Cuthead have, over the last few years released all kinds of gritty house and hip hop beats but normally through his friends over at Uncanny Valley. We're now overjoyed to offer you his first EP on Local Talk and honestly, it's everything we could've hoped for. Spread out over four tracks you get a real dirty basement jam (Fuck That Shit), a sample friendly house nugget (Get Down) and a melodic 4/4 tune that sounds like if Cuthead and our old friend HNNY hooked up in the studio together. To round off the EP we also included something extra special for the beat heads, a jazzy instrumental hip hop number (What Can I Say).

Local Talk welcomes Detroit house music legend Terrence Parker to the family. His release is not only the first of 2017 but also marks the 75th release on Local Talk.Sometimes you just want a producer to deliver what he's best at and with these two tracks that is exactly what we get. Opening track Gratiot Avenue Piano is a straight forward piano house track that hits peak hour business in just a couple of minutes. If you like the classic Terrence Parker sound like we do, then don’t look any further. On the flip Unconditional embellishes all that's good about a house track, a delightfully soulful house bump together with an infectious organ hook. There's no messing around on this release and Terrence never puts a foot wrong throughout these two tracks, both are perfectly conceived from start to finish.

NYC's finest DJ Spinna comes through on Local Talk with an epic release that might surprise those of you expecting a more traditional Soulful House workout. This time Spinna went out of his comfort zone with a deep warehouse journey that works equally well in dark European House clubs or at the Shelter in NYC. 'TB or not TB' got that perfect blend of space darkness, analogue synths and that old school House thump. Initially it's quite raw and simplistic but the true magic of this track begins halfway in (be patient!). If there ever was a journey track, this is the one. But we're not done, on the flip Spinna also comes through with a warm and melodic Deep House jam destined for those very last small hours.

It really feels like we (aka Mad Mats & Tooli) have been around way longer than 5 1/2 years with Local Talk, but it's really true what they say, time flies when you're having fun! From what started as a somewhat simple and almost primitive urge to create a small house imprint has now grown into a much bigger affair. We really tried hard to keep the label from getting stuck in any genre (remember 90s house?) and to always keep the Local Talk relevant, curious, diverse and with a healthy dose of underground mentality. From our very first release with Bassfort's excellent 'Moon Shadow' in the Summer of 2011, we had a crystal clear vision of what Local Talk should represent...House music in any way, shape or form! Over the years we released soulful, Disco, jack, afro, vocal, deep, Jazz, tech, latin, old school, acid, UK, Berlin, New Jersey, Detroit and of course Chicago inspired house music. If it made us bump...we put it out! This brings us up to today and about +80 releases later. We thought about how we best could sum up these first 5 1/2 years and immediately the image of Blaze's classic album '25 Years Later' popped up. Besides the fact that it's an amazing album cover it also a good representation when different musical genres fuse together. It's not strictly a house album but just as well a r&b, reggae and soul album. This fusion and variation of house sounds is something that we've tried to capture on our '5 1/2 Years Later' compilation, split into two parts. On part 2 you'll find a high energy disco rub from Parisian S3A, a truly deep and soulful vocal jam from Boddhi Satva & Sly Johnson, a deep UK garage production from SMBD (aka Simbad), a dark and electronic affair from Toto Chiavetta (Yoruba) and finally a musical acid number with that magical Bristol touch from newcomer Marcel Lune. All in all we think we got most angles covered and hopefully this album will make you spread that chalk on the dance floor and get down...Local Talk style!

Hailing from the small town of Stroud, South West England, Marcel Lune has been quickly building his reputation as one of the hottest new talents in the UK Bass Music Scene. Having discovered an 808 in his parents attic at a young age, it quickly became one his favourite toys and set him off on a musical voyage which is beginning to gather momentum. Having already released a string of releases including a full album for Studio Rockers last year, this release with Local Talk is a new chapter in the ever growing Marcel Lune saga. This debut for Local Talk is nothing short of brilliance. An EP that sits somewhere between the early Floating Points days and Local Talk's very own Crackazat jamming with Harvey Sutherland. From the opening track 'Sketches' Marcel brings broken house rhythms, piano chords and dancing acid lines in a glorius way. The clever vocal arrangement on 'Eat Good' takes no prisoners and on the flip 'Crazy Love', another vocal track, Marcel slows things down a bit together with vocalist Bluesz. The EP ends with Soul Music, upping the energy level slightly with its snappy, jazz-influenced beats and dancing synth lines.A beautiful and fitting addition to the ever expanding Local Talk catalogue.

Releasing an album is a daunting task, especially in dance music. You got to keep it fresh and exciting from the very beginning until the last track, not sticking to one tempo, make tracks that work both at home and in the club and ultimately tell a story with your music.Alexander Lay-Far knows a thing or two about this, having his debut album 'So Many Ways' out back in 2013. The thing with Lay-Far and a big reason why we've always had a soft spot for him is his way of incorporating a certain magic in the tracks that leaves you on an uplifting and optimistic note. Therefore we're really excited to release his second album, How I Communicate, on Local Talk. How I Communicate is a two part vinyl release which we hope will come as a fresh breeze in these days where so much dance music simply lacks the actual musical aspect or the organic approach. Like most producers and DJs that are influenced by soul, disco, jazz and the blacker side of electronic dance music its all about the actual 'tune'. Listening (or dancing) through this album we hope you'll find your special tune (or tunes!) that hopefully will bring joy to your ears.To his aid Lay-Far has invited an impressive cast of collaborators such as Ashley Beedle & Darren Morris, Restless Soul, Sean McCabe & Mark De Clive-Lowe to give the tracks that little extra something under the watchful eye of Lay-Far himself.Or as Lay-Far describes it himself 'The album is about the music as the universal language, the ultimate means of communication, bringing people of the world together.'Part 2 will be released in the new year...

We had no choice but to bring back our friend Kiko Navarro after the success of the 'New Life EP' released on Local Talk earlier this year. 'Isao' is Kiko at his finest, a beautiful and hypnotic house track that has the perfect blend of afro and latin elements with a bouncy electronic edge. There's also a mighty fine remix coming from Jose Marquez. Jose develops the vocal elements and brings in a whole orchestra of drums taking the track in a sweatier direction. Kiko also delivers a 'KOKI dub' where he continues on the same vibe and adds strings complimented by shakers and percussions throughout the track.

These two remixes shows why Ben is a wizard when it comes to soulful chords on a Blaze tip. This is for each and everyone out there that enjoys real music.

Take all of the above & stir it in a musical pot and you get the 'Unbreakable EP', the debut 12" on Local Talk from Turbojazz. The EP kicks of with Please U which features David Blank on vocals. A retro-futuristic track with warm chords draping themselves over snappy snares & melodies. On the flip, Unicorn Rising bounces along with the sort of finesse you'd expect from a producer like Recloose, it's flavoured with quirky breaks and warm fuzz bass & analogue-sounding keys. Local Talk release number 66 moves in deeper territories with a duo that needs no further introduction, Greg Dowling, Shane Johnson aka Fish Go Deep. These two fine gents have been releasing music for more than two decades. Both Greg & Shane played an integral part in the emergence of House music in Cork City between the years of 1988 and 2001 as their well renowned 'Sweat' night at Sir Henrys helped to attract a host of talent, such as Kerri Chandler, Laurent Garnier, DJ Deep, Glenn Underground, Derrick May just to name a few. It's a big, big honour to have them on aboard for this debut on Local Talk.First track, Off Script, takes us straight back to the days of Prescription. The driving kick and bassline, warm pads and a hypnotic melody line that crescendos throughout the track keeping you hooked from start to finish. On the flip, Northern Reach, follows on the same theme. It hits deep, the strings adds that extra bit of drama and again showing the duo's skill in creating perfect atmospheric and timeless deep house. You wouldn't be surprised to hear Dixon drop this in a DJ set.

Ever since the debut, 'Communication EP' which also marked our 50th release, Alexander Lay-Far has a special place in the Local Talk family.Since then things have been going well with plenty more releases, tours, the launch of his label In-Beat-Ween Music plus a new full length album done. With so many things on the go we're of course very happy to welcome Lay-Far back and with him this time, two UK house legends that need little introduction, Ashley Beedle and Darren Morris. Together the trio produced an EP that embraces the charms of both disco and house and we think it hits on every level. The A-side is dedicated to 'Doctor Feelgood', which is just as the name suggests, a delicious disco house cut that will make you feel good. Extra bonus points for the wonky bassline. On the flip, you'll find two versions of Slope. The first one is an easy / breezy number built around jazzy drums, warm chords to catch your breath for a minute or two, lovers of rhodes should lend the track an extra ear, it's pure bliss. After those 5 minutes and 14 seconds has ended Lay-Far steps into the remix arena, turns up the tempo and sends the track straight to the dance floor. No need to fiddle around too much, he just sprinkles some extra touches of Lay-Far magic to the original and voila, it's done.

Local Talk release no.61 is 'Bewyste EP', a unique and contagious take on house music by Esa & Mervin Granger. The opening track, Bontas lures you deep into Esa's forward thinking house music, it's raw, percussive and wondrously catchy with a organic feel. It might sound pretty straight forward but don't let that fool you. There are many layers of fx and clever programming which makes Esa stray away from the norm when it comes to producing and that's what we love. Next up is MVK, a perfectly balanced deep house number that builds slowly with a lush combination of chords and piano. Watch out for the thumpin bass, it transforms the track into something really special and takes it to another level. On the flip Boddhi Satva delivers a remix worthy of a big sound system. His Ancestral Soul Mix of Bontas is delicate swinging congas and claps, garnished with a twisted synth line just waiting to explode. It's pure soul and groove showcasing Boddhi's unique quality and musicianship. A fine addition to the Local Talk discography.

With his impeccable sense of rhythm and combining deep and playful house with madly tweaking synths, 'Eye Light' and 'Silent Sing' are possibly the most exciting house tracks Crackazat has produced so far. The title track Eye Light is a lesson in how to make house music that both punches and caresses, while the 'It's A Jam' version with its soulful chord progression is perfect for a Sunday afternoon session, Blaze fans take notice. The b-side opens up with a rework of 'Silent Sing', this version is a proto-techno jazz fest. Ending the 12" is a close friend of Kerri Chandler and Local Talk, Mikael Nordgren aka Tiger Stripes. His remix is a stripped down and dark techno cut with a rolling bassline and tight claps. Very different from the original but yet oh so funky! In short: Another release that keeps this talented producer one step ahead of the competition. Kiko has created something that's both atmospheric and haunting at the same time. If you've ever searched for a track to play when the sun goes down, here it is.

He's young, gifted and Italian! Corrado Bucci is the latest star to enter the Local Talk family of house. He currently holds the A&R position at Rebirth Records where he also put out the beautiful "Open Your Eyes" single last year. He previously also released on Defected and has earned respect from people like Gilles Peterson, Jimpster, Dan Curtin, Agoria, X-Press 2, Ben Westbeech and Solomun to name just a few. The hype is on and Corrado have already started gathering a reputation within the house music community with his symphonic sound that incorporates everything from jazz to electronica. His Local Talk debut is an instant classic. Starting with 'It's Not Over', a mesmerising piano loops meet a bouncy bass line that makes a magnificent house winner. Continuing we find the deeper and more melodic title track 'No One Can Stop Us' that features beautiful strings and old-school soul samples. The EP also includes remixes by Martin Patino (Cadenza, Freerange, Trapez) and Turbojazz (CTHI, GAMM), the former being a total makeover with a dark and gritty big room yet underground feel, while fellow Italian producer Turbojazz gives the same track a more Detroit(ish) jazzy feel. Deep and melodic but still with a raw feel.

It's been Local Talk bosses Mad Mats & Tooli's secret weapon during their DJ sets over the past months and have destroyed clubs from London to Berlin. With a super catchy chord theme, bumpy 4/4 beats and a slight UK feel this is as bad as it gets. It's just one of those tunes you immediately recognise and can relate with. Together with a deep journey house remix from AD Bourke and a fierce UK inspired bass/house mix from Colognes HADE we dare to say that this is one the finest releases on Local Talk so far. Original Bristol cat Crackazat (now residing in Uppsala, Sweden) got a sound that fuses jazz theories, electronic 4/4s with a deep UK underground mentality. Think Underground Resistance meets Floating Points and your almost there. Somewhere Else is the second single from Crackazat on Local Talk and in early 2015 he will drop his debut album Crescendo on Local Talk.

We're very honoured to welcome the Cologne-based producers Hade + Gutta to the Local Talk family. Their debut release marks a further development of the Local Talk sound, balancing between house & bass. The EP kicks off with "Nothing Wrong", a track built around a bouncy bass riff that lingers and weaves around a clever vocal splicing. "In Me" continues where "Nothing Wrong" left off but adds more depth and ingenious stabs, it's a 100% bouncing track for sure. Ending the EP is HADE's solo number 'Baphome'. A bass fuelled floor packer with nicely interwoven synths and a hypnotic house groove that remains present throughout the track. In conclusion - A garage-esqe belter with the right amount of wobbly bass to satisfy all your DJ & dance floor needs.

With a discography of releases dating back to 1991, New York native Henry Maldonado credits his home city as inspiration and motivation for his art. As part of the House 2 House trio on Strictly Rhythm, Maldonado and crew would fire out a relentless assault of New York style sampled and deep house tracks coveted by New York mainstays Little Louie Vega, Kenny Dope Gonzalez, Tony Humphries, Roger Sanchez, Timmy Regisford to name but a few. Today Henry produces and DJs as Son Of Sound and continues to push the limits of the underground by taking his knowledge of the past, combining it with a deep love for the city he grew up in and a penchant for quality underground club culture. Henry's debut on Local Talk is nothing less than a proper power package. Violent Mood Things start things in a superb way with a catchy beat, before a clever string sample and several layers of synths lift the track to new heights. Robert Arnold aka Cuthead has impressed us with his releases on Uncanny Valley and Kunst:stoff Breakz and delivers a remix that has all the Cuthead trademarks. Stammering drumming, impeccable bass programming and dreamy samples. Flip over for True Indeed . How does it sound? Let's just say this : It's the perfect example that all you need is a beat, a few chords and a bass line to make a track that won't leave your head for quite a while. Not forgetting that spoken vocal for that little extra house magic. Lovers of house music take notice!

Mr Saag is back for his third release on Local Talk, "In The Box" and this time he went all in. This 12" provides a meaty affair with firm drums, well-treated vocal snippets, organ hooks and the works. The opening track "In The Box" uses strong synth stabs to full effect and the marriage of percussive and crunchy rhythms in this track is Saag at his best. It's so good we decided to include a drum track of it too! "Suddenly I Woke Up" is basement house with organ hook, afro percussive rhythms and a bassline from the deep depths of Detroit.

Having lived and breathed music since the late 80s Danny is an avid crate digger, Jazz musician, producer, re-mixer and DJ. The opening track 'Morning' is all about the rhythm, it's house with an irresistible swing, strong piano hook and chants. Making a return to the label is one of electronic music's most prolific producer duos, DJs, and live acts, Kyodai. Their remix of Mr Ruff is one of those end of the night tracks you do not want to end while the original version is one bumpy and syncopated bass synth driven workout.

Its time for Local Talk to go local again with another Swedish producer, Eric Eriksson. With numerous releases out in labels like Planet E, Fragile and Freerange he's one of those producers with one foot in the techno scene and another in the more soulful house scene. Basically, he's not a one trick pony! For his release on Local Talk we would say he lands somewhere between classic Chi-Town house and thumping NYC house groove but without sounding too retro or washed out. Its simply real house music! We begin with Love It, a real bumpy house track with analogue basslines and swinging fender grooves that will work both stateside and in the european house clubs. The second track The Chi is as the title suggest a homage to Chicago with a slight old school Boo Williams fee. - dope! But thats not all, to give the release a broader twist we got man of the moment Oskar Offerman (Berlin) to remix Love It for us. Oskar goes more deep with his trademark sound and gives us a dark mix that will sound amazing in your favourite Berlin club of choice.

Sometimes it's best to let the music do the talking, this is one of those occasions. Local Talk's 46th release comes from exciting debutant Sameed. Little did we know about Sameed before we got the four tracks for this 12", for all we know it could be your neighbour. Quick-firing the release is Spend, functional as a set highlight with its dubby chords, vocal snippets and a wonky bassline. Included on the b-side is a dub that will work perfect as a DJ tool for those who want to go a little bit deeper. Showcasing Sameed's sense for keeping things stripped down and sweaty , Still is a dirty exercise in acid witchcraft while Getyoself can best be described as a delicately raw rhythm with dark textures.

B Side activity comes from Chesus & Timmy P as the energy ramps back up with "Vitamin C" from these two longtime Local Talk members. Together they've made a a truly brilliant dance track that packs a serious punch and will wriggle those speaker screws loose.

When Luke Solomon got in touch and said he wanted to work with Local Talk we felt both honoured and happy, especially since we've been fans for a long time and Mats actually booked him to his Raw Fusion club in the late 90s. He's been around long enough to be considered a legend within the scene. We couldn't agree more. Lost Channels, a 130 bpm piano driven and punk-dubby New York inspired house track comes in two versions. The Raw & Stripped Version is exactly what the name says, sharp snares & hi-hats, piano chords, a driving rhythm with Luke's trademark percussion sprinkled on top. The Live Piano Version is actually the original version and is peppered with more of everything. Bubbly FX, more of that staccato piano and of course that muscular bassline. For remix duties it's the return of an old Local Talk friend, Wil Maddams. It seems like Wil has spent some time in Detroit since last time. This remix sounds like something that would come straight out of the D, his clever drum programming holds this track together with it's deep pads and bubbling bassline. It's a retro (but fresh) techno jam for 2014.

Here we present Good Vibrations, the debut EP on Local Talk from Canadian producer Orazio Fantini. The best thing with this EP is that it's simply straight up house music that is both deep yet raw and funky all at the same time. Basically, its very Local Talk ;) First track ”To The Ball” starts off with a bubbling bass line, followed with shuffling hi-hats and swinging beat that’s glued together by glistering synth stabs, infectious to say the least. Turn the record over for ”Feel it” which showcases Fantini’s clever use of vocal samples blended together with the perfect swing and last not but not least, ”On Hold” is a stripped track but with all the necessary elements to make the feet move.

Little is known about mysterious producer Tommy Rawson. Our first acquaintance was the aptly named ”Shy Track” on Red Rack'em’s Smugglers Inn 001 release. We tried to find out more but the trail got cold pretty quick. It was not until hearing Gilles Peterson playing a version of Hugh Masekela’s ”Don’t Go Lose It baby” on his show that word got around, Tommy Rawson was back. This particular anthemic track found it’s way to Mats who then started playing it out and every time, in every club no matter where in the world the reaction was same, people completely lost it on the dance floor! We had but no choice to release the track and luckily enought Tommy must have a sixth sense because at the same time Mats blasted the track at the Local Talk office to convince Tooli shouting ”this is the next big release for Local Talk, I’m telling you!!” another track made it into his mailbox, the soulful house jam Brenda Done Died With No Name. Both tracks ended up on this 12” of course. Mr Rawson has delivered the goods here, warm, sunsplashed music all the way. A name to watch for this year and probably not mysterious for long.
