Improvised spiritual jazz from Joe Henderson and Alice Coltrane.
"The Elements" was originally recorded in 1973 and marked a move away from the post bop that Henderson was known for. Working with Coltrane on piano and harp, violinist Michael White, Charlie Haden on bass, percussionist Kenneth Nash and Baba Duru Oshun on tablas, the veteran saxophonist explored themes inspired by the four elements. The musicians brought in strains of Latin American, Indian, and Native American music, while imbuing the recordings with spirituality and soulfulness. Four tracks in all. Released by Milestone Records on 180 gram vinyl housed in a full color sleeve.

Digger's favorite featuring the jazz-funk classic "Celestial Blues."
Harlem Bush Music was originally recorded in 1970 and 1971, and is infused with the fury of the Vietnam War protest and the Civil Rights movement. Led by the powerful vocals of Andy Bey, the album tackles themes that are just as relevant today as when the music was recorded. It's an adventurous recording that pushes against the boundaries of jazz using elements of spoken word and free jazz to communicate its message. Five tracks in all. Released by Milestone Records on 180 gram vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve.
