The Hotelier exploded in 2014 with its sophomore album, Home, Like NoPlace Is There. Met with universal critical acclaim, the record catapulted the Worcester, MA band from unknowns to indie darlings. In 2016 The Hotelier returns with its ambitious third album, Goodness, a record about natural, unnatural, and supernatural love. Recorded and produced by Seth Manchester (Lighting Bolt, Battles, Fang Island) at Machines With Magnets and mastered by Heba Kadry (Future Islands, White Lung, Ty Segall) at Timeless Mastering, Goodness proves once again The Hotelier is not content to stand still as it pushes and progresses its art further.

Learning and growing together these friends have crafted a sound that is as organic as music can possibly be. So, it is no surprise how perfectly everything fits into place here. The memorable vocals, the affecting lyrics, the rolling, imaginative bass, and the steady, spiky drums all showcase the remarkable chemistry of 3 musicians/friends completely in tune with one another. Pulling from elements and influences of indie & folk, Cayetana's sound is all inclusive. It's raw & unflinching, imperfect & beautiful. Yes, Cayetana grabbed their moment. Yes, Cayetana is punk rock.

Strange Ranger (fka Sioux Falls) is an Indie-Rock / Post-Punk band from Montana, now based out of Portland, Oregon. Formed by Isaac Eiger and Fred Nixon and solidified by the duos mutual love of early Mod- est Mouse, the bands breakthrough debut full-length, the sprawling Rot Forever, was named one of Consequence of Sounds Top 50 Albums of 2016. Later that year, the follow-up EP, Sunbeams Through Your Head, was cited as one of Stereogums Great EPs from 2016 and lead to Strange Rangers inclu- sion in the publications list of Best New Bands. O ver the course of last Winter, Strange Ranger recorded its sophomore full-length, Daymoon. Naturally evolving from the expansiveness of Rot Forever in favor of a smarter and more focused approach, the album transmits as something uniquely hushed and organic. While previous material felt more like a band exploring numerous diverse avenues, Daymoon pulls back and showcases heightened attention to detail. Still, the honest, heart-on-sleeve songwriting remains, even if the band has chosen subtler paths to deliver its message. Daymoon is a tasteful and nuanced evolution for Strange Ranger - one that will undoubtedly serve as a bridge to the bands con- tinuing and singular evolution.

Originally self-released by See Through Dresses in 2014, its eponymous debut full- length marked an auspicious beginning for the Omaha, NE quartet as it gained in- ternational recognition and praise. Parlaying that success into tours with Cursive, Beach Slang, Cymbals Eat Guitars and most recently Charly Bliss - as well as a deal with Tiny Engines - the band has continued to impress with its follow up EP, End of Days, and most recently its Sophomore LP Horse of the Other World.

Chad Matheny, who Alternative Press described as "a spastic, legally blind, nomadic songwriter whose performances transform venues/living rooms/arts spaces into punk rock micro-raves," has been releasing music under the Emperor X moniker since 1998. His recordings and live shows fuse the punk songwriter tradition of Billy Bragg with the experimental tape loop minimalism of William Basinski, and reveal incurable obsessions with transportation infrastructure, modernist literature, and lo-fi Chicago house tracks. Consequences of Sound called the resulting twelve critically-accalimed albums and EPs "a radical, challenging, and sometimes baffling discography."

Adult Mom began as the solo project of Stephanie Knipe in a Purchase College dorm room in 2012. With their debut LP, Momentary Lapse of Happily, Adult Mom bravely shined a light on the darkness and allowed the listener to experience and feel those moments along with them. Soft Spots, the projects sophomore LP, is an exploration into the physical and emotional acts of opening up, the vulnerability that produces love, and then ache. With this record, Knipe proclaims that everybody has soft spots. Spots that get cared for and tended to, that grow and fade, that produce feeling that can linger for years and years. Knipe shares with us their process of learning how to cradle and understand their own softness without finality, a story without an end.

Genre:Rock / Indie
Wild Pink is one of those wonderfully rare bands that sounds instantly familiar, though drawing parallels to influences on its two previous EP has proven incredibly difficult. That sentiment remains on the New York City trio s Self-Titled debut full-length as Wild Pink continues to chart its own unique course, growing impressively expansive in sound and more ambitious in songwriting. Recorded by Justin Pizzoferrato (Dinosaur Jr., Pixies, Speedy Ortiz, Parquet Courts, Thurston Moore), the new LP moves at sublimely deliberate pace while Wild Pink further fleshes out the arrangements. Yet the songs never suffer, only growing more dynamic and propulsive while holding tight to the warm intimacy that has always made the band special. These are deeply personal stories about freedom (or lack thereof), about growing up, leaving youth behind while clinging to the deep-rooted scars that we hold sacred. Wild Pink has a remarkable way of transporting you to those moments in time where the smallest detail remains etched into your being. There is an intoxicating sincerity that echoes throughout the Self-Titled album and speaks to what makes the band so unique.
Mannequin Pussy - Romantic

Genre:Rock / Indie
Originally conceived as a duo between childhood friends Marisa Dabice and Thanasi Paul, Mannequin Pussy expanded to a three-piece for its critically ac- claimed debut, GP. The Village Voice proclaimed the band “more vital than ever” while Rolling Stone’s Rob Sheffield ranked it on his yearly Top 20, stating that GP was “the only album of 2014 I purchased in three formats.” Following a move to Philadelphia, Mannequin Pussy has once again grown in numbers and strength. With the addition of Kaleen Reading (drums) and Colins Regisford (bass), the outfit has crafted Romantic, an instant classic that is its most cohesive, dynamic and addictive release to date. The quartet hasn’t lost its “all killer, no filler” tag though; Romantic’s 11 incredible tracks clock in at less than 20 minutes. And much like GP, the album shifts seamlessly back and forth between highly infectious, kinetic pop and no-holds-barred punk rock. However, the band has refined and ultimately solidified its songwriting with Romantic. The earworm melodies are bol- stered by tsunami-sized hooks while the more aggressive, brain-caving numbers leave a wake of sonic destruction. Romantic is not only the sound of Mannequin Pussy hitting its stride; it’s a declaration of ascendancy.

Personal Space released its debut EP, The Early Universe Was Entirely Opaque, in the Spring of 2014. It was a promising glimpse into a band ripe with talent and intriguing ideas. Still, the Brooklyn, NY outfit would stay relatively quiet in the months to follow as the lineup shifted and a more focused version of Personal Space began to take shape. Fast forward to early 2016 as the band emerged from the studio with Ecstatic Burbs, an amazingly accomplished and fully realized debut album. Proudly embracing a unique mixture of styles and influences, Ecstatic Burbs is pol- ished, progressive pop for the indie rock crowd rarely seen since the likes of the The Dismemberment Plan. Much like the trailblazing DC quartet, Personal Space delves into heavy topics with charmingly reckless abandon. The eight magnetizing tracks survey the saccharine, surreal landscape of early-aughts suburban coming-of-age and all the weird contradictions thereof: the impossibility of violence in a world saturated by it; maladaptive responses to burgeoning male identity and sexuality forged via the internet; over-determined life choices influenced by baseless desires. Yet, Personal Space infuses this challenging material with remarkable depth and humor. From the innocence of child- hood to the confusion of adolescence and into the chaos of adulthood, the band hopes to find some sanity beyond it all. Ecstatic Burbs is quite simply, a rousing introduction to the masses for Personal Space.

Peaer is an object set in motion, staying in motion. Performing with a rotating lineup of musicians, songwriter Peter Katz (formerly of Fugue, Poverty Hollow, Suns) possesses a singular understanding of dynamics, amplitude and melody, and how those concepts interact by pushing, peaking and ultimately dissolving into one another. Consequently, on its new Self-Titled full-length, Peaer crafts songs about communication as a force on both linguistic and visceral interaction - between individuals, between the Ego and the Id and in the most raw, exposed state, between the heart and brain. P eaer’s upcoming eponymous release is the follow-up to 2014’s the eyes sink into the skull, which offered home-recorded songs ranging from contemplative, melancholic slowcore to sparkling, intricate math rock. Katz recognizes and references these motifs but pushes them further sonically with more cohesion and resolve. Performed and recorded with the help of Max Kupperberg (Bruise, ex-Palehound) on drums and Michael Steck on bass guitar, the seven captivating tracks on Peaer embrace higher energy, shorter form, stronger hook and an emphasis on economy and balance

Genre:Rock / Indie
On the unstoppably kinetic Confirmation Bias, Chicago’s Yeesh rides a wave of momentum from its well-received 2015 debut LP No Problem while honing its brand of eclectic and dynamic noise-pop even further. Pulling from diverse strains of the indie canon to create a sound that is singular and cerebral, yet cohesive and entirely familiar, Confirmation Bias finds the ambitious three-piece catapulting driving post-punk rhythms and math-y structures against a backdrop of fuzzy, feedback-drenched guitars and ear-worm melodies. Yes, Yeesh covers a hell of a lot of ground - from Dischord-esque post-hardcore to lo-fi grunge and even ‘90s emo - but it does so naturally, fearlessly and with supreme aplomb. Confirmation Bias is a watershed moment for Yeesh, moving beyond its influences and morphing into a full-on rock behemoth that demands to be heard.

Head In The Clouds is what originally caught the attention of Tiny Engines way back in 2010 and rightfully so. These six songs reflect an innocence and passion that was palpable and explosive. Now for the first time, Head In The Clouds will be released on vinyl, remixed and remastered by the label that first introduced you to State Faults. Those who really understand punk-rock know it is as intellectual as it is intense, seeking to express a range of emotions in addition to mere aggression. It's for this very reason that Light On The Lake, the third full-length by Cleveland's Signals Midwest, represents the art form so effectively. With thematic metaphors that repeat throughout the record-particularly the images of light leading one out of darkness and the dramatic transition from coastline to ocean-Light On The Lake is as literary as any canonical novel, as meaningful as any modern painting, and as punk-rock as it comes.
