The Story Of Moondog Green Starburst Vinyl Edition
LP | 1957 | EU | Reissue (4 Men With Beards)
27,99 €*
Release:1957 / EU – Reissue
Genre:Organic Grooves
Originally released on Prestige in 1957, this is the third LP from NYC street performer and avant garde/minimalist composer Moondog. Perhaps the least accessible of his early releases, this album is made up of percussive jams, usually on instruments of his own creation, street sounds, poetry, and Far East melodies, despite opening with a swinging number that is, oddly, the most bizarre thing on the album. Another classic from Moondog reissued with its original Andy Warhol artwork. Limited edition of 1,000 on purple and green starburst vinyl.

Joy Of A Toy is the debut solo album from the bassist and principal songwriter of the Soft Machine, originally released in 1969. With Ayers playing an impressive list of instruments and bandmate Robert Wyatt on drums for most of the songs, many of the tracks recall early Soft Machine, and feature Ayers prog-pop songwriting sensibilities in full force. Reissued on limited edition opaque yellow vinyl in a deluxe tip-on jacket, gatefold sleeve.

Release:1972 / EU – Reissue
Genre:Organic Grooves
1972's "Life, Love and Faith" was Toussaint's first album for Warner Reprise. While a soul record through and through, this effort from the multi-talented New Orleans native shares some of the singer/songwriter vibe of his contemporary labelmates, such as Randy Newman, Joni Mitchell, Lowell George and Little Feat. Stand out tracks include "Soul Sister," "Victims Of The Darkness" and "On Your Way Down." A limited edition of 500 copies on blue vinyl.

Lust For Life Purple Vinyl Edition
LP | 1977 | EU | Reissue (4 Men With Beards)
29,99 €*
Release:1977 / EU – Reissue
Genre:Rock / Indie
Released less than a year after The Idiot, Lust For Life is a return to the sloppy, sleazy, blues-y, swagger of the Stooges. Though the record is, again produced by David Bowie, he takes much more of a backseat musically, allowing for Iggy Pop to take center stage in his return to form. His best solo album and an absolute classic from this legend. Reissued on purple vinyl. Limited edition of 2,000.

The Great San Bernardino Birthday Party
LP | 1964 | US | Reissue (4 Men With Beards)
24,99 €*
Release:1964 / US – Reissue
Genre:Rock / Indie
Originally released in 1966. Fahey's never recorded an album that was more thoroughly of its moment. From the groovy flute and twangy sitar accompaniment to the backwards guitar, this Birthday Party is a charmingly trippy 60s time capsule. But it isn't a two dimensional one. The album gains immense depth from the tension between his sweeping, fingerpicked melodies and discordant string-battery. It's the audible battle between yearned for rose colored luminescence and ankle blistering hellhound darkness that enables this record to transcend its hippie dreaminess.

The recording started life as a Duane Allman solo record which was then taken over and completed by Jenkins and crafted into this release with help from future Allman Brothers members Berry Oakley, Jaimoe and Butch Trucks. Highlights include a cover of Dr. John's "I Walk On Gilded Splinters" which has been sampled many times, Bob Dylan's "Down Along The Cove", Muddy Waters "Rollin' Stone" and J.D. Loudermilk's "Bad News." Also included are the bonus tracks "I Don't Want No Woman" by Don Robey and Otis Rush's "My Love Will Never Die." On 180 gram vinyl in a gatefold sleeve.

The 10 songs of "Blackheart Man" are brimming with spirituality and protest, wonderful performances, and a more laid back, meditative style than his former band mates Peter Tosh and Bob Marley. Moondog's debut release, originally on the Prestige label, came out in 1956, long after he'd become a legendary New York City street performer. The blind Kansas native showcases his talent for the minimal and avant-garde here, with compositions driven by percussion and Japanese-inspired melodies, complimented by street sounds, recitations, and animal noises. Bizarre even for today's standards, it's a wonder this was released over a half-century ago. Moondog's brilliant debut, reissued on limited edition clear vinyl.

This, the second Blue Note album by Eddie Gale, was released in 1969 and includes jazz heavy weight Elvin Jones on drums and sax man Jimmy Lyons. This is a blend of soul jazz, free form freak outs and a gospel-influenced street choir, and it’s suggested listening for fans of Sun Ra & Brother Ah, John Coltrane's late '60s LPs, and Ornette Coleman and Albert Ayler's more groove-oriented recordings. The original vinyl LPs go for big bucks on Ebay, and this is the first time this Blue Note album has ever been reissued. Remastered from the original master tapes with original artwork.

Case History is the debut solo release from bluesy British singer-songwriter Kevin Coyne (originally released on John Peel's Dandelion label in 1972). Primarily just guitar and vocals, Case History is a powerful album from a very unique voice who was celebrated by folks as wide ranging as John Lydon, Sting, and the Mekons. Coyne, who passed away in 2004, spent much of the '60s working with the mentally disabled, and his songwriting is informed by a deep concern for the plight and mistreatment of those who have been tossed off by society. A bit of an outsider himself, he eschewed record industry pressure and maintained focus on his singular artistic vision. Another underappreciated classic.
