Höre zuund warte, befreie Herz und Seele – and dream, dream, dream, my lonely one..

Before Thou released their 2014 album Summit (Gambit Big Easy award-winner), they spent the spring of 2008 rushing to complete their second full-length, Peasant, in time for a month-and-a-half trek across the United States. This record would be their last true album to abandon melody for the self-indulgent, Southern-style sludge-riffing that had most of their early fans saying, “I thought you’d be bigger with more tattoos and beards.” Originally released on vinyl by Level Plane Records, this edition—remastered by Adam Tucker (Signature Tone Recording)—is housed in a tip-on style gatefold jacket with 180-gram black vinyl, a twenty-page booklet, and poster. This double-LP also offers the complete version, including the CD-only tracks from the To Carry a Stone EP (released in 2008 by Noxious Noize) as well as bonus tracks from the Malfeasance / Retribution EP (released in 2008 on Feast of Tentacles and Rimbaud) and an unreleased cover of Nirvana’s “Aneurysm.”

Release:2009 / US – Reissue
Genre:Rock / Indie
The music of Isis is a suitable metaphor for their twelve-year career: patient, meticulous, fraught with tension and gradually building toward an apex of seismic proportions. They have successfully navigated the process of growing and evolving without disavowing their initial vision. On Wavering Radiant every component of this armory comes into equal play — an audiophile’s dream : grandiose without over-indulgence, epic without compromised focus. This is their fifth and final full-length album, last released by Ipecac Recordings in 2009 and produced by Joe Barresi and recently remastered for vinyl by Mika Jussila. The band split just over a year after its release. This album continues the band’s history of lengthy songwriting, yet presents a slight departure from the soft-loud dynamics and post-metal aesthetic that characterized previous releases. Reviewers noted a continued increase in melody, and many were quick to note an increased prominence of keyboardist Bryant Clifford Meyer’s work, using a Hammond B3 organ. In keeping with the band’s retinue of concept albums, a thematic strand runs throughout, dealing with dreams and Jungian psychology. Robotic Empire is thrilled once again to supply the gatefold, double-LP vinyl edition of this classic album.

The music of Genevieve Ludwig, Owen Wuerker, Chris Taylor, and Emma Baker embraces collectivity and experimentation, imbued with the tension and intimacy of close friendship. Writing is communal, and everyone sings. Big Hush songs are sharpened by the unpredictable acoustics of DIY show spaces and recorded later in a basement studio. Edits are made in the backseat of a Volvo with the windows down. The songs are mostly three-minute concentrations of moody, solid indie-pop songwriting, with melodic dueling vocals and harmonies that poke out above the hiss of tape and distorted guitars. The songs for Wholes and Who’s Smoking Your Spirit? were written and recorded in 2014 and 2015, exploring intersections between harmony-laden melancholy, off-kilter punk urgency, and the lush cacophony of shoegaze. They document the group’s cultivation of a complex and original aesthetic, one that cuts through dense textures, arrangements and harmonies with a searing, catchy clarity. Now available on vinyl and re-mastered specifically for that format, these two are combined onto one album that also includes a new bonus track.

Pittsburgh tech-metal hactivists Creation Is Crucifixion emulate Lazarus with a double-LP collecting their last recordings along with an impressive live set. The “final” recording by the band’s last active lineup, the long-rumored nine-minute opus “Antenna Builder” brilliantly merges their heavy technical metal along with the noise passages for which they are reknowned. The lineup’s similarly oppressive Rerecorded Splits tracks, some of the highest-fidelity recordings from the band’s extensive output, fleshes out the first disc in this gatefold double-LP package. Accompanying the studio material is a live LP from a classic set recorded on the last Creation Is Crucifixion European tour, captured live in Geneva during May of the millennial year. These fifteen-year-old recordings showcase tracks from across the band’s catalog, with a higher clarity than some of their raw studio recordings. Specifically mastered for vinyl by James Plotkin, the Antenna Builder + Rerecorded Splits / Live in Geneva 2xLP comes housed in a stark black-and-white gatefold jacket with gold ink overlaid. A digital download of the full release is included.

Miami, Florida’s Wrong formed from the ashes of Capsule and debut with the absolutely pummeling Stop Giving EP. With an emphasis on bludgeon and groove, it’s hard not to compare their first recordings to heyday-era Helmet. But Wrong brings their own dissonance, atmosphere and attitude in a massive combination of power and skill. This is truly an impressive first effort, and preludes a full-length due on Robotic Empire later this year. The four-track EP plays at 45 RPM, comes in silk-screened packaging with artwork by Torche’s Rick Smith, and includes a high-quality digital download.

Easily one of the most exciting modern sludge / doom bands going, Louisiana's Thou channels lifetimes of depression and decay on Baton Rouge, You Have Much to Answer For. With scathing commentary laid down by hateful blackened vocals, the band delivers some of the most crushing riffs in ages. Incredibly deep tones and bludgeoning drumming are combined with a surprising amount of melody, making for a powerfully heavy release. Two pummeling tracks over 15 minutes span the A-side, while the flip contains an instrumental drone piece along with a spectacular Nirvana cover that puts a completely crushing take on the Bleach-era tune "Sifting." More than 30 minutes of music housed in a striking gatefold LP jacket, Baton Rouge is one of Thou's strongest releases yet.
