Release:2008 / EU – Reissue

Türküola continues Manço Mania with the release of Sakla Samanı Gelir Zamanı (Waste Not Want Not) for the second time after 10 years with a fantastic cover that reflects its eclectic aesthetics. The album was originally released by Yavuz Records in Turkey and was actually a compilation of songs previously released in 45 rpm singles. However, Türküola preferred to remove two original songs and place 6 songs like Hal Hal (1980), İşte Hendek İşte Deve (alternative version of Kurtalan Ekspres in 1973) Eğri Büğrü (Recorded in 1979, released as flipside of Hal Hal) and Vur Ha Vur (as flip side of Rezil Dede) and Gülme Ha Gülme (flip side of nazar Eyle-1974 and first time in Sakla Samani LP because it has not been used in the tracklist of 2008 release) instead which made the LP more fascinating than ever. In fact this LP is not the identical reissue of Sakla Samani but Türküola’s interpretation of how it really should be.

Sezen Aksu-Firuze Firuze is a coming of an age album released in 1984. Till that time Turkish Popular Music fully depended on a western type of music with a certain amount of Turkish influence. On the other hand there was a parallel popular music called arabesque which was an eclectic stuff of Arab, Byzantine and Turkish music flirting with western scales. The title track Firuze which was composed and arranged by famous musician and multi-instrumentalist Attila Özdemiroğlu was a revolutionary song which made a fusion of two parallel popular music genres of Turkey. In an objective sense this track and the album was the pioneer of the popular music boom of Turkey that took place in 1990s. Today a typical Turkish pop music is a fusion of arabesque, Andalusian and Turkish elements with basic western harmonies. The album has also a track of Orhan Gencebay called Zelzele (earthquake) which was first performed in this LP by Sezen Aksu and later recorded by Gencebay in a best of album in early 2000s.

Reissue of German cassette release as vinyl after nearly 40 years. The songs are from the various singles and the debut LP. The title song 'Yuh Yuh' is from Selda's 1977 'Dostum Dostum'/'Yuh Yuh' single. Most of the songs are performed with the Anatolian Rock super group Dadaslar who are known for their works with Ersen. The group consists of Fehiman Ugurdemir (guitars and synthesizer, former Cem Karaca & Kardaslar guitarist), Ozkan Ugur ((bass, former Baris Manço guitarist) and Mehmet Gözüpek (former drummer of Bunalim) and creates a powerful groove with their psychedelic arrangements.

Erkin Koray-Şaşkın Türküola releases a new Erkin Koray LP with recordings mostly from Erkin Koray II (previously released by Doğan Plak in 1976) and some bonus tracks. The cover is from the photo sessions of Erkin Koray which are originally made for Koray’s famous Hard Rock concert in Fitaş Cinema in 1974 when he performed a repertoire of covers of hard rock songs. Photos from this session were used in the single “Fesupanallah-Komşu Kızı” on a cassette that uses mainly the repertoire of Istanbul Plak and in an other release of Türküola which uses a similiar tracklist and is pressed on vinyl in 2007. Although the track list is based on Erkin Koray II , it also contains 2 bonus tracks from the legendary Elektronk Türküler which are Karlı Dağlar and Yalnızlar Rıhtımı. The quality of Türküola is perceived in every inch of the record once again beginning with the psychedelic cover art to the powerful sound derived from Türküola masters.

İlhan İrem-Pencere The first part of the symphonic rock trilogy of İlhan İrem is reissued with traditional Türküola quality once again. Türküola was producer of the both Turkish and German pressing of the album in 1983. On the other hand the sole German pressing of the album was in MC format. Therefore this is the first time you hear Pencere (The Window) on vinyl as a German pressing. Pencere is a symphonic rock album of İlhan irem who had a briliant song writter career before this album while he was making tracks with an arranger and studio musicians; and after this album İrem also appeared as a rock musician and a band leader. There are references to Pink Floyd, alan Parsons Project and Supertramp in all around the album. This concept album was followed by two other concept albums called Köprü (Bridge) and "..Ve Ötesi" (And beyond..) which were focused on life, death and eternal life. Last but not least, after this LP, İrem became a new age preacher with the motto "Işık ve Sevgi" (Light and Love).

Türküola releases one of the most eclectic and experimental musician of Turkey once again on vinyl. Orhan Gencebay has released many albums both in Turkey and Germany. In Germany the albums were generally released by Türküola and made of eclectic stuff from different albums and singles. Like the albums released in Germany before, this album reflects a version of an existing album, this time debut album of Gencebay. In the debut album Gencebay forces the limits of monophonic but ultra-melodic and tonal Turkish music in the spirit of flower power in fusion with Indian, Greek and Arabic music. And please never underestimate the psychedelic electric on the air as Gencebay was also a catalyzer and host for jazz, psychedelic and traditional musicians of Turkey. In his experimental fusion music you can feel the road to Katmandu, Bouzouki playing of Perpeniadis and an eclectic bağlama usage covering Byzantium music to Turkish folk. A perfect opportunity to meet Gencebay and his first works as a composer, of course with the quality of Türküola.

Mega Manço is Barış Manço’s third album which was recorded without Kurtalan Ekspres. The arrangements are by Garo Mafyan the veteran keyboardist of “Turkish Chicago” called İstanbul Gelişim. The album is first time on vinyl. While some songs reflect the modern synthe pop age of Manço, some songs have strong references from his Anatolian rock group music period. Süleyman reflects his singles period with Moğollar such as İşte Hendek İşte Deve. Diral Dedenin Düdüğü reminds us of 1981-83 era of Manço which reflects an Anatolian Rock attitude with Arabic influences. Hemşerim Memleket Nire has also important references to the legendary 2023 album, as the song is based on the critical bass lines of the electronic music hit, 2023. The album also contains an instrumental track called Rüya which is a composition of Manço in a Yanni style new age based on piano and strings. In the album you can also hear a significant electro pop hit of Manço named Ayı which had a great popularity among children at that time period when Manço was a fabulous figure for children because of his TV shows. Türküola is once again in place to make such an important album available on vinyl for the first time.

Türküola’s new vinyl release of Kayalarınoğlu 2023 is based on Barış Manço & Kurtalan Ekspres’ 1975 album “2023”. On the other hand you can hear tracks like “Estergon Kalesi”, “Ben Bilirim Ben Bilirim” as well. “Estergon Kalesi” was the latest single released before the 2023 LP and “Ben Bilirim” was the A side of the single which contained single version “2023” at the flipside. In addition to these additional tracks you can hear the unedited version of “Kolbastı” first time on vinyl.2023 was Manço’s most experimental album which contained a lot of electronic sounds of analogue synthesizers and also early drum machines. The track “Kayaların Oğlu-2023” has a touch of early electronic music of its age just like Jean Michael Jarre and Chezlaw Niemen. “Ben Bilirim” is a power funky song while the band’s experiments in Baykoca Destanı drives us to concept albums of pogressive rock groups such as Genesis, Yes, Renaissance etc. You can hear moody Anatolian Rock ballads in “Uzun İnce Bir Yoldayım” and “Yol Verin ağalar Beyler”. In both tracks you can hear a powerful rhythm section formed of two drummers and one percussionist. The cover art also reflects the esthetic approach of Türküola during 1970s and 1980s. After the accurate reissues of 2023 by different companies, Türküola gives a new path to interpret the album once again but this time in a new vision.

Orhan Gencebay-Gönül Bağlarında Türküola continues to recreate its tradition with its new vinyl reissues that has been a great catalogue already. Orhan Gencebay’s LP called Gönül Bağlarında is not a reissue but an album that displays the early years of Gencebay that were not previously presented in an album form before. The songs were generally released on Türkofon and Topkapı singles between 1968-1970. Some of them reflect the folkloric period of Gencebay while others give us a retrospective of his early experimental days of creating his genre called arabesque which was a bridge from a fusion of all types of eastern music to West. Moreover we also get caught by a superb sound which is a result of Hamit Akbay’s analog mastering which is a good coincidence with the first pressing of this historical compilation. Briefly it can be said that this is the debut album of Orhan Gencebay’s unknown discography.

This album demonstrates the early period of Ilhan Irem who later on in the 1980's became a progressive rock and new wave singer with mystical new age themes. The songs on this album consist of his works recorded between 1973 and 1978 in which he was accompanied by studio orchestras such as the legendary soul orchestra Istanbul Gelisim. The significant Mellotrone sound of Istanbul Gelisim perfectly matches with the Donovan years of this Turkish meditative rock singer and as a seal of the flower power years. The songs are from the Diskotür and Yavuz singles of Ilhan Irem which were licensed by Türküola for the European market during the 1970s.
