The man known as DJ Nature holds a long and illustrious list of releases that spans all the way back to the early 90s, when, as Nature Boy, the Bristol born DJ and producer was carving out sample heavy house music for labels like Ruff Disco Records and the Underworld affiliated Tomato label. His relatively modern re-incarnation, as DJ Nature, has seen singles and two albums come correct on revered labels like Golf Channel Recordings and Jazzy Sport.Following on from Futureboogie’s landmark 50th release, DJ Nature drops a heavyweight four track EP on the Bristol label, each track promising and delivering Summertime vibes in abundance.“Born Lifted”, with its deft guitar licks and soulful vocal chops over lazy, hazy beats, is a great example of the Nature aesthetics that make his tracks so very popular across the house fraternity. “My Life” picks up the pace, deploying granite hard snares and cosmic chords with dusted vocal samples. On the flip, “What It Isn’t” packs some jazz chops with its sampled pianos and saxophone riffs over a discordant beat that swings with the best of them, whilst EP closer “Loving U More” again serves up some delicious summertime grooves with the perfect marriage of deep, funky bass and seductive samples.

inc. Lord Of The Isles RemixFutureboogie open their 2017 account with a new release from Lizards, the Newcastle based duo otherwise known as Lee Forster and James Hadfield. After appearances on labels like Leng Records, Join Our Club and Not An Animal Records, Lizards strut their stuff across two original tracks, whilst man of the moment Lord Of the Isles weighs in with a superb remix. The percussion driven house of “Tzatziki” kicks of the release, wrapped in warm and inviting pads and piano riffs. Shades of old school Chicago house meet sun-kissed Balearic vibes on this early morning riser, as the heavyweight bass sounds curl around the raw drum programming and illuminating keys sprinkle over the production. On “Aloof”, the tempo is taken down somewhat, as a bass line wanders over a steady kick and otherworldly ambient sounds and hushed vocal clips lazily glide over the 4/4 arrangement. As the track unfurls, more melodic and percussive elements come into play, blossoming into a something quite epic and unique. With a slew of releases for quality imprints like Permanent Vacation, Firecracker, Mule Musiq and ESP Institute, Neil McDonald, AKA Lord Of The Isles, serves up a deliciously chugging version of “Aloof”. Gurgling bass and marching handclaps are dowsed in dramatic synth sweeps and glacial tones, as the good Lord takes us on a monumental ride.

Bonar Bradberry and Tom Thorpe, AKA PBR Streetgang, return to the Futureboogie fold with a gutsy and energetic big room floor filler in “12.32”. As regular contributors to the label (their last offering being a collaboration with X-Press 2), the duo ramp up their production aesthetic with swirling acid licks, gnarly bassline waves, pumping drums and searing strings. Clocking in at over the 12-minute mark, PBR are given the space to really work the elements, which result in a magnificent production that will really work some dancefloors this summer. On the remix, London based producer, Fort Romeau, works his magic, off the back of stellar singles and albums for the likes of Spectral Sound, Running Back, Ghostly International and Live At Robert Johnson. Keeping the pace and mood pumping, and remodeling the melody riff, Fort Romeau takes us on a deeper, more cosmically energised trip, soaking the synths in reverb and cranking up a touch of distortion to keep things raw and vital.

Mark E last delivered on Futureboogie back in November 2014, so it's a welcome return to the label for the Birmingham based DJ & producer. With his Merc imprint running on full steam, and previous releases on revered labels like Spectral Sound and Running Back, Mark is becoming an ever dependent exponent of the real and raw house music vibe, and no more so than on the Basement Trax EP. Basement Trax 1, distorted synths wander over a low-slung beat, the marching hi-hats and filter work are tweaked to perfection. It's a track of basic elements, but done so well, the arrangement building steadily and bags of warmth and soul deep at the heart of this track. The gnarly bass and classic string sounds of Basement Trax 2 make an ideal companion piece to the A side. Delivered in the finest wild-pitch tradition, the raw sounding production packs a punch as the stomping drums and repetitive keys ramp up the heat for a real blazer of an underground club cut. Two quality cuts served up for you here…

incl. Justin Van Der Volgen RemixHaving championed underground dance sounds for many years now, DJ/producer Felix Dickinson really seems to be hitting his stride now, and on ‘A Days Reality, his second full length single for Futureboogie, Felix serves up perhaps his most accomplished works to date. Collaborating with legendary Chicago vocalist, Robert Owens (Fingers Inc/Frankie Knuckles), the pair produce a standout song that pulls on the very best of influences and delivers a modern day classic in the making. The ‘Classic Mix delivers some classic Chicago house tropes in abundance, Owens vocals sounding just as good as ever digging into Dickinsons authentic production with its timeless sound and energising vibes. An alternate ‘Dedication Mix is also served up, enlisting the musical directorship of Mikey Yamada and the live bass & guitars by Tsuyoshi Kosuga, both players from Japan whom Dickinson has forged a creative allegiance with. Brooklyn based Justin Van Der Volgen, supplier of fine sounds to labels like Golf Channel and Boogiefuturo, also joins the party with a version that further compliments the vocal prowess of Robert Owens.
