Release:2018 / EU – Original

Limited edition of 450 numbered copies! What a lovely album this is. To most people still unknow this LP by the Swiss band Markheim was recorded in Venice, Italy 1972.Markheim was formed in 1972 by Andreas Wyden and dissolved the same year in lack of money, leaving some curious demo tapes behind. These guys lived in Paradiso, in the canton of Ticino (the italian speaking part of Switzerland). Andreas Wyden and drummer Enzo Geninazza are swiss but I have no information about pianist Phillip Reeves and guitarist Trevor Thoms. The band traveled to Venice during summer 72 in order to record their freshly composed songs. The the demo tapes were later on remastered by the poet Dubravko Pusek from Lugano who also financed the whole project! All tracks and lyrics were composed by Andreas Wyden. The music itself is a mix of crazy progressive, folk and psych rock. Some tracks are rather experimental as well with a progressive touch. A very well produced studio recording.10 demos of a hidden treasure from Switzerland, released in 1991 on a private label in for the first “ever” in a tiny edition of 200 LP´sThe only band name reference we have found is a crime novel Markheim by Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson from 1885. We are not sure if the band name came from that novel.A good friend described the special atmosphere on this album like this: "rustic, back porch strumming with that precious stones humming and a mind for the instant chopping of original wood"This limited 180 gram pressing LP comes in heavy sleeve with an additional CD version.

Limited edition of 500 numbered copies! This album by Jesper Siliya was released originally in 1978 on the same label as Chrissy Zebby Tembo - my ancestors, which we have released as well some years ago.Jesper Siliya used to play with the Ngozi Family and most probably they play with him here. This is his sole album as a band leader, and a great one! Very catchy, simple but beautiful compositions, you'll find yourself singing those songs.Heavy fuzz-guitar all over the album. Originals are impossible to find in any condition and the prices are high. African rhythms and 70s rockish underground mood's – never too polished. A "sugar & spice" album. The music suits all fans into ZAM-Rock such as Ngozi Family, Witch and Amanaz. Fuzz guitars all over with African beats and political lyrics. This limited 180 gram pressing LP comes in heavy sleeve with an additional CD version.

Limited edition of 400 numbered copies!Cement is from the island of Gotland, 320 km east of Sweden's. This island has always been different from the rest of Sweden in many ways, with their own strong dialect and mythology. It’s a myth about Gotland before Christianization and dates back to 1350 AD. According to it Gotland was under water during day time and only surfaced during the night because of a mysterious spell cast upon the island.Cement was formed during the autumn of 1973 inspired by the aforementioned facts with two guitar players (Björn Jonsson, Anders Åström) and two drummers (Ulf Abrahamsson, Thomas Harlevi) and influenced by such bands as Mountain, Grand Funk Railroad and of course the Swedish power trio November. The recording of this album was done in 1977 and released only as a limited run of 100 cassette tapes. This is the first ever LP release of the album.Instrumentally, ”Cement - Utmaningen” is a tour de force, every bit as excellent as any of the better known heavy rock album from the Swedish 70's. As far as the songs go, there's not one single weak track on this album so the album is a true masterpiece.Heavy dual guitars, great songs, fantastic production and powerful bass, vocals and amazing drums. Way better than most known albums we have heard from Scandinavia. One of the best Swedish underground heavy rock LP's.This limited 180 gram pressing LP on colored vinyl comes in heavy sleeve with an additional CD version, 2-page insert including liner notes and photos.

Release:1978 / EU – Reissue
Genre:Rock / Indie
Limited edition of 500 numbered copies!Ngozi Family, a band that started in 1975 in Lusaka and has since been rising to stardom at a very fast rate. Bandleader Paul Dobson Nyirongo, known as Paul Ngozi got together former members of his old band The Three Years. Paul Ngozi (Nogozi means danger) with his band gave a popular voice to what later was called "Zamrock", a cool fusion of older African rhythms and 70s rockish underground modes – never too polished, but with a tightness that might have made Anglo groups up in London sit up and take notice! The guitars are razor-sharp here which sounds great next to the harder rhythms at the bottom, and the album's mix of English and Zambian lyrics. The album "Heavy Connection" was recorded in 1978 together with his drummer Chris Zebby Tembo. Originals of this album are impossible to find and the music suits all fans into the music of his other albums as well as the music of the bands Witch and Amanaz. Fuzz guitars all over with African beats and political lyrics. This limited 180 gram transparent white LP comes in a heavy sleeve and with a 2-page insert.

Release:1971 / EU – Reissue

Limited edition of 500 numbered copies!"Alrune Rod" is the Danish name for the mythical mandrake root and was the name for one of the most popular hippie bands from Denmark. We have already released the first album from 1969 and the third album from 1972. "Hej Du" is the amazing second album from 1971. Their name "Alrune Rod" was inspired by the Danish author Albert Dam’s book “Syv Fortællinger” (“Seven Stories”) from 1962 where a Robin Hood-like character is sentenced to hanging. While hanging at the end of the rope with his trousers open, he ejaculates, and a mandrake root grows up from where his sperm hits the ground. Just like in sagas where it is the blood from hanged men that nourish the mandrake root on gallows hills. The root, which always has a human-like form, is collected in this novel by a virgin who cares for it and in turn the root makes good things happen. Their musical style is often described as a hybrid between The Grateful Dead And Early Pink Floyd. This is their real masterpiece. By late summer 1970 Alrune Rod started recording their second album “Hej Du” and were given unlimited studio time at Vanløse Bio. This was a movie theater that housed and operated “Ivar Rosenberg Lydteknik” at night after the screening of the last movie. The studio was advanced for the time with a home-built multi-track tape recorder allowing for experimentation. “Hej Du” was released in June 1971 with promotional concerts by the new Alrune Rod scheduled across the country. Leif Roden later recalled that “Hej Du” came on the radio charts for weeks during the summer of 1971 and sold a record high 12,000 copies. According to the chart lists, “Hej Du” entered the bi-weekly top-10 album list on June 12th, 1971 and stayed there until August 4th, with a top position as #3 after Skousen & Ingemann (“Herfra Hvor Vi Står”) and Doors (“L.A. Woman”). Economically it was also a success. "Hej Du" is as close to an early Pink Floyd sound as any other album from Denmark. Fantastic production and great long trippy psychedelic tracks. A real masterpiece! This limited 180 gram pressing LP comes in a heavy gatefold sleeve, printed inner sleeve, Japan inner-sleeve and with a 2-page insert.

Lars Lundberg and Mats Lodén were buddies already from first grade in Luleå, located in northernmost Sweden. Although good friends, they did not share a musical interest during the first three school years. Lars was lucky enough to have a very special dad, who presented him a Hagström Standard 80 White Pearl electric guitar and a small amplifier on his 8th birthday in 1964.In 1973, Lars and Mats formed a new band together (Savannah) with old classmate Benny Sjödin. All three played the guitar. This was of course not an ideal setup for a band. The situation was solved by recruiting the one year younger Peter Larsson on drums. Lars played the bass guitar, as well as harmonica, recorder and alto saxophone. Benny and Mats doubled on the bass guitar when Lars was busy singing or playing another instrument. After the split of Savannah in 1975, Lars and Mats became heavily oriented towards early British progressive music. Lars was fond of bands like Pink Floyd, Traffic and Curved Air, while Mats favored music made by for example David Bowie, Tyrannosaurus Rex and The Doors. All songs on the album are written by Lars and Mats. With one exception, all titles and song texts are in English. There are no political ambitions whatsoever. The songs can rather be described as whimsical and psychedelic, which makes the album rather unique at the time, when Swedish music was either commercial with lyrics in English or anti-commercial with lyrics in Swedish and an outspoken political message. The album was pressed in 200 copies only, as it was intended to be a demo album. However, at the time no major Swedish record company showed any interest in the music. Lars sold his four-channel tape recorder, in order to afford the pressing. Most of the records were sold to friends and schoolmates in Luleå.There are very cool electric underground songs but others go in the direction of the best "Tony Caro & John". A great and rare Swedish album which appears in Hans Pokoras 7001 book with 6 star value.

This release features both versions of this incredible LP!!Denmark's Rainbow Band was formed in late 1969 as a supergroup consisting of Peer Frost (ex-Young Flowers), Lars Bisgaard (ex-Maxwells), Carsten Smedegaard (ex-Beefeaters), Bent Hesselmann and the former jazz players Niels Brønsted and Bo Stief. They've played jazz-influenced progressive rock in the style of Burnin' Red Ivanhoe and Traffic's second album. The rhythm section produced a powerful 60s beat, forcing Peer Frost to squeeze out some of his best guitar solos. The singer Lars Bisgaard was replaced by Allan Mortensen (ex-Tears) at the end of 1970. A Canadian group was already using the name Rainbow Band, which forced the Danish group to change their name into Midnight Sun in July 1971.Melody Maker editor Richard Williams wrote in 1971 that "the first time I heard this album, I was immediately seduced by its sense of freshness and space. The styles of playing are superficially little different from those of their brothers in Britain and America, but I find the atmosphere of this music wholly more relaxed and open".The first version of the album with vocalist Lars Bisgaard was released in December 1970. The second version replacing the original Bisgaard version with vocalist Allan Mortensen came in mid-February 1971. The third version of this album (same music but new name) came out as Midnight Sun with a new cover made by "Roger Dean".Beside the new vocals on both Rainbow Band version they differ in the songs as well. There is 1 song on the 1st version which does not appear on the 2nd version and the are 2 songs on the second version which do not appear on the 1st version.Perhaps one of the best Danish production in the 1970's, produced by Freddy Hansson & Rainbow Band and musically so well done that it will rank among the 5 best Danish 70's albums easily. A fantastic album from beginning to the end - and both version are greatThis limited numbered 180-gram pressing 2LP release comes in a heavy gatefold sleeve with printed inner-sleeves, Japan protection sleeves and a 2-page insert with liner notes and many unseen photos.

All the members of "Moonlight" came from the same town named Turku, located in the south west of Finland. They've met each other at school in the mid 70's. Their ambition was more to focus on making their own music and sing in English which was not the common in Finland at the time. Kim and Andy were the actual composers and Bob made the lyrics. Paul helped out with both from time to time. Their musical influences where Steely Dan, Procol Harum, Santana, Pink Floyd etc. but also Ian Dury and Blondie. They had a large scale of music they liked and listen to and played music by Uriah Heep, Led Zeppelin before they have started with own compositions. Their own music was as a result of a large scale of interest maybe some kind of mixture of Psychedelic and Progressive Rock and melodic softer music. Moonlight was active between mid 70's and 1979. They have got a record deal in Finland with “Top Hits“ and released their album in 1978. If you like Prog-Rock albums from Finnish bands such as Hamlet, Wigwam, Nimbus and Session, you will love this album by Moonlight for sure. Originals are very rare and for most Finnish collectors still unknown. This 180-gram vinyl LP is limited to 400 numbered copies and comes in a heavyweight cardboard sleeve and a 2-page insert.

This second album by Rävjunk includes tracks from rare singles and EP's as well as completely unknown tracks picked by Peter Ericson (drums). They were already working on this album for weeks and just before the album was done, Peter sadly left this world. This album is in memory of Peter Ericson, the great Swedish drummer and singer from Rävjunk! A great selection of songs from the early pre-Punk period ala Stooges / MC5 as well as long jamming guitar tracks influenced by German Kraut & space rock bands. The bands style was quite unique, as they were heavily influenced by the German Krautrock bands, but also saw the heavy psych movement as a bright star. Several influences are evident, but it’s all blended into something unique as each member brought their own intriguing ingredients into the music. Guitarist Christer was a Hendrix freak and singer Sören was deeply involved in the new punk rock movement. Bassist Lars-Eric was very much into Jack Bruce and Cream, while Peter the drummer was an avid fan of German bands such as CAN and Guru Guru. The first album title was translated from Swedish "Uppsala City Hotel Is Burning", this new album is translated "Uppsala City Hotel Is Burning Again!! This transparent yellow 180-gram vinyl LP is limited to 500 numbered copies and comes in a heavyweight cardboard sleeve and a 2-page insert.

Shadoks Rock & Indie
