absent, nevertheless the listener never loses the sense of rhythm, slow and obsessive at the same time.Despite the prizes earned by the film – including the Academy Award for best foreign film – Cinevox only released a 45rpm with the main theme of the film at the time, and a first ‘full-version’ of the soundtrack was only published in the ’80s. This new edition fills some other gaps, by including a specially selected tracklist, anever seen before artwork, a gatefold cover with extensive notes and a 30x30cm poster with a vast reproduction of lobby cards and posters of the film.

"Queimada" - edited in the USA as "Burn!" - is a film directed by Gillo Pontecorvo, released in 1969 and almost entirely filmed in Colombia; the two main actors are the world famous Marlon Brando (soon to be the main character in "The Godfather") and the unknown Evaristo Márquez, a true indigenous strongly wanted by Pontecorvo on the set, to make his fiction even more realistic. The realization of the soundtrack was commissioned to the untiring Morricone, here assisted by conductor Bruno Nicolai and Alessandro Alessandroni choristers, the latter featured in particular in the epic opening track "Abolição" and "Hosanna". Orchestrations are still present, but the distinguishing feature of this work is a virtually exclusive and obsessive use of acoustic tribal percussions, and a Hammond organ that sometimes adds an almost police/detective movies feeling. This work is almost full of dramatic tones, for a film that still casts a strong message against colonialism, but more generally against wars, oppression and exploitation. This is an exclusive reissue, for an album that waited 45 years to be repressed on vinyl! Colored vinyl edition (orange & clear transparent mixed) with many bonus tracks, enclosed in a cover gatefold with a completely renewed artwork and a 30x30cm poster with film flyers and lobby cards reproductions.

"Il Diavolo nel Cervello" (Devil in the brain) is a film directed in 1971 by Sergio Sollima and screened at the beginning of the following year; it's a psychological thriller in which tension is determined by the characters' psyche more than their actions, and is therefore an atypical product, that was offered to an audience who at the time were mostly into the 'Dario Argento suspence', made of serial killers, ferocious murders and a pinch of erotism. After three movies in the 'spaghetti western' genre and the noir "Città violenta" Sollima then decided to make something unpredictable, and paid the consequences of his resolution: his film went almost unnoticed, and it's been reevaluated just today, together with the soundtrack by Ennio Morricone, who already scored Sollima's previous works."Il diavolo nel cervello" works on an almost-full symphonic register: on a strings-made ground we have piano, harpsichord, flutes and brass instruments. It's a very airy work that sips moments of tension, where the pace is dictated solely by jazzy drums played with bristles. Undoubtedly, one of the best productions of the Maestro from those early '70s, including Bruno Nicolai as a conductor and Edda Dell'Orso singing choirs.Yet another blend of music and imagery from the fervent Seventies to be rediscovered, here revived in LP format with a gatefold cover and a completely new graphic layout.Solid red & purple mixed vinyl edition.

In 1965 the previous year's film "A Fistful of Dollars" by Sergio Leone, thanks to its success, had already helped to codify and massively increase the popularity of the 'spaghetti western' genre, together with the one the two lead actors Clint Eastwood and Gian Maria Volonte. "For a Few Dollars More" is the natural prosecution of that movie, with the addition of a third protagonist - Lee Van Cleef - who joins the already mentioned two actors: a triad that made history, for another masterpiece Sergio Leone's masterpiece.Ennio Morricone's music is equally important. The Maestro here chooses a 'poor' registry, consisting of folk instruments such as ocarina, Jew's harp and chimes, respectively used to accompany the entry stage of the three main actors. But there are, as usual, the contributions of Alessandro Alessandroni and his Cantori Moderni choir, for an incredibly exciting final result. This edition sees the eight tracks of the original score in a brand new layout. The format is a 10" 45rpm LP, with gatefold cover and a 26x26cm miniposter.

Ennino Morricone delivered more of the same dramatic conflict on his score for the 1968 Western 'La Resa Dei Conti', this time mixing in a bit of atmospheric formlessness among his more romantic and orchestral sounds. There's some vampiric-sounding organs as well as one of those ascending, judgement day tunes that's expected of a Western: the strings come into play and the choir gets heavy with the tension.

Female: A Musical Journey into the World of Women .This project was born of a very simple idea; to create a sonic journey into the world of women. By selecting songs from film music by the great Ennio Morricone we seek to give a unusual soundtrack, not inspired by a film but instead by the muse of all muses: The Woman. Whose sounds could better describe this world of music than Ennio Morricone’s? Who better than The Maestro can really describe all the highlights of a day, a season, or a woman’s life? From the most dramatic moments to the happiest, the most sensual, seductive, sensitive and tough ones at the same time. Morricone’s emotional strength manages to convey strong vibrations with very few notes, just like the surreptitious glance from a woman in love that flashes between two people. When you listen to the song “Poetry of a Woman" you can feel this vibe. The sensuality of the music of "Scena d'Amore" from the movie "Crescete e Moltiplicatevi" is striking. It evokes a mood quite independent of the scene in the movie; indeed it gives your imagination the freedom to dream of sexy and sophisticated pictures. Edda Dell'Orso’s voice is the second great personality of this record. On each track her presence (which is in almost all of them) leads us into this mood, almost whispering when we describe which path we are following: in the sea, in bed, in the disco, at a cocktail party or on the verge of a nervous breakdown! Thus, through these notes, you will be taken by the hand into this journey with Eros, Passion, Love, Tragedy and Fantasy!Compiled by Alessandro Casella.

The Maestro Morricone’s Mediterranean sounds for the cult movie “Il Prefetto di Ferro” - directed by Pasquale Squitieri and starring the Italian cinema legend Giuliano Gemma – are sometimes warm, sometimes hard and sharp. With this score we can easily understand how much the Italian composer know about Sicilian folk music; the wonderful ballad “La Ballata del Prefetto Mori”, with its sad lyrics written by Ignazio Buttitta, is magistrally interpreted by one of the most important voices of Sicilian folk music: the legendary Rosa Balistreri. Deluxe reissue on LP, remastered with audiophile quality.

"Milano Odia: La polizia non può sparare", a 1974 movie directed by Umberto Lenzi, is the quintessence of the Italian police films. Not only, it's even more violent and extreme than usual, with one of the best interpretations ever by the Cuban actor Tomas Milian. The soundtrack for the film is commissioned to Ennio Morricone, who at the time was already a full-time score composer, and had already worked in the same field. The Maestro wrote the entire OST starting from a single, obsessive theme, arranged in many different ways for each different scene or atmosphere. The whole soundtrack had never been released until 2007, and this is the first whole edition on vinyl ever. It comes in a gatefold package, with a 30x30cm inlay poster.

"Il gatto a nove code" (The cat o 'nine tails), filmed in 1971, is the second film by Dario Argento, a horror thriller still distant from his horror works for which he will later become famous on an international level. The collaboration with the composer and conductor Ennio Morricone, already known for his work on Sergio Leone’s western movies, is here renewed after the success of "The Bird with the Crystal Plumage", and will continue with the third installment of the 'zoological trilogy', "Four Flies on Grey Velvet".

Dario Argento’s ‘opera prima’ ‘L’uccello dalle piume di cristallo’ was premiered in 1970 and marked an historical and revolutionary debut, being a truly original and innovative thriller. The stylistic choices of Argento mark a clear step forward from the thrillers of that era and even the soundtrack was something utterly special.Argento assigned the score to Ennio Morricone, composer of the soundtracks for ‘Comandamenti per un gangster’, ‘C’era una volta il west’, ‘Metti, una sera a cena’ ‘Un esercito di 5 uomini’ and ‘La stagione dei sensi’, which Argento had already written the screenplay of. For this movie the maestro adopted a particular style that draws heavily on contemporary music and on the studies of his Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza. With ‘L’uccello dalle piume di cristallo’ Morricone develops this approach and defines a 'formula': he alternates traditional songs, built around an easy and immediate melody used as a leitmotiv, with avant-garde and abstract tracks that amplify the state of uneasiness and fear of the viewers of tension and violence sequences.Cinevox released this soundtrack on an LP with 10 tracks in the spring of 1971 when ‘Il gatto a nove code’ was already a big hit in the Italian cinemas. The record was originally issued in mono, with different tracks from the Stereo US version. This is the first vinyl reissue featuring the original score in Stereo, enclosed in a brand new artwork made by Adventprod studios!
