Aquarian - Eden & After
Eden & After
Tape | 2015 | UK | Original (La Nature Malade)
8,99 €*
Release:2015 / UK – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
La Nature Malade brings along a brand new album of analog electronics for 2015 from a well known UK producer operating under a new alias, Aquariun. Eden and after is a 9 track album on a limited hand numbered pro dubbed blood red cassette in an edition of 100 worldwide. Crossing styles and opening with the sub aquatic funk of title track side one takes you through banging electro on Energy In Constitution, the dark dub techno of To The Letter Of My Oath and leaves you disappearing through a black hole on The Path Of Helium rain. On side two a slice of dark, heavy instrumental hip hop gets things started with Where Is That Perception? Next we get into some straight 4/4 club techno with cut up drums and bumping baseline of Mi Dominante before moving through some blissed out Detroit vibes on Earth Looking Inwards, aliens talking through FM synthesis on Collected Stills and finally closing out on a rough as you like TR606 driven electro groover. Look out for more to come from Aquariun in 2016.

In the 2 years since Aquarian’s 2012 debut, Obsidian he has kept a low profile with rare appearances at some of New York’s finest underground parties and the occasional remix for artists he holds in high regard. It is a less traversed path - one that requires patience and appreciation of a slow build, which at times may seem at odds with the brooding objectively abrasive sonic palette his music pulls from. His music is unabashedly North American, bridging the gap between European and American styles. It is unsurprising when you consider his general love of music ranging from experimental punk and cerebral IDM. At the same time drawing influences equally from classic 90s detroit techno acts such as Drexcyia and Underground Resistance and classic dubstep records. With his debut championed by the likes of Fact Magazine, Resident Advisor and Spin, which called “Motherisk” “a 140-BPM banger that balances Drexciyan squelch and surgically syncopated drum programming with tumbling Amen breaks” Aquarian’s return sees him delve deeper into break-riden, hardcore inspired techno wrapped in grime and jungle. With devastating swells and low-ends that challenge some of the most powerful of sound systems the self-titled EP is his most definitive statement. No glitz, no frills, just brooding, decidedly modern American techno.
