Er gründete die Imprints New JerseyRecords, Troubleman Unlimited, The Vanity Label, 2MR und 2006, zusammen mit Johnny Jewel in LosAngeles, Italians Do It Better. 2013 verließ er Italians Do It Better.

The Craft Spells remix 12” shows two extremes. The Whatever/Whatever remix is lush, dense and full of texture. Simonetti’s approach is a more unorthodox, minimal, loop heavy affair, adding hints of melody in unexpected places - tying it all together in the end...

I spend a lot of time skating there. Sometimes there are other people skating there, sometimes not. I prefer it when there are other people at the blocks." Und weil in der Gegend keine Polizistenaufkreuzten, konnte er dort nach Herzenslust seiner Leidenschaft frönen: "Black Box is a cop free zone, youcannot be kicked out."

This was Savile’s mantra as he sculpted his ‘Compersion’ EP for Mike Simonetti’s 2MR and it’s a mantra we should all subscribe to. It’s come about through his introspective analysis during the creation of his most succinct and starkest exploration date. ”'Compersion' is a record about wrestling my own beliefs, both personal and political. It’s about experiencing the anxiety and absurdity of loving a partner and ultimately myself. The sounds, tempos and arrangements found here are the result of further experiments with editing tracks to their absolute minimum. I tried to work these songs like I am working on me. Less thought, more direction and purpose, less catering, more expression.” And more detail; throughout every stripped back heavily-edited sensation the conceptual EP provides, the meaning and message is palpable. Each track title inspired by Jenny Holzer and Helmut Lang’s revolutionary provocative, sexualisation of the art space in Florence Biennale, 1996, there’s a tangible physicality felt throughout… The heavy breathing rhythmic elements of the electroid ‘Talk Smile Bite’ and its bedrock bedspring funk; the playful switch between breezy broken beats and driving techno coupled with minimal sample craft and literal message of an instantly recognisable vocal on ‘Watch Scan Wait’; the much heavier, intense techno pressure of ‘Tease Breathe Smell’ where the heart is on the sleeve and it’s palpitating wildly with direction, purpose and true expression. A smart concept from a Smart resident, Savile has achieved something special here; a provocative model a deep self-construction and, above all, three damn fine pieces of techno.

"Gel Set = Chris & Cosey x Throbbing Gristle + Chromatics. Gel Set skirts mutantfunk, spaced out, janky beats and mechanical darkwave, but what seals the deal isher compelling ability to spin us into a grooving trance and keep us moving." - SlugMag Laura came across the phrase Body Copy while using some now forgottenfreeware at a now forgotten job that didn't want to pay for the name brand goods."What is the content of your body's copy?" she asks you to ask yourself. Gel Set isthe art that Callier makes in her noisy bedroom, currently in Koreatown, LA.When asked her influences, she says "I like crunchy, hard electronic music thatsounds like it was made by someone who is growing mushrooms on their person,"whatever that means, and she says she loves the raw emotion of Karen Dalton, theabstract story telling and dissonance of late Scott Walker, the synthesis of MortGarson and Tangerine Dream, the heavy sounds of Hogg, and she's ever flatteredby comparisons to Chris and Cosey. She says she also loves music with a popsensibility, from Erasure to Jessy Lanza. TL;DR, the hard facts: She's a multimediaartist. She plays in several bands besides Gel Set (her solo project). Simulation is adreamy psychedelic elect ronic duo with Whitney Johnson from Matchess, E+, andVerma. Athleisure is a duo with video artist Jason Ogawa from Tarnation. God Vol1 is a duo with visual artist Nicole Ginelli.

Genre:Electronic / Dance
On his new album, I Have What I Gave, out October 6th on 2MR, Retrogroove, and TIN, Italian musician Bottin outdoes himself. He crafts propulsive, disco-laden scores for films not yet made, and introspective, mindexpanding cuts designed to ensure that people who want to dance never get caught up in conventional experiences. Each moment with Bottin is amemorable one. One thing that sets I Have What I Gave apart from his pioneering Horror Disco and much-loved Punica Fides LPs is that this time around Bottin didn't see to it to create a concept-album structure. Everything came at once during the writing and recording process, which no doubt gives the album its intensity and sense of immediacy. But even if the album didn't come about in a series of tightly crafted experiments, it doesn't sound messy or chaotic. It's just the opposite. Bottin has managed to take bits and pieces of sounds, some short loops and orphaned arpeggios, and a handful of vocal samples, and put them t ogether into an album that unifies 10 songs of divergent trajectories into an outstanding body of work that absolutely kills.

Saine & Smith consists of Jaja Saine and Leo Smith. Two talented DJs/producers from Stockholm. Both are diaspora kids - Jaja Saine’s background is in West Africa and Leo’s in Barbados. So their debut release is a kind of heritage reflection, with twisted elements of decadent Scandinavian dance music, which echoes generally in their sound.

It’s only been a few months since Earth Boys touched down with their debut EP on 1080p, Welcome 2 Earth. Their second release via 2MR, Feel The Rhythm, showcases their production skills, and features a deeper, all-encompassing groove that fills yours brain and moves your body. More than anything, Earth Boys’ music is about having a good time. The duo is Julian from the Sisterjam collective in Brooklyn, and Michael Sherburn from ground-breaking New York techno live act DUST. Each track is constructed in a deep haze - vintage house, smooth jazz and breakbeats - and compiles moody vocals and analog gear to create their signature, tongue-in-cheek sound. While the first EP on 1080p delivered a range of upbeat melodies and catchy hooks, Feel The Rhythm explores a low-end, hypnotic vibe throughout all five tracks. The title track gets an internal re- work at the end, with “Feel The Rhythm (Dark Room Mix)” evoking chill-inducing bass beats that nod back to some of Detroit’s most influential underground moments. On the lighter side is “You Were Mine,” with uplifting syncopation, but still as thick and engaging as the heavier tunes on this EP.

Genre:Electronic / Dance
The second release from Deardrums on 2MR features three standout originals from Bottin and Leo di Angilla and is made with a serious array of hardware gear. The bril- liantly bespoke ‘Dum Dum’ is fully of trippy jungle heat, with a tough drum riff and cooing vocals all mixed together with wooden percussive hits and frazzled synth lines. It is stuffed with neo-tribal sounds from deep within nature and makes for a terrific opening.‘Mami Wata’ makes use of acoustic percussion to createa lovably idiosyncratic, poly-rhythmic drum track straight from some ancient tribe. Layered up and increasingly pres- surised, the loose drums make for physical listening and recall the work of Shackleton, amongst others, whilst thick bass really adds to the sense of presence. This track ap- pears exclusively on this EP and won’t be available on the forthcoming album or anywhere else. The last cut ‘Into Darkness’ is a whacked out, machine made and mechanical rhythm that lays its bare bones out for all to see. Incessant hits, micro-funky keys and paddy kicks all add up to one of the freshest and most original basement tracks you will hear this year.

None of the Above aka N/O/T/A is an escape from reality plan. Made in between London and Toronto, it joins Dinamo Azari (AZARI & III) and Mixhell's Laima Leyton and Iggor Cavalera (SEPULTURA). Eager to collaborate and make music in a non compromised way, the trio brought together live and electronic drum beats, strong bass lines, unexpected samples and dark synths to an unknown place. It is none of the genres we are listening to nowadays but it still brings together a live feeling of techno, industrial and acid.
