Lana Del Rey announced 3 years ago that she was to re-release her first album, recorded under her birth name, Lizzie Grant. That hasn’t surfaced so far. The controversial torch-pop singer told the British BBC that she has bought the rights to her 2010 record, Lana Del Ray A.K.A. Lizzy Grant, which was released on the independent label Five Points Records but shelved two months after its debut on iTunes. "I had signed to an independent label but they couldn't fund the release of it," said Del Rey. "People act like it's so shrouded in mystery, the 'forgotten terrible album.' But if you look on YouTube, all 13 tracks are available with millions of views, so it's not like no one's heard them. We were all proud of it. It's pretty good." Of her current infamy, she told the BBC that she feels the public's reception to her image and music has been unfair. "My publicists, in their long career, say they have never seen someone be more fictionalized," she griped.

August 2022 sees the 10th anniversary of Jessie Ware’s breakthrough, Mercury Music Prize-nominated debut album ‘Devotion’.To commemorate its birthday ‘Devotion’ is being reissued as a deluxe gatefold limited edition. LP1 includes the original album and LP2 gathers together 10 bonus tracks, most of which are being made available onvinyl for the first time. These include Jessie’s collaboration with Sampha (‘Valentine’), a re-work of ‘Wildest Moments’ with A$ap Rocky, a remix of ‘Running’ by Disclosure, the track ‘Imagine It Was Us’ released on the vinyl edition of ‘Devotion’ in the US only, and a host of very cool remixes from the likes of Joe Goddard, Ewan Pearson and Two Inch Punch previously only available on streaming and download sites. 30th(!) studio album of the legendary Bowie!

"Another great find from Minimal Wave, Deux’s style can be hard to pin down; theirs is a rare combination of Kraftwerk precision and a coldwave coolness flavored by the vibe of French songwriters like Serge Gainsbourg and Francoise Hardy. There is at times a basic similarity to Stereo Total (listen to “Paris Orly”) as well as Gina X, but the comparison only goes so far, as Deux are utterly elegant and cool. They never allow their songs to go into the hyper, spazzy new wave pogo cliché zone. “Dance With Me” is a perfect example of a Kraftwerk/Serge collaboration. “La Camion” comes across like a Francoise Hardy/Gainsbourg duet for some lost film’s end credits. “Sex and Trouble” almost sounds like a French take on the darker side of Altered Images (no squeaking voices here though). Aside from these, the best final comparison I can make is to fellow Minimal Wavers, Linear Movement. There is just something about a male/female duo that can writes such varied, elegant songs, as sultry and sexy as they are cool and laid back. It’s also worth pointing out that though these are synthpop songs that are completely authentic and of the time, the band are not nearly as obsessed with over-arching dramatic synth and bleepy robot pop as was typical. While many of their peers could be accused of being drenched in stylization, Deux manage to infuse the qualities of their genre with a rare degree of intimacy. For mature audiences only perhaps? Recommended!".

A sum of Benny's real-life observations and insights on love, held together by his soft rock inspired songwriting, jazz instrumentation, leading piano and distinctive vocal. In November 2017, Young Fathers announced that they’d completed work on a new album. The trio – Alloysious Massaquoi, Graham ‘G’ Hastings and Kayus Bankole – marked the news by previewing a brand new song, ‘Lord’ and a subsequent accompanying video. Just like their previous standalone 2017 single ‘Only God Knows’ (written for the Trainspotting T2 film and described by director Danny Boyle as “the heartbeat of the film”), ‘Lord’ provided an enticing glimpse of what to expect from Young Fathers’ third full album; something typically unique and exhilarating, but leaner, more muscular and self-assured than ever before.
Titled Cocoa Sugar, the twelve track album will be released on 9th March 2018 via Ninja Tune and follows the group’s previous two albums; 2014’s Mercury Prize-winning DEAD and 2015’s White Men Are Black Men Too. The whole album is set up around the different stages of a romantic relationship, and how things can fall apart. This fresh album charted all over Europe, and eventually went on to become their most popular record. Roisin's voice and the fine handling of the album's instrumentation sets Moloko apart from many other dance duos. Almost four decades since it’s domestic release, Karen Marks’ 1981 single Cold Café has finally reaped it’s deserved international credit to become one of Australia’s most recognised minimal wave recordings. Efficient Space now showcases the Melbourne artist’s brief but entire discography, including two previously unheard demos, all produced with experimental synthesist Ash Wednesday (The Metronomes, Modern Jazz, Thealonian Music). A rarity in the then male dominated industry, Marks found her footing in music, first through rock journalism and then in band management. Formally of Adelaide, newly arrived synth-punks JAB (Johnny Crash, Ash Wednesday and Bodhan X) approached her for representation, subsequently contributing tracks to seminal 1978 snapshot Lethal Weapons and playing the Crystal Ballroom’s opening night.

After a first EP acclaimed as a Summer Soundtrack 2018 in France, young Miel de Montagnewill release his first LP, between pop (Muddy Monk, Flavien Berger) and electronics (Salut C’est Cool, Jacques), that makes him one of the most attended French electro-pop artist.

“This record is a response to how disposable culture has become and how it affects creativity,” Bear said in a press release. “While listening, you might pay attention or ignore—either way that's ok, this is music for a creative mind.”

The Bedroom Tapes presents songs from Pink Elln, Karen Marks, Disque Omo, Vorgruppe, Iham/Echo, Perfect Mother, Arvid Tuba, Subject, Denial, Unovidual, Aural indifference, and Autumn all lovingly remastered. Fittingly, the 11 electronics-driven songs on Okovi share musical DNA with her early work on Sacred Bones. The music was written in pure catharsis, and as a result, the sonics are heavy, dark, and exploratory. With Okovi, Zola Jesus has crafted a profound meditation on loss and reconciliation that stands tall alongside the major works of its genre. The album peaks of tragedy with great wisdom and clarity. Its songs plumb dark depths, but they reflect light as well.

It was winter break at university in Madison, Wisconsin. There was a snowstorm that covered the city with a still white haze. Not a single person in the streets. I had no time to think about process or intent. It was a purge. I do remember taking a break from recording, bundling up, and walking through the barren streets while listening to the demos I'd made. The world, at once, felt clear. These songs were a huge leap of faith back then. It was my first time singing without layers of distortion, echo, and reverb. It was the first time I peeled back the layers to find out what was at the core. I'm still on that path today, seeing how far I can push myself into unknown places, whether through clarification or destruction.
