After Mukatsuku Records summer Hammond Organ screamer from Billy Hawks (MUKAT 052) the label goes deep on an international funk tip. Few years ago label manager Nik played in France and the promoter pulled out a Biosis now 45 that he never knew existed up till then and was generally thought to be a long album track only. An extensive search revealed nothing online including popsike/discogs/ebay except a tropical seller who'd just bought a huge caribbean collection with the record included saying he'd never seen it before either and he was keeping it…Failing to secure a copy themselves the label licensed it instead and created their own 45 edit which retains all the funk & soul of the elongated album version into a 7 inch friendly format. On the flipside and 1973 Tumba Safari from Afro Train get's a funky afrobeat re touch for peak time club play that would save you several hundred pounds on an original if you could actually find a copy !

Heavy Hammond organ led driving ancefloor devastation on 'Whip It On Me' taken from the 'Heavy Soul' album from 1968. On flipside and taken from the New Genius of The Blues album from 1967 and the first time ever on a 45 is Billy's killer rendition of 'Got My Mojo Working (But It Just Won't Work On You) featuring Mr Hawks on vocals and organ and Joseph Jones on guitar. Powerful stuff from the Mukatsuku camp and another essential single for your record box!

As part of our 10 years anniversary Mukatsuku is proud to release the holy grail instrumental long version co produced by Tommy Stewart of ‘Brotherson’ from Atlanta USA resident Ojeda Penn. There were two versions of the album Happiness on the IFE independent label. They looked almost identical but the first version contained the now rarer elongated jazz fused instrumental version of ‘Brotherson’ and then a few months later they recut the album with a much shorter version adding strings and vocals.

We find a one-off recording from the African Soul Band. Suspected to only receive a French release before, the Senegalese staccato vocals warp themselves neatly over the mirroring timbale and stark dramatic strings. Wganda Kenya's "El Abanico" is much more trad-funk in its make up thanks to a slinky bassline, a dominant wah-wah guitar hook and Brown-like vocals calling out for the party people. In keeping with Nik's rarity score, "El Abanico" can't be found on any of Wganda Kenya's six albums.
