Remixes By Call Super + Fett BurgerRing, ring! Hot on the heels of the transcendental and mystical “Vibe Telemetry” long-player of the man like Telephones, we proudly present: Vibe Remixes. Some of you might notice the irony between the lines. A producer who goes by the name of Call Super is remixing an artist known as Telephones. But, we rather rivet you on his 8:59 long skippy dub journey that recalls (pun intended) an atmosphere that could be found in the space between Smith & Mighty, the LTJ Bukem of his youth, Italian house records, British Balearics and bass affine music (of whatever providence). A magical mystery. But we don’t hang up here. DJ Fett Burger is treating the other side and only he himself knows how he made what he did. 14:51 min of almost every style ever invented in the scope of house music. Designed for people blessed with an everlastingly short attention span and DJs on the lookout for a toilet break and a coffee break or whichever break, it leaves its listener speechless. And: it’s so much fun that once it’s over, you want to redial Fett Burger’s number immediately.

Release:2016 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
The eye of the storm: welcome to Tornado Wallace’s debut album! The accumulation of about four years of work, with tracks written in Berlin and Melbourne, ‘Lonely Planet’ is nothing like you may have expected from the Australian expat. No stranger to fans and followers of ESP Institute, Beats in Space and Music From Memory’s sister Label Second Circle, Tornado Wallace’s strain of releases so far merged functionality with a musical playfulness that led him to find himself as one of the producer’s behind José Padilla’s International Feel album. Here, he leaves the needs of the dance floor behind in order to create a magical mystery tour de trance into his and our inner jungle. How about some references? New Age sounds meet new wave melodies, Grace Jones runs into the Dire Straits at Compass Point, while a Korg Mini Pops and a Roland CR78 make amends for Sly & Robbie’s absence, Michael Mann pictures Joseph Conrad’s ‘Heart of Darkness’, Robert Rauschenberg tries his luck at naturalism and an imagined Wally Badarou echoes through all of it. Sandwiched between the title track and the yearning beauty of the album’s final point ‘Healing Feeling’, you get all of that as well as collaborations with and contributions of NO ZU, David Hischfelder and the voice of Sui Zhen on ‘Today’, who would easily make Anna Domino take her proverbial hat off. Tornado Wallace created an album that supersedes the requirements and expectations of a debut. Like a lost Island Records or a never released Made to Measure album, ‘Lonely Planet’ soundtracks notions and ideas that recall the nostalgic future in the past as much as it looks ahead.
Henrik Schwarz - Not Also You

Not Also You

Release:2017 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
Henrik Schwarz'first work for Running Back and concurrent solo piece since 2013 is a prime example of the man's uncanny production abilities. Recent years saw Schwarz more and more gravitating towards the intersections between electronic music and jazz, classical compositions or african sounds than serving the weekly bread and butter at clubland's busy buffet car. Now, Not Also You is a return to exactly that honourable craft and service. Built around an imagined and imaginary curtain lecture from a saint to a sinner and housed in one of Henrik's "most techno” looking robes as of yet, it's a no-brainer or shall we dare say a reaper of a track - without frills but with a Fata Morgana like rave signal. Oh, there is a dub for snobs (Not You Also), too. Peak time, high time, any time. Nice sleeve on top.

"10 Years Redshape Live is a special thank you to the labels I mainly worked with in the past ten years and also to all the people on world’s dance floors, which gave me so many stellar moments. Starting on Running Back, the "Best Of Live” series will contain tracks which were only part of my live set: previously unavailable and not even arranged as full tracks. As I always record my shows, I searched for the moment, in which each of those tracks had their biggest and also earliest impact. I took that recording and rebuild them part by part to make them proper DJ versions without loosing their live roots. Named after the cities where they were performed. Av Aviv and Rome.

Two years ago I played at Studio 9 in Vilnius, Lithuania. The following day I missed my flight home and ended up spending an extra day, which gave me a chance to explore the city with my friend Linus, who took me to the Contemporary Art Centre. It was there I spotted a book named ‘Rojus’, that Linus told me translated as ‘Paradise’. The word and striking cover of the book stuck in my mind. A few days after returning home, I turned on to a National Geographic documentary named ‘Designed To Dance’, explaining the courtship rituals of Birds Of Paradise. As I watched, i jokingly began drawing similarities between these birds’ attempts to captivate and impress the opposite sex with dance, and the way strangers try to attract one another in clubs and interact on the dance floor. This gave me the idea of creating a record of functional club music, sequenced as if it were a club night, from doors to closing, using samples of these Birds Of Paradise and their habitat. Thus, Rojus. Leon Vynehall 2016

The music Strahil Velchev alias KiNK creates for the 12-inch format is as playful and fanciful as it is functional and precise. His first outing for Running Back is no exception. Inspired by the hardware of the same name, his “Cloud Generator EP” makes the most use of that. Computer nerd symphonies and cyberpunk melodies for clubs, roofless raves and virtual racing games. Wilhelm Reich and William Gibson would enjoy this. Oh, and there is a breakbeat mix on here as well.

Third time is a charm. The Analogue Acid Project by Todd Osborn and Tadd Mullinix resulted in two records in 2005 and 2006 that excelled at the fabrication of gritty acid jak tracks Now, Todd N Tadd alias TNT aka the dynamite duo finally returns. Their third outing and first one on Running Back, is a detonative reunion of old and new friends. With two previously unreleased beat tracks on one side plus carefully tailored reissues of Hotness (from the blue record) and Beat This House (from the red record), you get a box of dynamite sticks in various sizes for different situations. More than ten years later and still as explosive. Fire in the hole!

In times where a compilation of 12-inch bangers passes as an album, Telephones "Vibe Telemetry” opts for a different approach. Without being a departure from his 12″s for Sex Tags Ufo, Full Pupp and yours truly or his brilliant remix work for José Padilla and Vangelis Katsoulis, the Norwegian producer from Bergen who calls Berlin his home, hones sound, skills and aesthetics on his debut long-player. "Vibe Telemetry” is inspired by the pure feeling of listening to house, disco and techno, prior to knowing what it actually was: ambiguous, euphoric, mystical and melancholic. Sonic and physical experiences, which names and origins were yet to be discovered.

Much could be said about German house royalty Boris Dlugosch. From his teen DJ years under the wings of Front’s legendary Klaus Stockhausen in Hamburg to his own marvelous tenure there that is pretty much synonymous with the explosion of Acid House in its proto- and post-incarnations. One could examine his role as a herald of US garage and Jersey house or as a remixer of underground gone pop records. But we will leave that and other stories for the Front page soon. The “Traveller EP” is the result of Dlugosch and Cassara meeting at a mutual friend of theirs, getting excited about their shared love for classic synths (see Sh-101 for the Traveller bass line) and exploiting the latter’s extensive synth collection. What you get: classic disco, French house, electro-funk, DJ sound effects (that tractor plowed the Front EVERY night) and most of all fun, fun and a little bit of extra fun. Chin-stroking impossible.…

The inimitable LD Nero with his first outing for Running Back. Best-known for his merits on Trelik and a poetic sound which is distinctively his own, LD Nero immerses himself in a rare breed of deep house music that isn’t classicist, yet dateless, emotional but not kitschy, and most of all meditative without drowsiness. Devoid of any second thoughts, these are three tracks made for those wee hours in the morning that may never end.

Debut release from Brian Ring. Raised in Cork on a diet of US-American house music and disco oscillating between Sylvester and Glenn Underground, while sneaking into clubs underaged (see Sir Henry's for further reference), Ring was baptised by by David Mancuso and Theo Parrish in London (thank you Easyjet), while his record collection grew and grew. Living in Berlin now, an epiphany in some remote parts of Australia (it was 42 degrees!) resulted in him following his own path in making music. So, here we go: The “Movements EP” brings together Mike Dunn (sample has been cleared, folks), Timothy Leary and Tee Scott, puts disco roller skates on heavy-legged deep house and is most of all as much fun as it is sincere. All in a certain way that is personally his.

A nod to the good old remix double pack craze of the nineties, you will find them spread out over two plates. Ranging from a classic Tiger & Woods treatment to Prins Thomas quirkiness via Lone’s happiness, two versions by Shan, the timid DJ Oyster as well as Pete Herbert’s & Dicky Trisco’s respectful re-arrangement, this one has it all: disco, techno, jungle (alomost!), house, cheese & chocolate!

Concept record alert! “Fairlights” by Fort Romeau is a tribute to the - technically minded readers might raise an eyebrow - Australian Computer Musical Instrument that people like Peter Gabriel, Herbie Hancock or Kate Bush fell in love with during the late 1970s/early 1980s. Anyways, if Fort Romeau’s current album is like painting with oil, “Fairlights” is like drawing with permanent marker- to quote the man himself. All based on the word Saku, you will experience an epic journey evolving around heart-breaking dance-floor romanticism, jaw-breaking beat exercises, life-affirming ambient digressions, and a general feeling of spring fever.
