Bleep. Easily one of the most influential sounds to grow out of the burgeoning electronics scene of the late 80s. Nowadays, easily one of the most overlooked genres. But not around Njimgen. Shipwrec are turning some deserved attention to those pioneering plinks and plonks for a 12" homage to the trailblazers of the sound, LFO. Quadratschultz provides the material, the German artist serving a warehouse brewed, acid spiked, tribute to Mark Bell and Gez Varley. Posthuman ruffle the edges that bit more with a bleary eyed 303 monster before countryman FAH gives basslines a steroid injection for a thick and meaty mix. Varley closes with a tribute to his former group. His LFO remix might be a solo endeavour but it has all the raw unrefined dancefloor energy that characterised the music of a certain pair of young lads from Leeds cerca 1990. Bleep bliss.

2015 saw Datassette in generous form, the original 'Offal' brought 100 tracks of alleged offcuts. While a rare few actually live up to this self-deprecation, it couldn't be a more misleading title. Now, 'Selected Offal' has been boiled down to a gravy-like substance for a vinyl release by the nice folks at Shipwrec. After discussions with the artist, and suggestions from fans, seventeen prime cuts have been selected for the vinyl edition of Offal, alongside a few brand new previously unheard nuggets and alternative versions. Expect a buffet of delights. Smooth electronica, abrasive funk, out-there acid experimentation, chip tune chicanery and everything in between from this chameleon of machine music.

It seemed like Neo Ouija, a Norfolk based IDM imprint, had closed up shop. Four years of silence suggested that founder Lee Norris, aka Metamatics, had decided to call it a day. But looks can be deceiving. 2016 saw the boss release a CD album of fluid acid, squelching electro and heartfelt electronics. Shipwrec are now bringing four choice cuts from Bodypop to the vinyl faithful. Proudly sitting on the "difficult to define" shelf, Norris seamlessly shifts from frigid winter moods to warming autumnal sunshine. Old-school sounds are rewired, softened by delicate keys and steady beats. Machine music morphs into organic matter. Acid coils, echoed bleeps and clicks grow and blossom into vivid audio vistas with Metamatics, once again, proving his musical mastery.

Following his acclaimed Scars of Intransigence album of 2014, Emile Facey (Plant43) is back on terra Shipwrec. On skeletal rhythm supports strings and bass intertwine, link and disappear. Facey performs audio alchemy, transforming cold chords into organic warmth, transfiguring electrical impulses into palpable emotion. Frigid currents flow through bright bars, ephemeral percussion snap at heels of soaring keys as Plant 43 draws you deeper and deeper into the bare and beautiful brilliance of Grid Connection.

From laid back Caribbean rhythms to sweat dripping bedlam, Coco Bryce comes with melting pot bubbling over with influences and styles. Mesak and FFF have been drafted in on remix duties, each adding their own flavour to this heady brew. Following his acclaimed North Bend album of 2015, Chris Roman, known as 214, is back on Shipwrec with the third in their series of single sided odysseys. A haze of bass descends for "I See What You Did There", a clipped drizzle of percussion falls before thick acid bars tremble into position. Echoes, reverb and decay merge, groan and bend as the preconceptions of ambient, electro and techno are pulled apart. In one breath dense and complex, the next grooving and future funk dipped. An epic example of 214's talent. Single sided 12" with a silkscreen printed B side. Limited to 250 copies on transparant vinyl.

Shipwrec rolls out its new remix series with a serious slab of electro red meat. The main course is served by a machine music master, Umwelt. And what else would the serving be but the rawest of electro, coarsened by surging acid and slicing snares. Accompanying the original are a triumvirate of talent. Ekman is first, ratcheting up those sticky 303 lines whilst adding his own mischief and menace for a mind-bending mix. Comes in a printed sleeve with artwork by Mehdi Rouchiche. Limited to 200 coloured copies.

Lost Trax embody the idea of underground techno. The shadowy group, members unknown, began their music careers over 20 years ago. Output may be low, but quality is high; the style being no compromise techno brilliance. And that's what's on show here. Kick drums and squirming acid bars are at the core of "Faith", a track where soaring strings shift and reshape. The chiselled claps and barbed bass of "Flatliner" follows, taking its cue from the heyday of Detroit. A watery world of analogue abstraction greets the listener on the flip, "Lost" being an atmospheric journey into to the squelching swamps of the TB303. Sniping beats introduce the lush tones of "Renderer." Blurring the lines of electro and techno the track is an elegant end to an EP of deep and dense layers.

After releasing 'Acid Flash,' a track with Drvg Cvltvre on Shipwrec earlier in the year and one that got picked up by the likes of the Guardian, Chris Moss Acid is now back with a full EP of his own. Before now, the British acid house and electronic musician has release on the taste making Mathematics and well established Don't label, as well as with the 030303 outfit, and is someone who really knows how to get the best out of his various roland drum machines. He also runs the digital label Boxfade Records but here appears on vinyl, with great artwork by Wood1 from the 030303 crew.

Christopher Scott Leary aka Ochre is someone who has established himself via his own means, namely his own bandcamp page, as well as on labels like Baselogic, Toytronic, with a stunning LP in 2004, Benbecula. As such, Dutch label Shipwrec have snapped him up for a fantastic new EP that showcases his style, which touches on ambient and downtempo as well as lushly melodic electronica, in all its glory. Like the last release, this vinyl comes lovingly prepared with a special sleeve designed by Nathaniel Reeves and is the sort of thing those who admire Boards of Canada will need in their collections.

The mysterious Ekman, aka Roel Dijcks, has been gaining some deserved attention with his terse brand of Electro. With releases on the likes of Panzerkreuz, Solar One Music and Berceuse Heroique, Dijcks has rattled souls with his bare mechanics and cold-hearted sounds. Arctic blasts descend from the outset with his latest for Shipwrec. Frosted coils ensnaring clipped beats, roaming bass lines kept in check by tight drum patterns. Emotion is masked, feelings enveloped and embedded beneath those arrangements of aluminium and steel. Distress is never far from Ekman's work. The flipside jangles with fear and retribution, respites elevating that initial unease into something outright sinister. Anxiety is effect. A brooding boil of ghosting reverb and sharpened percussion from the hooked hands of Ekman.

Boris Bunnik dons his Hexagon scuba gear before diving into electronic abstraction and aquatic electricity. Counter Utopia brings together three works of machine textures. "Cerebral Trauma" is submerged in a simmering liquor of smelted metal, molten melodies bubbling to the surface as ball bearings fizz and rattle. Industrial experimentation undercuts the entire EP. Soulful chords are stretched, contracted and contorted against the clean percussion lines of "Utopia." Machines echo in the finale. Gears groan against a backdrop of soaring synths and pulsations in the depths of "Paranormal."

Fedbymachines has been active for almost a decade now, lurking in the undercurrents of netlabels and digital releases. Now Shipwrec shine the vinyl light of this shapeshifting musician, an artist who has ably turned his hand to a dizzying spread of styles. This skill is amply shown on his first wax release, Relapse EP, where a glut of genres are fed into the machine. Ambient. Electronica. Techno. Electro. All are combined to create a textured sound, one of delicate strings, ghostly clicks and static. Ochre closes the quintet with a remix, one that amplifies the organic nature of this absorbing encounter.

For almost two decades Dave Paton has been dredging the recesses of his mind for electronic inspiration. The findings have been fantastical, freakish and formidable; all ways of describing his latest outing. "The Great Pretender" straddles electro and techno, staggers between ambient and IDM and swaggers to its own bawdy beat. Rasping rhythm patterns are rinsed in ragged roars, charcoal chords are conjured before being crunched as The Wee Djs has his fun across five tracks.

Composite Profuse, aka Valerio Lombardozzi aka Heinrich Dressel, breaks radio silence after seven years in the shadows. Cold winds curl and otherworldly atmospheres abound for Unalaska Ice Files. Arctic tundra and ice are the inspiration, frozen vistas dappled with warming light, subtle shifts and sinister shades. Teslasonic take on the title track, injecting electrical pulses and an underhanded edge. Shipwrec stalwart, Rob Witsch aka The Exaltics, gives his own icicle encrusted interpretation, one of stark percussion and expansive horizons. A welcome return to Composite Profuse. First run on coloured vinyl!

From the depths of the dark net come Telkhin, the latest addition to the Shipwrec roster. Following Earth Being Recycled on Detroit Underground, the Argentine project are debuting on vinyl with five tracks of off-world electronics. The chilling atmospherics of "Body Container" meet the needle before an electro iciness takes hold. Spiking snares and echoed radiowaves orbit the moody "Walk In", that same frosted futurism central to "Level Above Human". Telkhin melts man and machine, giving the computer age a humanoid form. Processors whirr in the bassy bleeps and residues of "Brithomber" before the final statement. Leaving the human world behind "Flight 19" is a fast and future funk driven piece of 2050 music. Forget the past, embrace the next step. Limited run of 150 coloured copies.

Release:2016 / Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
Shipwrec are opening 2016 with some acid cheer. Taking that iconic silver box and getting something new out of its aging circuitry is never easy, but with musical imagination it can be done. Bintus (Milo Smee) has been delivering inspired 303 bitterness for some while on his own Power Vacuum imprint. A powerhouse in electronics for decades, Smee has released as Kruton and Binary Chaffinch on a glut of labels like Dissident and Pure Plastic. He opens his Shipwrec account with Acid Shores. Low and levelled the tough mechanics of the title piece will leave speakers needing a specialist. Rasping rhythms follow as the coarse and corrupted form of "S.E.G." takes hold. Born somewhere between new beat and techno the track is emblematic of Bitnus' skill, skills fully on show for the final stomp. Twisting and writhing "Live Section #1" spits venom. Bass lines are blunted as fangs are bared in this fourteen minute epic of morphing serpentine synth chicanery.

"The Girl and the Chameleon" will probably fall under the genre tags of acid, electro and techno but it is so much more. Witschkowski has been responsible for exemplary electronics throughout his career and this latest is undeniably some of his best. The album sees The Exaltics don a dust mask. Warehouse parties, strobe lights and fog machines and the 90s underground acid scene are definite influences. But there's more. Across thirteen tracks and two slabs of wax the Jena artist takes you on a journey into his world. Gnarled and clinical grooves, caustic 303 encounters, depraved dancefloor destroyers and soothing machine music. A sonic trek through tough and taut textures with touches of tenderness. An album that shows a depth of ability, an enviable talent and a knowledge of how to break floorboards.

Shipwrec is turning back the clock and paying deserved respect to a giant in dutch acid. Active in the 90s, Random XS delivered high octane, 303 drenched, techno on the trailblazing Djax-Up-Beats like few others could. "Errant" and "Truant" have been reclaimed from '97, the first seeing them team up with fellow djaxer Binaural with the latter being a collaboration with Lost Trax (of Tabernacle fame.) The emblematic TB303 is at the heart of the EP. Acid lines melt and reform behind distant bleeps for "Errant". Lush chords ebb behind scuttling hi-hats in a deep journey of subaquatic electronics. "Truant" keeps that bubbling energy, teetering on the boundary between techno and ambient the track leads the listener deeper and deeper into a sonic labyrinth. An historic EP of texture and thump.

Shipwrec continues to carve out its own sonic universe with this new EP from a mysterious Detroit outfit, The Valley And The Mountain (aka TVTM). The identities behind TVTM remain unknown, but they have released on Belgium's cult label WeMe and in 2013 surfaced with their Assembly Required EP. Across five cuts here they explore crunchy, richly musical ambient, electro and slo-mo techno. First is 'Uncharted Systems', a slow and meandering cut full of atmosphere and metallic synths. Acid lines, lazy claps and smeared pads all add to the sense of drama and its fair to say this is a hugely unique sounding track. 'Detxploit' then picks up the pace with tough arps, chattering clap and filtered vocal musings that walkabout Detroit as the tension builds and the electro vibes grow stronger. 'Chasing Magnetic Particles' is then a beatless, abstract bit of futuristic synth work with twinkles, breaking wave like sounds, pained lines and undulating modulations all stretching out for the duration. 'Rockfall' is a serene and bittersweet affair with crunchy drums, poignant, cutting chords and gurgling synths; a rusty coloured soundscape that makes you feel and think as much as dance. Lastly, 'Outer Reaches' is a downbeat brew of slapping drums and apocalyptic dark disco moods that, like the EP overall, is woozy and intoxicating.

Genre:Electronic / Dance
Following on from the first part in April, Shipwrec proudly serve up a second instalment of the American Psychosis project by pioneering Dutch producer Drvg Cvltvre, who has previously released on the likes of Viewlexx, Bunker and Porn Wax, next to his own New York Haunted label. Drvg Cvltvre is known for his experimental and boundary pushing sounds and it's no different here, on either track. The first, 'March into Nothingness' is a truly bleak and foreboding affair with serrated synths and thick, dense fog hanging in the air above slow and purposeful drums. Like a post apocalyptic industrial estate it is a raw and arresting place to be. 'Drown Into The Eternal Twilight' is then an even harder edge techno stomper with angry synth lines, tough drums and tons of white noise darkening the foreboding airwaves. The artwork here is by Dutch artist Rutger Termohlen - who made five unique drawings, which are used throughout the artwork. Both parts come in a fully pr inted disco sleeve, but as part 2 completes the package this will be available in an outer sleeve with the last of the five drawings on the front cover. Again both sides have some locked grooves as well.

Shipwrec proudly present one of the pioneers of Dutch electronics. For some twenty years Vincent Koreman has been honing his sound, releasing on a plethora of labels such as Bunker, KK, Viewlexx, Mighty Robot Recordings and his own Angelmaker Records. Under the mask of Drvg Cvltvre brutish 303 soaked anger is being doled out. An Acid washed Industrial wrath comes in the form of American Psychosis [Part one]. "Acid Flash" sees a new collaboration with Bournmouth's Chris Moss Acid for a burning piece of aggression. Violent knob squawk is further punished by bullying beats, cruel claps and some late night horror. "I'll Wear Your Face On A Chain" has the same red mist behind the eyes. Shrill 303 chords run into abrasive drums with darkened vocals prophesising pain. Orwellian electronics : "If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face." The vinyl comes in a printed discosleeve with dra wings by Rutger Termohlen. "Part two" will have an outer sleeve to contain both records and another 3 drawings to complete "American Psychosis", including locked grooves on all sides!

Lenferink returns to his homeland label with new instalment, Forlane II. Whirring machine funk pours from speakers, Lenferink melting samples with pulsing drum patterns. Melodies arc and fade, harmonies quaking under condensed bassline. This swift soundweaver dissolves genres, splicing broken beats with echoed electronic memories. Shifting sonic sands and divergent textures. Comes with a full-colour doublesided poster and a download code for this EP + bonus track that is exclusive to the vinyl.

Returning to Shipwrec, MVDV serves up his own recipe for Electro in the form of the 'Internaut EP'. The title piece takes the rhythmic mould of the 808 but shifts the floorboards with industrial soundscapes and UK Techno sidesteps framing. A morphing and melting piece of otherworldly Electronics, over ten minutes of shifting synthsizer sands. 'Holographic Inserts' lands with terse clips and pulsing basslines before a rumbling analogue chord breaks the surface. Warbling bulwarks of space meet clinical lines in an immense track of expansive proportions. An epic of atmospheric, sinister and sharp sounds; a style pushing the boundaries of Electro
