Released less than a year after The Idiot, Lust For Life is a return to the sloppy, sleazy, blues-y, swagger of the Stooges. Though the record is, again produced by David Bowie, he takes much more of a backseat musically, allowing for Iggy Pop to take center stage in his return to form. His best solo album and an absolute classic from this legend. Reissued on purple vinyl. Limited edition of 2,000.

LP | 1977 | EU | Reissue (4 Men With Beards)
29,99 €*
Release:1977 / EU – Reissue
Genre:Rock / Indie
Originally released in 1977, this was the first album Iggy Pop made after the dissolution of the Stooges, several jailings and a self-imposed stay in a mental institution. Produced by David Bowie, and including music written almost entirely by him, this is Iggy’s most introspective and heavy work. Much more mechanical than the sleazy proto-punk of the Stooges, The Idiot was a huge influence on the post-punk sound of folks like Joy Division and Magazine. An absolute classic on red and yellow vinyl. Limited edition of 1,000.

"TV Eye Live 1977" (or TV Eye) is a live album by Iggy Pop originally released in 1978. Iggy took a $90 000 advance from RCA Records to finish his contract with a live album. According to allmusic.com, the album was assembled from soundboard tapes. Iggy Pop doctored them in a German studio, quickly and cheaply for around $5,000. The album features recordings from concerts at The Agora in Cleveland, Ohio on March 21 & 22, 1977; The Aragon in Chicago, Illinois on March 28, 1977 and The Uptown Theater in Kansas City, Missouri on October 26, 1977.The album is notable for the presence of David Bowie on keyboards and background vocals for selected tracks and the rather crushing bass and drum sound; also, with the Sales brothers, the lineup prefigures in part Bowie's Tin Machine lineup.

“The Idiot” is the debut solo album by American rock singer Iggy Pop. It was the first of two LPs released in 1977 which Pop wrote and recorded in collaboration with David Bowie. Drawing on the electronic sounds of German groups such as Kraftwerk, “The Idiot” is a departure from the hard rock of Pop's former band the Stooges, and has been compared to Bowie's contemporaneous "Berlin Trilogy" of albums in its treated instrument sounds and introspective atmosphere. Sessions for the album were begun prior to the recording of Bowie's Low (1977), and “The Idiot” has thus been called the unofficial beginning of Bowie's Berlin period.

Iggy Pop, live at Chicago’s Caberet Metro on 12th July 1988.Iggy Pop was no stranger to Chicago’s Cabaret Metro in the 1980s, a rock and roll fixture with decades of smoke and sweat to show for its décor. Iggy’s a natural advert for adrenaline, but it’s laid on thick and fast when he walks out to greet the Metro crowd as Hanoi Rocks’ Andy McCoy rips into the slicing, dumb metal of the title track to his latest return-to-form album Instinct. Iggy’s plugged in for another power surge and the pace is set as the acrobatics nearly bring the ceiling down. “We’re gonna rock it to ya straight – no bullshit”.“Music should never be too good, too tight. It should excite you. The Stooges' music is supposed to make me feel good. And I've always had faith that if I feel good, others will”. Surely, an admirable definition of attitude and tonight, that raw power is back.Echoes proudly presents the entire original WXRT-FM broadcast of Iggy Pop’s explosive performance at Chicago’s Cabaret Metro on 12th July 1988. Professionally re-mastered with background liners and rare archival photos.

American Caesar was originally released in 1993, a couple of years after the all star "comeback" album Brick By Brick, the double album found Iggy Pop returning to the studio for the follow up with his muscular, tight touring band and they made what is arguably his best solo record since New Values in the 1970s. The dark, loud and subtly atmospheric record was recorded in New Orleans with Producer Malcolm Burn. American Caesar finds Iggy exploring the dark heart of America in songs that range from all out hard rock such as "Wild America" and "Sickness" to calmer numbers like "Jealousy" and "Mixin' The Colors.” Iggy also puts his stamp on the rock classic "Louie Louie" and makes it his own with some lyrical updating. He ends the record with the funny and brutal spoken word "Caesar" in which Iggy plays a U.S. version of the ancient leaders of the Roman Empire. This is most definitely an Iggy Pop record and a hidden gem in his catalog. Includes a previously unavailable insert with an image of Iggy on one side and the lyrics on the other.
