Rinse are proud to present the debut full-length album by London producer Faze Miyake. Four years since the firey swagger of his debut single ‘Take Off’ and its follow-up Second Six exploded onto dancefloors, Faze Miyake is a definitive and thrilling realisation of his signature sound. A sharp, vividly rendered club record, it casts his characteristic sonic traits in shocking hi-def, with disorienting hi-hat whirls and string stabs steeped in ever-present, body-shuddering sub-bass - a dazzling, dreamlike vision of 21st century sound system music.

Dark0, an artist well-versed in the art of producing grand and cinematic, melody-laced beats, debuts for Rinse with both acclaim and crucially, momentum. First fully recognised by his self-released “ZERO” mixtape and a sparkling debut for Visionist’s vital Lost Codes imprint back in 2014, his work is a testament to focused, self-fulfilling vision and the contexts within which he hopes it be judged. Although the music still fits best within the blurry, ever-changing world of instrumental grime, his approach to sampling, melody, texture and composition set him apart from his contemporaries. In short, he’s an artist operating firmly in his own space. ‘Solace’ itself, a five track ode to a multitude of themes - beauty, heartbreak, love, anguish - is a gorgeous introduction to his producer mindset. Melodies shimmer, pitched-up vocals glisten and 808 licks add power and bite in a shiny, picture-book world of an EP. The dreamy, thugged-out heartache on lush opener ‘Abrasion’ is a nod to tracks like the cult ‘Sweet Boy Pose, while the thinly-veiled bounce and playful melodies on ‘Fuchsia’ are attune to richer, more measured sound design - the sort that could comfortably provide a foil for the next generation of US rappers. The markedly robust ‘Spiral’ sees Dark0 make a fleeting return to his grime-centric roots with gritty kicks and razor sharp claps offset by a succession of sweet, swirling melodies in a marriage of rough and smooth, while the stunning, buoyant calm of ‘The Past’ draws Solace to a close in a fitting, self-reflective mood. There is also room for US rap producer starlet Suicideyear to turn a dark, sorcerous hand to ‘Abrasion’, reversing the melodies and flipping the bassline to prove just how fluid and multi-contextual Dark0’s sound really is.

XXXY evinced a serious knack for turning his hand to the variety of styles that build the broad genre of Bass music. This: his latest ‘Regrets’ EP stands to illustrate this knack perfectly and is a vibrant blend of analogue drums, swooning synths and thick, warm bass tones. The title track kicks things off with sharp hats galloping atop brooding chord changes before filters open up and build a thick and tense tone. Tense, jarring stabs push progress forwards before 12049 drives a rubbery and reverberated kick under softly warped synth tones and stripped but purposeful percussion. Over Peover then sits a panned synth string circling atop tough, crunching percussion and a propulsive synth riff. A rich, heart-rending bass tone is driven in beneath ahead of a rapturous, elongated breakdown that wraps up another coup for Rinse and a solid addition to the catalogue.

The next release on Rinse comes from Laura Clock, with a four-track EP of spacious, melody-driven songs named Baby Part I. Clock crafts a music that is alive with contrasts . Shimmery in tone yet shot through with powerful sub-bass and percussive trickery, her songs feel simultaneously weightless and overpowering, and pack a striking emotional resonance. Laura Clock first made her voice known on oOoOO's 'NoWayBack' EP .Baby Part I marks the follow-up to her acclaimed 2013 debut First Prom, released under the name ButterClock . It was written, produced and recorded by Clock over the course of 2014 following several years of near-constant touring, and explores similar lyrical themes to its predecessor - “ sad love , melancholia and dance beats,” as she puts it. “‘Cause we never really change, do we? Dancing and crying at the same time, forever.”Yet Baby Part I nonetheless finds her in a distinct sonic place: subtler, bolder and more expansive in vision. That shift is crystallized in lead track ‘Fade’, a translucent dancehall-of-mirrors of an electronic pop song that finds Clock wandering through a maze of reggaeton rhythms and glassy-eyed melodies. The same sense of being adrift in sound and light runs throughout the EP. Exquisitely spaced-out ‘Fantasy’, produced by Ana Caprix, weaves sound, mood and lyrics into an inseparable whole - Clock sings of becoming “lost inside” as her voice half-melts into its surroundings, swallowed up by chiming melodies and blinding-white synth drifts. ‘Cold’ is both moving and quietly uneasy, her lyrics delivered with an aching synthetic bite. Finally, ‘Slowly’ is a headlong soundclash between Clock’s sorrow-laden voice, synthetic choral synths and crunching rap beats, featuring a fast-paced turn from rapper Nina B - the EP’s most striking moment and its dizzying emotional peak.

‘Never Enough’ builds from a minimalist, dubbed-out opening into a streamlined, acid-flecked house rhythm, whose central bass motif springs wildly around the mix like a rubber ball. ‘No More’ drops listeners and DJs right into the action from the beginning, coasting upward upon a deliriously catchy three-note organ motif that feels like being thrust into the middle of a peak-time club set. It crescendos with a huge, reverberant breakdown, before a shower of melodic fragments rain down like shards of shattered glass, sending the track into joyful overdrive.
