Moon Synch
LP | 2017 | EU | Original (Alien Transistor)
17,99 €*
Release:2017 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
MimiCof's latest album, Moon Synch, is an experimental sonic link between human and celestial bodies, mind and machine, gravitational ripples and rotations. Moon Synch is the result of an intricate search for converging frequencies, a wordless account of well-modulated speeds and interlocking spheres. Kyoto-born, Berlin-based MimiCof, who's also been releasing music under her actual name Midori Hirano since 2006, quite literally breaks new ground and ventures into uncharted territory on this album because she's chosen a whole new musical vehicle.

LP | 2015 | EU | Original (Alien Transistor)

Release:2015 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
Arranging various layers of piano, xylophone and glockenspiel, stylophone, Moog and harmonium, Le Millipede creates minimalist, instrumental pop gems, tracks with an immediate quality that seem rather simple at first listen. In fact, Götz’s recordings are somewhat comparable to the work of French-born, Barcelona-based composer Pascal Comelade, known for his use of toy instruments. In both cases, there’s a certain childlike quality at work, a very disarming greenness and naïveté.

Earlier this year, Micha Acher and his band The Notwist returned with their latest full-length “Close To The Glass” and received rave reviews around the globe. Yet, it’s not the only album he’s going to release this year, since Acher’s about to introduce his latest musical entity – the Alien Ensemble. It’s an all-acoustic line-up, devoid of electronic enhancements. And even though all members have a background in jazz, this is no classic “jazz music” either – there’s simply no need to show off technical skills… Since you’ll hear anything from Minimal Music to Krautrock influences, from delicate brass sections to the sound of New Orleans, it’s pretty much impossible to pigeonhole Alien Ensemble’s sound or slap a genre term on it.

Alien Ensemble's trombone man Mathias Goetz caused quite a splash when he released his eponymous debut LP under his Le Millipede moniker back in 2015: The multi-instrumentalist's initial offering was clearly something else, impossible to grasp, a musical vessel beyond genre, beyond style or era, seemingly beyond space and time even; a vessel that carried an almost cosmic kind of song-craft – music with no fixed stamp of origin, though it did somehow feel like an Alien Transistor release.

Protein, registered in every day life as tax payer Tobias Laemmert, released his first official studio album "Süss" in 2001. Mathias Modica, the Gomma label boss, heard Protein's tape by chance during a taxi ride and instantly offered him a contract. In the here and now Protein sends out sonic distortions into the intermediate world of instrumental music. Whether digital or analogue – his minimalist sound collages and their accurately adjusted de- and reconstructions, broken rhythms and atonal sexyness fit perfectly in Schamoni's label credo. Here Protein also released the album "Helldunkel" in 2014, the cover of which indicates his present work "The Secret Garden" with a soft stroke of a wing. The current EP will be presented in cooperation with Alien Transistor

Neue Welt / Lenity
7" | 2016 | EU | Original (Alien Transistor)
5,99 €*
Release:2016 / EU – Original
Genre:Rock / Indie
After the release of his debut album in June 2015, Le Millipede is back with a 7" single with "Neue Welt" and "Lenity". The newcomer to the A-Z of instruments of Le Millipede is the clarinet. Together with Le Millipede's characteristic percussion, it sets the basic structure of "Neue Welt". Two melodies of piano and bass trumpet join in to a euphoric, dreamy tune, only to be shaken up profoundly - or should we say challenged? - by the second debuting instrument, a ukulele. Lenity is melancholic and brisk, hymnic and susurrant, heartfelt and effusive, intimate, lush, sad and exuberant, passionate and serene.

There's something going on between California and Bavaria, as you might have recognized collaberations between "Themselves" and "The Notwist" ("13&God") or "Odd Nosdam" and "Saroos". And on it goes when "Jel" a true producing mastermind behind the Anticon experimental Hip Hop scene is creating a mind blowing track out of loops from Munich based experimental Pop Duo "Joasihno". And here's the small sensation: JEL is not only tinkering with soundscapes and beats but even puts his vocals and his track "Hypnotize Us". Less beat driven but equally hypnotizing is the previously unreleased track "Lay Down" by "Joasihno" themselves. Story to be continued.
