Yves Tumor - Serpent Music
Yves Tumor
Serpent Music
LP | 2016 | EU | Original (PAN)
21,99 €*
Release:2016 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
The enigmatic Tennessee-raised, Turin-based Yves Tumor presents a poignant new album, recorded between Miami, Leipzig, Los Angeles and Berlin over the past three years.Evolved from a diverse and prolific creative history under an expansive plethora of covert aliases via various forward-thinking labels, ‘Yves Tumor’ emerges as his most personal and matured incarnation to date. With involvement across various artistic outlets expanding to fashion such as a visceral live performance for LA’s Hood By Air earlier this year, the global artist has built a distinctly bold personal aesthetic both musically and visually as a performer.Painstakingly written from pieces developed upon since 2013, the new record, titled ‘Serpent Music’, was initially composed as a soul record – based around delicate and emotive songwriting in various forms. It was a highly difficult project to undertake on both a creative and personal level, weaving thematic links through paranoia, social anxiety, and missing loved ones. “The songs come from a much more emotional and very vulnerable place… They’re very close to me and I’ve been cautious of how I would eventually present them to the world.” he explains. The album spans sonically diverse and richly-textured pieces, formed from live, organic instruments, samples and various field recordings. Dreamlike lo-fi psychedelia sits alongside broken electronic experimentations, ambient compositions between abrasive noise offer insight into a haunting otherworld. From melodic choral vocals and soaring synths, to screeching guitar riffs, dramatic spoken word samples and live drumming, ‘Serpent Music’ evidently moves through a strange and intriguing personal journey. The album is mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at D&M, featuring photography by Daniel Sannwald.
Errorsmith - Superlative Fatigue
Superlative Fatigue
2LP | 2017 | EU | Original (PAN)

Release:2017 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
Returning with his first album in 13 years, Errorsmith’s ‘Superlative Fatigue’ long-awaited release on PAN arrives as his perhaps most optimistic record yet.Placing a strong emphasis on spectral exploration, the tracks tell an inherent story and span a musical arc with his recognisable synthesised tones, computerised vocal effects and timbral changes in motion. In comparison to his previous productions, Errorsmith (Erik Wiegand) sees the release as less abstract, harsh or aggressive: “I would say it is rather accessible and cheerful; at times ridiculously cheerful but still very sincere and emotional.” He suggests. “I find it touching when this little android raises its pitch at the end of ‘Lightspeed’ or the android catching its breath in ‘My Party’ for instance.”The album title, ‘Superlative Fatigue’ reflects this tension between an over-the-top, hysterical emotion, against more deeply felt expressions or realness. Besides collaborating with the likes of Mark Fell, to Berghain resident Fiedel as MMM, and Soundstream as Smith N Hack, Wiegand has released a string of seminal dancefloor tracks. Building his own instruments using modular software synthesizers is a large part of his work. Where almost all the sounds in the LP were created with his synth, ‘Razor’, (a synthesizer plug-in he developed for Native instruments, released in 2011) or slightly modified versions of it.Premiered at Unsound Festival last year, this new material he has developed since has finally taken form in this epic full-length.The album is mastered by Rashad Becker, featuring artwork by James Hoff and layout by Bill Kouligas.
Still - I
LP | 2017 | EU | Original (PAN)
20,99 €*
Release:2017 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance, Reggae / Dancehall
Hundebiss bossman Simone Trabucchi - a pivotal figure of the Italian scene - debuts his STILL alias on PAN with a batch of banging, multi-layered dancehall tracks inspired by the complex historical links between his hometown, Vernasca, with Jamaica, and Italy’s colonial past in Ethiopia.Part of a wider visual arts project, Invernomuto, helmed alongside Simone Bertuzzi, and comprising a series of sculptures, installations, a book, and a long-feature experimental documentary under the title ‘Negus’‘, Simone takes cues from a “cleansing counter-ritual performed by Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry in the Vernasca square where 80 years earlier, an effigy of Haile Selassie I was burned” to cook up a madd set of dancehall tracks voiced by six Milan-based, African-Italian vocalists and singers. The results weigh in remarkably close to the colourful, plugged-in dancehall art/science of Equiknoxx, effectively pulling together the diffracted aspects of his project into a direct yet psychedelically-charged set which strongly reverberates with its roots.Keener observers will be quick to identity the amazing Nazenet (Wasp Rhythm) as a vocal version of STILL’s uncredited Untitled riddim from Halcyon veil’s Conspiración Progressocompilation, but unless you’ve been listening to Bill Kouligas DJ sets, the rest is all new and exclusive, taking in the weightless prayer of Haile Selassie Is The Micro-Chip, wobbly acid hall knocks in Bubbling Ambessa, and the meter-messing flux of Rough Rider along with style recalling that Vipra ace on Presto!? in Banzina, plus the warped Bionic Ras bumps of Gozpaal and some seriously salty dubbing in the plasmic squeeze of Mangrovia
M.E.S.H. - Hesaitix

Further departing from both the cinematic abstraction of ‘Piteous Gate’ and the hectic drums of ‘Damaged Merc’, Berlin producer M.E.S.H.’s new full-length, ‘Hesaitix’, is marked by its hyper-ornamented rhythms and a sense of pensive, moonlit spaces. The atmosphere has shifted; the radical deconstruction of previous releases has given way to subtler interventions, building new structures in strange territories. Shifting from the meditative to states of manic unease, Hesaitix is an unnerving injection into both the social space of club music and the interior space of digital audio fantasy. How did I become so stupid?A sound can be both formless and over-rendered, like a boneless but fleshy hand from a lifedrawing class. What agent could set these broken sounds in motion?A laugh behind an evil curtain. A drummer that’s cool and grotesque, a detuned siren. A brushfireunder a full moon.Recorded in Berlin and Umbria, Hesaitix sees Janus resident and PAN staple M.E.S.H. firmlyengaged in a kind of sonic worldbuilding, a place where the unconscious and the alien intersect

PAN grip one of Europe’s finest freaks - Dennis Tyfus ov Ultra Eczema infamy - for a head-wobbling collage of tapes loops and concrète clangour contrasted with a side of extended vocal technique and electronics.‘Knerpen! (Bevel)’ translates reflexive, haptic actions into freeform sequences of “scrunched” loops and location recordings on the A-side, whilst juxtaposing opera singer and actress Emilie Fleamountains with warbling tape improvisation on the other side.Jarring perfectly with the label’s recent run of idiosyncratic zingers from Errorsmith & Mark Fell, Helm, Lifted, and M.E.S.H., Tyfus spools away on his own trajectory into a ferric miasma of alien, avant sound. The first side works in a lo-fi textural tradition running from M.B. to Wolf Eyes via much more zonked outliers - many of whom have released on Tyfus’ Antwerp-based stable of instability, Ultra Eczema - threading a series of piercing, shocking and unhinged improvisations across your mucky tape head.In stark relief, the B-side opens out with Emilie Fleamountains’ multitracked, operatic vox blossoming strange harmonics skewed by unpredictable, extreme pitch shifts for the first half, before invoking a schizoid hall-of-mirrors sound twisting and scrunching his tapes into disorienting möbius loops and backwoods wail.
