Release:1974 / EU – Reissue
Genre:Rock / Indie
Recorded in 1973 during a series of acid-fuelled all-night jam parties held at producer Dieter Dierks’ studio near Cologne, Cosmic Jokers was the work of a veritable krautrock supergroup that included Dierks himself, Manuel Göttsching (Ash Ra Tempel), Klaus Schulze (Tangerine Dream), Jürgen Dollase and Harald Grosskopf (both of Wallenstein). This free-form freak out—consisting of two epic tracks, the 22 min “Galactic Joke” and the 19 min “Cosmic Joy”— was first of five albums by the group to be released on Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser’s Cosmic Couriers label in the coming months. A first rate slab of space rock up there with other classics of the genre. Limited edition of 500 copies on 180 gram blue vinyl.

Genre:Organic Grooves
This LP features tenor-saxophonist Gato Barbieri at the beginning of his career and trumpeter Don Cherry teaming up with a French rhythm section for the trumpeter's five-part 'Togetherness'. While Cherry plays pretty free, he sounds conservative next to the often-violent wails of Barbieri. An explosive Parisian live recording!

By the time The Second Album was released in 1966, the Spencer Davis Group had exploded onto the British music scene thanks in no small part to the incredible talent of its young organ player and singer, a kid named Stevie Winwood who had already begun drawing comparisons to some of the greatest R&B singers in history of music. The LP, again produced by Chris Blackwell, included their first No. 1 hit, a version of Jamaican singer Jackie Edwards' 'Keep On Running', which allowed the young Stevie to finally purchase his own Hammond. Featuring 5 bonus tracks, including their 1966 hit single, 'Gimme Some Lovin' b/w 'Blues In F', 'Back Into My Life Again', the Hammond-heavy 'Trampoline', and their version of Roy Orbison's classic 'Oh! Pretty Woman'. Limited edition of 500 copies on 180 gram clear vinyl.

LP | 1969 | EU | Reissue (Klimt)

Release:1969 / EU – Reissue
Genre:Rock / Indie
One of the great lost albums of British psychedelia, original copies of Arzachel's 1969 self-titled debut fetch huge sums on the collectors' market and it is not difficult to understand why. Originally released in 1969 on the small Evolution label, this album quite simply contains some of the best psych to ever come out of the UK. However, like so many other great albums of the era, it soon dropped entirely from the radar due to bad promotion. In fact, it may not have ever been rediscovered at all if guitarist Steve Hillage and keyboardist Dave Stewart had not gone on to be so well known. Hillage would soon become famous for his work in Gong, and Stewart would become a legend of British prog with Egg, Hatfield and the North, National Health, and his work with wife Barbara Gaskin in the 1980s. Contains bonus track from a lacquer of the same period. Limited edition of 500 copies on 180 gram white vinyl.

This 1968 release of Flash is the only famous album by this Texas trio, featuring a young Billy Gibbons, later of ZZ Top fame, and it includes 5 bonus tracks from the CD re-release. Featuring '99th Floor,' the smash hit that was a sensation in the acid-psych scene of late 1960s Texas, and gained them the # 1 spot in the charts for 6 weeks. Limited edition of 500 copies on 180 gram pink vinyl LP.

Of Sudanese heritage, the bassist Ahmed Abdul-Malik (1927-1993) was born Jonathan Timms in Brooklyn. After working with Art Blakey and Thelonious Monk, among others, Abdul-Malik studied music of other cultures. He was among the first to incorporate Middle Eastern and Indian influences into Jazz.A mindblowing mix of jazz and Middle Eastern influences— and a rare ‘60s treasure from Thelonious Monk’s former bassist! Ahmed Abdul-Malik blends together percussion, bass, and oud with some soulful solo work from Seldon Powell on tenor and flute, and Ray Nance on cornet— stretching out over long tracks with an exotic vibe.

Soon after the release of King Crimson's 1969 masterpiece, In the Court of the Crimson King, band members Michael Giles and Ian McDonald began to disagree with the direction the band was taking and soon split off to start their own project. 1971 saw the release of an excellent studio album on Island Records called simply McDonald and Giles. Although the album was similar in style and complexity to King Crimson, the sound was considerably less dark overall. In fact, regarding this difference, McDonald commented at the time, 'I want to make music that says good things instead of evil things.' The album also featured Michael Giles' brother Peter (from their days with Giles, Giles & Fripp), and guest musician Steve Winwood, whose keyboard playing can be heard on 'Turnham Green'. Limited edition of 500 copies on 180 gram clear vinyl with a gatefold sleeve.

Fuchsia's 1971 LP is a lost gem of experimental British progressive rock (in the vein of Henry Cow and Comus). Fuchsia was formed by lead singer and guitarist Tony Durant during his days at Exeter University. Wanting to write songs outside of the standard pop format, Durant had the innovative idea of bringing in an all-female string section, which included fellow Exeter students, Madeleine Bland (cello), Janet Rogers (violin), and Vanessa Hall-Smith (viola). Fuchsia's self-titled first (and last) album was recorded in summer of 1971, and the band (all students) was determined to tour during their next holiday. But the best laid plans often come undone, and Fuchsia soon dissolved with Durant eventually moving to Australia. Limited edition of 500 copies on 180 gram pink vinyl LP with 3 bonus tracks.

Originally released on Deram in 1967, Celebration is one of the most important albums of the 1960s British progressive and avant-garde Jazz scene. The Mike Westbrook Concert Band included some of the UK’s most important jazz figures of the time, including John Surman, Mike Osborne, and Harry Miller. These recordings, culled from two days of studio work, are equal parts swinging and experimental, boundary pushing and accessible. Original copies on Deram now fetch a hefty sum, thankfully the folks at Klimt have made it available once again on LP for the first time in over 40 years.

By Autumn '66 the Spencer Davis Group was at the very pinnacle of its success, burning up the charts with self-penned originals like 'Somebody Help Me' and 'When I Get Home'. However, this album also paid homage to the (mostly American) musicians, like Elmore James and Elvis Presley, who had so inspired these young lads from Birmingham, propelling them to international stardom. Bonus tracks include their number one smash hit 'I'm A Man', plus 'Stevie's Groove' (featured in the 1966 film, The Ghost Goes Gear, a musical comedy featuring the Spencer Davis Group and a plot about a haunted house, yes you read that correctly), 1967's 'Waltz For Lumumba', and 'I Can't Get Enough Of It'. Limited edition of 500 copies on 180 gram clear vinyl.

In July 1965, when Their First LP was originally released, the Spencer Davis Group - the band that launched Steve Winwood's career - was just one of the many aspiring young groups on the British beat scene. But that would soon change when their single - a version of Jamaican singer Jackie Edwards' 'Keep On Running' - shot to the No. 1 spot on the British charts. Featuring 5 bonus tracks, including Otis Redding's 'She Put The Hurt On Me', Etta James' 'I'll Drown In My Own Tears', 'I'm Getting Better' and 'Goodbye Stevie', all from their 1965 EP, plus 'Stevie's Blues', the B side to their 1966 single 'Somebody Help Me'. Limited edition of 500 copies on 180 gram clear vinyl.

An accomplished group in the world of chamber music, the Concord String Quartet, active from 1971-1987, gained almost immediate attention from the press as well as a dedicated following, after winning the prestigious Walter W. Naumburg Chamber Music Award in 1972. Although the quartet was a classical string quartet, these rare 1973 recordings show the groups affinity for the New York School of avant-garde composers, like Earle Brown, John Cage and Morton Feldman, as well. Side B is entirely comprised of John Cages 1950 String Quartet in Four Parts, where each section of the piece corresponds to one of the four seasons as well as a particular force: spring/creation, summer/preservation, autumn/ destruction, and winter/quiescence.

Dharma Blues Bands sole album, 1967s Dharma Blues, is finally available again on vinyl after decades of being out of print!! Formed by guitarist Dave Brock, pianist Mike King, and harmonica player Luke Francis in 1964, the British blues trio gigged heavily around London, eventually recording versions of Sonny Boy Williamson IIs Dealing with the Devil and Pete Johnson's "Roll 'Em Pete" for a British blues compilation. The band also backed Memphis Slim on tour in the UK, but before the band could record a full-length LP, Luke Francis and Dave Brock quit the band, with the latter going on to form Hawkwind shortly thereafter. Mike King, however, decided to continue on his own, recruiting Gary Compton on harmonica, and John Hillary on guitar and vocals, to record this convincing British blues LP in 1967.
